This video gave me an idea that worked on my 2007 Buick rendezvous with the 3.5: I took off the intake tube, propped the throttle plate open to allow access to the port behind the TB, then pulled the pcv orifice tube right above it. Used a pick from the TB and the pcv port to get rid of the carbony gunk, then sprayed carb cleaner from both angles. Replace everything, start it up from cold to let OBD2 diagnostics cycle the valve and flush the carbon as it warms up. For me, the code disappeared and mileage is up. 20 minutes from start to finish. Would this cause the car to idle poorly? I replaced the EGR value but still throwing code. I will try the the method you per posed and see if that works. The port where you put the wire through is clear on my G6. It may be clogged further down the line.

If the EGR valve is stuck open it will cause your car's idle to Surge
If you can't clean it well you have to replace it
What about the pipe off the exhaust to the EGR? Can that get clogged up?
Will this cause the car to die after placing gear in drive?
the EGR can but not common.
Was ot horizontal or vertical
