Thanks for the refresher! I had an EGR issue on my Camry 2.2 liter. Vacuum killed the engine so good there. Vacuum was created upon idling up at the modulator, so good there. Applied 12v to the VSV no click and vacuum didn't drop, emptied my pockets and problem solved.

After watching two videos from 10 years ago. Well done at continuing the channel and improvements in focus and sharpness. I'm struggling to pass emissions test in Maryland. 2009 VW rabbit with faulty secondary air injection system sensor. After watching this video I now have a better idea of how one can trash a perfectly good car with no issues because of not being able to pass emissions test. Just paid $200 to be quoted $1400 to repair.

I had a GM engine reporting EGR that eventually proved to be an intake manifold gasket leak. It took only a moment speaking to a competent mechanic to learn that it was a known issue with my engine, but not before a "GM certified mechanic" had soaked me for a fortune, giving the car back with "did all I could, hope that helps" and clearly knowing he was taking the easy money and too lazy to do the real job. Charged me full extension price on OEM egr valve that was clearly not needed. He belongs in jail. And for what it's worth, spraying to seek vacuum leaks was not effective because there was so little access beneath the plenum.

Hello 🙋‍♂sir please help me. i have a 1998 ford f 150 and i keep getting a po401 code. i already clean the throttle body its clean no carbon, the egr is working i put vacuum and truck almost cut off, so i rule that out, i took the cap off the egr solenoid while engine running also check volts has continuity, then i put finger on the top little hole from solenoid truck dies, rule out solenid, bought new dpfe sensor, check orifice tube from egr to converter its clean, i did notice on scanner egr drive cycle will only pass when check engine code comes on only, po401, any ideals what this problem could be?? im trying to pass emission test please reply back thank you.

The code sets when the diagnostic for the P0401 run. The EGR temperature sensor does not see enough temperature change when the EGR is commanded on. Failed temperature sensors are common.

Egr valve is something to go to the local car tuning guy and program away. No car in the whole world should use an egr valve since its gases collides with oil from crank case ventilation and will make the whole engine so seize up with soot and oil as a sludge making the intake seized up. So get rid of that shit asap!
