I cannot thank you enough for this detailed and easy to follow tutorial. I've only had my TET5 for about a week, and I've only had MSFS 2020 for less than a year... and the learning curve for this 76 year old newbie has daunting even though I'm totally addicted and now virtually attached to my computer. You sir, have a new subscriber and follower.

Great info! All your set up guides are fantastic. You got me through the multiple Bravo throttle configs for all my aircraft and now this eye tracker too. I used track IR and your review on this made me change over to Tobi. So much more real, natural and immersive. When I don't feel like sitting in a VR headset, Tobi comes on. Thanks so much.

Mark, if I could upvote this video more than once I would! I've had a Tobii 5 hooked up below my monitor for nearly a year because I found it very frustrating to setup. But after following your instructions, especially the sensitivity settings I'm now a very happy chappie! This video, the DLSS & USB power videos have enable me to enjoy MSFS to its fullest. Thanks Again!

Great video! I've just bought a Tobii in the New Year sale, and this video has been invaluable. I set it up today and have been trying it out - so far, so very good. One concern I had about Eye Tracker was the reported problem trying to look directly behind, as you need to in a combat flight sim. In reality, with Eye Tracker 5, this is not an issue at all. In fact, my view goes PAST 180 degrees almost to 270, ( and almost to 090 degrees if rotating my head the other way ) - very nearly a three quarter turn ! That is easily comparable with TrackIR. Keep these hardware tutorials coming, Mark - this one and the Loupedeck ones have been an enormous help.

It’s a pity the adjustments are not made graphically giving directly output vs inputs in place being obliged going back and forth between the sliders and the game. Also graphically you can adjust the curve of responsiveness differently at various points of the FOV. For exemple quite few sensitive in the axis and more sensitive when you begin to turn your head. This exists in very good open source program I used when I make my DIY track IR which is much easier to trim than from inside MSFS. I switched to Tobii to test it but I’m going to return it, except if I consider it for FPS or other action games, as I will soon use a 6DOF motion platform for VR and alternatively a 43’’ screen.

Mine will stop working if I minimize FS or switch to a different window. Not sure why it does it, not many people have said it happens to them, and both MS and Tobii blame each other for the issues. Thanks to this video I ordered a Tobii Eye Tracker 5. It was a horrible experience. First of all, it's impossible to put on a curved monitor like mine, so I used blutack and a cardboard box. It stayed in place alright.
Then, after a few minutes of using it, my eyes started to hurt. I had to use eye drop to counter it.
The configuration was pretty terrible. With my usual lights at night, it wouldn't detect me. I had to turn up the lights. Then, I had to be within 50cm, and preferably without glasses.
Finally, after trying your settings in msfs, I found it wasn't very reliable. Again, I had to be close, with good lighting, and it still wasn't as good as TrackIR 5. So I have returned it.
It's curious than the free aruco paper tracker to be much more reliable than the tobii. Not as good as TrackIR, but the best not too far behind.

After having mine for a few months I repeatedly come across an issue where the head tracking is very unstable and "shaky" when having my head angled. Such a scenario would be looking down and to the right to press buttons on the FMC. I will have my head stable but the screen in MSFS is twitching which makes pressing buttons in the sim very difficult. I use 100% head tracking, no eye tracking, and have tried different room lighting, glasses on/off, moving the monitor closer/further and recalibrating but haven't had any success. Any insight from anyone experiencing something similar would be great!

@@edgarsouthwold7358 yeah I'm irritated with it. I went back and forth with their customer service, sent them a video and they basically told me R&D is aware and it will take time for them to write a better algorithm and put out an update. Their advice was to buy Facetracknoir, a third party payware software, to use with their hardware instead of their own software. Ridiculous response for a $250 product in my opinion.

Hi Mark, being TrackIR user for many years I have to say I dislike it's slight stuttering or lack of smoothness if FPS is not exactly 60 or 120 (It is well known limitation of TIR - that device works excellent only if FPS is exactly 30, 60 or 120. But in between it is often not completely smooth). I am considering to buy TET, so I would like to ask you if you notice some performance changes with various FPS? THX

do you think so? This is what I have, but I can't yet configure it to do what I want. I find it 'runs on' after ceasing head motion, and despite playing around with the profile, template and actual curves, i'm having trouble with pitch - esp looking at the overhead panel or centre console in jets. Can you share any suggested configs/templates etc.....

    • @TheCrash1983

@@transair27 hey man sorry was hammered when i commented, so i didn't go in to any detail or back up my argument, very rude of me my bad.
as for the pitch if axis if you put the trackir sensor on the side of the screen and turn it so its 90 degrees on its side it increases the pitch axis an puts the sensor in a better place to track.
the reason i don't like the eye tracking is that i fly il2 and dcs and when scanning for contacts you need to be able hold your head still in one spot and scan with your eyes, any small movement will force me to have to start looking again.
i will link a video to someone that explains why trackir is better the combat pilots better then i ever could.

@@TheCrash1983 As shown in the video you can turn eye tracking off and just use head tracking. This makes it the same as TrackIR, but the reason I prefer it is set up is much easier and you don’t need to have any sensors on your head or headphones.

Tobbi is absolutely rubbish, for the USB cable is so short its a joke, also its on the right . So you get the item but cannot used it straight away as you to buy a usb extension cable. To top that you to buy a mount for a curved monitor which is £20 . So that is £30 on top of a the tobii BEFORE YOU CAN USE IT. Then in ganme it does not work. Horrible stupidity by the developers and poor software. Then if it does work it gives you eyes stain as it constantly shining infer red light into your eyes. The software does not have tobii experience, so that is a none starter.
