I have TrackIR, and it has been working pretty good. I purchased Tobii 5, and your video might have saved me from sending it back. It is not leaps and bounds better than TrackIR, but it is much more convient for all the reasons you spoke of...nothing to wear on your head, no wires to get twisted and tangled. VR is the ultimate way to experience flight sim, but Tobii definately fills that spot between flatscreen and VR. (Still think it is an exspensive option) but it is well built and can be used outside of just flight simming. Thanks for posting this setup guide.
Great tutorial - much appreciated! I just got a gaming PC for the first time in about 15 years to get back into MSFS and grabbed the Tobii as soon as I found out it existed! Haven't really even got into flying much yet, still getting everything set up, but this was just what I needed for the Tobii!
You were very clear upfront that this was a sponsored video, and therefore it should be expected that it was a commercial, which it was. However, a very informative, one for those seeking to understand what the Tobii Tracker five is, and a quick walk-through the set up and calibration process. All very useful, I did not expect a “review“; however, there are shortcomings to this device. Shortcomings are not the hardware itself, which is excellent, the weakness here is the software. The centering function is very difficult to use, perhaps it’s just me struggling to understand it, but I end up having to try to trick it by say leaning forward, and then pressing the center in hopes that, the center that actually shows up on the screen is what I want. Just one example.. The other short coming I will highlight is the highly limited adjustment factors one finds under the sensitivity controls. Note that the left and right and up-and-down movements have no separate adjustment and none of the adjustments have the ability to adjust the response curve. All that said, it’s a great, best in class, device which I highly recommend.
Thanks for the comment . Yes you are correct on most points that you made. After using it for a little while . I also feel like pitch and yaw need separate controls . Also the pause needs to pause where you left it . But I didn't have the issue you have with centering not sure what that could be. The hardware seems good but I'm hoping that they improve the software . But I guess they would need to work with Ms on that since it's integrated .

@@2020fsers Also sad that Toggle Head Tracking resets to default cockpit view and THEN pauses, rather than pausing where you’re looking. TrackIR does have this capability and it’s great for pausing rock-solid over switch consoles, GPS etc. Tobii discord says it’s Asobo’s fault, their hands are tied. 🙄 Guess I’ll have to refamiliarize with custom views. Thanks for ur video. After watching hundreds of tutorials cant make my quest 3 works propperly with a i9-14400k and a rtx 4080 super. In adittiion i only like vr for ga planes. This seems to be better with my fenix a320. My tobii is coming next week. Best regards
Thanks for the comment one other thing that you could try with the Toby is the open track software if you want more customization Of your different axis. In the open track software you would just select your input device as the Toby eye tracker I did a video on a free eye tracker software a little while ago on this application your output you would want to use free track. That's one of my complaints that I had with the Toby eye tracker is in Microsoft flight simulator they have limited customization meaning they are pairing up two different axes on one slider and that's not good the other thing is you may want to have asymmetrical Settings. That is also something that they don't allow in the Microsoft flight simulator settings for the Toby. Meaning if you want to set up a different angle For your head when you're turning right and turning left you can have each side set up differently so maybe one direction you want to turn your head more and the other direction you may not want to turn your head as much to get the same amount of movement. Just another suggestion with the Toby I didn't find this out until after I did a giveaway on this tobii so I can't do a video about it
I just found out about this Tobii device. I have a question about the monitors. Do you recommend a 3 screen setup, or a wide curved monitor (34" or 49")? Or something else? Also what would be better for msfs: monitor(s) or TV(s)? Thank you for this excellent review!
Thanks for the comment . Imo I feel 3 monitors is better than a single curved . This way, you'll be able to get a forward view and side views with 3 monitors. Tvs will be fine as long as they are 60hz . I use a TV myself and they are less expensive. It's only when frame rate needs to be 120fps for shooter games that you need a great TV 120hz or a monitor . With msfs 60 fps is fine so a 60hz TV will work .
Just ordered mine, after seeing your video. It should arrive in a couple of days. Can't wait... You should tell Tobii, you just sold one, cause of your video... 😉
Very good explanation, thanks. Does this also work when you use three screens in FSMS2020 or 3 screens in XPlane12? For example, if you look at the left screen, what do you actually see on that left screen? Please note that 3 screens in MSFS is not an extended view (according to Tobii-eyetracker-help this would only work with extended view). Is this purchase worthwhile in case of 3 screens? Hey. I've had this in mind for a few days and I've ordered mine today. I got the tripod mount as well as the flex mount for my 45 inch LG monitor. I'll have to see what works best. To set up, is it jest as easy to configure in X-Plane? I actually have the X-Planes and MSFS 2020. Thanks for any suggestions
Im not really sure about xplane but it can't be to hard . It's designed for all Sims. Let me know that tripod mount works for you I was curious myself about it.
I got the tripod and the bracket that fits on the tripod. The tripod doesn't fit because of my other peripherals and the size of my desk. But the bracket I may still use. Right now I'm using the flex mount bracket that came with the Tobii and is affixed to one of my Saitek radio panels. The flex mount bracket doesn't fit under my monitor due to louvers where the flex mount would go. It would not fit or stick. So it's going to have to be on the Saitek and tilts better there.
Great tutorial!!! d Does it work with multiple monitors? I have 2 32" monitors and did the calibration using the new software to calibrate the device mounted on a stand. Calibration went well but when I load a flight in MSF 2020 is doesn't work. The device is on but it is not tracking my eyes or my head. Any recommendation or solutions?
Can the sensor bar be mounted to the top of the monitor if your peripherals block the bottom of the monitor (for things like yokes, sim racing wheels, etc) ? Thank you for the video. Very helpful and step by step.
Probably not due to the mounting bar would need to be mounted upside down well at least on a curved monitor not giving you the ability to tilt down only up. I have a yoke as well in front of my monitor and it doesn't affect it . Also to calibrate the module can only be done if the eye tracker is on the bottom
Hi I have just ordered the tobii eye tracker but just noticed in your video that it has to be fitted in the centre bottom of the screen. But I have a control module for settings in the centre of my asus 42in monitor. Do you know if you can offset it to the side of the module ? It will be about 2 in of centre. Thanks .
they now have it available that you can actually put your tobi in the middle of your floor if you want to on a tripod ,so I assume at the top of your monitor would work as well
I'd like to know how well it works on the top of the monitor. Some of my peripherals in my simrig are a little higher than the bottom of the monitor and may block this thing.
I haven't used it on top of the monitor but They have come out with a tripod mount that you can mount in the middle of your room. So I'm sure you could mount it on top of the monitor now. But you may want to just send them an email and just verify. I would check for you, but I gave away the Tobii eye tracker in a giveaway so I don't have one to try that.
Good Morning, does It works with monitor Samsung Curve 49”? Someone declares that with this monitor works for all games except for MSFS. It is blocked by Microsoft when the risolution is 32:9.
No, it will, not, it's only gonna show 1 monitor at a time. You can see when I went through the calibration process on the right hand side of my actual monitor there was a little monitor icon so you could switch it between the other monitors that you have.
Thx for the video. I have an issue with enabling the Tobii. I use shift \ binding but the Tobii stays enabled when pressing those keys again. How do I cancel the enable function and just use regular viewing?Thx
They are dim but you can see them . You don't feel like lasers are shooting you in the face if that was a concern lol. I never really noticed them during play.
My experience with Tobii is I have had a few issues with the product. First is I downloaded an update and then my Tobii never connected. I had to go and research and then found I had to uninstall and reinstall all the software. That was annoying but what I find really annoying is when ever I try to adjust some settings I screw EVERYTHING up and there is no way to reset all the settings to factory default. It happens because when you change settings it changes the default instead of prompting you to save the settings under a new name. This way you can go back to full on factory default or as it works now...you can't!
I use both the Tobii 5 as well as the Pimax Crystal. One thing I have noticed is if Tobii 5 is installed the eye tracking on the Pimax does not work. I've used my phone's camera to see if the Pimax IR Leds are lit and they are not. If I uninstall the Tobii 5 from my system, Pimax eye tracking works fine. If I then re-install the Tobii5 it does not work. The other thing I have noticed is the in Device Manager there is 2 Eye Chip USB devices. It seems that the Tobii5 and eye tracking on the Pimax Crystal don't play well together. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Any fixes out there?
Yeah I guess that makes sense because they are both using tobii eye tracking . Have you tried to unplug the tobii eye tracker before you start the system and see if that allows you to use the pimax . Or make sure the tobii software isn't set to auto start when your pc boots. So this way the software isn't running . That may allow the pimax to work .
Looks like the "fix" is to unplug the Tobii5 and reboot. Eye tracking IR LEDs on the Pimax comes alive. Not a big deal but probably should report this as a bug to both the Tobii5 and Pimax teams.
@@2020fsers It was very odd because when I first plugged in the sensor there was no drivers that was automatically downloaded. So I went to the website and downloaded the driver and the experience app and then it proceeded to tell me each time that there was no Toby sensor detected. So I kept restarting the computer and then eventually a window is popped up talking about facial recognition for signing in. So I did that. Restarted the computer a couple of more times and then it magically worked. So I can't tell you exactly what I done, but if anybody else has issues you might be able to make a video on it.
BUYER BEWARE! It's a cool piece of kit, when it works. Have had mine for almost 5 months, I've been able to use it maybe 3 hours. Huge disclaimer with this product should be the god awful windows integration. Every time there's a windows update. It is a high chance you have to uninstall this unit, with a 3rd party software called REVO. This is the only way, because the Tobii cannot be installed if it detects even the smallest trace file of it ever being installed before. This also involves restarting your computer a few times for every attempt. I say attempt because this does not always work. I have done 23 reinstall attempts in a row, without it working. Sometimes it works the first time, sometimes it doesn't. I should also note that in those 5 months I have not received a single response from Tobii on my support tickets.
What I miss is a geature to 'freeze' the image while moving at a certain postion. If I now use my shoirtcut to go back to a static view it jumps back to the center view. Any solution for that?
Hmm i know exactly what you mean . When you pause you want the camera to to stay in that position. I don't think you can do anything about that . At least that I know of.
There has been a lot of complaints about this on the msfs forum. It is a msfs2020 problem. It has been on the wishlist to have this "fixed" but no action from Asobo. For Xplane the Tobii Game Hub provides the control and freeze works as expected. @@2020fsers

Is the eye tracker smart enough to ignore a second person in the room sitting next to the pilot?
That's a good question maybe someone can chime in here to answer that
Good Morning, does It works with monitor Samsung Curve 49”? Someone declares that with this monitor works for all games except for MSFS. It is blocked by Microsoft when the risolution is 32:9.
The tobii should and I personally know people using a 49inch curved monitor with msfs. I would reach out to tobii just to confirm.
Excellent présentation, question i am using a 3 monitore set will it show on all of them?
No, it will, not, it's only gonna show 1 monitor at a time. You can see when I went through the calibration process on the right hand side of my actual monitor there was a little monitor icon so you could switch it between the other monitors that you have.
Just remember if you switch it to another monitor you have to do another set up process
Thx for the video. I have an issue with enabling the Tobii. I use shift \ binding but the Tobii stays enabled when pressing those keys again. How do I cancel the enable function and just use regular viewing?Thx
There should be a toggle eye tracking key bind that's what I used
@@2020fsers thx for replying but I think I figured it out. My binds were all screwed up and I had to delete some and add different ones.
How bright are the flashing red lights on the Tobii in real life?
They look really bright and distracting in the videos.
They are dim but you can see them . You don't feel like lasers are shooting you in the face if that was a concern lol. I never really noticed them during play.
Does it work with a 49'' Monitor?
Yes it does
Great Tool 👍
Is there a way to slow down the tracker? It is very fast and it gets me queasy while flying.
Yes in the sensitivity you can create a larger dead zone or reduce the slider for yaw.
Any fix for tobii experience app saying "no tobii sensor has been found" ????
not that i am aware of . maybe some info on their discord
@@2020fsers randomly started working, there isn't many resources available. Thanks for the reply though!
@AiShadowyGuy your welcome sorry i couldn't help more
@@2020fsers It was very odd because when I first plugged in the sensor there was no drivers that was automatically downloaded. So I can't tell you exactly what I done, but if anybody else has issues you might be able to make a video on it.
when u look at the dots do u just look with eyes or move head
Move your eyes head stays still.
@@2020fsers Okies thanks
@@2020fsers when I keep my head still in msfs screen still moves I think I calibrated my eyes wrong
Thanks for the information I was not aware that they have these issues the one that I used in the video I did a giveaway on so I don't use Tobii
@@2020fsers I just got mine working today. I had 23 reinstall attempts with no solution. I got it to work by resetting my pc in windows.
@@2020fsers
I wish this to works for xbox too 😫
I know unfortunately not at this time.
its not working i followed the tutorial
Please be more specific .
The most user-unfriendly FS ever invented. Very hard to install and you have to be a pilot to fly with all the controls you have to control. Don't buy unless you are a super computer geek
19 minutes pure ad, wow. please say "tobii eyetracker 5" once again, i love hearing it so much!
Thanks for the comment . I guess you missed the entire tutorial on how to set it up and what the settings mean in msfs and how to adjust them. Yes the video is sponsored but I gave the best info and delivery on that info I could to help everyone setup and use the tobii. I make videos to help people and not sell people. If you were interested in the tobii I think me letting you know of the sale and the giveaway is great info to help you save money.
