    A great addition to the Tobii line up, adding versatility to suit your sim set up, but at a price that is difficult to make it a five star recommendation. To find the software download go to Tobii Gaming, accessories …Tobii Tripod. Download link is on this page gaming.tobii.com/product/tripod-bracket/

    I am glad to see this. This was desperately needed. My original mounting system gave out after about a month. I made my own mounting system that duplicates this new functionality using some scrap lumber and it has worked great ever since. Looking forward to general availability of the new calibration software.

    I got my tobii 5 a couple of years ago and love it, the only problem I had with it was the attachment - to fasten it to the monitor it used a couple of velco pads to stick under the monitor, then you would attach the tobi to that via magnetic strip. however the bezel of the bottom of the monitor gets very warm and over a few months the sticky back on the velco would not stick anymore. So now I had to find a box, make it the same height and now stand the tobii on that. I might look into getting the tripod, as I will soon be getting a new monitor and don't think the box will fit properly -- depends on monitor stands etc. However I still recommend the tobii 5 :)

    With my Tobii 5 I can adjust the ALL directional movement speeds to fast or slow and everything in between. Maybe this brilliant new software albeit on in ‘ Alfa ‘ Cartier’s to those who only want to sit to the side of the screen and not directly in front of the screen to fly. Their marketing research really must have shown this new mount and software was needed and worth investing in. I personally would not fly without Tobii 5 it’s brilliant but this new offering at the price mind boggling for what it does. With that said Mark as always thank you for this informative content.

      Fantastic comment FSRobert! Well I did feedback to them that the adhesive they use was not all that heat resistant and when hot caused the bracket to fall off my monitor. Good news indeed if they listen to their customers. However I will not shell out 40 euros for a piece of bent metal and a magnet. Tobii need to severely reduce the price. 10 euros seems about right. At this level of pricing it's about 20% of the cost of the Tobii eye tracker itself!. Ridiculous. I hope Mark got it for free.

    I love this Sim! Thanks for the review. Based on your reviews, I also use the Honeycomb and Brava flight controls. I'd really like to add the Tobii to my experience. So, enough said. I'm in! But, I do have one question please: My rig is using the 4090 RTX, I have a 'cockpit' of 3 x 32" 4k monitors. I believe you taught me how to use the experimental feature of MSFS to make the outer monitors expand my visuals. So, I have a very amazing view of my environment. What I wish I had, is more visual control over the cockpit... up, down, side to side. Currently, I have to grab my mouse and spin the wheel, rotate, up, down, sideways. I think the Tobii would be such a terrific addition. Only, what would that do to the view I see in my secondary monitors? Nothing? Is Tobii just managing the center/primary monitor? Thanks Sim for your continued very valuable instructional information! I'm very close to grabbing the H3 as well. I found the HP G2 was a bit too immersive for me as far as VR is concerned. I could only fly for 20 minutes and then I felt quite exhausted. But, it's very nice to have it as an option. By the way, could you speak to Windows 11 decrementing support for Mixed Reality and thus making the HP G2 VR headset a boat anchor. I might not upgrade beyond Win11 23H2 so I retain the VR capability. But, I hate to not be current with my OS due to security updates. Best regards and thanks for a reply to this. I'm very keen on the Tobii.

      The mounting bracket will not add to my Tobii basket to checkout. I have notified them. But, I did get a 15% discount on the tracker device itself. But, I sense that because the Honeycomb gear is so bulky in front of my monitor which naturally sits lower, this bracket mounted as you have it, must be a valuable tech addition. I hope they solve it. Jerry April 1 2004. I just realized today's April Fools... perhaps that has something to do with it? ;-) I'm excited about the added freedom in the cockpit!

    I use both the Tobii 5 as well as the Pimax Crystal. One thing I have noticed is if Tobii 5 is installed the eye tracking on the Pimax does not work. I've used my phone's camera to see if the Pimax IR Leds are lit and they are not. If I uninstall the Tobii 5 from my system, Pimax eye tracking works fine. If I then re-install the Tobii5 it does not work. The other thing I have noticed is the in Device Manager there is 2 Eye Chip USB devices. It seems that the Tobii5 and eye tracking on the Pimax Crystal don't play well together. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Any fixes out there?

    I tried to run the new software and it worked but I couldn’t get it to be recognized by MSFS. The Tobii experience app was complaining about needing the display to be selected and calibrated again. Just like the warning on the download page says. So I did the display selection and normal calibration and then the alpha software calibration is lost. Ended up needing to quit and restart Tobii experience to get the sim to recognize it. Seems kinda buggy still. I realize it’s alpha.
    Could you explain the order of operations that worked for you? Like when the sim is started, alpha calibration run, and any subsequent interaction with the regular Tobii experience interface. Thanks!!

    Thank-you Mark for the review of the new Tobii accessory to its Eye Tracker. I have 2 plausible workarounds for those not willing to pay the roughly $40 (USD) for what is essentially a piece of angle-iron. Nevertheless, for those not willing to experiment or not at all mechanically inclined, I believe they should purchase this “tried and true” mount.
    For those who wish to use their Tobii Eye Tracker on a tripod, there are very inexpensive cellphone mounts which may be adapted to hold the Eye Tracker. Online, I have found most of these mounts to be under $15 (USD).
    For those who wish to be more industrious and position their Eye Tracker in a similar manner you did, they need three materials to make the mount: a wooden block, duct tape, and a piece of metal that attracts magnets or a refrigerator magnet. Attach the metal/refrigerator magnet to the wooden block with the duct tape, and voilà! Of course, substitute whatever materials one might have on hand, but this is the gist.
    Please do note that I have no qualms paying for the work of others. But given what I paid when purchasing my Tobii Eye Tracker, I believe this mount should be an included accessory.
    Again, thank-you sir for your review. I look forward viewing your next post.

      @scottmcdonaldAAL211 11 месяцев назад

      For those with large monitors (like Mark's), the tripod bracket combined with the alpha calibration software (I posted a link on this site) represents a plausible workaround that may yield the benefits of Tobii ET5 while using a larger-than-recommended display where you (typically) are sitting much further away from the Tobii than if you had a typical (smaller) desktop monitor. In that use case, the bracket makes sense, and free shipping to your home is included for the 40 USD. Yeah, it's pricey, but if it gives you a rock solid Tobii experience, more power to ya! The huge monitor/TV (e.g. Mark's) typically do not have a good spot to mount the Tobii anyway, and the tripod bracket taped to your yoke (as Mark did) is an elegant solution to a serious problem.

    I have a Flight Velocity panel. It stands pretty high mounted to the front edge of my desk. I had to sit my monitor on books to get it high enough for my Tobi 5 to have enough clearance above the flight panel. I decided to try mounting the Tobi directly to my Flight Panel. It works great. All I had to do was re-calibrate it. Now my monitor is lowered to a more sensible height and my stiff neck is thanking me ! I just have it stuck on with 3 small blobs of BluTac.

    I did not buy the bracket, but I did try the new software and can immediately see and feel a significant improvement without adjusting sensitivities in MSFS. Smoother tracking, Gaze is noticeably more stable and precise and better range of head rotation. I've only done a couple of flights for but the Tracking is noticeably improved overall. Mark: I obtained the TET5 and the tripod bracket, might I ask what is the tripod you are showing in your video? I have the Alpha and Bravo yoke/TQ clamped to my desk and same 48" monitor as you. I am unsure about using double-sided tape as when not flying sim, I rest my keyboard atop my alpha/bravo, so the TET5 would be 'in my way' when I want to type, unless I were to place my logi keyboard on my lap, which is not super convenient. I'm hoping a flexible tripod might be better for my use case - would appreciate if you could point me at it on Amazon or one just like yours, please? I can't really see myself moving the TET5 using a magnetic clip taped to my flight controls as it would be out of calibration all the time, yeah? Thanks, Mark.

      Some feedback for Tobii. I installed the cal sw - the coloured position slider buttons move fully left when clicked on and won't stay anywhere else; the actual cal works OK; Tobii switches off when I exit the app; the rectangular slider will not stay in the postion I want. Thanks.
