      Mouse control in msfs sucks on the ground when taxiing because when looking around with the mouse it freezes control inputs! So if you enter a left turn then pan before easing control pressure, the left pressure will stay on! Shocking design. Same with braking etc. I have my hatswitch configured for quicklook

    I think when not using VR a head or eye tracker is a must have in MSFS! It's a so much better experience. Now I personally use TrackIR, but thought about buying Tobii because you don't need anything additional attached to your head. Now it would be great to have a comparison - maybe you'll get TrackIR to sponsor a review too :)

      I have a vr headset but still use sometimes the trackir5 as it is higher fps and better visuals on my 32 inch 4k monitor, and much more confortable. Instruments are more readable. My vr headset i bought in 2017 was the best at the time with OLED 90hz and 1440x1600 per eyes but it is not a 4k monitor, and the fps is divided by more than 2 and that by reducing high/ultra to medium. It still good from time to time for vfr to use the vr headset and use the trackir5 for more technical flight.

    I've been using the Tobii Eye tracker 5 for a few months now and I like it. I don't use it during the whole flight though in MSFS. Mostly do the same you do during taxi, take off, landing and taxi again. I don't use it for pre-flight, post-flight and during flight unless I want to sight see. I do use it 100% of the time for DCS though. I like it so much that I barely use my Meta Quest 2. No problems with the Meta Quest 2 but Tobii allows me to actually see my keyboard and control buttons, etc., which I find better. One thing you didn't mention is that Tobii allows you to unlock your PC instead of keyboard as it's certified for this. It also works with many other games. I've been meaning to use it for Codemasters F1 2022 but I haven't played that game for a while. But I also recommend it. People just need to be patient and play around with the axis sensitivity and settings. Good luck to the winner.

    I have been using TrackIR for many years, I love it. Other than not having to wear a hat or a headset, I don't understand the benefit of the eye tracker. I get that it tracks your head movements, and it looks as though it does a great job. But what's the deal with the actual eye tracking? How do you benefit from it? Can you map a button so when you look at something (gear lever, switch, button etc..) you can interact with it while looking at it, like you would with a mouse pointer and left/right click?

    Thanks to this video just picked this up, I used your link don't know if you get anything from it. This was the next step for me. I used to have track IR but I hated having to wear something all the time so I switched to notrackir with a logitech camera. This worked well for driving and truck sims where I only had to look left and right but constantly had to be reset, but it was worth the tradeoff for not having to wear anything. However for flight sims where you had to look down and up it was horrible. VR is great but similar to trackir I hate wearing things on my head (even headphones). Im hoping this is the natural next step, my only grievance is that it has to stick to one monitor so I can't use it on my racing rig but the old logitech method will do for that. On a side note thanks for the content, I found this channel a few weeks back and its a daily watch for me now! As a somewhat large youtuber myself I can tell you put in the effort and are well on your way to 100k!

    Thanks for sharing your settings. I own a Tobii 5 since 2 weeks now, and I still don't know if I like it in MSFS. During taxi its awesome, during flight for looking around too. In the fixed camera positions you can't move normally you can with your eye tracker, thats pretty cool. But its sometimes too sensitive in my opinion, when you look to your instruments, I dont want the whole "head" to move. After that is takes too long to go back to center or looking trough window. I'm thinking shutting down the eye tracking and only use the head tracking might work. First gonna try your settings. Thanks for this video. And I love the Tobii in all other games I use it with, just not sure for MSFS, as sometimes looking with the mouse is more efficient.

    First of all, this is an excellent video on how to fly does heavy aircraft, aside from the use of the eyetracker. I recently bought a very high-end machine running a 4090 card, and the 7800 X 3-D processor, and I think it can easily handle the processing needed for these are trackers. What I’d like to know is how better is this than using a program such as FacetrackNoIR? I install this in my computer, and it seems to track my head quite nicely. You do have control of all the input curves, but I really haven’t found the perfect curves yet that allow me to move my head without this tracker going all over the place. I’m looking at either this eyetracker or the track IR system and I’m still on the fence of which one to get. Please help me make this decision. Do I drop the big bucks with this I tracker or do I go for the lower dollars with the hat, mounted tracker, or do I just fine-tune the current free face tracking software that I have?

    Thanks for the great video - I have Track IR, VR and Tobii 5. Have to say all these methods fit different circumstances. Sometimes I want to play VR and thats fine, other times i'll settle in for a longer play session and have plenty of time therefore i'll use Track IR and if I just want to get in game quickly and not bother with a headset or headphones for Track IR then Tobii is ideal. This is also true of other flight sims such as DCS. Therefore, all the methods have a purpose - but for pure ease of use and no hassle Tobii is excellent and very, very good.

      @A330Driver  Год назад +1

    • @dokken1212
      @dokken1212 Год назад

      @@A330Driver Hi 737 - I would say that TrackIR is a more 'mature' product and works very well indeed particularly in flight sims like DCS where you are, at times, moving your head very quickly. Tobii can struggle with this quick movement and can be a bit jerky too when moving quickly. However, Tobii for MSFS is ideal as there is no real need to be moving your head at quick speeds as its a more leisurely experience. So for me TrackIR can be more responsive for games like DCS, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen etc. when engaging in 'combat' whereas Tobii is better suited to slower paced sims like MSFS, ETS2 etc. I do use Tobii on DCS sometimes but it's responsiveness can be a barrier at times in 'combat' as it is not quite as responsive as TrackIR.

    I use my webcam + OpenTrack (which is free of charge) for this - anyway it's always a bit strange for me to move my head while starring at the screen with my eyes. I think nothing really can beat VR here besides a full 6DOF rig. However first I need a proper computer to run such a VR setup, but it's is planned so the Tobii would be just some waste of money for me right now.

    I've had the tobii for a few months now and use it when not in VR. I use it much the same way you do. I tend to leave it off during pre-flight and use the view keys to select views. Especially in the 737 as it doesn't use the lock on system for switches like the CRJ. The features I miss the most is the ability to pause it and leave it in it's current position rather than having the view reset like it does when you turn it off. I'd also like it to reverse the position movement when you look behind you in the simulator so left/right head movement isn't so confusing. Good morning Emmanuel I recently watched one of your old videos when you gave your impressions of vr. I seriously would like you to give it another chance on a modern cpu/gpu many advancements Have been made since then. while the eye tracker is nice it’s still not natural to look left or right but keep your eye on the monitor. I promise you my vr setup is silky smooth and once you go 3d you’ll never go back to flat again

      Hi Rob,
      My old VR video was made with a 3080Ti, except for getting a 4090 I really don't see how I could do great improvements there to get better fps.
      And then there still is the problem that I could hardly read my instruments, even when maxing the settings out.

      @spediegunz Год назад

      @@A330Driver yes i have a 3090ti, so i imagine 4090 will make a huge difference especially paired with a 12th or 13th gen cpu. As far as settings use dlss instead of taa and openxr toolkit set to a really high resolution.
      For me personally I’m doing 40 fps over nyc and 50 to 60 fps anywhere else. But I definitely understand how things where choppy and stuttering back then why you have your reservations about vr. When you do eventually give it a try again I’m looking forward to your updated vr impressions video, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

      Im running top specs with a top headset in 2024. I can say that despite its looking nice its not quite the same as a clear monitor...settings are all correct and things just look like a dream states but not like a 4k monitor. Its just not the same. I use the Tobii 5 and its amazing and ease of use. I also can dogfight easier with trackir since I can spot......and the hmd just get too uncomfortable after a while even the lighter ones. There are so many other factors I can go into, why its not ideal. For the quick 20 minute flight fine....to feel the depth perception etc.....and feel that slightly extra immersion.....but its not good for anything longer....and all the faff around it. Maybe in 10 years time they will have something to consider - maybe contact lenses ......but until then........we shall see. @@spediegunz

    Question from someone who has never used an eye or head tracker: Given that we must obviously always be looking at the monitor, isn't awkward or un-natural to turn our head say right to signal the device that we want to look "right" in the cockpit, but then have to gaze to the *_left_* to keep seeing the monitor, because our head is no longer pointing at the monitor itself? Is this even an issue? Is it something simple to get used to?

      Indeed it is as first, took me two or three days until I was comfortable with it.

      Another feature missing is the "TrueView" feature. With this enabled, let's say you're looking left through the left window, or say you're looking at the ipad mounted on the left window. To get a closer look, you could lean forward (I mean toward the left window). Without TrueView, if you did that, it would lean you closer to the front window instead of the left one (which is the one you're facing). Meaning without TrueView, the front of the cockpit remains your front no matter where you're facing, but With TrueView, wherever you're facing is your front. My tobii is nicely mounted on my monitor, but at this point, it's a decoration, and that's because of these 2 features TrueView and Freeze.

    I don't agree with any of this. I've tried the Tobii tracker for weeks and it has major faults. First - it has a lot of lag and jerkiness even with vsync enabled. It doesn't have proper 6 degrees of movement because pitch and yaw are controlled by the same slider, as are left/right up/down and forward/back which are ALL linked to the same control, so you cannot set ANY of these individually. I returned to my trusted joystick and keyboard controls which are just as good and unlike the Tobii, completely stable.
