What I’d have given for a video like this 13 years ago when I was starting to get to grips with study level flight sim add-ons. Stumbling across pirated FCOMs on the internet and thinking they were gold dust. 4000hrs Airbus later and still love the job. Keep up the awesome work!
Haha, well thanks very much Al, very kind of you to say! It sounds like we both had the same "problems" back in the day; limited access to the internet and very little content covering this sort of thing for sure. Pretty much anything I learnt came out of manuals, off websites, or perhaps the odd VHS / DVD. I still have some pirated FCOM's kicking around on my hard drive haha XD Cheers again for the kind words! Much appreciated. I'm glad you got to where you wanted to be! All the best : )
@Top hat Animation As also just a PPL I'd gather that with at least the Fenix A320 being based on ProSim and ProSim being usable in EASA certified FTD level 1 FSTDs (according to their website) I guess it makes a really great training tool, at the minimum when it comes to the systems? Since EASA FTD level 1 requires (among other things): "FSTD systems shall simulate applicable aeroplane system operation, both on the ground and in flight. Systems shall be operative to the extent that all normal, abnormal, and emergency operating procedures can be accomplished." Full FTD 1 requires quite a bit more of course and mostly lots of hardware. Overall to me it's still really amazing what's available today for so little money, at least in aviation terms 😉
Hi Top Hat, Haha, well I was a simmer for many years, before I ever flew and I’ve always felt that simming is a very enjoyable hobby in its own right (it’s nice to be able to relax and not have to worry about the CAA / FAA etc, no 5am starts either haha). Of course none of us would pretend that a home flight simulator gets everything right, but it’s often incredible what one can actually achieve with a PC flight sim these days! On the Minecraft point, I fear I’ve finally become “too old”, to understand the kids of today haha XD All the best : )
Hi vEldavisiz, I’m not sure whether this question was aimed at myself or the original poster? As far as I go, I prefer not to divulge details about who I work for etc, but I fly the Airbus in the real world, I’ve flown a number of members of the Airbus family over the years. So I’m not on the Boeing, but I enjoy flying it in the sim haha. Cheers, all the best! : )
The initial image of the Ryanair Boeing 737-800 sat on stand, in the rain with air stairs connected despite the fact it's parked next to an air bridge is the most ryanair image I've ever seen....made me a giggle a little. 😂😂
Another great video. Thanks. Makes you feel you're a passenger also priviledged to be up in the cockpit (remember those days?) Stunning view of breaking through the second cloud layer into the sunshine - never gets old. Just love your 'study level' videos.
Thanks very much once again AS! I'm really glad you felt like "part of the flight", that's certainly the sort of vibe that I try to create. It's such a shame that a visit to the flight deck is no longer really an option. Real videos are of course great, but often you can't show everything; whilst not the real thing, I hope videos like this still offer some value : ) Thanks for watching and all the best!
You can indeed, SSB, though these days, most airlines will only allow one to visit the flight deck on the ground; back in the day, it used to be possible to visit at pretty much any point throughout the flight (and on some occasions, even sit in for the landing etc : ) Apologies if I’m stating the obvious haha. Cheers, all the best!
Thanks very much PW, really glad you enjoyed the video : ) Yeah, those sorts of touches are always really nice and certainly add to the immersion (though perhaps it would put me out of the job haha); FBW are actually one of the furthest ahead developers, when it comes to those sorts of touches. FSRealisitic does indeed add much of what you're after, but it is of course another purchase (a good one though I think). Cheers and all the best!
Hi Emanuel, As Kingsman points out, I'm on RUclips. I don't generally "stream" per se, but I usually upload about once a week; lots of reviews, but a variety of content overall. I am thinking that I might try my hand at streaming some time in the future, but not for the time being. Thanks for watching and all the best! : )
Thanks very much Kingsman, really glad you felt immersed and enjoyed the video! On a side note, I see you have become a channel member! Thank you ever so much for your generosity, I'm really glad you're enjoying the content to such a degree. Please feel free to email me at intotheblueinbox@gmail.com and I'll get back to you with some details about membership : ) Cheers and all the best!
Thanks very much Peter, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I do in fact have a couple more 737 videos lined up and ready to go at some point (both an 800 and 600 video). My pleasure and all the best to you! : )
I was hoping you would do a RyanAir 'Stick-It-To-The-Runway' landing where the majority of passengers yell out and some suffer vertebrae damage. Loved this video!
Haha, sorry to disappoint Stewie - I couldn't face all of the virtual lawsuits from you horrible lot XD Really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
Haha, I do apologise, Kagan. It’s not the first time I’ve received such a comment; of course, I want everyone to be able to enjoy my videos but, Ive found it surprisingly hard to slow down my natural rate of speech (I can do so if I make a concerted effort but, as soon as I get engrossed in the flight again and forget, I just default back to my natural tempo). I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise and I do hope my pace didn’t ruin it too much for you! Many thanks for watching and all the best to you : )
I've worked in aviation for thirty years, and this short trip across the Irish Sea is very evocative as I was brought up in Dublin. A short sortie in a 737 but a world apart.
The PMDG 737 is certainly a massive improvement over the default jets. MSFS still isn’t quite up there with X-Plane in terms of flight dynamics, but it’s pretty much on a par with any other civilian sim at this point (in terms of payware aircraft at least). There are some really nice aircraft options now, with the PMDG 737, Fenix A320, Just Flight 146, Leonardo Maddog etc. Cheers!
We’d both be in for a scary ride if I was, Dylan! I’m not actually rated on the 737, nor do I fly for Ryanair haha ; ) I’m on the Airbus in the real-world, but I enjoy flying the 737 in the sim, just for something a bit “different”. I hope you had a nice time in Alicante! Cheers and all the best : )
PMDG should add a company option to have flashing landing lights. I believe it is an option that some companies opt for to help deter birds from approaching an aircraft.
Hi CAT III, As DAS mentions, I do seem to recall that is actually an option included with the 800 (don't think they're much use for shifting virtual birds though haha). All the best : )
Thanks again John, really glad you enjoyed it (I definitely put some sweat and blood into this one haha)! Not one to inflate my own videos usually, but I wholeheartedly agree that they're much better than a lot of what you can find on the TV these days - sadly that isn't a high bar to meet though XD Oh gosh. I managed about 2hrs down to Spain once (it was the only direct flight haha). The flight was okaaay in fairness, but I try to avoid giving Ryanair my money just on principle haha. All the best! : )
Ah damn - 50 / 50 chance on that one haha. I had though Ryanair being Ryanair, they might prefer the more aft CofG, but I'll know for next time now then ; ) Thanks for the info UKAI! Much appreciated and all the best : )
I hate flying IRL but would feel so much better if every time I flew somewhere I had a pilot that was this confident in their announcements. Most pilots on my recent flights have sounded half asleep or talk so quietly you can't hear anything that is being said over the intercom.
Hi Mr Tili, I didn’t use GSX for this video (just the default MSFS ground handling), though I have subsequently purchased the addon. So far I’ve had mixed experiences with GSX and tend to use it only for cinematic purposes, as opposed to actually using it when simming. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks and all the best : )
I have the PMDG 737-800 on FSX (along with 6 other PMDG aircraft) I am going to wait until they get all the issues sorted out and the final product is a little more...polished before I get this for 2020. Lovely video though. Makes you feel like you're there. The background audio is a nice touch.
Thanks VH, really glad you enjoyed the video! I certainly try my best to make these sorts of vids an immersive experience. Fair enough on holding off. There's no major rush of course; I'm sure their entire product line-up will still be available in the coming months and should indeed have a little more polish ; ) Cheers and all the best! : )
Hi Hathal, Good question! Well up until recently, that was actually the SOP used by my company, so I tend to work around those SOP's when simming. That being said, the SOP was actually changed not too long ago and we now set TARA whilst lining up (which I believe is more in-line with most other operators). So yes, from now on I shall have to remember the new procedure, both in the sim and at work XD Cheers and all the best : )
Thank you very much Paul, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! I wasn’t recording in VR, rather I was using a head-tracker (TrackIR to be precise). I hope that helps? Cheers and all the best : )
Learning the aircraft and wow, I couldn't ask for a better video. Moving from the FBW A320 to the 737-800, definitely a different aircraft to get used to. Thanks again :)
Hi MrNLNG, Well, thanks very much and my absolute pleasure! I’m really glad you found the video useful. Much appreciated and all the best for your continued learning : )
Hey Blitz, I have not, but I do keep meaning to try out some of these ATC addons. . . It's always a question of finding the time to do so haha, but I'll certainly take a look and keep it in mind. Cheers! : )
What do you use to record your flights? Ive tried using the built in replay tool but it does not show the speed brakes upon landing or the flaps for the PDMG 737. Any info on this? Thanks. Great video
Hi Ethan, I use a 3rd party recording tool, which can be found here: flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder I record the flight and then use the replay for any external shots that I wish to capture. Afterwards, I then edit the external shots into the video. Much like the in-built replay tool, the recorder won’t necessarily pick up the correct aircraft configurations, so sometime I have to manually set the flaps, arm the speedbrakes etc, before recording the shot. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! I hope the above helps. All the best! : )
Hi Mike, Good question. It really depends on short term vs long term climb performance. If one wants to get from the ground up to cruising altitude as quickly as possible, then flying at the best rate of climb speed will achieve that (reducing speed, will reduce overall climb performance). However, if one wants a short term increase in climb performance (perhaps to clear weather, or meet an altitude restriction etc), then speed can be reduced / traded, allowing for a momentary higher vertical speed (at the cost of then having to accelerate again later on). Does that help a little? All the best : )
I had the dubious pleasure of many BHX to DUB and back flights for Ryanair over the years (I quit a few years ago for an easier life). Really great video. Some pointers for extra FR emersion if you'd like them (you'd probably never know them unless you were Ryanair) There's no real way of knowing them outside of the airline in question but every departure would have an engine out procedure and an initial Minimum Flap Retraction Altitude (normally 1000' AAL unless terrain is a factor). This would be set in the Minima window on the ground (I think it was something like 1360 in BHX?) The master cautions on engine start would be cancelled, otherwise the would mask an unexpected caution. We'd just about always use intersection C from that stand for departure (time is money which is everything to FR and the cabin crew would be super-quick doing the demos) At flaps up we'd go straight to VNAV typically and once cleared above the 6000' restriction at LUVUM, use the ALT INT button to remove the restriction/s (or delete from the FMC). LVL CHG wasn't used too much in a climb. FR didn't really like us briefing in the descent. It's a short cruise segment, but we'd do our best to set up and brief before top of descent. I wouldn't have worried about 5kts excess speed in the descent (the speed brake lever was known as the 'stick of shame' in FR!) Great CDA into DUB (managing the the descent/speed is an art in the 800). In reality it would have been RWY 28 on the day I guess? AB 2 may have raised an eyebrow or two on the flight deck on such a short runway. FR always do low (proper low) drag approaches, generally Gear Down/F15 at 4 miles, though for flaps 40 landing with a tailwind I'd have used 5NMs to be fully configured by the 500' 'gate' (technically 1000' as it was IMC). Otherwise though, miles better than I would have done before I was doing it for real. The airports looked really realistic to me (except very quiet) and the flight deck bang on (though suspiciously clean!)
Forgot to say, Ryanair use (or did when I left) Cost Index 6 which can lead to some funnies at lower cruise levels such as with BHX-DUb (like a Mach no. less than .6 which is the minimum that can be set in the speed window on the MCP and a decent IAS a little bit faster than the cruise one.)
Hi Welsh Rambler, thanks very much for the very informative post! Always great to hear from someone in the know. Haha, well who knows, maybe it was you who took me over to Dublin all those years ago! It's funny you mention the minimum flap retraction altitude / MDA setting, it's not something I was aware of until just the other day (we don't really do anything similar on the Airbus), when I saw your post and one of Flightdeck2Sim's videos almost concurrently. I'm not sure one would have made all that much sense without the other haha. Noted on the Master Caution. I'm not sure why that didn't occur to me at the time, but I've added it to my checklist, so hopefully I won't forget in any future videos. It's interesting, I've been picked up a couple of times on using LVL CHG : I guess I'm trying to fly the Boeing like an Airbus, which of course isn't ideal (and doesn't always work out well ha), but equally I'm conscious that I don't want to form too many Boeing habits, that I might then ended up taking to work with me. I'll try and remember ALT INT though, I often tend to forget it's there - ooops. Briefing in the descent is just a little concession for the videos. It's generally the same ethos in my company, but doing so allows me to "kill two birds with one stone" as it were, demonstrating the descent and filling in the gaps with the briefing. Haha, for sure a very shameful effort there on the speedbrakes! XD I think again, it's just a question of getting used to the 737; it seems to prioritise the VNAV path over the speed, in the Airbus it's sort of the other way around (and she doesn't like to go down and slow down). I'm sure it would have been RWY28 in reality yes, but I tend to go with whatever Simbrief has given me, primarily out of force of habit. I suppose I ought to be a touch less lazy and just change the runway selection to a more realistic one. Again, the configuration was based on Airbus / my company SOP's and not wishing to deviate outside of those too much. I must say though, I perhaps didn't appreciate just how conservative our SOP's are - gear down and not fully configured at *4 miles* you say?! haha Re autobrake: Again, I was going with Airbus-ism's. Low autorbake is used the vast majority of the time, Med occasionally. What is a typical autobrake setting in the 737 and what would you have used in this instance? I really enjoy flying the 737 in the sim and it looks as though it's probably quite a bit more fun to operate than the Airbus in reality haha. So thanks very much for the info, very much appreciated! I'd imagine working for FR must have been pretty tough going at times, so I hope you are indeed enjoying a slightly more balanced pace of living these days. Cheers and all the best : )
That’s true HKR, the sim is a bit weak on that front. FS Realistic goes some way towards improving things (not the gear suspension physics, but the rest of what you mention), but it’s a payware addition and of course it would be nice to have this sort of stuff in the sim as default. Cheers! : )
Hi Kalidilerious, I don't have a video covering it I'm afraid, but for the "replays" I use a 3rd party recording tool, which can be found here: flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder I record the flight and then use the replay for any external shots that I wish to capture. Afterwards I then edit the external shots into the video. It's not done live as it may seem. Wing views are available via the External "Fixed Camera" in MSFS. I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Hello Chris, It’s always a little bit tricky to get a “realistic” view on a 2D monitor, as you have to balance what’s in your direct field of view vs what would be in your peripheral vision. I use a 50% zoom level for most aircraft in the sim and I find this gives a good balance between the viewpoint and being able to read the instruments. I haven’t tried 0.35, but that sounds a little bit too zoomed out to me. . . I hope that helps a little? All the best : )
Hi Obi, I was indeed using AI traffic. In this particular video, I was using AIG traffic however, these days I tend to use FSLTL. I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best! : )
Hi EG, It's a bit of both really: In reality, pilots generally do everything from memory and then confirm the correct procedures have been followed with a checklist thereafter. As I'm not all that familiar with the Boeing, I have a sheet to guide me through the workflows (though I've more or less committed them to memory at this point) and then I'm using a real-world checklist to follow up. I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Haha, thanks very much indeed Harry! I’ve had my fair share of nice comments to date, but I don’t think I’ve ever been called a legend XD Very much appreciated! All the best : )
Ah well I hope you’re able to make that happen at some point then! Have you looked into the cloud gaming version of the sim - that could be a good option in the meantime? : )
I have a few problems and I've already tried to re install it, first off all my rudders turn but the aircraft docent steer, I see the rudders moving in the cockpit but on the ground they don't work yes the yaw damper is on, plus my parking break docent work, I turn it on and it flickers to on and imidiattly back to off idk what to do...
Hi ITA, There is a configuration option within the CDU, that will sort out your rudder issues. It sounds like currently you have the rudder and nosewheel steering set on separate axis - you will need to select the option to have them both operate off your rudder axis. For the park brake; you need to hold down the brakes *and then* select the park brake on. As per the real aircraft, the park brake will not set if the lever is pulled in isolation. I hope that helps! All the best : )
Hello Chris, No working weather radar, no, but that’s fairly typical of MSFS payware, as the default Asobo implementation is very limited at the moment (it’s supposed to be improved at some point, but it’s been taking a very long time). TCAS certainly seems to work to some degree, though most of the TA’s I’ve experienced, seem to have been spurious , during the approach to the airport haha (I haven’t had the opportunity to test the TCAS system in any depth). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
Hi TBP, You need to go into "General Options" and then "Assistance", there you can choose to turn off "Instrument Name Tooltips". I hope that helps! All the best : )
The video is essentially vanilla MSFS, though I do often spend a lot of time tweaking the weather / time of day, as both of those settings can make a huge difference as to how MSFS looks. I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Thanks very much Yasin, glad you enjoyed it! For the camera movement, I am using a head-tracking device called TrackIR. It's great, although a little pricey; there are cheaper / "freeware" alternatives available, that will achieve a similar effect, should you wish to try it out for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Hi Steve, I'm probably not the best person to answer your question, given that I'm an Airbus man by trade, but from the little that I do know of the 737, I think it is a very accurate recreation of the aircraft - certainly on a par with the Fenix A320. Graphically the 737 is a touch below some of the competition as it stands (PMDG are planning an upgrade I believe), but systems fidelity and performance to the numbers is pretty much second to none it would appear. I hope that helps a little! All the best : ) PS, consider the 600 as well - it's half the price and the same level of fidelity ; )
Hi, does anyone know how to map the LNAV on Autopilot to a controller button? I've had a look through the general control options but can't see LNAV? Thanks.
Hi Jayrer, I’m afraid I’m not sure on that one myself. I suspect someone over on the PMDG forums might be able to help, but otherwise hopefully someone gets back to you here. I hope you manage to figure things out. All the best! : )
Yes, Your video just great. However, I don't get answer to my question. QESTION 2) What Ground service program are you using for the airport? Is it GSXPro, or something different program? Just guessing is it paid program for EGBB? The mean time thanks for your time. 3) During fly what ATC are you on? Is it VATSIM or something else? The mean time thanks for your time.
Hi Leo, Well thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Unless I’ve missed something, I did reply to your previous question (regarding the scenery in use)? To answer your other questions: 2) The ground services used in this video, were a combination of the default MSFS ground services and a selection that comes with the PMDG 737 itself. 3) The ATC is real-world recordings, which I then edit into the video. There is an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps a little? All the best!
I want to learn a Jetliner as a template for more in depth Jetliners,. So, what would you suggest as my 1st Jetliner, it needs to be a basic and easy as can be, easy to program MCDU?
I’ve given it some thought Dave; honestly, as boring as the answer is, I think the default A320 probably best fits your description. Unfortunately, its a bit tricky to find something right in the niche that you’re looking for, since an addon will either be so basic, that you won’t be able to learn what you need to, or it’ll be moderately complex at the very least. The default A320’s MCDU is fairly simplified, whilst still having enough depth that you can learn the basics of setting it up (you can also simply set the flight plan up from the world map and it will import automatically to the MCDU). The autopilot, whilst a little bit tricky to learn initially, is actually quite intuitive once you get the hang of it and given that most systems on the Airbus are automated, you can learn them at your own pace. Being a default aircraft though, the A320 does have its peculiarities and shortfalls. Once you’ve gotten to grips with it, another nice bonus of the 320, is that you can move onto the FBW A320 mod, which has a lot more depth. Another great option, if you want a more “grass roots” jet, is the CJ4. I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations The default A320 was on the shortlist anyways and looks to be a good grounding, the A320 it is then. Helped immensely, thank you.
My pleasure Dave! Hopefully this series might prove to be of some help also: ruclips.net/p/PLaI08doFZ-LLwILOP5X4Ehloc4Ux5eVNg Best of luck with it all : )
At 7:04 you see waypoint GARTI altitude 3000 feet, the flight computer calculates where to start the descent from cruise altitude, to hit this altitude at this waypoint ideally on idle thrust. It's all on autopilot.
Hi Been, Are you asking with regards to the 737 specifically, or in a more general sense? For the 737 itself; there will be a little green “T/D” (Top of Descent) circle on the Navigation Display, as well as a distance readout on the PROG page (I believe the CRZ page will show the same thing also). This top of descent is calculated by the aircraft, but is also dependent on having the correct data entered into the FMC. In a more general sense, 3 X your altitude is a good rule of thumb for when to descend, 4X for some jets (there are more accurate ways of calculating the profile, but it would be a bit too nuanced to get into here). I hope that helps a little? All the best : )
Hi P5OLO, I was just using a combination of the default cameras and moving the cockpit camera around. For the cabin view I had to use the drone cam, for the wing views I used the “External - Fixed Camera presets” and for the nose cam I just moved cockpit camera into position using the default controls. I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Hi Christoph, I was playing / recording using a monitor (in 1080p). I use head-tracking, as opposed to VR, in the vast majority of my videos. I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )
Great video and such a great addon. I wasn’t really a 737 fan to begin with, but PMDG won me over with this one. Can’t wait for their 777! When you have multiple airways you can input just the airways on the left side and the aircraft will fill in the waypoints between them automatically. Need to verify that it’s entering the right ones of course, but it hasn’t given me any wrong ones yet. You can also enter the arrival transition FL on the descent page. Possibly under forecast iirc.
Hi Øystein, Thanks very much once again, glad you enjoyed it! I've always preferred the short-haul Boeing fleet over the long-haul stuff personally, so whilst I prefer the classic 73's, the NG is still right up my alley ; ) Thanks very much for the pointers! The airways thing I was aware of and indeed one can do the same on the Airbus. I tend to do it "my way" though, as it can have its advantages from time to time, when building up certain routes (the explanation is a bit long winded to get into here though). For sure though, either method is totally valid! You're certainly correct re the transition FL, I just always forget to do it in the NG for some reason XD Cheers once again, glad you're enjoying the 737! All the best : )
Hello Seminsito, I'm actually using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Hi Switzerland, cheers! For this particular flight, I was using the following (so far as I can remember): - Addon scenery for both EGBB and EIDW - AIG Traffic - Real-world ATC / airline recordings (which I then edited into the video) - Bijan's Four Season Pack - FS Birds (UK) So not a tonne of addons, at least not ones that drastically change how the sim looks. A lot of what you see in the video, is just careful choices of weather / lighting / camera angle and then a bit of work during editing. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Hi Jonathan, I don't think I'm the best man to be teaching that, given that I'm actually an Airbus guy, not a Boeing one haha. For sure check out FlightDeck2Sim's channel though, he's a real-world 737 pilot and has all sorts of tutorials, FlyBy Simulations also made some excellent tutorials for the 737 (in X-Plane 11). I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Hi Jonas, My graphical settings are broadly as such: - “High End” preset - Pre-Cache = Ultra - Terrain and Object visibility sliders set at 125% (sorry, I forget the actual names of them) - Motion Blur = Off - Glass Cockpit Refresh = Medium - AI Traffic = Off - VSync = On / 60fps That gives a nice balance between graphical fidelity and performance. I only run at 1080p, hence the decent FPS / smooth performance. The things I’ve turned off / down are known to be famerate hogs. Lighting and weather can make a huge difference to the visuals in the sim; I spend quite a bit of time tweaking the weather / time of day for each of my videos. As far as FPS goes, that figure would be a little bit tricky to nail down in all honesty - it’s very variable, depending on the location, weather, addon etc used within the sim. I can get anywhere from nearly 100 FPS, right down to the sub-30’s. Typically though, I’m probably averaging around 50 FPS I would say. I hope that helps a little! All the best : )
Hello hope you are doing well ... i have a problem please when i start my MSFS in game does not show up paywer city land mark example dubai city just paid in market place some time show up same time show old version when restart my MSFS coming back . how to fix. thanks for your help
Hi Desert, I'm afraid I'm not really sure why the scenery would be showing up on some occasions and not others, if you're seeing it at all, then it must be installed correctly. . . Are you running two instances of the sim perhaps (eg using both the console and the PC, Windows and Steam etc)? The only other thing I can think of, perhaps sometimes when starting your sim, it isn't connecting to the internet and hence not showing everything correctly on the Marketplace? I'm afraid that's all I can think of really, I've never seen any similar behaviour myself. I hope that helps in some way - sorry I can't offer up any other ideas. I hope you manage to get things sorted : )
I’m afraid have no idea, Edoardo haha. I don’t actually fly for Ryanair, nor do I fly the 737 for that matter. I’m an Airbus pilot in the real-world, but I like to mix things up a bit in the sim : ) I hope that clarifies things. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video otherwise. Cheers and all the best!
Looks like a excellent add on, all things considered. Might take a crack at it... After I'm done playing with indiafoxtecho's F-35, having way too much fun with that.
Yeah, it's a very nice offering Deku. If you're indifferent to your 737 variants, consider the 600 as well. You're basically getting the same product at half the price ; ) Enjoy the Lightning! : )
Hi Maxtorym, Cheers, I’m glad you enjoyed the visuals. I run most things on “High End”, as opposed to “Ultra”. I do spend a lot of time tweaking the weather and lighting though, which can drastically affect how the sim looks. FPS can be very variable; I only run at 1080p and can get anything from mid-30’s up into the 80’s, but I tend to use Vsync and keep things locked at 60fps. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
hello, greetings, thank you very much for the very good video, I would like to know how to get the live communication radio, I would appreciate it, thank you very much
Hi Juan, My pleasure, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Thanks very much and all the best!
Hi Theodor, I actually had some real-world recordings, which I then edited into the video. FSRealistic will achieve a somewhat similar effect though, if that's the sort of thing you're after : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Hello Leo, Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The terminal modelling actually just comes with certain pieces of scenery. If I remember correctly, I used the Pyreegue Edinburgh airport scenery for that shot, so a little bit of trickery with the editing ; ) I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best!
Hey Nice Video, i need to know, how to get this view of window with moving camera and how u get the replay with flaps and spoilers ? I used a replay but my aircraft lookes like frozen and no flaps no spoilers no nothing...
Hi KL, thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The moving camera is a hardware, rather than software solution. I'm using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself. For the replay, I use an external 3rd party flight recorder. I record the flight and then play back the sections I want. With addon aircraft, you may have to configure the aircraft's flaps, spoilers etc manually (as I had to do here with the PMDG). You can find the flight recorder I use here: flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )

Great video. I missed it the first time it came up in my feed - I probably would have noticed it more had '737-800' been at the front of the title. Not sure what works best for titles for viewcount for you overall though, perhaps airplane model numbers don't appeal to a wider audience.
Cheers Jarrod, glad you enjoyed it! Ahh, well I wish I knew the answer to that myself haha. For sure a nice simple "737-800 review" title works, if I publish the video shortly after the product's release, but sadly after about 24hrs, any review is old news and the RUclips algorithm will kill off the video pretty quickly thereafter. At that point I have to get a little bit more "creative" with my titles haha (you'd be amazed what a difference it can sometimes make). Whilst I try and avoid going entirely down the clickbait route, it's sad to say that it's those sorts of titles that tend to work best. I'd like to be more principled about it, but at the end of the day, I put a lot of effort into the vids, so it's nice for them to be seen haha. Thanks very much for watching either way! All the best : )
Hello Chris, The ATC is actually real-world recordings, which I’ve then edited into the video. There is an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best!
Hello Tom, Could you expand on the question a little bit more please. Are you unsure where to find which course to set, or unsure of what a course is more generally? Cheers, all the best : )
Ah great Tom, happy to hear that you got things sorted! My pleasure on the reply! Thanks very much for the kind words, I’m really happy to hear that you’re the content : )
Thanks very much Alienblood, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! It’s always great to hear when someone finds the video informative also (though I wouldn’t pretend to be an expert when it comes to the Boeing haha). I knew someone would know the name of the airfield - thanks very much for the info! Cheers, much appreciated and all the best : )
You shouldn't have any master cautions for pushback and engine start. Might be a good idea to find out why you have them, and/or reset them if they are associated with any MEL items, so you actually notice if you get any problems during engine start.
Hi Jesper, Yes, that was an error on my part - I forgot to reset the master caution ahead of the start (the caution was not related to an actual failure). A reset wasn't included in the notes I was following (hence the omission), but I have subsequently been informed (by yourself and others), that a reset should be performed ahead of the start (makes sense). Cheers for the pointer. All the best
@@IntotheBlueSimulations The thing is that there shouldn't be anything to reset under normal circumstances. Instead I would advice you to figure out why you have the master caution and configure the overhead panel accordingly. The system is there to advice you if you have any problems and there are two different types of failures, resettable and non resettable. In short resettable failures are associated with redundant systems, for example the AC packs, which has two controllers. If just one controller fails, then you will get a master caution that you can reset, and the light will only appear on recall. If both controllers fail, then the pack light will stay on constantly and cannot be reset. As per the QRH checklist instructions, the QRH is not valid for resettable failures. Try pressing recall before push, it should not light up anything!
That’s interesting then. I had an ELEC caution and a HYD caution. The ELEC appears to be from the Drive “Disconnect” (obviously just unpowered in actuality) caution and the HYD from the engine pump Low Pressure caution. Both of these would seem normal to me at this phase in the flight (and sure enough they cleared after the start), but it sounds like you know quite a bit more about the 737 than I do haha? Cheers!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Yes the lights on the overhead panel are lit during pushback for the reasons that you described. But it does not light up the master cation system. Though it does on shutdown of one engine on single engine taxi in along with the ELEC / SOURCE OFF. I don't know how accurate your simulator software is, maybe that's the problem here. The real airplane does not trigger a Master Caution on pushback for these lights at least. If you want to learn more about the master cation system, find the FCOM, and read under chapter 15.
I can’t really give any meaningful feedback on how accurate the software is Jesper, though PMDG are somewhat known for there systems accuracy - so it’s more likely pilot error XD The addon does save its “state” after each flight, so I wonder whether it’s not registering a full shutdown when I load it up again - it sounds like that might explain it. I’m an Airbus man myself, so I’ve already got enough FCOM’s to keep me busy already haha (though I did read through a brief overview of the Master Caution system on 737.org), but I very much appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to try and get to the bottom of things. PMDG are actually releasing their 737-900 in the coming days, so I shall keep an eye out for what I find then ; ) Cheers once again! All the best : )

How do you get the airport ambience and announcements and cabin saftey annoucements? is it from fsrealistic pro since i got it if so can you tell me what to enable
Hi Shirellx, Those sounds you mention in the video, are independent of FSRealistic. I edited in the airport ambiance and cabin announcements for the sake of the vid : ) I hope that clarifies things. All the best!
Hello Ahmed, apologies for the slow reply. Whilst the weather was pretty miserable, the conditions weren't all that turbulent and the wind was quite light - so I wouldn't expect the aircraft to be moving around all that much. Of course, the aircraft's stability also depends on how Asobo go about modelling the environmental conditions and it seems the weather engine had a pretty drastic overhaul in SU10 (certainly much more turbulence, shear etc prevalent now). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Hello ILY, I can’t really recommend an exact system as 1) I’m not much of an expert on the subject and 2) there are so many different hardware options available. That being said, I have run MSFS on a number of different PC setups over the years (low-tier, mid-tier and high-tier); my PC setup is included in the description of each of my videos so, if you watch a couple of my oldest vids and then compare against videos from about 18 months ago vs recent videos, you should be able to get a half-decent idea of what different grades of hardware will do for you. If you have a rough system in mind, I’d be happy to try and help whittle down any hardware choices etc : ) I hope that helps a little. All the best!
Cheers Pedro, I’m glad you think so! I was not using Live Weather here, instead I created a custom weather scenario (I usually like to fly with Live Weather, but of course on the one day I wanted some rain, there wasn’t any haha). Cloud visuals have certainly taken a hit somewhere along the way, the clouds can still look good in MSFS, but not as consistently as they did in previous iterations of the sim (I would say). I hope that helps. Thanks and all the best! : )
Interesting that the aft fuel pump was shut off on the stand at the end of the flight but the APU didn’t roll back. In the 700 I always leave the aft pump running as without that, the APU won’t spool up? Great review as always. More like a documentary. I’ve bought the 800 in addition to the 700, but I do have to admit that ultimately, there really isn’t too much between them.
Haha, well it's an interesting point you raise Mark. Since my first ever "study level" 737 simming experience (the Wilco 737 in FS2004 - what a classic!), I've been using the AFT left fuel pump whilst running the APU (and that seems to be the norm from other simmers videos that I have watched). I had a real-world 737 pilot reach out to me on my video of the 700 though and one of his pointers was that they use the FWD left fuel pump when running the APU (I forget his exactly reasoning, but something to do with a scavenge pump). The APU will certainly operate in this configuration and I've no reason to question his suggestion (he has been very helpful - even sent me some real world 737 materials etc), so I ran with it. I can't categorically say that it's the right thing to do though. . . I'm glad you enjoyed the flight! Haha, indeed; I wasn't necessarily planning on picking up the 800 either, especially since I was a bit late to the party, but I wanted to make this video and in the end I couldn't resist ; ) Happy flying! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations It’s an interesting consideration on the ‘study level’ philosophy; the fact that an engine apparently works with a fuel supply pumped from either location over 30ft away IRL 😀 My wife has informed me she’s purchased a 737 sim experience for me for Christmas. So I’ll ask them on the day 😀
This is a fantastic and clear video! How did you manage to get LNAV en VNAV active before takeoff? In my PMDG 737 it’s not possible to do that as long as the wheels of the plane are connected with the asphalt 😉
Thank you very much Pascal, very kind of you to say! Are you using the Honeywell autopilot, by any chance? I was flying the IXEG 737 in X-Plane the other day and noticed that LNAV / VNAV can’t be engaged ahead of the departure - I subsequently wondered whether that’s a limitation of the Honeywell autopilot (vs the Collins unit). I’m not much of an expert when it comes to the 737, I’m afraid; if it’s not autopilot related, I’d imagine it’s something to do with the aircraft / airline configuration settings (adjusted via the CDU). I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Hello CF, Thanks very much, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! In terms of starting the APU, it very much depends on a number of different factors: Local restrictions, ground power availability, cabin temperature, ambient temperature and environmental concerns all come into play (amongst other things), but all things being equal (and with ground power available), typically the APU is started 5-10 mins before the pushback. I hope that helps a little? All the best : )
Cheers AarnDub, I'm glad you think so! I actually pretty much run at the default "High-End" pre-set. I tend to spend a lot of time tweaking the time of day and the weather though, as they are two of the biggest factors that affect how MSFS looks (I also spend a lot of time on the "cinematics"). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
Hi Argyris, Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it! The ATC is actually real-world recordings, which I’ve then edited into the video. There is an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps a little, all the best!
Hi Jimmy, Yes, the flight planning data (waypoints, flight levels etc) I get from SimBrief. SimBrief flight plans also include weather and NOTAM information, but for arrival forecasts etc, I tend to just to google the ICAO code (EIDW for example) and then "METAR" - that works the vast majority of the time. If you aren't a SimBrief user already, I highly recommend it, it's a brilliant and free service! I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )
Hi Dopplegangle, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure which ground pushback voice you're referring to? The background audio in this video is real-world ATC recordings (which I then edit in), but if you're referring to the puchback audio in some of my other videos, that is using the freeware "Better Pushback", but that is available for X-Plane 11 only. Does that help at all? All the best : )
Hello! Thank you very much for the video. I have a question about the sounds of announcements in the cabin. How did you get those? I tried everything, and my cabin was silent throughout the entire flight. I will really appreciate any help with that!
Hi Le_Carlson, You're most welcome on the video, my pleasure! I see Yasin mentions that there is an option in the FMC; I'm not too sure about that, but the cabin sounds you can hear in this video, I custom edited in myself (they were recordings from a real-world Ryanair flight). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Just holy cow! What rig do you have to run, to get this 4K 120hertz incredible scenery? I feel the minimum limit to even think about joining the community outside an X-Box X, is from £2000 pound sterling and upwards with all addon, yoke, rudder pedals, thrust, and a good screen. That is expensive. But so tempting.
2000 pounds is about right. You'll need a 3080Ti at least to hit these graphics. You also have to keep in mind that he's doing a lot of post processing on his videos and motion smoothing....so his real experience isn't as smooth as he's portraying.
Hi Jon, Haha, well my PC is perhaps a little more modest than you might think (details are in the video description), primarily because I actually run in 1080p and at 60fps. That makes the whole sim much more manageable - I'm only running it on a 2080 currently. I spend a lot of time tweaking weather, lighting and camera angles in my videos though, those factors all make a huge difference in terms of how the sim looks. For sure to run MSFS in a reasonable fashion, one does need a half-decent PC, but I think you'd be looking at closer to the £1000 mark than £2000 (especially now GPU's are coming down in price once again). Decent peripherals etc are going to bring those costs pretty close to your estimate, but those can be purchased over time; for the vast majority of time I have spent simming, I was using a laptop and a fairly basic joystick ; ) It's not a cheap hobby, but then most aren't haha and I certainly enjoy it, have done for many years! Cheers and all the best : )
Hi JS, As I mentioned to Jon, I'm actually only running an RTX2080. I don't do anything in post-processing to smooth out the video (just about the only visual effect I add, is a little bit of vignette here and there), but I only run the sim at 1080p, so it's quite easy to get nice smooth performance (I lock the fps at 60). What you see in my videos, is very much what I see on my screen (again minus the vignette). I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks, I'll be having a look at the specs, it's really interesting, because I am considering changing my entire PS5 system for a Xbox x, so I can play MSFS, but I also do need to get a new pc, so it's maybe worth looking into instead.
You’re most welcome Jon! I think both options have their merits, although ultimately the PC is always going to give the better / more flexible simming experience. Either way, enjoy! : )
Just watching this now, squire. Was wondering when you'd showcase the -8. I said I wouldn't get it, but predictably, having no willpower, I got it the day after release. Haha. Hope all is well in your corner of the world, mate. :)
I love your honest confession! You are not alone in this, Hah! (Yep, I walked a similar path, and happy I did.) We've come a long way since FS 4! Looking to the weekend, have a great one. :)
Haha yeah, I wasn't 100% sure I was going to bother with the 800 myself; I was away when it released but, in the end it was just too tempting. That being said, I think I now prefer the 600 / 700 overall, just for the aesthetics. I know many were holding out specifically for the 800, so it'll be interesting to see what sort of reception the 900 gets; I really think I might give that one a miss. . . but let's see XD Cheers man! Have a great weekend : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I actually prefer the -6 myself, on balance. It's power and maneuverability make it seem almost like a CJ4 or similar, it's like a big private jet. I'm tempted to give the -9 a miss, I know the Max is coming but not for a while. But, knowing me, I'll still probably fold and get the -9, to be a completionist, if nothing else :p Have a good weekend yourself, sir. 👍
I still have some pirated FCOM's kicking around on my hard drive haha XD
Cheers again for the kind words!
Systems shall be operative to the extent that all normal, abnormal, and emergency operating procedures can be accomplished."
Full FTD 1 requires quite a bit more of course and mostly lots of hardware. Overall to me it's still really amazing what's available today for so little money, at least in aviation terms 😉
Hi Top Hat,
Haha, well I was a simmer for many years, before I ever flew and I’ve always felt that simming is a very enjoyable hobby in its own right (it’s nice to be able to relax and not have to worry about the CAA / FAA etc, no 5am starts either haha). Of course none of us would pretend that a home flight simulator gets everything right, but it’s often incredible what one can actually achieve with a PC flight sim these days!
On the Minecraft point, I fear I’ve finally become “too old”, to understand the kids of today haha XD
All the best : )
For who you flying ?
Hi vEldavisiz,
I’m not sure whether this question was aimed at myself or the original poster? As far as I go, I prefer not to divulge details about who I work for etc, but I fly the Airbus in the real world, I’ve flown a number of members of the Airbus family over the years. So I’m not on the Boeing, but I enjoy flying it in the sim haha.
Cheers, all the best! : )
23:18
when the engine roar came in I almost felt as if I'm genuinely being pulled back in my seat...
that's how you know it's a good plane
Haha, glad to know you were feeling immersed then TS. PMDG have indeed done a great job with the 737’s sounds ; )
Real videos are of course great, but often you can't show everything; whilst not the real thing, I hope videos like this still offer some value : )
Thanks for watching and all the best!
You can still go into the cockpit if you ask nicely
You can indeed, SSB, though these days, most airlines will only allow one to visit the flight deck on the ground; back in the day, it used to be possible to visit at pretty much any point throughout the flight (and on some occasions, even sit in for the landing etc : )
Apologies if I’m stating the obvious haha. Cheers, all the best!
Dude!! I got to turn on the APU and APU generators in a 737-700 yesterday!
Very nice SSB! It’s great that the crew let you do that; sounds like you’re officially a flight engineer now! ; )
The thing I would really recommend PMDG to add is cabin sounds like touchdown shake sounds and reverser sounds
Another great video!
FSRealistic is the way forward for that, especially as everyone can share their settings
@@nineteenzerothree9867 yes but its another addon that costs money
These sounds are already included…
Thanks very much PW, really glad you enjoyed the video : )
Yeah, those sorts of touches are always really nice and certainly add to the immersion (though perhaps it would put me out of the job haha); FBW are actually one of the furthest ahead developers, when it comes to those sorts of touches. FSRealisitic does indeed add much of what you're after, but it is of course another purchase (a good one though I think).
Cheers and all the best!
Even tire scrubber noise on gear retraction, I'm impressed.
What a fantastic stream. The immersion is something else.
Is he on twitch? Or on RUclips
Hello Emanuel he is on RUclips.
@@kingsman80 thank you very much
Hi Emanuel,
As Kingsman points out, I'm on RUclips.
Please feel free to email me at intotheblueinbox@gmail.com and I'll get back to you with some details about membership : )
Cheers and all the best!
What a fine video. I really enjoyed it. The B 737-800 is one of my favorite airliners and I hope you feature more of them. Thank you for sharing.
Are you from Europe?
Haha, sorry to disappoint Stewie - I couldn't face all of the virtual lawsuits from you horrible lot XD
Really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
I know English, but you speak so fast that my brain is burning while trying to understand. amazing video
Many thanks for watching and all the best to you : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I see, in this case, lets we do practice for understanding:) thanks
I've worked in aviation for thirty years, and this short trip across the Irish Sea is very evocative as I was brought up in Dublin. A short sortie in a 737 but a world apart.
Oh nice, I hope PMDG did a good job of improving the flight dynamics of msfs2020, knowing PMDG, I think they will have done so
The PMDG 737 is certainly a massive improvement over the default jets.
Cheers!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations That's good then. I might get back into it ^_^ I had a VR headset and it was great immersion for me on the 787 cockpit.
Amazing! Like being on board and sat with you. Great work...
I think you were my pilot on my way to alicante I flew ryanair and I remember this voice
We’d both be in for a scary ride if I was, Dylan! I’m not actually rated on the 737, nor do I fly for Ryanair haha ; )
I’m on the Airbus in the real-world, but I enjoy flying the 737 in the sim, just for something a bit “different”.
I hope you had a nice time in Alicante! Cheers and all the best : )
Oh that's cool thanks
the rain wipers have quite a nice music beat 🤣
PMDG should add a company option to have flashing landing lights. I believe it is an option that some companies opt for to help deter birds from approaching an aircraft.
I am quite sure the pulse landing lights are including. It was even shown in the 737 trailer.
Hi CAT III,
As DAS mentions, I do seem to recall that is actually an option included with the 800 (don't think they're much use for shifting virtual birds though haha).
All the best : )
Superb video and far more enjoyable than watching the news. Although cattle class to Malta from Exeter is nearly as unbearable!😀
Thanks again John, really glad you enjoyed it (I definitely put some sweat and blood into this one haha)! Not one to inflate my own videos usually, but I wholeheartedly agree that they're much better than a lot of what you can find on the TV these days - sadly that isn't a high bar to meet though XD
Oh gosh. I managed about 2hrs down to Spain once (it was the only direct flight haha). The flight was okaaay in fairness, but I try to avoid giving Ryanair my money just on principle haha.
All the best! : )
Air stairs on the front, belt loader on the front as FR load up to 160 bags in the front. So very rarely load the rear. Would be perfect
Ah damn - 50 / 50 chance on that one haha. I had though Ryanair being Ryanair, they might prefer the more aft CofG, but I'll know for next time now then ; )
Thanks for the info UKAI! Much appreciated and all the best : )
Only one suggestion, should have dialed in the runway FAC when u intercepted the LOC, otherwise superb flight
I hate flying IRL but would feel so much better if every time I flew somewhere I had a pilot that was this confident in their announcements. Most pilots on my recent flights have sounded half asleep or talk so quietly you can't hear anything that is being said over the intercom.
Did you use the gsx pro in the vid. Love it btw
Hi Mr Tili,
I didn’t use GSX for this video (just the default MSFS ground handling), though I have subsequently purchased the addon. So far I’ve had mixed experiences with GSX and tend to use it only for cinematic purposes, as opposed to actually using it when simming.
I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks and all the best : )
This guys in pilot mode all the time.
There's no major rush of course; I'm sure their entire product line-up will still be available in the coming months and should indeed have a little more polish ; )
Cheers and all the best! : )
Ryanair with screens in the seats..? That'll be the day! :D
Late to the party… But what a great production and informative video! Nicely done
Hello, I was just wondering why you would put TCAS on TA/RA while still at the gate.
Hi Hathal,
Good question! Well up until recently, that was actually the SOP used by my company, so I tend to work around those SOP's when simming. That being said, the SOP was actually changed not too long ago and we now set TARA whilst lining up (which I believe is more in-line with most other operators). So yes, from now on I shall have to remember the new procedure, both in the sim and at work XD
Cheers and all the best : )
Beautiful! LOVE your reviews
Thanks once again Lior! Really glad you enjoyed this one (I put a lot of work into this vid in particular).
Thanks very much for watching : )
Brilliant!!! Please could
I ask, are u recording a VR when panning the cockpit? Thanks
Hi MrNLNG,
Well, thanks very much and my absolute pleasure! I’m really glad you found the video useful.
Much appreciated and all the best for your continued learning : )
Why did you go into level change passing FL60 instead of just pressing alt intervent?
Hi are these default graphics?
Great video, can you advise if you were using trackir dueing this video?
Cheers Rav, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I was indeed using TrackIR during the video.
All the best : )
Mate have you tried pro atc sr. Pretty good ATC for msfs, I think you would enjoy that.
Hey Blitz,
I have not, but I do keep meaning to try out some of these ATC addons. . . It's always a question of finding the time to do so haha, but I'll certainly take a look and keep it in mind.
Cheers! : )
Can you provide the check lists perhaps? That would be gold
What do you use to record your flights? Ive tried using the built in replay tool but it does not show the speed brakes upon landing or the flaps for the PDMG 737. Any info on this? Thanks. Great video
Hi Ethan,
I use a 3rd party recording tool, which can be found here:
flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder
I record the flight and then use the replay for any external shots that I wish to capture.
Great Video Keep up the Great Work! 😄
Thanks very much JS, I’m really glad you enjoyed the vid! I shall try my best to keep them coming : )
Much appreciated and all the best!
Could you share your graphics settings?
THATS WHAT IM SAYING TOO!!!
Why would you exchange speed for climb rate? That seems opposite of the way I’d think it would work with physics can anyone explain that for me?
Hi Mike,
Good question.
Some pointers for extra FR emersion if you'd like them (you'd probably never know them unless you were Ryanair)
There's no real way of knowing them outside of the airline in question but every departure would have an engine out procedure and an initial Minimum Flap Retraction Altitude (normally 1000' AAL unless terrain is a factor). This would be set in the Minima window on the ground (I think it was something like 1360 in BHX?)
The master cautions on engine start would be cancelled, otherwise the would mask an unexpected caution.
We'd just about always use intersection C from that stand for departure (time is money which is everything to FR and the cabin crew would be super-quick doing the demos)
At flaps up we'd go straight to VNAV typically and once cleared above the 6000' restriction at LUVUM, use the ALT INT button to remove the restriction/s (or delete from the FMC). LVL CHG wasn't used too much in a climb.
FR didn't really like us briefing in the descent. It's a short cruise segment, but we'd do our best to set up and brief before top of descent.
I wouldn't have worried about 5kts excess speed in the descent (the speed brake lever was known as the 'stick of shame' in FR!)
Great CDA into DUB (managing the the descent/speed is an art in the 800).
I must say though, I perhaps didn't appreciate just how conservative our SOP's are - gear down and not fully configured at *4 miles* you say?! haha
Re autobrake: Again, I was going with Airbus-ism's.
Cheers and all the best : )
landing gear suspension physics: they need to improve this. At touchdown is so flat the feeling. Also ground physics and tyres too
That’s true HKR, the sim is a bit weak on that front. FS Realistic goes some way towards improving things (not the gear suspension physics, but the rest of what you mention), but it’s a payware addition and of course it would be nice to have this sort of stuff in the sim as default.
Cheers! : )
do you have a vid on how you get replay and wing actions with the pmdg jets?
Hi Kalidilerious,
I don't have a video covering it I'm afraid, but for the "replays" I use a 3rd party recording tool, which can be found here:
flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder
I record the flight and then use the replay for any external shots that I wish to capture. Afterwards I then edit the external shots into the video. It's not done live as it may seem. Wing views are available via the External "Fixed Camera" in MSFS.
I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Could you tell me which zoom level looks most realistic in the pilot view? In the camera config file zoom level 0.50 or 0.35 ?
Hello Chris,
It’s always a little bit tricky to get a “realistic” view on a 2D monitor, as you have to balance what’s in your direct field of view vs what would be in your peripheral vision. I use a 50% zoom level for most aircraft in the sim and I find this gives a good balance between the viewpoint and being able to read the instruments. I haven’t tried 0.35, but that sounds a little bit too zoomed out to me. . .
I hope that helps a little? All the best : )
Hi, I’m just wondering if you were using AI traffic? If so what add on? Thanks!
Hi Obi,
I was indeed using AI traffic. In this particular video, I was using AIG traffic however, these days I tend to use FSLTL.
I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best! : )
have you printed off a check sheet for start/shut down or do you remember all of that ?
Hi EG,
It's a bit of both really: In reality, pilots generally do everything from memory and then confirm the correct procedures have been followed with a checklist thereafter. As I'm not all that familiar with the Boeing, I have a sheet to guide me through the workflows (though I've more or less committed them to memory at this point) and then I'm using a real-world checklist to follow up.
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )

Thanks very much indeed Caleb! I’m really glad you enjoyed it : )
I have a few problems and I've already tried to re install it, first off all my rudders turn but the aircraft docent steer, I see the rudders moving in the cockpit but on the ground they don't work yes the yaw damper is on, plus my parking break docent work, I turn it on and it flickers to on and imidiattly back to off idk what to do...
Hi ITA,
There is a configuration option within the CDU, that will sort out your rudder issues.
No weather radar? How about working TCAS?
Hello Chris,
No working weather radar, no, but that’s fairly typical of MSFS payware, as the default Asobo implementation is very limited at the moment (it’s supposed to be improved at some point, but it’s been taking a very long time). TCAS certainly seems to work to some degree, though most of the TA’s I’ve experienced, seem to have been spurious , during the approach to the airport haha (I haven’t had the opportunity to test the TCAS system in any depth).
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
Nice. Can anyone help please?
How to get rid of these annoying labels when you point at a switch or button?
Hi TBP,
You need to go into "General Options" and then "Assistance", there you can choose to turn off "Instrument Name Tooltips".
I hope that helps! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations thanks for that.
Are you using a reshade mod? Or is that how the game looks vanilla?
The video is essentially vanilla MSFS, though I do often spend a lot of time tweaking the weather / time of day, as both of those settings can make a huge difference as to how MSFS looks.
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Great video! I have a question though, what are you using to move the camera in such smooth fashion?
Thanks very much Yasin, glad you enjoyed it!
For the camera movement, I am using a head-tracking device called TrackIR. It's great, although a little pricey; there are cheaper / "freeware" alternatives available, that will achieve a similar effect, should you wish to try it out for yourself : )
I hope that helps. All the best!
What is the scenery that you are using for Birmingham airport?
Hello Clive,
I was using the Macco Simulations Birmingham Airport scenery.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Mr. Blue, how close to reality would you rate this 800 version? It looks pretty awesome!
Hi Steve,
I'm probably not the best person to answer your question, given that I'm an Airbus man by trade, but from the little that I do know of the 737, I think it is a very accurate recreation of the aircraft - certainly on a par with the Fenix A320. Graphically the 737 is a touch below some of the competition as it stands (PMDG are planning an upgrade I believe), but systems fidelity and performance to the numbers is pretty much second to none it would appear.
I hope that helps a little! All the best : )
PS, consider the 600 as well - it's half the price and the same level of fidelity ; )
Hi, does anyone know how to map the LNAV on Autopilot to a controller button? I've had a look through the general control options but can't see LNAV? Thanks.
Hi Jayrer,
I’m afraid I’m not sure on that one myself. I suspect someone over on the PMDG forums might be able to help, but otherwise hopefully someone gets back to you here.
I hope you manage to figure things out. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Ok many thanks. If I find an answer I'll post it here.
Yes, Your video just great. However, I don't get answer to my question.
QESTION
2) What Ground service program are you using for the airport? Is it GSXPro, or something different program? Just guessing is it paid program for EGBB? The mean time thanks for your time.
3) During fly what ATC are you on? Is it VATSIM or something else?
The mean time thanks for your time.
Hi Leo,
Well thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Unless I’ve missed something, I did reply to your previous question (regarding the scenery in use)? To answer your other questions:
2) The ground services used in this video, were a combination of the default MSFS ground services and a selection that comes with the PMDG 737 itself.
3) The ATC is real-world recordings, which I then edit into the video. There is an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )

Quick question how do u know when u need to descend?
At 7:04 you see waypoint GARTI altitude 3000 feet, the flight computer calculates where to start the descent from cruise altitude, to hit this altitude at this waypoint ideally on idle thrust. It's all on autopilot.
Thanks for offering up the help AM, much appreciated! : )
Hi Been,
Are you asking with regards to the 737 specifically, or in a more general sense? For the 737 itself; there will be a little green “T/D” (Top of Descent) circle on the Navigation Display, as well as a distance readout on the PROG page (I believe the CRZ page will show the same thing also). This top of descent is calculated by the aircraft, but is also dependent on having the correct data entered into the FMC. In a more general sense, 3 X your altitude is a good rule of thumb for when to descend, 4X for some jets (there are more accurate ways of calculating the profile, but it would be a bit too nuanced to get into here).
I hope that helps a little? All the best : )
One question. Custom camera views for the 737/8. How? Where? I need. lol
Hi P5OLO,
I was just using a combination of the default cameras and moving the cockpit camera around. For the cabin view I had to use the drone cam, for the wing views I used the “External - Fixed Camera presets” and for the nose cam I just moved cockpit camera into position using the default controls.
I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
how is the video so clear on a 2080? are you flying VR or on monitor in this?
Hi Christoph,
I was playing / recording using a monitor (in 1080p).
Hi Øystein,
Thanks very much once again, glad you enjoyed it! I've always preferred the short-haul Boeing fleet over the long-haul stuff personally, so whilst I prefer the classic 73's, the NG is still right up my alley ; )
Thanks very much for the pointers! The airways thing I was aware of and indeed one can do the same on the Airbus. I tend to do it "my way" though, as it can have its advantages from time to time, when building up certain routes (the explanation is a bit long winded to get into here though). For sure though, either method is totally valid! You're certainly correct re the transition FL, I just always forget to do it in the NG for some reason XD
Cheers once again, glad you're enjoying the 737! All the best : )
Why is your Camera so smooth? Greetings!

What are the mods you used in this video ?? They look amazing
Hi Switzerland, cheers!
For this particular flight, I was using the following (so far as I can remember):
- Addon scenery for both EGBB and EIDW
- AIG Traffic
- Real-world ATC / airline recordings (which I then edited into the video)
- Bijan's Four Season Pack
- FS Birds (UK)
So not a tonne of addons, at least not ones that drastically change how the sim looks. A lot of what you see in the video, is just careful choices of weather / lighting / camera angle and then a bit of work during editing.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )

Hi Jonathan,

Hi! With your pc specs, what fps do you get on for example London Heathrow? (And what are your graphic settings in whe sim?)
Hi Jonas,
My graphical settings are broadly as such:
- “High End” preset
- Pre-Cache = Ultra
- Terrain and Object visibility sliders set at 125% (sorry, I forget the actual names of them)
- Motion Blur = Off
- Glass Cockpit Refresh = Medium
- AI Traffic = Off
- VSync = On / 60fps
That gives a nice balance between graphical fidelity and performance.
All the best : )

hope you are doing well ... i have a problem please when i start my MSFS in game does not show up paywer city land mark example dubai city just paid in market place some time show up same time show old version when restart my MSFS coming back . how to fix. thanks for your help
Hi Desert,
I'm afraid I'm not really sure why the scenery would be showing up on some occasions and not others, if you're seeing it at all, then it must be installed correctly. .
Really interesting. But isn’t the Ryanair CI always equal to 6 according to the current policy? I’m a bit confused…where is this applicable?😅
I’m afraid have no idea, Edoardo haha. I don’t actually fly for Ryanair, nor do I fly the 737 for that matter. I’m an Airbus pilot in the real-world, but I like to mix things up a bit in the sim : )

Hi Maxtorym,
Cheers, I’m glad you enjoyed the visuals.

Hey Nice Video, i need to know, how to get this view of window with moving camera and how u get the replay with flaps and spoilers ? I used a replay but my aircraft lookes like frozen and no flaps no spoilers no nothing...

For the replay, I use an external 3rd party flight recorder. I record the flight and then play back the sections I want. With addon aircraft, you may have to configure the aircraft's flaps, spoilers etc manually (as I had to do here with the PMDG). You can find the flight recorder I use here:

You shouldn't have any master cautions for pushback and engine start. Might be a good idea to find out why you have them, and/or reset them if they are associated with any MEL items, so you actually notice if you get any problems during engine start.
Hi Jesper,
Yes, that was an error on my part - I forgot to reset the master caution ahead of the start (the caution was not related to an actual failure).
I can’t really give any meaningful feedback on how accurate the software is Jesper, though PMDG are somewhat known for there systems accuracy - so it’s more likely pilot error XD
The addon does save its “state” after each flight, so I wonder whether it’s not registering a full shutdown when I load it up again - it sounds like that might explain it.
I’m an Airbus man myself, so I’ve already got enough FCOM’s to keep me busy already haha (though I did read through a brief overview of the Master Caution system on 737.org), but I very much appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to try and get to the bottom of things. PMDG are actually releasing their 737-900 in the coming days, so I shall keep an eye out for what I find then ; )
Cheers once again! All the best : )
What is that you are using for ATC?
Hi MrBJC,
The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )
I hope that helps. All the best!
How do you get the airport ambience and announcements and cabin saftey annoucements? is it from fsrealistic pro since i got it if so can you tell me what to enable
Hi Shirellx,
Those sounds you mention in the video, are independent of FSRealistic. I edited in the airport ambiance and cabin announcements for the sake of the vid : )
I hope that clarifies things. All the best!
how are you getting the announcements
Hello Vic,
The announcements are real-world recordings, which I then edited into the video.
I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )
Why is the aircraft so stable in such a bad weather??
Hello Ahmed, apologies for the slow reply.
Whilst the weather was pretty miserable, the conditions weren't all that turbulent and the wind was quite light - so I wouldn't expect the aircraft to be moving around all that much. Of course, the aircraft's stability also depends on how Asobo go about modelling the environmental conditions and it seems the weather engine had a pretty drastic overhaul in SU10 (certainly much more turbulence, shear etc prevalent now).
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Can u recommend to which desktop i need for msfs and which pc i need please i really wanna start msfs i use yo fly on flight simulator 2004
Hello ILY,
I can’t really recommend an exact system as 1) I’m not much of an expert on the subject and 2) there are so many different hardware options available. If you have a rough system in mind, I’d be happy to try and help whittle down any hardware choices etc : )
I hope that helps a little. All the best!
Really beautiful, entertaining and helpful, thanks!
Thanks very much FlyFlyFly, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Cheers for watching and all the best to you : )
Gorgeous. Are you using live weather? The last time I saw these clouds was pre-SU7 era
Haha, indeed; I wasn't necessarily planning on picking up the 800 either, especially since I was a bit late to the party, but I wanted to make this video and in the end I couldn't resist ; )
Happy flying!
So I’ll ask them on the day 😀
Ooo, lucky you! I’m sure that will be great fun (you obviously married the right lady haha ; )
You’ll have to let us know how you go then! : )
Hello, great video but at which point do you do the apu start as I didn’t see you do this in the video
Hello CF,
Thanks very much, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video!
"I hope we haven't hoovered up too many of those birds into the number 2 engine" made me laugh out loud
Haha, Kentucky Fried Pigeon anyone? : P
All the best Paul : )
the graphics looks awesome do you have everything set to ultra .it looks like that
Cheers AarnDub, I'm glad you think so!
@@IntotheBlueSimulationsDid you use DLSS or frame generation when filming this video?
Great vid!Do you use any mid for the ATC?

Where do you get the way points and flight levels from . Is it simbrief. And how do you get the weather for the arrival airport.
Hi Jimmy,
Yes, the flight planning data (waypoints, flight levels etc) I get from SimBrief.
All the best : )
hey can i ask how do u do your ground pushback drivers voice to be tht real?
Hi Dopplegangle,
I'm afraid I'm not quite sure which ground pushback voice you're referring to? The background audio in this video is real-world ATC recordings (which I then edit in), but if you're referring to the puchback audio in some of my other videos, that is using the freeware "Better Pushback", but that is available for X-Plane 11 only.
Does that help at all? All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations the one where when you contact the ground pushback service their audio sound how do u do it? edited or freeware?
Hello!
Thank you very much for the video. I have a question about the sounds of announcements in the cabin. How did you get those? I tried everything, and my cabin was silent throughout the entire flight. I will really appreciate any help with that!
You can change those settings in your FMC
Hi Le_Carlson,
You're most welcome on the video, my pleasure!
I see Yasin mentions that there is an option in the FMC; I'm not too sure about that, but the cabin sounds you can hear in this video, I custom edited in myself (they were recordings from a real-world Ryanair flight).
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
@@yasinparti4385 can you clarify where exactly can I find that option, please?
Sorry i thought you meant the announcements in the cockpit, like height callouts.
Hi Jon,
Haha, well my PC is perhaps a little more modest than you might think (details are in the video description), primarily because I actually run in 1080p and at 60fps.
Decent peripherals etc are going to bring those costs pretty close to your estimate, but those can be purchased over time; for the vast majority of time I have spent simming, I was using a laptop and a fairly basic joystick ; )
It's not a cheap hobby, but then most aren't haha and I certainly enjoy it, have done for many years!
Cheers and all the best : )
Hi JS,
As I mentioned to Jon, I'm actually only running an RTX2080.
I know many were holding out specifically for the 800, so it'll be interesting to see what sort of reception the 900 gets; I really think I might give that one a miss. . . but let's see XD
Cheers man!
But, knowing me, I'll still probably fold and get the -9, to be a completionist, if nothing else :p
Have a good weekend yourself, sir. 👍
