- The default aircraft profiles are often difficult to understand and manage. This guide will help you create your own profiles for your aircraft. In Part 1 of this configuration guide series we set up all the common functions to the axis and buttons on the VelocityOne Flight Yoke and Throttle Quadrant. In part 2, (which will be coming shortly) we will configure the VelocityOne Flight with different profiles to suit different aircraft types.

Mark,
I was so frustrated, having no clue how to do what you have demonstrated. Now I am so happy! You are very generous to take the time and trouble to help all of we newbies get the most out of the powerful VelocityOne device. Bravo!!
I cannot thank you enough for putting together this easy to follow video. First time user of the Velocity One and I had no clue as to how to get it working. Please enjoy a little token of gratitude from me. Watching from Las Vegas, NV.
Thank you for supporting the channel. 👍
Just received mine today, I’ve got a headache after 8 hours of trial and error setting profiles for the Cessna 152 and TBM 930. I didn’t build from scratch but instead stripped out the single prop profile. I actually set my Hat-1 to Pilot views(up and down) and once in instrument view I can toggle left and right between instrument views. Trial and error setting the levers for TBM but now I’ve got throttle, landing gear and flaps configured. The only other change I made was smart look combining LB and B2 as this was more representative of when I used the Xbox controller. I think I’ll follow your video tomorrow to build a base profile. I’ve blamed you to the Wife for the expense, your community fly-ins are very good 👍, cheers for effort you make for the community, great video. Tonydarkzero.
Thanks Mark for your easy to follow tutorials. Looking forward to part two.
Soothing as always. Thanks for your energy Mark!
Thank you for this & all of your other msfs content! This yoke was a little overwhelming at first, but you ability to break it down Barney style was a massive help.
As a newbie to MSFS and the Velocity One I have found your videos immensely valuable and informative in getting started and understanding how things work. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.
Thank you for the very detailed video! I just ordered this yoke along with the rudder pedals for my Series X and anxiously awaiting delivery. Your review video really helped me when deciding to buy this set up. This video is going to help me alot when settling up my yoke when it arrives! Some of your suggestions I didn't even think of when planning it out in my head and I love how you brake it down step by step making it easy to follow along with! If you don't already have a video out I would also love to see how you would set up a multi engine plane for the velocity one. I've been wanting to get into those planes but have been pretty hard to fly with the Thrustmaster Hotas One that I've been using. Can't wait to get my Velocity One in a couple days!
Mark Thank you very much for this excellent guide! I have been a legacy X-Plane player on a Mac. Between that and being much older was finding switching to Flight Sim 2020 very frustrating despite its glorious eye candy. This video was a wonderful discovery with your experienced insights on setting up operations in addition to your suggestions on use of 2020 features.
What a gem of a video, thank you for your time and input into this, so valuable.
I have used this set up on the caravan and seems to be working well.
I'm a total noob to flight sim and got a velocity one and these videos are invaluable to me. Great work!
Brilliant video for those who want to try and understand how to assign controls from xbox controller and transfer to velocity after purchasing. Makes very good tutorial on how to and helping understand the terminology of the aircraft controls and applying them to your new velocity. Fantastic video
Thanx Mark I figured it out myself how to arrange the V1F with re edit the existing default profile and save this as a new file. Compliments for your clear and easy to understand method of explaining your way 👌👏
Thanks for help mark. The trouble i had though because we set up a new profile we didn't have the throttle to be able to test the plane like you did. Found part two 👏
Couldn’t be ANY better. Thank you!
Great video. Very helpful. Well organized and clearly presented. Excellent instructional video for a newbie like myself. Thank you.
Thanks Mark. I appreciate your good work.
Just what I needed thank you so much for this video. Love your content
Wonderfully explained - thanks so much!
Brilliant Video. As I'm learning to fly a 152, this video really helped. Thank you.
Absolutley amazing videos. Just subbed.
thank u! i got that Yoke for christmas today, and we have ordered msfs so this will help a lot cuz i’ve never played msfs :)
Brilliant video. It was a big help to resolve my mapping issues. Thanks a lot.
Just plain excellent ! Thanks !
I'm so glad I have the Stream Deck now - no messing around with my wheel and throttle anymore
Wonderful overview! Turtle Beach should be paying you for this! Thank you.
Hello Mark, Thank you for this detailed configuration video. I just purchased the Velocity one controller, and this video will be an excellent asset for configuring my controller. I found your channel videos by searching VO on RUclips. New subscriber, Thank You.
Hands down the best how to video there is!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
Loud and clear Sir...thanks for your guidance...
Thanks for this mate. Very helpful
Thank you!!!! Absolutely fantastic instructional!
excellent tutorial, the best to date on youtube
Thank you so much. Bought this a while ago and was having nightmares of how to use it!
Superb presentation, Mark. You are an excellent instructor! BTW, while flying yesterday, that 'don't sink' heard in the video around 22:30 drove me crazy. Have to figure out how to silence it.
Nice videos Mark. Just a tip about real world flying. Rudder and aileron trims aren't used to counter crosswinds aloft. Set a crab angle and leave your trims alone. 100 knot airspeed, 20 knot 90 degree crosswind, and nose 12 degrees into the wind is a basic setup to stay on course for 172's. Using a E6B will give results for other wind speeds and angles. I would keep the rudder/aileron hats free for other purposes and assign a keyboard command for the few times you may them. Set your autopilot for GPS and VS mode and you'll never touch a trim anywhere.
Hi. Thanks so much for producing this video. Learned a few tricks from you that are really useful. Found this video to be very helpful. Can't wait to watch part 2. Does part 2 cover sensitivities for this thing? I know the A 320's are very finicky in this area. My Saitek pro had really large dead zones to compensate for it.
I'm setup on PC so a couple things were different but I followed along. Note to users: I found that if I disconnect and reconnect TBV1, it goes back to XBOX mode by default, which is a problem for PC users. Has to be rest or MSFS won't recognize your controller.
Love the B1/B2 buttons settings. Nice trick. Love it. Thanks again for a great video.
Thank you so much this helped a lot
Thank you so much, great assistance
Here’s a suggestion for the case of taildraggers, when you need soft/subtle braking… you can assign two of the throttle levers to the left and right brake axis 💡
I am not a senior simmer having joined the community in Feb’23.Your tutorials and videos on various subjects have been of immense help in learning the ropes of this marvellous game or better still Flight Simulator.I started with Thrustmaster Hotas One configuring which was a breeze. Having gained reasonable experience I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade which I did in the shape of Turtle Beach Velocity One.I am on Xbox and Velocity has been acquired just a week ago.It also appears updated with firmware of 1.0.0.I straight away got down configuring it following your videos but got frustrated due not getting the configuration right despite following every step as per your videos. The bindings though correct are not confirmed by the movement of axis in the white horizontal bar.I just don’t seem to understand where I am going wrong or is it some kind of a bug which is not letting it to work.I did read on FS forums that people faced similar issues and it was flagged as a bug in earlier stages.I would appreciate if you can give me some pointers to troubleshoot this bug.
Just wan to say that a new firmeware update is available for Velocity one. With this the reverse thrust toogle option now works. You pull your levers completly back and than forward and you can controll your reverse thrust.
For me it sets it to reverse thrust at 50% I don’t know how to fix
Thank you so much. 😊
1000 Thank you, the only difference i made is with the hat up/down. I used them to increase/decrease cocpit height view. Greetings from Greece!!!
You are a legend Mark, I've struggled to configure mine and have had some bad flights. It really doesn't work with jets using mode 2 (the twin engine). Thanks again, I've got some exciting simming ahead of me this weekend.
Great video!! Both part 1 and 2 were a great help! What button do you use to toggle the engine on and off?
I use one of the buttons on the throttle quad
@@SimHangerFS last question haha what is the engine start function called?
Thank you for your brilliant video. One question I have is after you configure a number of buttons you can directly jump into the cockpit to check on your settings and I couldn't figure out how you transition to that view. Please help
Great video thank you. Question about the rudders. When I press the left or right rudder trigger the rudder operates correctly but while I'm still holding one trigger button the rudder automatically returns to the default position. Watching the rudder pedals they work and then come back up while still holding the trigger. Am I missing something? Any advice will be greatly appreciated 👍🏼
Mark, question about using rudder controls ( I don't have the unit yet). On takeoff, my right hand, would be on the throttle. I fly GA planes, and most have a pronounced left yaw tendency. How would I apply right rudder when my right hand is on the throttle? Switch the rudder inputs? Thanks, Bill
Great video and help setting up the VO! I have copied your profile setup as in the videos on both the yoke and quad as this suited me perfectly and have a question regarding the Aileron trim (ref.15:47). Is there any "reset aileron trim" function as with the rudder trim? I found a control called "Reset Aileron", but this didn't have any effect on the trim. Any tips or workarounds would be appreciated.
No reset that I am aware of unfortunately
Hi. Thanks for the nice clear video. With your brake selection, haven’t you chosen an on or off option rather than graduation using brake axis so you brakes can be on a little or a lot or anywhere in between, rather than 100% on or OFF?
On and off only for parking brake.
Hello and thanks for very nice video. I usually fly Pmdg 737, do you know the best sensitive for the yoke?
Thanks! Really helpful.
Is there any way to talk to the ATC without using the Xbox controller/ mouse?
Thank you
Hi, Thanks for the video, it helped me as a first timer to set the said yoke on my PC, however, I can't seem to be able to assign the trim wheel on my PC for MSFS 2020. Any ideas what I need to do?
Love your assistance. Im using the Cessna 152 and during night flights, I can't get the instruments to light up. Can't figure out which ones they are. Can you please advise me? Im a beginner.
fantastic tutorial. easy for us noobs to follow.
Excellent video. Just received the VelocityOne yesterday. Struggled with the buttons with the exception of the obvious controls. So happy to watch your video. Why Turtle Beach couldn't have offered more literature is beyond comprehension. Found how to successfully update the controller firmware (crucial) in conjunction with the Xbox on the internet. That also would have been helpful with some information in the packaging. The quality of the device and the careful packaging were great. It should be noted that the alert panel (SIP) behind the yoke are awaiting firmware update before they are totally functional (at least on Xbox).
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Great videos, just a problem I can solve yet. B1 external view, but my pov 2 isn’t giving free look🤔 in cockpit view, no problem, what am I missing?
Hi, new viewer. I purchased a refurbished model but it didn't come with the wallchart. Any idea of how I can either obtain one or at least print one off so I can compare the PC/Xbox differences. Thanks
Is it possible that button assignments have changed since the latest version? Trying to follow your set up but get different assignment assignments?.
Is this ok for a total beginner? I’m just finishing my PC build and getting ready to fly around in my room.
Hi Mark,
I did add some internal friction to the upper and lower levers works quite well but does requires taking the unit apart. Can send you some pictures if you are interested.
I do have a couple question for you:
1.how did you set-up the smart cam.?
2.how are you sensitivity settings?
I'm on XBOX...
Best regards,
I have some general guides that may assist. Check out this playlist. ruclips.net/p/PLSyT1Loyov5iZU38-D8xEwhTyKqES4_e9
Thanks!
Thank you for your continued support of the channel Norman, greatly appreciated. 👌
Is one able to load an existing profile with MSFS 2020? I just wonder if people have created good profiles that a person could load into MSFS 2020 and utilize that particular profile.
Thanks a lot for a great video! May I ask a noob question, even before I have get going with my Velocity One. How does the status panel behind the yoke? I have only static light.
The config options are still in beta testing, still to be implemented.
@@SimHangerFS Thanks!
Do you need to add a profile to the VF1 itself to match the selected profile in MSFS? Example, if I selected single engine in MSFS, I also have to select single engine on the yoke. And if so, how? Thanks for such great videos!
The profiles on the yoke are for training purposes only. Active profiles are those selected in MSFS.
Hey all, I am unable to map the AP Heading bug hold on the controller. Does anyone know if this is a MSFS issue? Cheers
Hi, my pc shows the picture of velosity one in controls options but its named controller xbox 360 fow windows. Whats the problem?
MIKE HOW DO YOU FLY THE KING AIR. TWO ENGINES BUT SOFTWARE ONE HAS ONE ENGINE. ANY IDEAS?
How come, if I make a profile for my Volecityone yoke and go to use it, it won't work? All I done was change sensitivity of my twin jet profile. If I go back to the default profile it works. Also if I use a new profile abd use auto pilot, aircraft just circles
You need to show what button you are hitting for settings! For the Camera External View, I have no idea what to push or which direction to go. Please Help!
Hello Sir ,
to start, I would like to thank you warmly for your videos and, following your advice, I bought a yok turtle beach.
I am your new French subscriber.
then I take the liberty of asking you for a little video advice on the sensitivity settings of your yok.
thank you
For pitch turn down (minus) sensitivity by just a little….5% and roll I leave at default.
This was a very helpful video, but I have some thoughts. As a new MFS player I am wondering, What about all of the other assignments/keybinds? And what Im getting too is, do I need every single assignment for me to have a good experience in the game.
Good day, Mark!
Unless I missed it somewhere (watched Parts 1 and 2 several times), when it comes to the trim wheel on the throttle quadrant, did you stick with the default setting or make your own "tweaks"? (This is on an Xbox Series X).
Mine just seems VERY sensitive with the default settings. Moving it just one "nub" seems to dial in wayyy too much trim. I tried some various settings but haven't seen any improvements...suggestions for better settings?
Along those same lines...it there a "center" to that trim wheel or is it simply a continuous action? I thought about trying to find one and then marking one of the nubs with some white paint but perhaps I'm overthinking things... ;-)
Cheers!
I stuck with default.
As usual Mark great video, very relaxed and informative!
Two weeks ago, possibly after an update, something critical has happened? On my velocity One yoke and PC version NONE of my single prop planes engines will now work?
All levers and mappings work great including sensitivities, BUT the engine revs don't increase? It's like the assistances are switched on and stop the revs increasing?
What's equally confusing is that the Yoke is perfect using the Xbox version?
Have you heard anything about this please?
Keep up your great work!!
There are some bugs which should be sorted in SU9. Try changing config to throttle axis as opposed to throttle one axis etc.
@@SimHangerFS thanks for that mark, I've tried so many things, I've moved over to my xbox version for now. The PC version is unplayable. Thinks for the update. S
Hi, very good demonstration.
Can you please help me with one thing. It’s the quadrant setting. The trim wheel is not shown on my control panel as it is in your demo. Thanks
The trim wheel is shown with the quadrant not the yoke.
i am really struggling with this so i hope youre video helps me. im new to flight sim & therefore new to the velocity one as well. its plugged in...i briefly played fsx where you started in fligght school in a microlight but here in this fs2020 i dont know where im supposed to start well im guessing its in the bit where it says basic controls & to look around but my problem is when it then says to go in cursor mode press buttons 19 & 20 ...i pressed all the buttons & there is no button 19 & or 20 so why on earth wouldnt they do a better job at explaining & the ui is terrible . you kind of have to have already built an actual real plane to navigate this thing
Hey! I seem to be having a problem with my L Axis 3 for my elevators. Whatever i do they dont work, so frustrating… thank you
Check in windows that the axis is calibrated and working. Check nothing else is assigned to that function and ensure pilot assist functions in the assistance menu are all off.
Do you have a guide to all of your presets listed somewhere. I followed your video for Xbox/ turtle beach button assignments but when I returned the settings were mostly gone. Great job in your explanation but it would be great if there was a list of the settings. Thank you.
Sorry not listed. Just haven’t had the time to do something like this.
@@SimHangerFS Thank you.
Do you know if it's necessary to use the Xbox wireless controller while using the Turtle Beach Velocity One? The A/B/Y/X buttons on the yoke don't work all the time, so I've had to use the Xbox controller to get some things done.
No you don’t need to use it. Check your yoke firmware is fully up to date.
@@SimHangerFS honestly, I’m not too impressed with this Velocity hardware
Is anybody having an issue with the Velocity Ones LT and RT rudder buttons? I have these set to control the rudder but it just gives me full rudder unlike my Xbox controller that adjusts the amount of rudder based on the amount of pressure depressed on the buttons. I have gone into sensitivity and can see it does not threat the buttons as a regular graduated axis. I have reached out to TurtleBeach but they are not very helpful. I feel I am missing something very simple and I am running the sim on an Xbox any ideas?
Hi! Amazing help here ... is there a configuration guide video for the Throttle (PC) from yours? Regards.
Sorry no, only Honeycomb Bravo TQ
Fantastic help thank you mark. Please can you tag me in part two please 🙏
Thanks
Hi George, thank you very much for supporting the channel. 😊 Mark
When I pull back the throttle for the elevator axis, mine says L-Axis Y and the test does not work
Very nice tutorial :)
(question for Xbox Series X) Any issue resuming the game from a pause??? some users say they lose control of the plane
Not from my experience. Quick resume works good too.
If it's auto trimming and stuff I get this sometimes loading in airborne in the Xbox just give her a few yanks up and down or a barrel roll I know it's a simulation and doing stuff like that is not the most representative of that but it gains your control over the surfaces again
@@dundisdundat7022 For some reason some of the pilot assist options are enabled ...means your fighting the copilot sometimes. Go to the assistance options and ensure all pilot assists are off.
Every time I create a new profile in this manner, things become flaky. Example: When doing the brake check at 13:40, when I try to push the throttle in it keeps pushing out all by itself. Works find if I just use the default profile, but goes to heck when I create the new profile as you demonstrate here. Any Ideas why? I am on PC.
Follow up to my previous comments. Would it make sense to name the first profile "Cessna 152", tweak it, and test for a while? Copy the profile & name it for a different (next) aircraft. On and on . . .? That way, it might be easier to solve the subtleties of different aircraft by preselecting the associated (named) aircraft profile prior to flight and making necessary adjustments as time dictates.
Don’t miss the continuation of this video part 2 ruclips.net/video/KLkTh9Gh3wY/видео.html
Everything has worked except cockpit quick view right/left next pilot previous pilot with pov 1. I've cleared and re assigned over and over. Suggestions?
If you change your aircraft in msfs does it load the right profile itself or should you also manually load the other profile?
It should load the last used profile for that aircraft, but often fails to do so.
Total new guy here. Just installed the Velocity One and I am going through your video, which is very good. You often 'pop' back to sim view. How are you doing this?
From controls menu select return, then resume.
Every time I start flight simulator my xbox controller is selected in the control options menu. But I want my Velocity Flight to be selected automatically. how do i set that up?
Verry nice video! I use the velocity one with the Xbox series X. How can i update the Firmware? By unboxing the velocity one it has firmware 1.0.4.
That firmware is the latest. No need to update at the moment.
Can you set up a button to go from external view to the default cockpit view? I can’t for the life of me figure it out. If I free view inside the cockpit and look somewhere in another angle then switch to external view, the next time I return to cockpit view I am looking in the other direction still. I can reset cockpit view with another button push but I want to go directly from external view to default cockpit view. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance.
Do you know if it's possible to set a default controller layout per plane? Everytime I switch a plane I now have to manually select the correct controller configuration. Would be really nice if it's possible to set a default config per plane..
I have the same problem, it doesn’t remember controller/config per aircraft. Very frustrating.
@@SimHangerFS Hopefully they will add that feature one day :)
My elevator axis doesn’t cover the entire range when I scan. Doesn’t seem to be calibrated properly. Any tips?
Calibrate in Windows first.
no you definately move that yoke back first & then all the way forward & yours says axis 3 but when i do that it says axis 2
If I make another twin jet profile, my autopilot won't work, just goes around in circles. Go back to standard twin jet no issues, changed nothing in my duplicate jet profile other than sensitivity
