Wow the adjustment to the brakes is an absolute game changer in the Formula 4 car. I was struggling a lot with locking up and that has made a huge difference. Great work man.
I know this video is a bit old and all but I went searching around for ways to setup or how to better drive with a controller as it's all I have right now and while I'm still only a rookie and don't have a current need for the brake adjustment in the Mazda's, though I might give it a shot. The steering changes helped a TON. I recently did a race at Tsukuba Circuit and I was getting frustrated with the hairpins as I knew I could go faster, throw the car into them harder then I did. Just with the steering mapped to 360, I couldn't. The 250 helped a TON. Thank you
Thankyou for these tips and also for putting in the time. I would love a steering wheel but just don't have the space to keep one out in my flat, so using a controller is a close second. Thanks again

Great video Rampski, thanks for letting me know about it. Had no idea about the force feedback workaround, definitely going to try this later. The brake one is interesting too, I'll give that a go because racing the Dallara F3 car, with brake force down at 0.3 it's still quite easy to lock up, this could really help. I agree that just because someone doesn't have a wheel doesn't mean they can't have fun with iRacing and give it a go, and become competitive! My shoulder injury meant I recently sold my wheel and focused on controller now, definitely viable and recently got pole position in quali with controller, and came second in the race (replay on my channel). It's still just as intense as with the wheel. Hopefully the iRacing community will welcome more controller users, at the end of the day, if you drive sensibly and respect others, it doesn't matter what input you use. Subscribed and liked :) 👍
Rampski Just run about 8 laps as a test with the brake and feedback adjustments. Feedback is definitely an improvement. The brake adjust is a BIG improvement. Best way I can describe it is it gives a bit more of a zone on the trigger to apply the brake without it locking up. I mean, it will still lock up, but the zone to apply the brake is bigger and more controllable. I was able to run some consistent laps in the 59s on Sebring Club in the Dallara F3, whereas i'm usually in the consistent 1m00s before the adjustment. Thanks again for the tips, great work! 👍
Thanks man. I had zero vibration in my controller before, and now it is working perfectly. I can stay relatively safe during a race on a controller, if not fast ;)

This sounds like maybe it's the controller. Any chance you can return it?
@@rampski yeah I returned it got a new one same problem thanks for responding tho I'm just gonna try to find a wheel for under a 100
The only thing I can think is maybe you altered the wrong line with the brake tweak if you did that. If you followed the whole guide
I kinda regret buying a Scuf without a rumble pack. :/
Do you have to shift manually on controller?
You don't have to but I would recommend it
would this work with a PS4 controller?
I honestly don't know.. I'd say there's a good chance but I dont personally have one and haven't tried this with it so I dont want get your hopes up. If you give it a shot and it works let me know!
How would it work if I want to use it as an h pattern shifter?
That's a good question honestly. I'm not sure how you would do it. Maybe when you go to the config stuff
this is nice, a steering wheel just isn't a comfortable and enjoyable gaming experience for me
People can be as angry as they want but it's literally an option within the game
Yep. Its all about getting your feet wet. There is no reason to not play a racing game/sim just because you dont have a wheel. Some of the fastest sim racers use a controller
Hell yeah, sim racing is about people having fun.
@@rampski have you not listened to race chat? LOL There's more salt in iRacing voice chat than there is in a salt mine. hah! love it still, though.
5 wins this week. Console players matter.
I use a flight stick 😂
I wish I was joking 😅
So these are the people who always take everyone out t1
Hey now I've been taken out turn 1 many times to know its not exclusive to people who use a controller. Its just a matter of being overly aggressive way too early in the race. My irating is sitting around 2000+ so I haven't experienced what rookie races are like in a long long time, perhaps its different. I am a wheel user, just made the guide because I was bored and thought it could help someone. I think its not fair to assume the maniacs are using a controller. Not everyone can afford this hobby and if using a controller allows them to, I say why not.
@@rampski it was a joke
Fair enough. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Surprisingly I've had some really nasty, elitist comments on this video.
@@rampski im sorry to hear that, I think its a really cool idea. Ill sub.
do i need to put all the setting back to default in the notepad if i play with a Wheel ?
