Interesting side note about Voyager 1: They had a choice between exploring the ice giants and exploring titan. If they chose titan it would throw the probe off the trajectory to see the outer planets. Since they had 2 probes, they sent one one way and the other the other way. That's why Voyager 1 never saw Uranus or Neptune.
Its so weird to see that, even though its just a game, you could feel all the advance spacecrafts from advanced civilizations seeing this old little probe with ancient tecnology transmitting a strange language for them while having technology so obsolete it wouldnt even be worth a scrap. Keep on your voyage! Voyager!
I'm legit cried at this. Just thinking how far this probe had traveled, alone in the cold, empty space, bearing the message of the Humankind. Like an interstellar wanderer... You, my man. You deserved more. Take my subs.... And keep exploring.

I have Carl Sagan's photo of the Earth "Pale Blue Dot" on my office wall, Carl Sagan is my all time hero. As a boy I watched every second of Cosmos on TV and have the series on video and DVD now, his passing was a sad day, I will never get to meet my hero. Thanks for doing this video, I have tried 3 times to find Voyager (VGER), I will now try a fourth!
@MrAnonsos this is one of the dumbest comments I've seen on youtube, and easily the dumbest I've seen on an Elite Dangerous video. The dude has hero he looks up to, as do so many. Carl Sagan inspired an entire generation of scientists and explorers. What in the world is wrong with that? He's not worshiping him like a god, I don't even know why that idea would pop into your head.

Mr. Giraffe, I just wanted you to know that I subscribed to your channel just now, because of THIS video. I almost spilled a tear during your voice recording of Carl "the astronomer of the people" Sagan. In the legend's own words, "Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere". Thank you, Mr. Giraffe, for your imagination!!
I felt the same way. At least to me, it was kind of because the recording on the Voyager was a testament to everything human. All the voices you hear have been gone for thousands of years, but the things they had to say are still there. The songs you hear still convey all the emotions they needed to. Not only that, but it gives me hope that one day, we might actually be able to see Voyager again. That humanity might actually make it.
Amazing video! Thank you for making it. This has been on my bucketlist to do in game for so long. Two buddies and myself found it last night thanks to this video. Hands down one of the best things I have done in Elite Dangerous so far.
This is why I love this game so much. It may not have everything, but it's so realistic, high quality, and well thought out, that it's so immersive, it really makes our wonder about the mysteries of the galaxy...
This video is incredible. This goes to show just how much players are dedicated to their game and how much these developers were devoted to their game and an accurate portrayal of real history in a fictional universe. This is awesome.

That is amazing that Voyager 1 was included in the game. Also, such great detail too. One can hear your admiration for these thoughts & actions during this video. I cannot wait till I learn & progress enough in Elite to make my way to Sol.
It took me a while, but I managed to find Voyager 1 thanks to your video. Can confirm she's still roughly 2,317,000 ls from Sol. Good hunting CMDRs if you're still looking.
+CMDR Conspiracy It may be the only one. No one has been here since they needed the signal source to just 1k ls. It's been over 2yrs since anyone saw it last:)

4:05 - 6:30 Honestly had me tearing up. To think of how far mankind has come, and how far we'll go, it's amazing. We weren't born too early to experience space travel, we were born at the right time, to see it happen and feel excitement from a new, shiny rocket exiting the grasp of the Earth's gravity, to soar somewhere that no one has been to before. It's amazing. Only a tiny percent of the 7 billion people on Earth will ever get to experience what it's like to exit the atmosphere, but an even smaller percentage will escape the gravitational field. I yearn to witness the day when every news outlet on this planet is lit up with the headline, "MAN STEPS FOOT ON MARS"... Unfortunately, that day may never come for a lot of us. We may never get to Mars, but we tried. Anyone or anything that visits our sol-ar system, and our beautiful Earth, will see the civilization that reached for the stars, and nearly got a hold of it. Honestly, I'm just happy that we did get to the moon, and sent satellites out there into far parts of the galaxy... Because you know what, whoever finds our planet after the human race perishes, will be able to see that, and feel confident that they found intelligent life, that while being unable to get to Mars, managed to explore the universe together, as one, through an amazingly engineered satellite.

Hopefully people will like our personalities enough to follow us in that direction too;) Thanks again for the nice comment
I have to say, I really appreciate that you have the appropriate levels of Awe. Voyager is one of mankind's most amazing accomplishments, and it's so cool that you can see it in this game, and even that they have the recording!! Thanks for the amazing videos.
Wonder if there's a monolith out there too? 😊 Sagans speech was kinda there in the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy - when Zaphod was in the total perspective vortex and described as "an invisible dot, on an invisible dot.... Infinitely small".... And Huygens was the correct name (hooigen phonetically lol)
I got pretty close and couldn't find it, but then I decided to pull out my fss and found it, not sure how far I can find it from but the fss was awesome at that moment.
Apparently it's still moving because I was about 3,170,000 ls away and I pulled out my fss and found it, it was .012 ly away :/ from where the original point was

Hah thanks so much! It’s so hard to break into other fandoms but this is a great spot to make videos like these. Loads of freedom to make narratives. We are looking for other games but really hard to make time for new stuff. Having said that we also like making the informative sciencey videos too. Hopefully people will like our personalities enough to follow us in that direction too;)
Thanks again for the nice comment
Yep it’s still there! Good luck!
What i thought was just a tutorial just taught me some incredible stuff, Thanks for this :D
Happy to
Help! Thanks :)
Everytime i watch this video it shocks me on just how well done and well made it is, fantastic job Ghost Giraffe !
+The Disabled Gamer Thabks for all the views :) Glad it's still enjoyable :)
I have to say, I really appreciate that you have the appropriate levels of Awe. Voyager is one of mankind's most amazing accomplishments, and it's so cool that you can see it in this game, and even that they have the recording!! Thanks for the amazing videos.
No problem dude!
Wonder if there's a monolith out there too? 😊
Sagans speech was kinda there in the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy - when Zaphod was in the total perspective vortex and described as "an invisible dot, on an invisible dot.... Infinitely small"....
And Huygens was the correct name (hooigen phonetically lol)
I got pretty close and couldn't find it, but then I decided to pull out my fss and found it, not sure how far I can find it from but the fss was awesome at that moment.
Yeah I’m so glad they changed it so you can use FSS. Even for us it was a pain to find
Apparently it's still moving because I was about 3,170,000 ls away and I pulled out my fss and found it, it was .012 ly away :/ from where the original point was
That is mind blowing!! The amount of detail put into Elite is insanity!! Can't wait to start playing it again..left it for about a year because I got a new ship I can barely fly and my credits are so low that if I lose it I won't be able to get it back D:
Take care out there! Maybe do a few safe trade missions till you can get on your combat feet ;)
Update:Been fighting Goids since the Gnosis, helped make the biggest AX Community on Xbox, recently started a PC Acct. Too and am now fixing to make a deep space expedition, starting with a visit to Voyager (:
Dude I don't know but this made me cry the moment you found the voyager probe! Great vid btw
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed that :)
