    The scary thing i couldn't stop thinking about while watching this is that if you theoretically had a telescope that allowed you to look super closely at the surface of the Earth from this location, you would be seeing prehistoric humans from a world 16'000 years ago. Because a lightyear is the speed that light travels in one earth year, the light that reaches your retinas is from 16'000 years ago!

    • @davidwuhrer6704
      @davidwuhrer6704 2 года назад +20

      Not to worry, because of light dispersion you'd need a telescope the size of a small galaxy to get that resolution, and it would still not catch enough light from Earth specifically for it to be visible.

    • @soiherduliekvideoz
      @soiherduliekvideoz 7 лет назад +24

      If you're doing a jump a minute, you should be doing roughly 2,000 LY per hour optimally. Are you doing a ton of scanning in between the jumps?
      I personally spend significantly more time scanning than jumping, but that's mainly because I feel like I'd get bored of exploration if all I did was jump and glance at the system map.

    • @jyrgenruut
      @jyrgenruut 7 лет назад +9

      PonkaPone
      I have a 52Ly Asp and 2000 Ly/h is the speed I go at while honk-jumping. Virtually no FSD downtime since I start charging for the new jump while still inside the corona and fuel scooping. So I doubt he'd be able to get 2KLy per hour out of a 32Ly jump range...

Sideys max laden jumprange is 30(ish) ly, and you can fit only 2 A scoop in it, that takes almost half minutes to get even that tiny sidewinder fueltank full, so you get you pension before you get to that far with it!? And I doubt theres even stars so densely that sidey could even reach there with that lousy jumprange? Maybe they have really used some frleetcarrier or something? Were Andromeda not obscured by cosmic gas and dust, it would appear in our night sky to be several times larger than the moon. The Large Magellanic Cloud is considerably closer to the Milky Way than Andromeda.

    • @DonkeyFilms
      @DonkeyFilms 6 лет назад

      Brian it’s not only cosmic dust, but just the amount of time that it takes light to travel too. It’s a lot closer than we perceive it to be. Even if we could see it , andromeda would be distorted through light, the closer part would appear much larger than the farther side

      Been there. It's quite a view.
      But uh... No. Not in ED. I went there in Space Engine. Sat down on a "Temperate Terra With Life" planet, (Spent a few hours looking through star systems trying to find a TTWL) Waited until night, and looked up into the sky and... Wow. What a sight! The sky fading to black, The mountains on the horizon. And above.. Our own home galaxy.
      Got some nice screenshots of that and and the edge of an eclipse.
