The butterflies are on the Disney LA dress because of Ella’s connection and scene with her father in the beginning of the film with a butterfly. So in a way, with the butterflies and the dress having been her mother’s, she is bringing her parents to the ball with her. I find it so sweet.
@@Sophie_Pea Preach ! I was just watching Cinderella yesterday, the weather was so dismal. The Ocean relaxes me & Lily’s dress is like breaking Ocean Waves when they dance. 🥰
the part about lily's dress thats the best is that it outlines the unrealistic way dresses flow in cartoon, and actually made it real. the dress flows so easily and magically and its color and the way at certain angles it look silver makes it even better.
@@KimCarter and beyond that, it's got to be so heavy! (Internet says 20 pounds!! 😅) The dress in the 1965 R&H Cinderella was so heavy that the actress had to have shots in her back to deal with the pain!
2015's Cinderella feels like the only recent live action adaptation that actually had heart behind it. Given that Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess, I really appreciate it.
My fav princess as well and I still haven’t seen it 😭. I didn’t like it at first when I saw the trailer and the teaser of the shoe BUT after watching some small clips I am gonna give it a shot cause I did fall in love with the dress after. Not to mention Lily James 😭💕
@@Ashley-ro4xz find a way to see it asap! But don't expect the 1:1 adaptation like the other Disney remakes, they actually put some thought into this one!
So when she talks about “Into the woods” Cinderella. That movie is based off of the original Brothers Grimm version of Cinderella, and in the story she says “Shake and quiver, little tree, Throw gold and silver down to me.” She wears a gold and silver dress and her shoes are embroidered with silk and silver. So the dress wasn’t supposed so be like the Disney version, but the original telling of the story.
The Disney dress is based on the Charles Perrault version of the Cinderella fairy tale with a silver and gold dress and glass slippers that was published before the Grimm's version.
@@michaelquelet9603 having studied both the Grimm's and Peraults Donkeyskin, the 1950s was actually based on the Grimm's Brothers. Keep in mind the year it was released, a mere five years after WWII and the war America had with Germany in particular. At that time Americans were trying to distance themselves from Germans. And the Grimm's Brothers were German
@@scorchedroseproductions3266 But in the opening credits of the 1950 animated Disney Cinderella, they say they based it off of the Perrault version! It's the Perrault version.
I love the butterflies as she was robbed of her childhood when her mother died, and her childhood was the best time of her life with both her parents, so the butterflies making the dress ‘childish’ makes it even more magical.
I agree that the butterflies being childish does make it even more magical. And I loved that they used the butterflies because it symbolises a lot for that specific character. 🦋
In the Grimm version, Cinderella goes to the ball 3 times. She wears a silver gown, then a gold gown. On the last night, she wears as dress of Crystal's and the prince tars the stairs, hoping to stop her from running off at midnight as usual. Instead, she leaves her shoe behind in the tar.
I had a book with that version (not as gruesome as the original, but including the 3 dresses). I loved the illustrations of the dresses, in mine it was pink, then blue, then gold. I think that's so much nicer than the one-dress version.
Drew Barrymore and Lily James versions had the best costumes, ballgown dress, and storylines in my opinion. They still take my breath away and make me with I was there, just stunning
Here in Czech Tree nuts is a christmas classic. I love this version for being feminst movie while Cinderella is not waiting for being rescued by prince charming but she is very capable to take care of herself. Also Libuška was (she died for lung cancer recently) one of the nation's sweatheart and very deserved because she was an exceptional actress. She will never be forgotten.
The Live action Disney Cinderella makes me want to cry. It’s the color of blue morpho butterfly wings and spins with the same joy as a carousel at the fair. Yet Lily James still stands out and looks gorgeous. She’s not washed out by the dress. And that’s really what matters.
I agree. Cinderella is one of my favorite Princesses and I love the original and am so pleased with the live action remake of 2015. It’s beautiful and I feel like it really captures the original magic that Disney created so long ago. And lets not forget the addition of the glitter to her skin. So gorgeous and magical! I don’t even mind it being blue in the live action as it stands out amongst the crowd and if it were silver I think it would have looked like a wedding gown...😊
Into the Woods' is based on the original version of fairy tales, where Cinderella's dress is meant to be silver and gold. Maybe the gold was to distance this version from Disney's original Cinderella, idk
I liked that version. Maybe it needed a bit structure, it looked limp in the sitting scene, but it fit the film and I liked the gold color and how it was made.
I think a silver or blue dress would look really weird with that 'slipper as pure as gold.' A gold dress makes sense. Though I can't remember what color she wears on Broadway . . .
Yes, she wears three dresses in that version. The second one is silver and the third one is gold with slippers made out of pure gold. I liked that on the dress too...
Ever After did what no other Cinderella ever could. Capturing magic, without it ever using magic in the movie. This movie is so dear to my heart and I think it's one of the best movies ever.
It feels more like a Cinderella story if it was told from an actual historical event in human history. Having Leonardo DaVinci being the "fairy godmother, as an inventor he crafts Daniel's wings to make her stand out at the masquerade ball. And of course an assertive and proactive Cinderella who earns her prince through being herself and building friendships and alliances like with the one nice stepsister Jacqueline, her friend Gustav, and all sorts of people who events her life.
The reason the dress in “Into the woods” is gold, is because it is based on the “original” fairytale and not the disney movie. In the original story, cinderellas dress and shoes are gold. And she doesn’t lose the shoe accidently, the prince puts tar on the steps to stop her from running 😊
I totally agree- I was about to say that same thing- brandys more true to the dress an how it’s glittery an silvery she stands out from all the other girls....( an how she’s supposed to)
Disney animated one (silver white not blue!, that’s only in shadows Disney marketing) is my favorite. I didn’t like it that much as a kid since it’s not colorful and very simple. But now O like the simple timelessness.
I crushed hard on Cinderella as a kid, and that dress is the most enchanting in the film (although she does look better with the blue bow in her hair in my opinion)
People from Europe definitely love the Czech version. Libuse Safrankova is the most beatiful Cinderella, even the Disney one actress could not compare. Iconic.
The most significant thing about the dress of the Czech version of Cinderella is actually the cloak she arrives in - at least for me. The soft fabric and the sheer beauty of the actress, combined with the candle lights illuminating everything just make it very romantic and magical. But I do understand, why nostalgia would play a big role in the way one perceives the outfit
I'm surprised the significance of the bird on the back of the 'Tři oříšky pro Popelku' dress has gone over so many peoples head's. It's a phoenix, a bird that rebirths itself from ashes. who is Cinderella but a girl who rises from literal ashes? that's what her name represents. The Czech dress is genius.
@@bennmordecai6395 Exactly! And in the movie Cinderella (Aschenbrödel) explains that her mother promised her a pink ballgown. So the dress makes perfecly sense in the story (and it looks just too beautiful )
ugh the stepmother's outfits were so sharp- she looked like she was ready to kill a man. its disgusting how Cinderella's ballgown makes me want to fall in love and dance in an abandoned castle with the man of my dreams just AHHSBDBSJAKS
@@jules6578 I agree with you too lol, but I guess the "sharpness" of the stepmother's outfits, were supposed to be metaphorical for her bitter personality.
The jacket Prince is wearing does look the same blue in the same scene when the jacket is while in scenes in light. The blue is just way the animation implies it’s in shadow. The way the many colors in Belle’s dress in animated film imply its golden yellow, not canary yellow of the live action film.
In animation, for nighttime scenes, you shade with blue. This goes for most painting too. Shading with gray would just be ugly and boring, so most artists go with blue so the shading doesn't just look dirty and sad
I am into cosplay and I had a headache fighting with my guy about a specific character's hair (Girls Frontline Game HK416) me saying it's silver and him saying it's blue. Then I learned that there's such colour called STEEL BLUE which may be known to be called blue-gray. It really looked silver one moment and blue in another moment. I guess the animated version is silver (or steel blue) and looks a lot blue because it is nighttime.
Mai2727 I honestly like it both ways. I think Disney should market their princesses with both looks. I like how they do that with Ariel... I think that’s why so many little girls love Ariel, she has diverse looks not to mention a tail 😉
@@dany9276 It's pretty ironic how she rees over the corset yet has worn and still wears a lot of pink, which is by stereotype a feminine color, which makes third wave feminists ree because any color should be seen as feminine and not just pink because that's a stereotype color for women in fiction and in real life. While at the same time, these third wave feminists wear pink to embrace femininity because they are proud women and who the fuck are you to tell them what color to wear. But pink does suit her, and I like pink. Heck, my wardrobe and house consist mostly pale or pastel pink.
In the czech version of the film it is mentioned, that cinderellas mother wanted to sew a ball gown for her for her first ball, coming together with a cloak and pink shoes, which resembles the dress she actually wears at the ball. I think that is a very important detail that connects the dress with the storyline of the film. Just wanted to say this because the Czech version is actually my favourite. I watch it every year around Christmas together with my father which is a really important tradition for me
yes so it is basically the only cinderella dress made based on Cinderella's wishes ( quite literaly). it is a dress her mother would have made for her. and an important part is the cloak that makes the effect as someone mentioned here
Ever After is honestly just perfect. The reworking of the story into renaissance social justice Cinderella? Actual relationship development between the girl and the prince, and giving the prince a personality? The gorgeous costumes and sets? The music? FAIRY GODMOTHER LEONARDO DA VINCI? It’s all just beautiful and that scene of Danielle arriving at the ball in her wings dress has been imprinted on my soul since I was like, 6.
I agree. Never mind the dress, which is magical and ethereal without seeming animated and unreal.....I just love this version of the story. The character is full of heart and vulnerability and romance, but can still get angry and fight back and be strong and realistic. The 2015 version is such a sap and a victim I hated it.
My mum rented the movie for us as a rare treat one summer, and we watched it the same day as a solar eclipse... That movie is embedded into my soul as magic
This is one of my favorite films of all time, and I fell HARD for Dougray Scott when I saw this at the impressionable age of 13. Honestly still in love with him lol
yes! the same for me, that whole movie was so beautiful. I have a lot of nostalgia for this film, it was the first movie we ever got that was on DVD. and that scene where she arrives at the masquerade... my goodness, also imprinted on my soul haha
I love this movie so much, and that dress especially. I also love the detail about the dress and shoes belonging to her mother, just gave the whole costume a bit more meaning than something whipped up with magic (particularly important in a version with no magic). There's a reason Drew Barrymore consider Danielle her favourite role.
I'm surprised you included the Czech version, but it's iconic so I'm glad. The best part of that dress is a pink cape she takes off and the veil. I love how soft and delicate she looks in it, especially because up until then she is anything but.
Yes and I love how soft she looks in comparison to all the other people at the ball who all do the most (like the stepmom and stepsister with those hats 😂😂)
Well it might surprise you even more to learn that the color of her dress isn’t the only thing they changed about her colors during the marketing stage. I have no idea why they changed this since I think the original color looks better, but in the original Disney movie her hair isn’t yellow, it’s strawberry blonde.
i actually think that bird on Cinderella's dress in Three hazelnuts for Cinderella is a phoenix - she is always mentioned to be dirty from cleaning ashes, so it seems quite meaningful, as she rises from ashes to better life.
I thought thats how she got her name, her OG name was Ella she was a maid/slave for her step sisters and step mom, she slept beside the fire place so when she was woken up by her stepmom to make breakfast for all of them, she had ashes on her face and her stepsisters named her "CINDERella"
The Grimm tale had Cinderella in a gold dress and ‘into the woods’ was more focused on the Grimm version of the tales instead of the more well known Disney version
I agree that I wouldn't have put it as last, but I can see what she is talking about when she says that they probably could have used a better material for the gold color. Personally I absolutely adore the songs more than anything and will choose Into the Woods over so many other things so many times. So the dress didn't really subtract for me. It was the setting and I think that was your point.
I think it was put last partly because of the lack of structure. A ball gown needs to have crinolines or, at the very least, some petticoats. You should not clearly see the outline of the legs under the skirts, makes it look awkward, especially when they're dancing. The way the skirt flops listlessly when she sits was very off putting. If you are going to use limp fabrics, then you really need to put structure under them to give them some shape. The color was ... an interesting choice. If you're going for forest tones, then commit to that, if you're going for gold, commit to that. Don't waffle halfway between the two. All in all, it looks like a dress that too many people had input into and that no one person had a vision for.
What i also liked and she didn't mentioned was the shoes and how she lost it. Because this is the accurate way from the fairytale.. And in the fairytale Cinderella has a silver gown on the first ball, a golden on the second. In the traditional fairytale version its a tree on her mother's grave that is giving her the dresses not a fairy at all..
Lily James’ dress is my favorite; the color/s are beautiful and the butterflies are whimsical. But I’ve always really like Brandy’s too. They did a good job copying the animated dress. Cinderella’s dress in the animated version is a one reason she’s my favorite Disney princess.
the BEST thing about Cinderella´s outfit in "3 Hazelnuts for Cinderella" is the COAT! the light pink coat with the big hood is still one of the most beautiful, magical winter outfits I´ve ever seen in film
"3 nuts for Cinderella" dress - if you are interested in period fashion and go further than just 18th/17th century, you can tell that this movie was supposed to be set some time around the late 14th/ early 15th century in bohemia. I am not saying that its 100% accurate, but it gives me that vibe (although the collar could be lower). Also I think its more about the colour of the dress. If you know this movie, you can notice that Cinderella is wearing darker, more plain colours like grey and brown, but once she gets the magical chestnuts, every piece of fabric coming out of it is somehow lighter and colourful. Like her green hunting dress with 2 different stockings, pink ball gown and finally her wedding dress which I think is cherry on top in this film. I also love how Cinderella and the prince dont fall in love with each other right away, and how they tease each other.
Ok so this is amazing to know and I'll have a close look at the movie this year but honestly I am a huuuugggeee fan of the fact that this isnt like famous American movies only.....don't misunderstand me but we talk much more about American movies/movies in English than all others weather it's European, Asian etc.......sooo big thank you for being objective about this ❤️❤️❤️
@@winterstormkillingya7630 YES! It is true that movies from USA or England are more popular among people so movies from smaller countries are often forgotten although they deserve as much recognition. I think it is because its harder to find these kind of movies with proper subtitles and also because society in this century is more familiar with culture from west countries, so in some cases it might be hard to understand what is going on in some scenes.
I am from Czech and we watch this film every christmas and it never gets boring and comapared to other czech films from that time i think this film is one of the best crech films
I totally agree Disney’s cinderella 2015 had the best dress. It was so magical it actually looks like it came from a fairy god mother. The sewn swarovski crystals shows the attention to detail the dress creators had. Truly the best one ever worn by a cinderella character
That blue ball gown I remember it so clearly, when I went to the cinema to watch the movie I was just in awe. It looked spectacular in my opinion, especially how it glimmers and also watching how it came to be. All in all, I loved it. Edit: 2015 Version.
I think that they used the butterflies on the dress as a reference to a scene with her father at the beginning of the movie. Although I still don’t really like the butterflies on the dress because I think they look quite tacky and childish, I like the connection it has with her father. So I think the butterflies look good on the shoes but like you said the dress probably would of looked nicer with gems and diamonds.
I would have taken the butterflies off the neckline, and instead put a single butterfly into the structure of the bodice, making it look like a butterfly is wrapping itself around her. It would be a tad more subtle, but would keep the connection to her father.
I don’t really like the fact that the butterflies are that colorful, it would have been better if they had the same color or if there weren’t any butterflies. The dress looks childish and cheap with it
I agree but I think the whole idea of the butterfly also connects to change so it would make sense that they’d show up when she almost comes out of her cocoon and has this big change.
Drew Barrymore's Danielle/Cinderella was the most iconic I've ever seen, and she will forever be my favorite Cinderella. And her dress is gorgeous, while also being historically accurate.
My favorite movie! My husband quotes it too because I've seen it so many times 🤣 one of my faves "the sooner you leave. The sooner (I) can celebrate your return." Also love that she wasn't a weakling! She stood up for herself so many times!
@@Jmart003 one of my favorite moments is Jaqueline helping Danielle after the fight, and she laughs and says “I’ll never forget the way her feet went over her head like that...”
African lily he did, and then he made the stepmother(who like sold her to Riff raff from Rocky Horror picture show) and step sister into laundry ladies, the nice step sister married the captain of the guard.
I think they added butterflies to the dress of Cinderella (2015) because one of the gifts her father gave her that she keeps throughout the story is the paper butterfly. It's like a symbolic keepsake.
Also butterflies tend to symbolize innocence, kindness and inner and outer beauty. Also remember the cartoon glass slipper had a sparkly heart on it but 2015 changed it to a sparkly butterfly. The butterflies on the collar were prob to go with it.
The Czech version was and probably is one of the best Christmas movies to this day, well at least in France and Europe. Trois noisettes pour Cendrillon, the movie, the music...so moving and captivating.
I think that it speaks volumes about the quality and a pure magic that is in that movie that despite in being filmed in 1970s during a deep deep communism in Czechoslovakia it still managed to become classic in many European countries - western Europe included.
The three hazelnuts dress might seem a bit shapeless and simple at first glance but if you really watch the movie and get used to the silhouette, its SO beautiful, unique and elegant. Her beauty in that dress always makes me gasp and stare, even after watching that movie at least 30 times.
also every dress (inculding the fur one) is a big reveal ending with the weddingdress. and u need a look at the cape she's wearing. never seen something prettier!
Same as everyone else is saying here. The movie adaptation is fun, but it's also extremely over the top, bears almost zero resemblance to the book, and somehow almost all the costumes and sets come off as weirdly amateur & low-budget. The book is charming and delightful and so much more heartfelt, and her other fairy tale adaptations are hilariously good as well.
Thank you soo much for including "three nuts for cinderella". It's part of my childhood and by far my favourite adaptation. I still watch it every Christmas (it's, for obvious reasons, considered a winter movie here in Germany) and get nostalgic. I always loved her dress but to be exact I loved it more when she wore the pink cloak. She looked so stunning in that. I always forget that the actual dress was mostly silver. And of course I love the wedding dress. It has a gorgeous shape, especially the sleeves and perfectly captures her character and new found openness, compared to the veil she was sporting before. Thank you so much for the video, I really enjoyed it :)
This movie shaped my entire childhood. Its still an annual Christmas tradition in my family. It's my absolute favourite rendition of cinderella or rather Aschenbrödel
No other Cinderella's ball gown could beat Drew Barrymore's breathtakingly and dreamy gown. It has its realistic style that fits the era/theme of the movie. And the wings made the gown unique, not too flashy and not too over the top, just the right addition to standout in the crowd. She looks so fairytaley 😍
@LI VE I agree with you. I would put the Lily James gown in the middle somewhere because I didn't think the blue did anything for her complection and neither did her wig. I really loved Brandys dress, but Drew Barrymore was my all-time favorite. It suited her and it suited the story.
Aside from its gorgeousness, what also makes that gown my favorite is the backstory behind it. While I love the 2015 Cinderella version, it drove me NUTS that Ella asked to keep her mother's dress and the Fairy Godmother pretty much turned it into something new anyway.
I think it’s possible for it to look right in the cases when it’s more delicate, like made with lace, or on a sheer fabric. And probably outlines of butterflies, not solid, brightly colored ones.
Livia Marques I see what you’re saying. The style of the movie makes it a bit more fitting. However, I think they could have made the butterflies more elegant, and magical.
I feel like the butterflies might have been added specifically for children? When I was a child I loved butterflies and anything on it and despite everything about the dress being gorgeous I think if I watched the film as a child I definitely would have focused on the butterflies on the dress and shoes
I LOVE that you mention Czechoslovakian Cinderella adaptation! I watch the Czechoslovakian version every Christmas as it's a national tradition. I couldn't find many details about the dress, but the patterns are reminiscent of traditional folklore in Slovakia and Czechia. In the context of the movie, Cinderella here is very boyish and an excellent hunter making her seem more "rough" and skilled than other fairytale versions, so giving her a dress that seems girly not only with color but also in the movement of the fabric was a sign of her transformation and showing her more womanly side. It is excellent work by the costume designers as before she has a hunter dress and looked "like a man" and now she seems very delicate with floating dress. White color dresses are heavily featured in folklore, but pink is rarer giving it an exclusive feel. On a personal note, this movie is a stand-alone for me, and I never tried to compare it with other cinderella movies or adaptation. Generally, growing up in Slovakia, I can say that our film adaptations of many fairytales are more down to earth and incorporate less glammed up concept, as many of the fairytales comes from European folklore, also all of our characters have a lot of depth and females are generally strong characters. I appreciate more Hollywood-ish representation, but it somehow pale in comparison in my childhood mind (as I watch them very rarely now) it seems like there was so much going on for the protagonists. Maybe that's why the Ever After is another very popular version of Cinderella in Slovakia. Thank you for the video!
I think part of the reason people remember animated Cinderella's dress as being blue is because its tinted blue during the scenes where she is meant to be in shadow/dark. Like when she and the prince are alone before she runs off. But that is still my favorite dress. It has the advantage of being animated so you get all the sparkly elements every time she moves. I might have choosen the blue dress from the newer movie since they used CGI to replicate that effect but I HATE the butterflies. It just ruins the look for me.
The dress was originally white, but to be put into DVD and bluray the grain becomes so scrubbed that most of the line work is completely lost in the end. If you had a VCR version you would see the original appearance and it looked much more lovely and vibrant
The butterflies almost can't be seen. They are shown in the shoes just once, and they do not catch the eye in the rest of the scenes, where the different hues of translucent fabric and the crystals catch the eye. I didn't even see them after their first appearance. The hues of the dress steal the show.
“Into the Woods” was actually the most accurate of them all. They focused on the Grimm's original Cinderella tale. In the tale, the ball lasted 3 nights, and in each she received a different dress. The golden is very accurate considering the old illustration books. The Into the Woods version is more accurate than Disney version and all of them. (also, the stepsisters cut their toes to fit the crystal shoe, which actually happens in the original tale.)
@@patheticmortal373 It's a common argument, but a very weak one. The original story uses the text "pantoufles de verre" on three separate occasions. The other argument is that in being told the tale, Perrault misheard the storyteller, but even then, "vair" would not have been a common term in the time the story was transcribed. It was a word that had pretty much fallen out of use. It's possible that it was being used to suit the mythological feel of the story, but that's a question that will ultimately never be answered. All we know for sure is that in Perrault's text, he does indeed call them glass slippers.
Yesss I'm german and for years this was the only version I knew. Til this day it's still my favorite, I especially love the way she's both tough and loving and how her outfits represented her character 😍
Being Czech, I might be a bit biased, but I really like this version the best. Cinderella is no pushover, she fights against her stepmother and stepsister, is witty and even sarcastic, makes fun of the prince, shoots and rides horses at least as well if not better than him and changes him for the better thorough the story.
I prefer the czech wedding dress over the ballgown but either way I love it. I wish they had dubbed it in english so I can share it with everyone. I speak both german and checz aswell ao its kind of frustrating.
For me it's definitely _Aschenbrödel_ (the czech/german movie) - I adore the film, it's the best adaption in my opinion and I grew up with it so I just adore it. But I also generally find the costumes of the film beautiful, and I love that she has a veil - it gets rid of the horrible "why can't the Prince remember her face that's so weird" fiasko. As fir the significance of her blue-silver-pink ballgown: She tells the owl that guard her sparce belongings that her father had said once she'd _ride to her first Ball like a Husar_ and that her mother had promise to sew her _a beautiful dancing dress with a veil and train and pink dancing shoes to go with it_ so basically the magic hazelnuts gave her the dress her dead mother had imagined for her when she was still alive.
Hi, I'm from the Czech Republic. Our Cinderella, which you finally rated as sixth in the ranking, is based on period drawings. The dress is from the Gothic period, so the 12th to 15th century. She has her hair uncovered because she's not married, but once she gets married, she'll have to wear her hair under a bonnet.
The whole style of the film is more like 15th-16th century. A lot of the clothes at the court/ball are very late 15th-early 16th century in style. Cinderella's dress is more fantasy than anything, but with its high waist and simpler silhouette, it's definitely inspired by 15th century styles. And it makes a lot of sense to me as a stylistic choice, because that was a big period in Czech history, with a lot of change, unprecedented level of religious freedom (still limited, but definitely unprecedented), elected non-hereditary kings... The music at the ball also echoes that period to a degree, it's definitely part of what makes it work so well even if you're not consciously aware of it.
The period in which the movie is set is in between 1470 to 1490, likely 1480. The pink dress is NOT period, and the gowns at the ball are a mishmash of that period and maybe like 20 years later, but they are all still from the early Renaissance period. In England, for comparison, it would take place in the Wars of the Roses period, likely at the end of Margaret of Anjou´s and Henry VIth´s period.
About that “dove“ in the 1973 czech film. I belive that dove at the back is not a dove at all but a phoenix (out of the ashes). Anyway it's not the dress we love. It's a Cinderella who is equal to the prince and can give him a hard time with a wink. He will never win a hunt again with her riding along him, after all, but he loves her regardless. At the Ball it's not Cinderella, my frinds and I celebrate btw. but little Rose. That acress stole the show.
It never ceases to amaze me how popular the movie from my small country is around the world. Yes, the most important aspect of that movie is the feminist portrayal of Cinderella. So ahead of its time. But if we're speaking dress only, it's a pity that her pink cape she takes off before the ball wasn't included.
@@SvobodovaEva That movie and espacially her tune (title melody) is so amazing. My Sister and i still watch this religiously every Christmas Season (a couple of times). And little Rose is absolutely killing her scenes. She's just the best. :D Edit likes to add: We actually already as little girls loved that she was equal to the prince and a better hunter than him. The message is still to this day a very important message.
Okay not so fast :) Many of us absolutely love the dresses, actually all the costumes. No Disney movie has ever come close, as far as I'm concerned. That costume designer was a genius. Doesn't mean I don't love Cinderella's resourcefulness, she made me so proud as a little girl. A true role model.
I love Cinderella's dress because it is so soft and she is still the most beautiful girl at the ball eventhough everyone else is just doing the most (like the step mom's hat and little rose's character 😂)
SvobodovaEva, I can’t count how many times I watched that movie. Not only by myself but with my cousins and friends. Tri Oreshka is one of our favorites and we would always watch it growing up. It’s a really fun adventure and I practically know every line(I watch it in Russian). I’m really thankful for it and I’m glad it’s popular:)
„Three nuts for Cinderella“ or as we say in Germany „Drei Nüsse für Aschenbrödel“ is actually one of my favorit films. It’s like an tradition in our family that we watch every winter at least 2 times. I practically grew up with it.
I really think it's a tradition for a lot of European countries. I remember looking it up and it's on every Christmas in a surprising amount of countries. There's a reason why it endures though. It is pretty good. Even badly dubbed into Norwegian.
And it's filmed in winter! There really is no better Christmas fairytale💓 It also has an intelligent plot and a witty humor, and a very emancipated protagonist, which is all rare! Oh, and let's not forget the prince's character development 😌
same for me :D And im from Czech Republic :) tři oříšky pro Popelku isy favorite childhood movie. The movie outfits Is very inspired by medieval times.
Just to complete your info about czech version of Cinderella - the costumes are designed very thoroughly for all the actors in the renaissance style of dresses, that´s why you dont see your typical torso of 19th century woman dress there. And most importantly - all the costumes in this movie are designed by Theodor Pištěk - close coworker of Milos Forman, who also won Oscars for his costume designs in the famous Forman’ s movie Amadeus...
I absolutely LOVE the costumes in Three nuts for Cinderella. They make the movie feel both wonderfully magical but also down to earth and authentic for the era the fairytale places itself it.
The Czech version is classic. No one really thinks about it deeply since it's out Christmas movie they play every Christmas. It's really interesting story and movie too since...I really hate the love in first sigh cliché and Cinderella and prince have more time together to actually fall in love (I am talking about the hunt or whatever it was). I respect your opinion and agree that if you have the nostalgie to it, it's much more beautiful to you
@@artemisjuliussilver5252 No, it´s actually a Co-Production. The castle e.g. is in Germany and they used funds from the old CSSR and DDR (East Germany)
"Three nuts for Cinderella" is easily the Cinderella movie I have seen the most. It ALWAYS comes on around Christmas and often on Christmas Eve. And honestly it's my favorite. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of the dresses themselves.
I love that film and tbh when i was young i looved that dress asell. I had a phase myself where I didnt liked it but nowdays I love it again. I just love that pink tone.
Chiara B It’s actually the same in norway, we also watch it on christmas eve morning every year, but the movie is dubbed with a guy saying all the voices haha:)
the Lilly James gown hands down. Also all of Cate Blanchett's costuming throughout the entire film. The costume designer on that film should have won every award and some that weren't invented yet!
The thing about Three nuts for Cinderella is that I don't think the ballgown is supposed to be the best/grandest/prettiest one. That's the wedding dress at the end for the grand finale to complete her transformation into a princess. But the ballgown is still very pretty and flowy and is a great contrast to the lady of the house and her daughter, who are dressed in real tacky ensembles. The sheer layers then help to make her look like a ghost or mirage when she runs away, as if she was never real, while the prince goes bonkers trying to find her. Thinking about it, I haven't seen it in a while despite growing up with it. I should watch it this Christmas!
The european (czech) cinderella is my absolutely favourite! The dress was every girls dream.. i remeber watching it the first when i was little. It just had that fairyish and weightless feeling to it. the bird on the back is actually a phoenix and is a symbol of her courage and ambitious personality

Yeah, and I specifically adore the relationship between the prince and Aschenbrödel. It was always fun to watch as a child when he tries to solve her riddle and helps establish the characters Also the stepmom and stepsisters getting thrown into the lake was hilarious
There's just something about Brandy's dress that is unforgettable for me. I loved that movie so much even getting it on VHS as a kid and now owning it on DVD. That dress says Cinderella to me even more than the original Disney version.
@Bill Mikey I wasn't saying that Disney was the original Cinderella, I was saying the original Disney Cinderella as in the Brandy movie was also Disney as was the 2015 version but the first Cinderella that Disney made in 1950 would be the original Disney made.
@Gi Gi I was about to say, I thought there was a version where she went to more than one ball and one of the dresses came from a tree?? I read a LOT of fairy tales when I was little so I might be mixing a few together and remembering wrong.
@@emilylightsey6374 The german Brothers Grimm version. It's the tree on her mothers grave. I explained it in another, bigger comment here =) She gets two dresses in that story for two balls. One silver, one gold.
The symbolism you've missed accidently on 3 hazelnuts for Cinderella: She has a phoenix-motive embroydered on her gown. This is a reference to Cinderella undergowing a rebirthlike transformation;) Sorry for my English;)
@@Trissana281 exactly! A properly fitted corset should not limit your ability to breath. It served the same purpose that bras do today (albeit they had more structure, and helped with posture). Idk why it’s so hard for movie makers/costumers to properly fit or at least make the corset comfortable.
Ur so right! I saw it in the theater and fell asleep and I told my friend I’m so sorry I am apparently exhausted, but the last thing I remember was the girl playing Cinderella gasping! 😆
three nuts for cinderella is one of the most famous czech movies, its actually a czech-german coproduction, the actress playing cinderella is one of the most famous and prettiest actresses in czech republic. this movie has been on tv on christmas eve since forever so it carries a lot of nostalgia for basically all generations
@@rocio8396 We've got a lot of fairytale movies, because it's been sort of a tradition to get a new one every (or every other) Christmas. The best ones are the older ones, however, so what I'd recommend is Pyšná princezna, Dvanáct měsíčků, Tři veteráni, Šíleně smutná princezna and Princ a večernice. (Not sure how hard it is to find subtitles in english for them...) I'm not much into Czech movies outside of fairytales, so can't recommend others, sadly.
@@rocio8396 Czech fairy tales/princess movies: "Pyšná princezna" (proud princess) - black-and-white but a great movie "Šíleně smutná princezna" (incredibly sad princess) - musical-ish, kind of sarcastic, very funny "Jak se budí princezny" (how to wake up a princess) - sleeping beauty, I really like it "Princezna se zlatou hvězdou na čele" (princess with a golden star on her forehead) - funny, the original rhymes "Byl jednou jeden král"/"sůl nad zlato" (once upon a time there was a king/salt is more precious than gold) - these are my personal favorites
Other movies: "Marečku, podejte mi pero" (Mark, hand me a pen) - communism influenced, but a great funny movie "Rebelové" (rebels) - musical, end of school themed, portrays the 1968 occupation "Pelíšky" (lairs/beds) - partly Christmas movie, partly 1968 occupation related movie, notorious quotes "Slunce, seno, jahody" (sun, hay, strawberries) - so dumb it's actually funny (Czech humor) "Vrchní, prchni" (waiter, duck out) - really good movie
To me, ever after and Cinderella’s three nuts have the best costume design. I grew up watching those movies so I just fell in love with historical dresses
Three nuts to Cinderella is hands down my favorite. I do think parts of it comes down to nostalgia, as this is a movie me and MANY others from Norway see every Christmas. Just a few notes from the absolutely beautiful melody of the movie is enough to give me the Christmas feeling. I have never been a big fan of pink, but that soft shade is really pretty not gonna lie. I've always found that dress so beautiful. I love how soft and flowy the veil and sleeves look, the hairdo and accessories fit so well, love the patterns on the dress fabric. I never noticed the bird motif on the dress, only the phoenix on her back.
When I saw Drew Berrymore in that dress when I was a child it may have been the first time I fell (or almost) in love with someone. She looked like a goddess to me, I couldn't believe how pretty she looked
As a german I was so happy when I saw Cinderella wear gold in "into the woods". I definitely see your point but concidering that the movie/ musical mostly goes with the Grimm versions of the stories I just ADORE the golden dress
I think the only reason they have butterflies on the ball dress in 2015, is a reference to her mother. Butterfly’s are used quite a bit throughout the film though I’m not to sure why. Loved this video by the way! ❤️⭐️
I am gonna be very honest, the book Ella Enchanted is much better and more interesting than the film. I listened to the audiobook on RUclips and I think it is more entertaining and interesting then the film.
I think the movie is super cute and I love Ella and Char together, but the book is one of my favorite books of all time! It's so sweet and romantic and I just love it. I like how they were younger and I like the multiple days they go to the ball. I'd like to see a more accurate to book movie.
Thank you for bringing that up. I read the book when I was a kid and loved it. The movie is completely different from the book. The book was actually set back in time (not modern times) and was a serious fantasy story-not a silly campy story. Even though I was taken aback when I saw the movie, I learned to like it. But I still would love to see a faithful TV show or movie adaptation of the book.
Three nuts for Cinderella lovely and magical in a very down to earth way. To me this movie belongs to Christmas! You can tell that at the time they didn't have much to work with but they still made a timeless classic.
I completely agree and I feel like "lovely and magical in a very down to earth way" is the perfect way to describe it. Everything about the aesthetics of this movie is just perfect imo.
I know the Czeck Version looks unusual at first, but believe me, it really grows on you! Especially in combination with her pink coat. I admit it can't beat Lily James gown, but it's definitely in second place for me.
I just love Drew in Ever After. I don't know what it is but the style is just so delicate and not too overdone. It shows her more as a relatable person. And using her mothers things seems more meaningful. As well as her makeup. Drew is already so naturally stunning and the sparkly not too overdone makeup makes her look even more beautiful. I'm not a fashion expert I just always loved that.
@lilly lazer Me too!! i Loved that little difference.....torn between her loyalty towards her mother and sister, BUT.....also being on the receiving end of her mothers sharp tongue, (wasn't Angelica Houston..PERFECT in that roll!?), she was better able to somewhat understand Danielle... GREAT Cast! Rolled laughing when: "Madam, you may have anything you can carry".....so she picks up the Prince, turns & gives a little curtsy...and walks off! ROFLLL
I'm European and I absolutely love the 3 nuts for Cinderella to be honest it's my personal favorite so I'm happy to see someone finally appreciating the film
Because she's the best.fairytale.princess.evver. in the best fairytale film ever. And there are many more reasons than just nostalgia for this. Also, her dress deserves a higher ranking.
I was surprised not to see Leslie Ann Warren's Cinderella dress (1965) on the list. As a child, seeing that version of Cinderella, I wanted that dress.
This was the first live-action Cinderella that I saw. I was fifteen, oldest of 6 girls and my mom lets us stay up after 9 to see it. To this day, it is my favorite rendition, with Drew Barrymore a close second.
The butterflies are on the Disney LA dress because of Ella’s connection and scene with her father in the beginning of the film with a butterfly. So in a way, with the butterflies and the dress having been her mother’s, she is bringing her parents to the ball with her. I find it so sweet.
Nikki Mouse yeah! kind of like she has her parents with her
plus I like the butterflies on the shoes
I appreciate the sentiment behind the butterflies but they just felt super tacky to me. Maybe if they were all silver or less childish.
It is sweet, but I just don't like the way they look. Maybe if she had just one butterfly in her hair or something.
That is really sweet but... I think it still just looks childish
The 1950s Disney Cinderella is without a doubt one of my favourite animated dresses of all time

@@Sophie_Pea Preach ! I was just watching Cinderella yesterday, the weather was so dismal. The Ocean relaxes me & Lily’s dress is like breaking Ocean Waves when they dance. 🥰
In my opinion Cinderella is the best live action Disney movie 😊
the part about lily's dress thats the best is that it outlines the unrealistic way dresses flow in cartoon, and actually made it real. the dress flows so easily and magically and its color and the way at certain angles it look silver makes it even better.
Absolutely. Except, apparently, it's not unrealistic - just very expensive.
Just that it’s actually real
I love the dress, but I get stressed out watching her dance in it lol. Seems like there’s so much that could easily go wrong
All of the costumes were stunning. I loved her stepmother wardrobe.
My fav princess as well and I still haven’t seen it 😭. I didn’t like it at first when I saw the trailer and the teaser of the shoe BUT after watching some small clips I am gonna give it a shot cause I did fall in love with the dress after. Not to mention Lily James 😭💕

The Jungle Book?
@Goku Chichi Nope lol.
It's a shame they made it look so dark and green though
Thank you, I came to comment this! The glass slipper was definitely never in the original story 😄
I love the butterflies as she was robbed of her childhood when her mother died, and her childhood was the best time of her life with both her parents, so the butterflies making the dress ‘childish’ makes it even more magical.
@@Phoebe545 yes, I completely agree aha
Yes I love them
I loved the butterflies too
The problem is the butterfly appliques look cheap. I don’t mind the butterflies if they had been small crystal butterflies. Or done in an elegant way.
I agree that the butterflies being childish does make it even more magical.
And I loved that they used the butterflies because it symbolises a lot for that specific character. 🦋
Every costume in 3 Hazelnuts is pure gold. Particularly the step mother's hat.

Lily is a rare beauty, too. Perfect English Rose. Up there with Cate and Kiera and Romola.
Agreed, that dress is absolutely amazing and she looks amazing in it too.
😂
I had a book with that version (not as gruesome as the original, but including the 3 dresses). I loved the illustrations of the dresses, in mine it was pink, then blue, then gold. I think that's so much nicer than the one-dress version.
I was going to comment the same thing.
I thought the last one was full of pure gold??
@@CreamFilledDonut that sounds familiar. I'll have to dig out my book and check haha

In Ukraine it’s also a Christmas classic. I used to watch it every year during the winter break as a child and I still keep this tradition ✨
I thought you meant cry in a negative way at first and I was about to get ready to physically fight you
and the woman that created the gowns won 3 Oscars for costume design. OMG

Yes! I NEED to find someone who could remake it for me!!
Though I can't remember what color she wears on Broadway . . .
The structure really ruined it. It tries to be different, but the flatness makes it look unappealing.
@keltzy i believe the broadway one is a white dress with gold accents? or that might just be in some more recent productions 🤷
I feel the same way. True magic comes from the heart. EVER AFTER has my vote everytime.
Absolutely. Plus Drew is a real gem in that movie.
AGREED!
Totally agree!!
The reason the dress in “Into the woods” is gold, is because it is based on the “original” fairytale and not the disney movie. In the original story, cinderellas dress and shoes are gold. And she doesn’t lose the shoe accidently, the prince puts tar on the steps to stop her from running 😊
Yeah, I appreciate the fact that it is closer to the original fairytale, if only it were pretty lol.
I think the gold dress is perfect, but it needs a caged crinoline
The original Cinderella was Greek
Gem Rivers
The oldest Cinderella-like story’s actually chinese or from a southeastern country

Disney animated one (silver white not blue!, that’s only in shadows Disney marketing) is my favorite. I didn’t like it that much as a kid since it’s not colorful and very simple. But now O like the simple timelessness.
I always liked how shiny and sparkly it looked thats what 5 year old me liked
Yea same here. I hated it as a kid but now I think it looks.. well... magical
I crushed hard on Cinderella as a kid, and that dress is the most enchanting in the film (although she does look better with the blue bow in her hair in my opinion)
completely agree
So that's why cartoonist draw tacky dress to gain kids attention. Simple dress doesnt atracting kids attention
Thats exactly how I feel,!
The cloak is beautiful
I'm surprised the significance of the bird on the back of the 'Tři oříšky pro Popelku' dress has gone over so many peoples head's. It's a phoenix, a bird that rebirths itself from ashes. who is Cinderella but a girl who rises from literal ashes? that's what her name represents. The Czech dress is genius.
YES

The animated dress does look a bit blue when they’re dancing. It’s not blue but it kinda has a blueish hue specially in the dark.
Yeah I always thought the dress was a very pale silvery-blue.
Mai2727 I honestly like it both ways. I think Disney should market their princesses with both looks. I like how they do that with Ariel... I think that’s why so many little girls love Ariel, she has diverse looks not to mention a tail 😉
How could they get Cinderella’s dress so right and Belle’s dress so wrong
It's because Emma Watson got to design it herself instead of letting professional costume designer design it.
Daneya Brito I’m still bitter they even casted her!
Daneya Brito honestly it still COULDVE looked good without a corset, it was just a bad design
@@uberkirbeeh7954 the reason she refused to wear a corset is bc she believes it promotes unrealistic standards of beauty. Not bc it's femenine.
I watch it every year around Christmas together with my father which is a really important tradition for me
yes so it is basically the only cinderella dress made based on Cinderella's wishes ( quite literaly). it is a dress her mother would have made for her. and an important part is the cloak that makes the effect as someone mentioned here
That movie is my childhood and I love everything about it
Ever After is honestly just perfect.

I thought it was obvious-
Well it might surprise you even more to learn that the color of her dress isn’t the only thing they changed about her colors during the marketing stage. I have no idea why they changed this since I think the original color looks better, but in the original Disney movie her hair isn’t yellow, it’s strawberry blonde.
Also her hair is strawberry blonde

or in Czech Cinderella is Popelka (popel = ashes, -ka = usual suffix for female names)
Yes, that's what I was thinking also.... I actually liked that one. I would not have put it as last.
@@eshbena I agree, it's a pretty dress but compared to the list it falls flat, literally lol.
I love the coat! I always wanted to have this coat as a kid and her hair. 😁

Yes! I remember wanting such a coat as a child and tbh still want one. It's so gorgeous!
Right?!! I am telling that all the time💓
"3 nuts for Cinderella" dress - if you are interested in period fashion and go further than just 18th/17th century, you can tell that this movie was supposed to be set some time around the late 14th/ early 15th century in bohemia. I also love how Cinderella and the prince dont fall in love with each other right away, and how they tease each other.
yes exactly! They actually filmed it in the region where it is set too. I think the beauty of this film was missed in this video.

I totally agree Disney’s cinderella 2015 had the best dress. It was so magical it actually looks like it came from a fairy god mother. The sewn swarovski crystals shows the attention to detail the dress creators had. Truly the best one ever worn by a cinderella character
yes my fav was from 2015
They are all lovely but Lily James was the perfect Cinderella. That dress and shoes are everything.
True
That blue ball gown I remember it so clearly, when I went to the cinema to watch the movie I was just in awe. It looked spectacular in my opinion, especially how it glimmers and also watching how it came to be. All in all, I loved it.
Edit: 2015 Version.
Someday, I’ll sew it
I think that they used the butterflies on the dress as a reference to a scene with her father at the beginning of the movie. Although I still don’t really like the butterflies on the dress because I think they look quite tacky and childish, I like the connection it has with her father. So I think the butterflies look good on the shoes but like you said the dress probably would of looked nicer with gems and diamonds.
Or even, not so many and smaller.... but i agree, they did it to connect the father. Loved them on the shoes.
The dress looks childish and cheap with it
Disney probably added them to make them able to fit children for the clothes they sell
I agree but I think the whole idea of the butterfly also connects to change so it would make sense that they’d show up when she almost comes out of her cocoon and has this big change.
I'm from Czech republic and I was *raised* on three nuts for Cinderella, no other adaptation of the fairy tale could ever be better in my eyes.
My favorite scene was definitely when she gets Maurice back. Iconic!
@@claradonivan5106 I also love the looks she gives Margaret right before she punches her! 🤜 like she knew she went too far when she said that...haha

Same here!! My fav, and my hubby and I quote it all the time :) His favorite part is at the buffet at the ball, "neigh," "wOaH..." lol!!
My personal favorite is the Ever After dress, but the animated dress is the standard which everyone tries to mimic - it’s a standard for a reason.
Wait so in that movie the prince didn’t end up marrying Cinderella?
Yeeesss I love ever after
Ever After is my favorite movie EVER!
I didn’t realise Ella Enchanted was supposed to be “Cinderella”...interesting
Claire I think the book is much better, the movie kinda ruined the story.
Yeah , when she started talking about the movie, I was like "What?" Cuz the book was really different.
@@sandyberger-r9j I liked the movie, but only because I watched it before I read it. They were very different in atmosphere.
The book is *phenomenal* and makes it clear that it is an updated retelling 😍 Highly recommend it!
Yes, it is and for me will always be the Christmas movie or the Cinderella movie...

I've just never seen butterflies incorporated into any design scheme that didn't come off as juvenile.
I think perhaps the butterflies were meant to symbolize Cinderella’s metamorphosis ✨
Kimono have many butterflies on them and they look amazing. The problem is not the butterflies but the design.
Yes!
The dress was originally white, but to be put into DVD and bluray the grain becomes so scrubbed that most of the line work is completely lost in the end. If you had a VCR version you would see the original appearance and it looked much more lovely and vibrant
@@miarose7315 I'm pretty sure the VHS copy is still at my mother's house and she has a VHS player I may check for myself the next time I visit her.
On my TV it shows up a tinted blue, but I could've sworn that on the DVD its shown white. I'll have to go look for the case.
Disney's is based on Perault's "The Glass Slipper" which predates Grimm by over a century. "Most accurate" my foot.
@@doctor-aesthetic and the glass was likely a mistranslation of a fur slipper. The French words are very similar to eachother.
Actually, about the 3 balls, was in the another Perault's book, which is "donkey skin".

Yesss I'm german and for years this was the only version I knew. Til this day it's still my favorite, I especially love the way she's both tough and loving and how her outfits represented her character 😍
Libuše Šafránková - best cinderella actress 😁

No one really thinks about it deeply since it's out Christmas movie they play every Christmas. the Lilly James gown hands down. Also all of Cate Blanchett's costuming throughout the entire film. The costume designer on that film should have won every award and some that weren't invented yet!
Agreed!
I should watch it this Christmas!

three nuts for cinderella is one of the most famous czech movies, its actually a czech-german coproduction, the actress playing cinderella is one of the most famous and prettiest actresses in czech republic. this movie has been on tv on christmas eve since forever so it carries a lot of nostalgia for basically all generations
Hi! I don’t know any czech movies besides the one mentioned in the video and i was wondering if you could recommend me some please ✨💕
@@rocio8396 I'm pretty sure there are a lot of fairy tale movies?
@@rocio8396 We've got a lot of fairytale movies, because it's been sort of a tradition to get a new one every (or every other) Christmas. The best ones are the older ones, however, so what I'd recommend is Pyšná princezna, Dvanáct měsíčků, Tři veteráni, Šíleně smutná princezna and Princ a večernice. (Not sure how hard it is to find subtitles in english for them...) I'm not much into Czech movies outside of fairytales, so can't recommend others, sadly.
@@rocio8396 Czech fairy tales/princess movies:
"Pyšná princezna" (proud princess) - black-and-white but a great movie
"Šíleně smutná princezna" (incredibly sad princess) - musical-ish, kind of sarcastic, very funny
"Jak se budí princezny" (how to wake up a princess) - sleeping beauty, I really like it
"Princezna se zlatou hvězdou na čele" (princess with a golden star on her forehead) - funny, the original rhymes
"Byl jednou jeden král"/"sůl nad zlato" (once upon a time there was a king/salt is more precious than gold)
- these are my personal favorites
Other movies:
"Marečku, podejte mi pero" (Mark, hand me a pen) - communism influenced, but a great funny movie
"Rebelové" (rebels) - musical, end of school themed, portrays the 1968 occupation
"Pelíšky" (lairs/beds) - partly Christmas movie, partly 1968 occupation related movie, notorious quotes
"Slunce, seno, jahody" (sun, hay, strawberries) - so dumb it's actually funny (Czech humor)
"Vrchní, prchni" (waiter, duck out) - really good movie
To me, ever after and Cinderella’s three nuts have the best costume design. I grew up watching those movies so I just fell in love with historical dresses
Popelka's wedding dress should count, it's absolutely gorgeous.
Lol in german its : Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenputtel 😐
Lila Magnolienvilla woah, I didn’t know that. I watched the movie when I was little, I didn’t really know the movie’s name
Ever After... when Danielle stops and they pan to a full shot of her outfit makes me cry every time. It’s my favorite Cinderella dress ever
YES omg!! That scene 😍 makes me catch my breath
That's my favorite Cinderella movie ever. It's actually 1 of my favorite movies.
I love Ever After so much and don’t care a bit about all the historical inaccuracies! It’s a wonderful version and so unique!!!
I am gonna be very honest, the book Ella Enchanted is much better and more interesting than the film. I listened to the audiobook on RUclips and I think it is more entertaining and interesting then the film.
That was my favorite book as a kid, and when I eventually watched the film I hated it. It was nothing like the book.
I read the book and found it boring, I like the Ella Enchanted movie more than the book.
I think the movie is super cute and I love Ella and Char together, but the book is one of my favorite books of all time! It's so sweet and romantic and I just love it. I like how they were younger and I like the multiple days they go to the ball. I'd like to see a more accurate to book movie.
Maybe but hugh dancy is hoooot
Thank you for bringing that up. I read the book when I was a kid and loved it. The movie is completely different from the book. The book was actually set back in time (not modern times) and was a serious fantasy story-not a silly campy story. Even though I was taken aback when I saw the movie, I learned to like it. But I still would love to see a faithful TV show or movie adaptation of the book.
Y'all sleeping on Brandy's Cinderella look- she was STUNNING💕💗
I’m saying!!!!
Eh
IKR
Hers was the best
@@TheBerkeleyBeauty At all. The 2015 Disney’s dress is beautiful and timeless.
To me she looked like an Angel omg🥰🥰 they nailed it.
It's my fave tooo , I would pick it anytime
Ever After is by far my favorite version of Cinderella. Her dress was my favorite hands down.
LOVED Ever after!!! One of my Favorite movies! I also liked how they changed up the sisters a bit.
@lilly lazer
Me too!! i Loved that little difference.....torn between her loyalty towards her mother and sister, BUT.....also being on the receiving end of her mothers sharp tongue, (wasn't Angelica Houston..PERFECT in that roll!?), she was better able to somewhat understand Danielle...
GREAT Cast! Rolled laughing when: "Madam, you may have anything you can carry".....so she picks up the Prince, turns & gives a little curtsy...and walks off! ROFLLL
I'm European and I absolutely love the 3 nuts for Cinderella to be honest it's my personal favorite so I'm happy to see someone finally appreciating the film
not gonna lie, I'm here just for the Czech Cinderella
Nápodobně 😁♥️
twl čech 😂
Taky xc
Because she's the best.fairytale.princess.evver. in the best fairytale film ever. And there are many more reasons than just nostalgia for this.
Also, her dress deserves a higher ranking.
it's a Czechoslovak-German production, have respect for all the countries involved.
I was surprised not to see Leslie Ann Warren's Cinderella dress (1965) on the list. As a child, seeing that version of Cinderella, I wanted that dress.
Best version of Cinderella! I wanted her dress too, still do
This was the first live-action Cinderella that I saw. I was fifteen, oldest of 6 girls and my mom lets us stay up after 9 to see it. To this day, it is my favorite rendition, with Drew Barrymore a close second.
Absolutely agree! I couldn't believe that amazingly elegant version of Cinderella didn't even make the list.
Very surprised by this omission. Her dress and the movie captured the Cinderella feel the best.
I watched this to see if Lesley Ann Warrens Cinderella ball gown was ranked #1, only to find out it wasn’t even included! WTF
