Interesting choice of books! Most of them are on my wishlist - especially History Is All You Left Me, Human Acts, The Hate U Give, Pachinko, The Sellout and Strange the Dreamer. I hope they're as good as I want them to be.

I read The Vegetarian last year but Human Acts is way more moving. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and whether your Korean family background gives you more insight that I might have missed when I read.

A massive book haul is exactly what I needed to watch right now ^_^ why are they so relaxing?! I still haven't read Human Acts but I loved the Vegetarian, and I feel like I might like Human Acts even more. In a way that might be why I've not picked it up yet aha.

Welcome back A!! Time *sigh* It feels like there's never enough hours in the day. Oh and I agree about your "politics and religion vs real life" side rant about people using that excuse to not discuss things going in the world. As long it doesn't directly affect them, they don't feel the need to care or discuss it. It's easier to just use the "politics" excuse to brush it away than to actually join the conversation and have empathy for the people really going through it. So glad you're back!! *high five* 🤓🤗

Omg I finished The Hate U Give recently and it's so goood...it made me cry
if you like the Borgia I really recommend Lucrèce Borgia by Victor Hugo (it's a drama play). it's amazing and one of my favorite classics (it's also a very short read)

House of Leaves is meant to be terrifying. Into The Water is great. I liked it even more than The Girl on The Train, which I was a big fan off. I am also desperate to read Pachinko. Heyyyy Ames! 🤗 I enjoyed two books from your haul: City of Saints and Thieves and The Sellout. The latter will have you laughing throughout your read. For some reason, I can see Donald Glover playing the main character should it ever be adapted to film. I thought City was really good, too. I think you'll enjoy getting to know "Tiny Girl." 😊
I'm currently reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I definitely do not plan to buy another book until I finish this tripartite novel. Still on Volume 1, but definitely a page-turner.

A book on my TBR is "Vassa in the night" by Sarah Porter. Its a retelling of a russian folktale and Ive heard that is both wierd and dark. Worth cheking out!

That's a huge book haul. I just posted one on my blog and was toying with the idea to go on a ban but then I got some Barnes & Noble coupons sooo....I'll have to delay that again. As for what I'm reading -- "Things We Lost In the Fire," a book of short stories by Argentine writer Mariana Enriquez. It's a really good book so far filled with gripping though unsettling stories.

Don't read House of Leaves alone! Such a unique book, but it also scared me! Have you heard about the section with a secret message? I can't wait to hear your thoughts about this one.
I just finished Pachinko and haven't stopped thinking about it. It's definitely a favorite for 2017 and will probably end up as an all-time favorite. I've read some reviewers had an issue with pacing, and I do see that. However,I ended up caring for these characters SO MUCH. Identity/racism/immigration issues, believable characters, multi-generational family saga... loved it all. Have you heard about the true story that inspired Min Jin Lee to write her book? Anyways.. lots of feelings towards this novel. Can't wait to see more of your videos!

+Kelli Marissa thanks Kelli! Part of the reason it takes me a minute to get to books on my shelves is because about half of my reading consists of library eloans that I read on my ipad via my kindle app. 😊 I read approx 50-60 books a year, but there are still sooo many to get to!
That's awesome! I wish I could read that much, haha! I probably read one or two books a month :/ I usually just read them on my phone but its definitely not as satisfying as holding a physical book in my hand. (Although I have to say its pretty convenient because I can just read while I'm waiting in line at the store, etc!)
