Haha, I was just thinking the same thing and I am a married man. Young men, take notice! Find a woman who shares your interests (pretending to share interests doesn’t count!)
I love your channel. I am a book lover too. Found this channel from your breakfast club interview. I was blown away by your thoughtful commentary on the music industry, women's empowerment and your love of books and your interest in book publishing. A standing ovation for your clearly expressed insights and refreshingly intelligent conversation. New subbie!
Eating For Beauty sounds right down my alley ♡. Thanks for the recommendations :-)! Because I am an equal parts romance & autobiography enthusiast, my non-boring non-fiction faves are To Selena, With Love by Chris Perez, No Woman No Cry by Rita Marley, & Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness by Ronnie Spector. Those 3 books kept me up at night - I couldn't put them down for a second. How do you feel about romantic memoirs/autobiographies? Any favorites?
+Books Beauty Ameriie I also read almost exclusively non-fiction and love some of the books on your list, Outliers in particular. A couple of great ones I've read and reviewed recently were Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and The Tiger by John Vaillant.
Not taking things personally is definitely something I struggle with but I'm working on it! Also Outliers is next on my reading list!! I'm almost done rereading The Tipping Point 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Amerie! I have only discovered your channel a few weeks back, but I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos! I find that you bring such unique and special content to the booktube community, which is very inspiring to me! Literally every video of yours is a pleasure to watch. Thank you for that! Greetings from Germany :)
Love this video so much! Love your videos period. Can you please make a part 2 and give more non fiction recommendations? And also recommendations on translated works and foreign literature? Love your energy. You inspire me a lot!
The "Don't take anything personally part"...The way you explained it was great! It's something I am honestly still working on. I have those days where people, y'know standing behind the counter in a store, people at school or just anywhere, have a bad attitude towards me and I am real quick to take it personal and sort of 'fight back' by returning their negative energy (So by giving them or showing them the same attitude they are giving me right away). I'm like "Oh, you gon' talk like that to ME?!" Lol! But I have in fact been wondering if me returning that energy is actually really necessary. This is something I also really admire about you. I know it can be hard to focus only on positive energy, especially on social media and especially when you're an artist. But you just have like some sort of anti bad energy shield which is something I am still working on, but I'm sure that in time I'll have my own. It's all part of growing up. ;) ^•^ ^~^
I have always admired this young lady. Now I'm going to have to see if she is still doing book reviews. This video was perfectly performed and I love the way she got so much through in 13 minutes.
I am so glad I came across this video today! Three of your recommendations seem to be just what I need! Earlier today I went to the bookstore and got the four agreements, a new earth, and the seven spiritual laws. I'm so excited!! Thank you (-:
So I'm spontaneously watching book reviews (like I do all the time) and this video comes on. I'm watching and thinking to myself she's really pretty. Glanced at your username and thought thats a nice name but why do I feel like I already knew it. Immediately it clicked and I ran to Google and verified that RUclips link! IT'S YOU! How perfect is this?! Books and Amerie!!! I was listening to your music on Thanksgiving!
Girl thank you!! I love nonfiction books...but...let's be honest there are a lot of boring ones :P On that note I have to recommend "No One's Business: A Migrant's Barefoot Journey to Millions" by Vadim Turcanu. It's so raw and eye-opening about an immigrant working his way up out of poverty. And definitely not boring...if anything you want the guy to catch a break ha! I loved it because it deals with serious situations/issues but the author somehow still has such an inspiring voice!
Stephen Kings 'On Writing' is a good read for a person who wants to improve their fiction or non-fiction writing. loved his anecdotal approach. The story of how he wrote in his basement. Priceless. Nice review Amerie.
My Amazon wishlist is growing thanks to you! :)) can't wait to read some of these, I've really been slacking on reading the past few years and you inspire me to start making it a priority again. On Goodreads I have a goal to read 10 books this year, I already started The Four Agreements and plan to make it my first finished book!
For a minute I almost thought gnomes were real until you mentioned interviewing a mermaid X_X I'm definitely reading Outliers this month, seeing that everyone keeps recommending it
Hi Ameriie! Just to say you are the best artist to me & even better watching theses videos has been the best for me really enjoying them. It is my birthday tomorrow so your music is on the playlist. Loved the video.
I have just starting getting into some more non-fiction books and I love all your recommendations!! I have just ordered just about all of them and can't wait to start reading them. Thank you!
Heey Ameriie! I just discovered your channel today [actually], and I just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to get back into reading! Thank you so much for posting this video, I will definitely check some of these books out! Keep doing you beautiful! Love you and your channel!
Wow, how did I miss this video!? That Michio Kaku book, "Hyperspace" looks divine. I've been on this quest lately, digesting everything I possibly can with regard to space and why and where the universe exists. It's a question I find fascinating, as we're so far from knowing the truth. But it's fun to sit and think and theorize. I totally agree with your theory in that the answer lies somewhere between fully understanding spirituality and science and how they intersect. …& that Eckhart Tolle book, "A New Earth"… whew! There was a quote that always stayed with me: "If the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in. When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up." It's become a sort of mantra of mine- it is relevant to so many areas of life. I think I may need to revisit this book!! ^_^ Can I also just say that it's so refreshing hearing you discuss your take on religion with such transparency… I agree with what you said, that essentially, at their core, each religion is similar in that each talks about love being the truth, us being one, being egoless, etc. Thank you for this. It's a conversation I've been unsuccessfully having (for years) with my Christian mother. Speaking of which, could you offer any advice re: coming to a mutual understanding with parents/family whose spiritual belief differs from your own? (P.S. - Outliers was such a dope book!)
I just discovered your channel and Im so impressed. Love your book recommendations and your videos are a mix of beauty and brains content. Glad to be a new subscriber :)
Love all the Dr. Kaku books. I am halfway in love with the guy, I swear hahha. I am definitely gonna check these out! I'm not one for nonfiction, but these recs sound great. 👌🏾
I'm interested in ALL OF THE BOOKS! I wish I could afford them bc I don't like reading in the bookstore, I like reading in my living room. Especially the ones by Michio Kaku, I love reading about the metaphysical. Thanks for this😌
Awesome video. So enjoying your channel. I have read a couple of these books but most of these are new to me. Added some to my goodreads for future reading :)
Just wanna say thanks for the recommendations! I've always hoped you would put up a list like this since I'm not much of a fiction reader. I've read The Four Agreements and Gladwell's Tipping Point. Both were awesome reads. I've had A New Earth on my tbr list. I would recommend Oprah's book called What I Know For Sure.
You mentioned Noah Oppenheim and I immediately thought of this incredible book, also non-fiction and definitely non-boring: "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer". He was known as "the father of the atom bomb" and he just had a really fascinating mind and life. You seem to love science and physics and reading about people who were rogue characters in their world/ generation. You may have read it but if not I highly recommend it. My sister who is the biggest nerd I know was like "omg what a nerd are you really reading about JR Oppenheimer?" but I swear I couldn't put it down.
My pleasure! I'm a new subscriber and you've inspired me to start a book/language club. I'm living in Valencia, Spain at the moment and people here are really keen on improving their English. I think it could be a great way to meet people with shared interests and an opportunity for language exchange so thank you 😁
I love these recs I just bought some! Can you do another non fiction book rec video? Or book shelf tour? I need more to read! Can't get enough of your amazing videos:)
I love A New Earth! I am now almost done with The Power of Now...if your mom is Christian she might like books by Neville Goddard. He quotes scripture all the time in his books, although I am not Christian, I love his books. All about the power of the mind and how scripture supports this science. Love David Wolfe, you should check out his book on Superfoods as well. I have The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success of CD as a part of yoga teacher training, but I need it in physical book form (something about having a book to earmark and highlight!). Anyhow - great recommendations, there are a few I will be purchasing from this list as well!
Soo I'm already reading many lives many masters right now. I decided to look up book reviews. We in watching this video I found the book hyperspace very interesting. It's so crazy you mentioned many lives many masters also! I think stumbling on this Video was fate. I subscribed to your channel:) I'm excited to see your other videos!!
I want to read the Stephen King book about Carrie, but I keep hearing a little voice saying "there all going to laugh at you! There all going to laugh at you!"

i never knew ppl thought non-fiction was boring lol that's the only stuff i read; ))))
I find the confidence in the way you talk inspiring :)

GREAT NON-FICTION THAT HAS ENRICHED MY LIFE AND MIGHT ENRICH YOURS, TOO. ^_~

I only got 1/4 of the way through Hyperspace, but it completely changed the way I thought about the universe. Great video!
