What if you’ve already a long-term finasteride user? What if you’ve taken the standard 1mg daily dose for a year or more?
At that point you’ve got all the new hair finasteride will ever give you, and you’re basically on maintenance treatment.
So what happens then? Can you lower the dose and still keep all your new hair?
Well, believe it or not we didn’t have a study on this, up until this past December. And the study came to us out of South Korea.

Since my prescription, I've ignored the recommendation: been taking 1mg, once a week for exactly a year. Think I made the right choice
So it worked?
@@AmarSingh-uc7px I use to microneedle, scalp massage, apply various oils. None of those methods worked, if anything my hair quality only got worse on top of the hairline. The medical route was definitely the right choice, I do nothing but take one tiny pill a week and forget about it. Not a single side effect, beard and sexual performance was not impacted at all. If I can give some advice... just do it. You can make an online appointment with a doctor from countless websites and get prescribed finasteride, which in total cost me less than $100 for the year.
@@AmarSingh-uc7px No, he's bald now.
@@ytsux9259 It worked, you're the one that is bald because you didn't want to take finasteride.
@Techno buffalo you can take 0.25 mg 2 times a week it's really effective but i suggest you be 20 years old then start finasteride for some reason
I take finasteride every fourth day and microneedling every one or two weeks. It first caused intense shedding which i learned is part of the process. Now my hair loss has been reduced to almost zero. The baby hairs started showing up within the first month of its use but they're still not big enough to make a difference. At least i am happy that further hair loss stopped. Also, some of the baby hairs grew much bigger so i think i have to continue with it and might see good results if i remain patient and consistent.
@7Lu7Lu 1 mg every 3rd or fourth day. Yes i still take it. My overall hair count still remains low but the baby hairs are there some of them grew big. I have to keep going with it.
How much do you take?
@@ArslanFutbol1update??
@@hhour2096 had to include minoxidil. I was only able to slow down my hair loss.
I started taking .25 once every 3 days. I'm hoping I see similar results.
I take 1 pill every other day with tremendous results. I am changing my dosage to one pill per week. I will take one pill every Sunday.
Did you start off from day 1 doing every other day? Or was that after taking 1mg every day for 1year 1st? thanks (In was about to start from day 1 with every other day)
@@grantmail4112 I took 1 per day for 2 years plus. Now for past 6 months I take 1 every other day.
how is this not more known if its true?
Dont you guys think you misinterpreted the text? Woudnt every other month mean that i should take 1mg every day for 30 days and then pause for 30 days?
U smart
It would (/should) say ‘1mg DAILY every other month’
Hopefully they didn’t butcher their English that badly…
Although it is a Korean paper and I guess it could happen
after taking 1year of fin. you can try once every 3 months to what i understand.
It means "1 month every day", then 1 month break. 1 dose in 60 days is rediculous.
Yeah total BS
@@hobo1704 this only talks about how strong is this drug!
@@hernandariobernalparra7772 🤣
I consumed 1 mg per day for one month and it nearly killed me. way too many side effects. A year and a half later here I am at 1 mg per week. Awesome results. I think I found the sweet spot.
That's interesting, thanks for sharing.
@@Hairguardhow long after starting use did the shedding start?
1) The study was a VERY small sample size
2) More details of the study need to be known,
3) And, a much larger, more detailed study like this needs to be done so that we have a larger sample size.
Until all 3 are met, I am highly suspicious.
Everyone should know that Asian men react completely different to Finasteride. They are much more sensitive to it and their T/DHT levels are also very different as opposed to other men.
Explain?
@@tomshaji I cant explain you in full details but Asian men have lower T/DHT levels than the traditional Caucasian man. Therefor, they need a lot less Finasteride in order to have a positive effect on the hair follicles. Their diets, environment and lifestyle is also so much better than the rest of the world.
@@bbqdsushi2585
Asia is a huge continent though. Does this include South Asian men or just East Asian men?
The biggest misconception that many doctors seem to make with Finasteride, is that because of the relatively short half life of the drug, they say you need to take it every day, or atleast multiple times a week at minimum. While this might be the only option for people with agressive androgenic alopecia, the reality is that this drug remains active in the TISSUE LEVEL for a very very long time, even after leaving your blood stream. By using a common sense, this might very well explain why there are a lot of people who seem to suffer from side effects, even after quitting the medication. Finasteride builds up into your system very easily. This is why a lot of people have started taking a very low dose ranging between 1mg - 0,50mg. Due to the long lasting effect on tissue level, it's not necessarily needed to take a dose every single day, but maybe every other day, 3 times a week, or even once a week instead, depending on the mg/dosage and severity of the hairloss. While DHT is the main cause of hairloss, it is still an undeniable fact that as men, we need that hormone to a certein degree. Aggressively blocking the formation of DHT with a drug that at the same time keeps building up in our system can lead into serious problems. I think the information shared in this video speaks for itself. If taking 1mg dose EVERY OTHER MONTH, can possibly bring you the benefit of maintaining your hair or even bringing mild improvements, that most certainly has a lot to do with the fact that Finasteride really stays in your system for a long time.
How often do u take it?
What does dht blocking lead to?
@@bioschlock To put it simply: Finasteride blocks the enzyme called 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible of converting testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is the main/ biggest cause of androgenic alopecia/ male pattern hairloss. By preventing the formation of DHT, we are able to stop the hairloss and in the long run even improve the hair quality = Density and thickness. I hope this helps you.
@@rollingstart_90s How often do you take it?
Hold on hold on. This study doesn’t necessarily suggest that finasteride stays in your system at the tissue level for a long period of time. A medication can be effective even if it’s not constantly in your body. It would be interesting to see this same research design but look at hormone profiles/scalp DHT levels over a year rather than hair growth/loss. That study would be more suggestive of what you typed. This study only suggests that for whatever reason, 1mg every other month is sufficient to prevent further hair loss progression in most cases.
I take a pill once a week and i'm doing fine
Img or 1.25mg I’m guessing?
@@HealthyWealthy808 1 mg
Any update on this study? Has anyone experienced with this before?
0.25 mg/week
I wanna start with that dosage too...any result...im 40 y old and mild baldness on crown...thank for eventually answer
Any update with that dosage?
that's never going to work my friend, you're going way too low
I watched a video like a year or two ago saying I don’t need it every day, my hair loss has completely stopped I might take it once a week
have you been using it less than everyday, or 1mg every day?
Should I take 0.5mg dutastride every alternate day?
NO !!
Can anyone give me link of that study??
Important Question: Why exactly do you recommend your Biogaine product only be used ONCE a day??? I don't see the half life on any of the key ingredients lasting that long. It's surprising because even Minoxidil is recommended twice-daily and has a longer half life. Seriously does not make sense.
Please address this.
Rock with .5mg every other day and see what happens, stop watching these long drawn out videos that go nowhere and stay the F off the internet for medical advice.
Thanks for this… 0.5mg EOD is what I’m going to do. I have been going down way too many Fin rabbit holes since getting my prescription of 1 mg/day on Wednesday. Doc also prescribed 1.25 Min/day… Any thoughts?
I’m dreading the shed, but “no pain, no gain…”
I responded well and bumped mine to .5 daily. You can also do 1MG Mon wed Friday. Stop being afraid, internet is a cesspool of misinformation. Balding sucks and you're not Jason Statham.
@@dragoninvegasany update?
@@Tommy-Eagle-USAupdate?
I stopped being scared and now take 1MG of fin daily with twice daily Min topical. Zero sides, some shedding with the Fin and sticking to the program. I've seen substantial hair thickening with the Min which I've been using for 7 months.
I'm going from 1mg every other day to 1mg per week due to my current dosage giving me bad gynaecomastia.
Thanks for sharing.
So 1g eod did nt give. You gyno but 1mg a week did give you? How
@@SOMEREALFACTS190 No. 1mg EOD gave me gyno. Dropping to 1mg a week and a course of Raloxifene reduced my gyno dramatically.
I'd rather be bald than have gyno.
Quick question why is norwood 1 called the control stage? I'm curious.
A year later you will get your answer 😅 Because Norwood 1 is zero boldnes. It is starting point for Norwood scheme.
23 man!!!! Devided in 2 groups!!!! 11%...23%....😂😂😂😂😂
Plz make video about neo hair lotion and prp..that lotion . fuking..good

It's actually 0.5 mg not 0.05

@meow purr if you mean by no effect, maintenance then is work.
Can anyone explains me in a nutshell
Puedes hacerlo con dosis más bajos con finasteride generico estoy tomando ya el medicamento por ya casi el año y es de 5 MG que me recomiendas para el tratamiento.
¿Tomas 5 mg al día?
I too take 5mg a day and it has been about 1 month 13 days
