I started taking Finasteride 3 times a week after watching one of The Hair Loss Show videos 3 years ago. My hair has almost all come back. It’s not as thick as it was when I was a young man, but the difference has been fantastic.
So taking 3x a week for 3 years now what have been the side effects? Was there different side effects the first couple of months vs. after a couple years? Thanks!
Hey, you can opt for PRP.. since it's helpful for thickening hair. As the platelets in injected plasma repairs the injuries caused by needles, it increases the blood flow in the scalp. I have seen the change in 6 sessions.

. Taking it every 4 days: • With a 0.125g dose taken every 4 days, you have 7 doses in a 30-day period (since 30 days / 4 days = 7.5 doses, rounded down to 7 doses). • Total accumulated dose = 0.125g * 7 doses = 0.875g Since each dose lasts for 30 days, and you're taking a dose every 4 days, the cumulative effect for each month remains constant at 0.875g. Therefore, over the entire year, the cumulative effect will never exceed 0.875g, as the doses from the previous months stop contributing after 30 days.
Are you talking about mg? You need about a 1mg per day. That’s because finasteride has a 6hour half life so there’s enough left after 24h that type 2 is still completely blocked and then you take another 1mg etc. Shortly after a day 1mg looses effectiveness and 5AR type 2 get’s rebuild, it takes 5AR few weeks to be completely rebuilt cos of its long half life, but the point is shortly after a day of 1mg dose 5AR starts to rebuild and bumping up DHT more and more
@@Bakanelli You dont need 1mg a day. The halflife in the blood isn't the only factor, it accumulates in issues. These guys for example generally only suggest 1mg thrice weekly.

Because of these videos, I've been taking 0.5mg (half a pill of 1mg finasteride) 6 days a week for about six years. I started around my 27th birthday, and I just turned 33. At 1mg (first year or so of taking it), I felt some side effects (chest tightness, lower libido), but at the same time, I was also dealing with intense stress from being self-conscious about my hair loss and paranoid about side effects. After finding online that the efficacy is roughly the same at a half dosage with fewer side effects, I lowered the dosage. Since then, I have had no noticeable side effects, and my hair is the same with no noticeable hair loss from age 27 (I take photos once a month to track it). I should note, however, that while the rest of the men on both sides of my family are bald/balding, my 70-year-old father has nearly as much hair as I do. His father (my grandfather) was bald in his 30s, but his father's father (my great-grandfather) had a full head of hair until the day he died! Go figure. If there was a better test to figure out whether or not I was actually losing my hair or if this was my natural "mature" hair pattern like my father's, I'd pay for it. It's a little tricky for me to determine whether some depression I occasionally feel is due to the drug, my family history, or both. Many male and female members of my family deal with mild depression. In general, I have not noticed any issues with my sex drive or sex life, and if anything, as I got older, it improved alongside my overall confidence, as one would expect. That said, as I got older, I also became more comfortable with the likely chance that I'd be mostly bald one day. As you can see with both of these guys in the video, being bald does not mean you are not attractive. Some of the most powerful men in the world are bald. Some of the most attractive (as ranked by women) are as well. This is something I came to terms with myself, and it really helped me relax about the inevitable loss of my hair when I stopped taking the drug. Confidence, personality, overall health, and fitness -- and frankly, whether or not you had a good-looking face in the first place -- really are more likely to determine your "attractiveness" than your hair ever will. Some people also look better bald, especially in their 40s onward: The Rock, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, Ed Harris (even looks badass with the donut hair), John Travolta, etc etc.
61 years old. Been taking finasteride for over 20 years. First 1mg a day then recently 3mg a week. Have all my hair no side effects PSA. Good. All good.
1mg everyday gave me side effects after 8 months. Eventually switched to 1mg MWF and was on that for about a year. Side effects didnt really improve. Recently just switched to 0.5mgs MWF, after 2 weeks side effects got much better. But the effect on the hair is slightly less. My experience in case anyone is interested.
What do you mean by "MWF"? If you choose to use an abbreviation, perhaps explaining what it stands for is a good idea, rather than assume everyone will know of it and understand it 🙂. And, what were the said side effects?

My doctor prescribed topical finasteride 1% 3 times a week and told me to wash it after 3 hours to reduce the systemic. After 4 months I see big improvement
Hi, are you located in Australia? If so, how did you get your topic finasteride? I'm kinda new in the country and I'm struggling getting mine. Thanks 🙏
You should do one for dutasteride given its usually prescribed at 0.5mg and has a very, very long half-life. I'm not convinced the sides are worse than finasteride given how low you can dose it and still get vastly superior retention and yes, even regrowth, results.
I took 1mg Finasteride everyday for 5 years and it was an absolute game changer for me. Saved my hair. But i did notice after 4 years that my hair was thinning again but only very slightly. So after research, i made the switch to Fins big brother Dutasteride. I've now been taking Dutasteride 0.5mg daily for 3 and a half years and so far so good.
I've had a ton of regrowth from dutasteride after just 6 months but I'm also using it with a compounded 1mg minoxidil dose so not sure which portion is due to the dut and which to the minox but it's been astoundingly good, also no side effects from either so far. It's also only about $1 per day through Musely. I was taking 1mg/daily finasteride prior.@@AIKTV
I was getting side effects on 0.5 mg every other day. I switched to 0.25 4 times a week. And it’s really seemed to benefit me. I have been measuring my oestrogen levels and testosterone monthly as well so I can see what’s happening. According to studies you only need a very small amount to have a big effect. That’s why 0.25 4 times a week seems to be working. And I haven’t got any nasty side effect like the last 2 times I was on it.
Wow...that's 1 mg a week! I assume you cut the 1 mg tablet into 4 pieces? How difficult is that? Curious - what was your side-effects on the 0.5 mg every other day dose? I experienced lack of libido, brain fog, moodiness & sore Achilles tendons with just 1 mg 3xweek! 😬 Now I'm in a mess trying to figure out what to do - either scale down to 1 mg a week or try that microdose of *0.07 mg* from the Drake study that I posted on my initial comment. I wish the hair loss experts, who I enjoy watching their videos, would discuss & analyze the Drake study. Is it even medically possible that a 0.07 mg dose can suppress scalp skin DHT by 61%?
@@nomad6086 It's not a hormonal disturbance, but a sign of central nervous system damage, similar to some effects from Covid. Most doctors don't know what they're talking about. That's why it takes so long to recover. But you can recover from the nastier side-effects, and even eventually get back onto a small dose of Finasteride. I've done it, but there were some difficult years and I took many supplements and made many changes to lifestyle.
@@Louis.R I don't follow you - are you saying finasteride causes central nervous system damage? Do you have any studies or research that you can refer me to? I think the question here is whether or not adult males need any DHT to be healthy? Kevin Mann of the "Hair Cafe" has a series of videos on DHT being a "trash hormone" concluding that DHT does nothing but cause problems with adult men (BPH, androgenic alopecia, skin disorders, etc). He's done extensive research in this area & references a lot of studies to support his position. And the *NIH* has said DHT appears not to have any benefit in adulthood! However, if I understand the hair loss doctors correctly, they say it's not a good idea to suppress DHT to 0 - and that some DHT is still needed in the system? Who's right? Why do they recommend only 1 mg 3×week instead of the FDA official 1 mg everyday? Why isn't there discussion & debate among the medical professionals as to value or not of DHT? The Hair Cafe says the most of side-effects are psychosomatic & in people's head. Maybe my side-effects are actually all in my head? I've never seen anything more confusing on the issue of DHT & how the medical professionals can't agree whether or not DHT is a trash hormone & not needed at all in adulthood. What a sad state of affairs - no wonder so many guys are self-experimenting with dosages all over the place. Lol
@@Louis.R I responded to your comment yesterday but these guys here deleted it, probably because I asked hard questions & they're reluctant to answer. And why don't these doctors here talk about CNS damage from finasteride? Are they hiding this information? Also, what was the low dosage of finasteride that you utilized?
Very pertinent video chaps! I feel that many people write off finasteride too soon by overdoing their dose and experiencing side effects. Titration is a proven way to soften the lowering of serum DHT and to minimise side effects. Look forward to the next video.

Hi, can you please explain the same micro dosing with Dutasteride. For instance, taking 0.5 mg every two days, instead of daily, and how and if its effectiveness changes? Also, how taking it every two days could influence potential side effects? Thank you
This is a good template range most people, but even 1-3mg weekly can achieve cessation of hairloss for many. Titration is fundamental to avoiding side effects. 1mg daily is overkill.
Hey docs, was wondering about the two 10 year studies on finasteride. It seems, if I'm understanding it correctly, that they saw MORE growth/regrowth in the 5-10 year period. I thought fin would gradually stop working or that you would see the "final" results in the first couple of years, but the studies seem to say otherwise.
@fabioloyola4788 1mg would be the recommended dose for all ages. Give it a full year before you determine the overall effectiveness of the drug. If hairloss doesn't stabilize within that time, I would recommend talking to your doctor about switching to 0.5 mg dutasteride.
I take 1MG 4 times a week.. M/W/F and Sunday at 12AM and have been doing this for going on 3 years now. I still see hairs falling out, but it seems to have maybe slowed down just a bit. I'm 61 and still have a really good head of hair. Just some thinning on the crown. I have no side effects at all. In fact, I'm actually more "frisky" than I was before. What's up with that???? Not really sure that it's really helping me at all.
Question to the public: i have been taking 1 mg every day for about 3 - 4 years now. I for sure notice decreases in libido and some ED. My hair has not gotten any worse in that time , and possibly has gotten better. But i personally feel it can cause a bit of depression considering you have little drive to seek out a partner then if you do you have the paranoia of not everything working when the time comes. Has anyone else experienced the same feelings? I dont necessarily want to stop taking it because im single and would like to keep my hair but the double edge sword to this is really a problem. Wondering if i should take a few months off and or change my dosing/schedule.
I had this initially and gave up on it. I later went back and used it every other day with no impact to labido. I'm not saying it will be the same but just wanted to share my experience.
When I took fin 1mg/daily for years I noticed no change to libido or function but in the 6 months since I switched to 0.5mg dutasteride daily libido is even higher than it already was and still no function issues. I think it's likely due to what I perceive to be a significant test level boost.
@@thomasd1076 initially I took it only a short time, maybe a few months. It was then over a year before I took it again at a reduced amount. It was only after finding this channel I was convinced to give it another go.
I swear to God, we have been using it daily for 3 months or more, 1 milligram every day, and it has no effects, and my desire has not changed at all, but the result I have not focused on yet, I will focus on it after 3 months.
I was cautious and started with 0.25mg and planned to double it after a month without side effects and then double it to the regular dose after another month. However, after 3 weeks I experienced low libido, weak erections and bad orgasms. So I continued with 0.25, but just 3-4x per week. Libido got better (still noticiably lower) and erections/orgasms improved again. I stayed on this dose and had regrowth of about 1cm. From NW 2 to 1, also aided by minox, occasional derma rolling and ketokonazole 2% shampoo. This winter I took 0.25mg daily for about 1-2 weeks and again got quite the sides with some erectile dysfunction. Lowered to 3 times/wk and everything works again. Libido is still quite a bit lower than in the beginning, but that's ok bc it used to be quite high and there are possibilities to increase that while staying on Fin. I'm just unsure whether I might have brain fog. But I had mild to middle depressive symptoms in the past (often during winter), so that might not be the medication. I might try out topical fin as soon as I find a good protocol
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like your body is responding to the inevitable truth that 5 alpha reductase inhibitors do not mix well with your genetic profile. The longer that you’re on it at any (effective) dose, it is very possible that you are treading into the deeper possibility of the sides not going away. Especially if you can’t figure out whether or not you’ve had brain fog, or how longs it’s lasted, or therefore how slow and gradual yet comprehensive the process can be, it happened to me after about 20 months and I didn’t even realize it cus it was so gradual and so displaced from when I started treatment, and I continued taking it for another year before I learned what PFS was and realized the drug had been causing all these issues that never made sense before. But it was too late, and 3 years later I still have the same genital numbness and anhedonia that I did while on the drug.
I want to take finasteride but I am terrified to the extreme of gynecomastia recurrence. I had surgery years ago and my surgeon told me that it’s unlikely it would return if I take finasteride but not 100% risk free. There is no way I’d want to go through surgery again knowing that I will never have the same results as close to natural looking because plastic surgery is not an exact science and it would be surgery on top of existing scar tissue/trauma/fibrosis, and because of how traumatic my recovery was. It’s such a double curse that the medications that work for hair loss also cause gynecomastia :( you get your hair but then get a woman’s chest. Sigh.
docs, regarding side effects and custom dosing... you say finasteride lasts in the scalp skin for 30 days, leaves the body in 30hrs, and dht levels return to normal in under 2 weeks. Is it a possible idea to take finasteride in bursts of 1mg per day for seven to ten days or so at beginning of every month? So that the drug briefly builds up in the system then leaves the system only creating side effects briefly but stays in my scalp for until I start again in 20 or so days, which is ten days less than it takes to leave the scalp. So that I have finasteride in my scalp all the time and so that I only have side effects roughly half (or hopefuly a third) of the time. My hair growth responds extremely well to finasteride but the drug is quite bad to my sexual function.
They have an older video explaining that .5mg 3 times a week is a great place to start. Its a low enough dose to not cause half the side effects and also the interval is mopping up the “excessive” dht levels. I think the theory is not to decimate your dht levels constantly but rather to trim it down. Hope this helps

I started finasteride and had side effects. I want to lower the dose but now after some internet research I have come to view DHT as important for me to have in my body. I tried 0.5mg fin daily for a long duration twice. Both times I had to drop the drug eventually. In the beginning I was fine but after about three months my libido plummeted. Both times it took about three months after stopping the dose for it to return properly. I'm thinking of trying a lower dose (0.5mg fin taken on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so half of before) but I have a question which no one ever seems to answer. If 0.5mg and 0.25mg of fin suppress DHT by about the same amount, why would lowering the dose reduce sexual side effects? It makes no sense to me. This might work in someone experiencing nocebo but I am NOT experiencing that, my side effects were legit and both times they took a while to show up. I'd really appreciate an answer to this question, thank you. I'm thinking of trying an even lower dose (0.5mg on Monday and Thursday) because I really don't want to get those side effects again.

No it won't have a negative impact on muscle growth. There was a study done on this and there is no evidence muscle training has any effect on hair loss. Dht causes hair loss and not the testosterone directly
There are small changes in T initially but they level out within a few weeks as the body compensates. So in essence: it will make no difference to T levels.
Pretty sure finasteride doesn’t accumulate in skin or whatever to have some prolonged effect other then its relevant half life. BUT the 5AR enzyme itself has a long half life so it takes time to be rebuilt!!!

Start as low as you can and work up from there after 6 or so months if needed. You can always build up but it will take longer to stop, and then drop the dose down again.
What i wanna know is, is there any difference in taking finasteride every other day and taking it daily if the dose at the end of the week is exactly the same? Like is there any benefit in cutting pills to take them daily over every other day because for example it provides a more staple level of finasteride and the hormones for example? Or is the halflife so long that one day breaks literally dont make the slightest difference. Thank you guys!

I love these 2. They follow the science, and are honest as it gets.

Thanks for the information
Any sides at all downstairs?
@curtisjackson7814 dut 7x a week is crazy 😝 no way I could hack that
Any hair growth from Dut?
@@nomad6086it's impossible to get a 0.07 mg dosage. Tablet cutters can get it to a max 0.25mg
So, where did you hear that finasteride causes "central nervous system damage?" Is there any studies or research on this that you could refer me to? And why don't these doctors here talk about CNS damage from finasteride? Are they hiding this information? Also, what was the low dosage of finasteride that you utilized?
Very pertinent video chaps!
I feel that many people write off finasteride too soon by overdoing their dose and experiencing side effects. Titration is a proven way to soften the lowering of serum DHT and to minimise side effects.
Look forward to the next video.
. Taking it every 4 days:
• With a 0.125g dose taken every 4 days, you have 7 doses in a 30-day period (since 30 days / 4 days = 7.5 doses, rounded down to 7 doses).
• Total accumulated dose = 0.125g * 7 doses = 0.875g
Since each dose lasts for 30 days, and you're taking a dose every 4 days, the cumulative effect for each month remains constant at 0.875g. Therefore, over the entire year, the cumulative effect will never exceed 0.875g, as the doses from the previous months stop contributing after 30 days.

10:34 Stability equals 3-5 mg per week
This is a good template range most people, but even 1-3mg weekly can achieve cessation of hairloss for many.
Titration is fundamental to avoiding side effects. 1mg daily is overkill.
Hey docs, was wondering about the two 10 year studies on finasteride. It seems, if I'm understanding it correctly, that they saw MORE growth/regrowth in the 5-10 year period. I thought fin would gradually stop working or that you would see the "final" results in the first couple of years, but the studies seem to say otherwise.
What about absorption of finasteride ? Does it diminish with age ? Do certain foods/substances interfere with absorption and/or effectiveness ?

Could you make a video on microdosing dutasteride and one on topical fin?
Sigh.
I've been on it for 30 years and have never had one side effect.
Me neither
Didn’t it stop working at some point ?

When taking it, how much hair do you sheds everyday?
docs, regarding side effects and custom dosing... you say finasteride lasts in the scalp skin for 30 days, leaves the body in 30hrs, and dht levels return to normal in under 2 weeks.

Sry if this is a foolish question i am not good with biosciences
Fin stays in the skin for a month, but the amount that stays there reduces over that month. At the end of the month it can still be detected in the skin, but at a much lower volume than the mgs it was first taken at.
Если оно остаётся на 30 дней в скальпе ,то какой смысл пить каждый день или через день..?выпил один раз в 2 недели и всё,нет?
Наверное не так
Why are you not talking extensively about most common side effects?

Pls make video on patient of mpb of age 16 years old
