Yup, i def suggest starting out with 3x a week. Been on it for a year and stoppedy hair loss. I had some libido sides, but that goes away with continued use.

I started with 1mg thrice weekly but then had side effects on libido & had to stop. I restarted after a while & this time no side effects. But wasn't getting the results. So increased the dosage to 1mg daily & it worked like magic. Almost 90% reduction in hairfall in 2 months. Also this was coupled with topical minoxidil.

The "libido" side effect makes no sense to me. You are not reducing testosterone by taking finesteride. You should actually be marginally increasing the testosterone level by blocking testosterone convertion to DHT.
How long were you on 1 mg thrice weekly on your second attempt before concluding that you weren't getting the results? Also, how old are you?

i have been doing 1 mg everyday for 5 years never had an issue . I don't even think about it and never did , i think a lot for the negatives and be psychological
So 3 times per week has been in your experience the most well tolerated dose for your patients, but 1mg per day will be better for some people.
Excellent info on 5AR regeneration time and logic. Didn't know about this. Maybe can I only ask, what's your evidence for that? That takes 3-4 weeks to re-do 5AR.
Hi! Thanks for the explanation why 3mg/week is enough. What about taking less than this in the long run? There are studies that show that 1.4 mg/week (0.2 mg/day) lead to nearly as great results as 7 mg/week (or 3 mg/week). Moreover, if Finesteride gets built up in the hair follicles, can I reduce it further after having taken it for a while (let’s say for a year)?
I take 1 mg
MWF and it has definitely slowed my hair loss.
I was taking it every other day but was hard to remember as the day changes every week.
I then went to MWF. But I was paronoid about to not being enough.
So I went to 1 every day.
It’s been a couple years now.
But I’m thinkin to drop it to MWF.

Hello, thanks for all this informations , please doctor I need help am 32 years old man I started using topical minoxidil 5 , for 6 months now twice a day the hair loss stopped and everything ok but I have excess of hair in my body and face my eyebrows thickens and i have hair in my front and i feel like my skin aging . what should I do please if you can make a video of those side effects
This is a video that has been very helpful, although 1mg a day does not cause me side effects and has been effective, the treatment is somewhat expensive in my country, economically looking for the optimal minimum dose seems good to me.

I’ve been taking .5mg 3x a week for 3 years and it works fine for me does a great job. Maybe in the future if it starts to work less I will increase to 1mg.

Curious - how bad was your MPB before you started on finasteride? Have you had any regrowth or just stabilization? Is that your initial dose or did you titrate down?
Topical 0,06 mg does the job just fine!

Basically 0.25 4 times a week.
Lots of studies show this to be effective and it works for me.
I used to take 1mg per day but got side effects.
Maybe I should try that 1 mg a week? (do you take 1 pill a week or the .25 mg 4xweek or does it matter?). You say that dose for you is efficacious as well as no sides? I started with the recommended 1 mg MWF but has terrible sides (e.g, poor erections, reduced ejaculatory fluid, muscle soreness, brain fog). I cut that down to .5 mg MWF & still had sides. My hair loss, which was relatively minor, stabilized & I even grew all the hair the back on the vertex! But man, I'm paying a price on sides.
This is what I’m starting with and will see how things go.

I take 1MG 4 times a week.. M/W/F and Sunday at 12AM and have been doing this for going on 3 years now. I still see hairs falling out, but it seems to have maybe slowed down just a bit. I'm 61 and still have a really good head of hair. Just some thinning on the crown. I have no side effects at all. In fact, I'm actually more "frisky" than I was before. What's up with that???? Not really sure that it's really helping me at all.
Do you have to take finestaride after hair transplant. Or wil the finerstride and moxiel spray work?.
Since the does response curve flattens off at 5 mg a week I take 1 mg mon-fri and skip the weekend seems to work well for me
finesteride isn't dose dependant, very little difference with 0.25mg- 1.00mg, you could take it eod and still have great results
I take it daily and every 3 months I stop for 2 weeks and continue the cycle.
I’ve taken 1mg a day for 3 + years no noticeable side effects

What about monday, wednesday, friday, sunday and then start again monday ect?
Took 1mg 3x/week but got fatigue + brain fog + no morning wood so start to 0.5mg 3x/week - I flet better after 1-2 weeks but not perfect, still some fatigue... Now I am at 0.25mg 3x/week and it seems OK. I will try it for several week and if all ok I will retry 0.5mg 3x/week and see wich solution I take. If 0.25mg 3x/week is not ok I will try 0.25mg 2x/week.
I also take 0.25 2x/wk. Used to take it daily, but had to many sides

What about using Finasteride with microdosing Dutasteride. I heard of a study that found that to be very effective.

I've been taking 1mg a day for about 10 months now, combined with topical Minoxidil every day. I haven't really seen any regrowth. But I don't think I'm losing any more. I seem to be maintaining. Unfortunately, I am one of the unlucky few (I guess) that has side effects. (A reduced, but not gone libido and a reduced volume) About a week ago I switched to every other day. We'll see how this goes.
Does your hair become thicker?

Everybody is different. I had mood and depression creeping in after 2 months after using finasterdie, even on 0.5mg per day.

0.5 mg is good, with 1mg I didn't see any side effects but felt my breast enlargement, so I stopped taking 1mg and reduced by half

@@toddmunzpu4418 For some there will be improvement. I heard Dutasteride will regrow 2-5 times more than Fin. People that took 5mg Fin in the studies had more regrowth than 1mg so it's lower dht = more regrowth.

It's been more than 4 months since I started using Minoxidil 5% and my hair started to shed a lot. Then, 1 month back, seeing your videos, I started taking Finasteride 1mg thrice a week and realized the shedding/hairfall has increased a lot. Initially I thought Minoxidil sheds bad hair and Finasteride stops shedding but do Finasteride also cause shedding for a few months? Should I stop taking Finasteride?

Exactly. I have my doubts if 1 mg every day is enough. Then why they would pass 5 mg for prostate? if they can get almost the same dht reduction with 1mg. There is something obscure in this. I am gonna go to 2,5 mg everyday
@@255mauro No, actually, they've done studies on that and concluded that 5 mg offers no benefits over 1 mg. That's why 1 mg a day is the recommended dosage when treating male pattern baldness. The only way to "step up" from that is to take Dutasteride, but its side effect profile is significantly worse.

@@255mauro To me it seems very unlikely. At best you'll be losing 2.5 times as much money. The mechanism of action of finasteride is DHT level reduction. As 5 mg of finasteride is not superior to 1 mg of finasteride in reducing the level of DHT in the scalp, why would 2.5 mg be?

Sir iam diagnosed with androgenic alopecia, I've a history of pattern baldness in my family! I am 22, I am Norwood grade 2 now , my hairline is receding and crown and mid scalp hair is miniaturinzig. My total testosterone level is 778.50 ng/dl and Estradiol level is 45.65 pg/ml . I used minoxidil for 1 year , and got 2 PRP sessions but not able to get stop the hair loss progression. Started with 20. I am 31 now. I take about 0.25 per day. If I skip one day mabe 0.3-0.4 the next day. No side effects that way.

Give it something like 6 few months and you can see for yourself. Took fin a 38 at 1mg a day and had sprouts popping up all over top of head. Unfortunately left it too late for any real great progress.

I was taking 1mg three times a week but started having pretty severe side effects (anxiety, depression, libido, ED) after about three weeks. Took a week off, after which the side effects were completely gone. Then started again, this time 0,5mg eod. Still having side effects on libido but less than before. My first question is, does the body adjust after some time and rebalance your hormones (estrogen, testosterone), thereby also reducing the sides? And second question is, would taking a small dose every day be better than a larger dose every other day, in terms of side effects (so not the hair loss)? This would make sense to me since it causes less disbalance in your system/blood. What is your opinion?
Also one more question, is the severity of side effects somehow related to the effectiveness of the medication? In other words, do strong side effects mean the finasteride has a strong effect on the hair follicles?
I was taking different doses of finasteride from 0,3mg to 1mg. When i was taking 0,8mg and 1mg everyday there was side effects with libido and depression. So now i taking much lower dose 0,3mg every other day and its much better for me. No side effects and i see real results. The total time of taking the drug is 2 months.

I don't have any side effects or depression or ED. Maybe because I use dose which recommended on this channel and not taking 1mg per day. Which is clearly too much.

I'm a post menopausal woman who has tried taking this stuff 3 times. Felt awful. My GYN honestly didn't know too much about this drug till I addressed my concerns with him awhile back. I saw him the other day and apparently he has now done his research and believes Post Finasteride syndrome is a thing and prefers I not get on it. We are trying spironolactone. I feel that now he was able to give me informed consent on this drug. I'm staying away.
@@SonyCamry yes saw palmetto. Not as good as fin tho but no side effects. I start feeling like myself again, start performing at work again.
