I was crying too, it's been a minute since I laughed so much. I suspect they had a quick rehearsal but Bill didn't see everything coming at him. That's the best compliment, getting a comedian to laugh.
He regurgitated that one from his episode with Larry David. The falling asleep bit was from the one with Jerry Seinfeld and a dozen others. A lot of the jokes were scripted and already used before.
Watch the first interview from 20+ years ago. Mahar’s is a baby-goblin-faced 44 years old. And it has some of my favorite jokes and zingers from Glick I’ve ever seen. I must have watched it a billion times. I was a huge fan of Politically Incorrect and always a hater of Bill Mahar 😂
Martin Short may be the most underrated comedian of all time! He’s talent personified! So quick, so smart, so genuinely funny to the core! Best bit on Real Time in a long long time.
The big problem has always been that nobody knew what to do with him. Because there's nobody else like him. He unconventional looking; he's not a stand-up; and he's not a movie star. He's not an everyman or a guy who would play a good sitcom character unless he is annoyingly over the top. Yet he can create sketch comedy characters and can sing. Only Murders In The Building is the first vehicle I have seen that was able to utilize Martin Short's comic talents without being ridiculous or untruthful. And Jiminy Glick.

Typically, I only listen to the Bill Maher podcast. However, after hearing this interview and laughing out loud, I felt compelled to find it online and watch it as well. Martin Short visited our comedy writing class at Second City once, but I was unfamiliar with this character. Now, I’m planning to look up all the old interviews. Hilarious!

Short as Glick can run circles around absolute titans of comedy. The fact that he can reduce them to helpless giggles and tears is all you need to realize that Short is the best of the best. What a treat seeing Glick out of retirement.
The absolute brilliance of Jiminy Glick (Martin Short) is the fact he NEVER breaks. Even when the folks he's interviewing are on the floor he maintains his ever vigilant demeanor. If it tries to go south he incorporates it beautifully. PURE GOLD!!!❤
