So now I'm 10 times more excited about this game, but could someone tell me where Danny was with all those purple trees?! Is it real or some sort of edit? I wanna go!!!!
Oh my GOD, I just blew my own mind. Ok ok... Imagine this. They use project morpheus and when you explore, it's like you're actually there, flying, swimming, discovering new planets and areas. Imagine the verticallity. It would feel amazing - almost like you're no longer on earth. This looks like the perfect game for Morpheus, to me! OMG!
Don't get hyped then. Just let it come out and let yourself see what it is about without having such impossibly high expectations. You are in control of that, you aren't in control of how the game will be.
I love hearing this guy talk. Everything he says about his game seems so genuine. So refreshing to see devs like this who explain their games, rather then just saying what people want to hear to get some preorders.
I am still extremely sceptical... I've been burned more than once on games where you supposedly "can do ANYTHING". The problem with procedually generated games and "emergent gameplay" is that it can end up being an experience where the chance of something exciting happening is as slim as riding the bus to work every day. The parallel to Skyrim, drawn by the end of the video, exemplifies my point, because the reason why encounters in that game were interesting was because designers had spend years handcrafting them, but there's no guarantee that a game that utilizes a bunch of different templates for encounters and events will have the same lasting appeal. I sure hope No Man's Sky will be a great game though! Let's see how much of a game it is when they release it, I guess...
Have you ever played any of the Stalker games? Random encounters in Skyrim don't hold a candle to the things that may end up happening while you're wondering in The Zone.
But see... the beautiful thing about what he said was that he tried to honestly say "No, you can't do anything and everything," which suggests that he's confident in what he's suggesting you can do is true. He's excited and ambitious but he's got his feet on the ground. It sounds like he's genuinely speaking from his heart, like a realistic Peter Molyneux.
Silver Aura Some people just don't realise that games have limits and they always will. The very idea of this game is original and far-fetched, but also brilliant and inspirational. If this game is as fantastic as it sounds, then it will surely pioneer a new era of games which entail years of development but decades of potential as a result. It seems to me he's not exaggerating the game because he knows exactly how great the real thing is.
Or maybe like in spore where you can encounter civilizations who are less sophisticated and you can interact with. Then you could help raise them to intergalactic levels. This would be a cool Update. I don't see it being a thing from launch
***** I loved Spore. I remember abducting a few aliens I found on a world in the civilization stage and dropping them on a uninhabited planet that could support them. I sat and watched them for a bit as they made a fire and huddled around it and went about trying to adapt to survive. I left for a bit and started an interstellar war against a species that kept demanding money from me. When I came back after the wiping that race out to start a colony I found the primitive aliens I had planted there had spread out across the world and created a new tribal society. It was pretty cool the game could allow for that to happen. Needless to say I had to wipe them out so I could start my colony. I still remember the poor little bastards running as my space ship disintegrated their huts.
The developers have a lot of passion for this game, and they're promising a LOT, but between the fact that it's a small development team and that they're showing a lot less than they're telling (or being really vague in what they do say), I'm skeptical. I want this game to be good, but I fear that while the universe may be expansive and have plenty to explore, the substance of the gameplay itself might the lacking. I hope I'm wrong, but at the same time, I think it's worth noting.
While you should always remain skeptical to at least tame your expectations so that you aren't underwhelmed or Watchdogged ( lol.. ) when it does release, I think the head of development is trying to give you just enough info to intice your curiosity, without inadvertently giving away huge spoilers about the game, it's creatures/inhabitants, malevolent overseers, and the multitude of scenarios that can occur and help define your experience playing through your own endless "campaign".
This sorta hit me hard, I mean not in like sadness, in exactly what they wanted the scale of this game to be. You will be the first person to see a certain creature, a certain solar system, a certain part of the galaxy. Even if its populated by AI, you are that systems discoverer, and while in the real world is pointless, as a game, it tackles the very essence of why we explore. Not to find the meaning of life for everyone, but find what completes us. I'm getting real philosophical here, but seriously this game, when its released will have a huge impact on several peoples lives. In my own opinion, this is one of the greatest achievements of video games, and one of the many reasons people buy video games in the first place. I can't wait to play it.
Its something new. One thing I'm getting from these developers is that they're keeping it real without giving everything away. They're not on that "this will be the best game blah blah blah bullshit". They had a vision of what they wanted, working hard on it, and letting you know straight up that if we dont like it when it comes out, they won't waste any more time on it. I can respect that, none of that sugar coating BS.
Some people say "We want a new thing, something original" well here you go but then some people say this game sucks, so I have a question, WHAT DO YOU WANT?
I saw this video when it came out, and revisit now due to all the hate. Having watched this video again, I agree with the reductionist argument that this game was "Space Skyrim". That's not a bad thing. But it clearly spells out that this is not an MMO where you can trade shit with alliance mates. You look at pretty visuals, pet some dinosaurs, and fly around. I was wondering what game other people thought they saw?
Well holy shit. What Sean said in this video about their release plans is pretty much exactly what they ended up doing. I wish everyone watched this video before buying it at launch. Sure, it would have lost some sales from those who wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway, but the backlash would have been much less.
The most amazing thing about this game is the company. It was practically unknown, and its location, Guildford, where I live, is its location. Its amazing, as there are huge companies such as COD [activision/treyarch] who make the same game all the time, and only think of money. This is one of those companies that listen to the players and help them play, who care about the players, and care about the game. Thankyou Hello Games for this, and thankyou for these amazing plans and we all hope for a release soon!
i'm truly so inspired by these guys who created this. I hope to get there too someday and use my creativity to show the world a brand new gaming experience.
You know what would be really cool? If the player base kind of molded themselves into different roles and they split into two different community made factions and had a war. That would be dope
You can tell this man has passion and truly cares about his creation. This game just leaves me breathless. How immersed one can get into this new world, this new universe is simply fascinating to say the least. I honestly could care less if weapons were in the game. The exploration itself is enough for me. This game is a jewel honestly. I saw quite a few triple A titles at E3 this year. Yet, many Indie games and smaller projects caught my attention in ways none of those larger titles did. I'm truly looking forward to this title and I know many others are. But most of all, I look forward to the personal reflection I'll gain and the perspective it gives me on the world I live in, what I should explore, and how I can grow by observing the true beauty of nature and our own universe. Totally looking forward to this!
+DABS139 It will even make history if the center of the galaxy is a black hole that provides a portal to a parallel universe. That's unimaginable vastness. As well as if we find a planet inhabited and dominated by humans. I hope all those things were included in the parameters they set for the game.
This game gives me chills... The scale alone is mind boggling. And the isolation of each player too. If you finally meet someone I wonder how a person react in such an event in game. It all sounds like a dream.
Well if I'm correct this will come first come to ps4 then after a couple months later either pc or xb1 then a few months later we will come full circle
To be fair the xbox one and ps4 do not have many technical gaps the main one is the ps4 has more ram thus can have more things on the screen other than that the more "superior" technology is just better graphical fidelity
You can tell the lead dev is so creative by the way he speaks about it, you can just see all his dreams flashing behind his eyes. Amazing stuff, I personally can't wait.
This is a impressively good interview. The developer really gets room for expressing himself, and he really seems sympathetic, passionated, and most of all he is real. After watching this I look even more forward to play that (hopefully) epic game!
No fairly certain they haven't mentioned Xbox at all. But they never mentioned PC either before they announced it, so that doesn't mean Xbox isn't in it's future. If it happens though I get the feeling it will be quite a bit out from the PS4 launch.
Sorry to say this but they have been working on the ps4 edition for a long time and it'll be a while till PC comes out and xbox will never be able to get the game...
What a down-to-earth kind of guy. I wish him and the studio nothing but the best and I can't wait to play this game. This game if it does materialize, it will be the mother of all open world games.
in my opinion, the scarcity of players make encounters more meaningful. imagine being alone out in space for so long, finally running into someone. you may decide to explore the galaxy together. they may even become your best friend. heck, this game could potentially break down language barriers. players coming from different cultural experiences, speaking different languages, but working together for a common goal.
I can't come up with words to describe how amazing this looks! It says your name when you discover a new world and shows everyone your name when they find it too. That alone is a big thing for me. Being able to discover your own world and then forever being known as the discoverer of it. This looks great the upgrades and the space exploration looks great. And the graphics look absolutely amazing! I have never played this kind of game before. Has there ever been a game as amazing as this?
Pretty refreshing seeing a dev being so candid about the strengths and limitations of their game. it's obvious they're not allowed to talk about too much, but they're okay with saying the game won't do certain things.
The quality of GameSpots videos has increased dramatically. I'd love to be on the GameSpot production team at some point in my life. Great video guys, keep it up!
+Filipe Melo No, you're wrong, the Creator of Cube World made a Post a while ago, where he said, that he still is working on the game, but he has some other Problems to deal with first.
I don't usually like games about flying around, but this game looks like it has so much more than any other game I've ever seen. It looks massive, and exciting, and beautiful, and full of life.

it's pretty obvious that this is actually illominati's attempt to take over the universe by putting the player (lab rat) in a robot drone that is capable of traveling through the universe to conour. it's obvious and clear to me hat once entering a game, a small drone in the illominata head quarters boots up and begins flying to a random planet. it then projects a gaming experience to distract the lab rat until it arrives, then it puts on a cartoony filter to make the real planet theyre on look like the game. not only are the illominiy going to take over the world, but Hello Games will take over eatrth this sin't even the beggining after the drones hav explored said planet and made it illoominatys the drone will deploy many small drones that begin making a becon. this becon allows ilominat to teleport to that planet and build space houses they can then make a space military and dominate all others who they see un fit, hello games being a huge percentage in this decision don't buy this game, illominitay is going to take the world over if you do

a theory doesn't mean i mad it up. look at the definition it is when you have made a hypothosis and have tested in extensivley. it is then called a theory. moral of ths story is to look up inforamation before you spout unreliable information
Im more exited about this game than i have ever been for any game in my life so far. An entire universe where you explore things that ACTUALLY no one else on the planet has seen before. Not even the developers. Im lucky i have a PS4 because im definitely saving up for this game. I probably wont leave my house for weeks xD
IF some of the game's planets REALLY ARE planet sized, how the hell are we ever going to be able to LOAD this world??? Saying that planets will probably never be fully explored?!? This sounds impossible! God, I hope this is really how it is going to be! Sounds like a real universe.
cough *Minecraft* cough *JAVA* cough cough *dies* (what I am trying to say is that if JAVA can generate almost infinite minecraft worlds, then so can a proper engine.)
I think this is what people wish Destiny was, they wanted this free exploration of planets to gain levels and loot, visits cities and look at scenery. But i am still so confused, this game is so beyond my dreams i don't even know if triple A developers would be able to make it, let alone a small indie studio. Let's just wait, see and hope that this will be the game they are making it out to be.
You'd be surprised at what gaming studios, big or small, can accomplish with determination and a unique goal. Triple A developers don't make games like this because it's risky. It might or might not catch on well with the general public. They know cookie-cutter games will sell, at least for the time being, so they make those. Indie developers are usually new, upcoming individuals into the market that still have their artistic drive, and their motivation to do what they want regardless of making a lot of profit. Triple A developers, for the most part, had that at some point, but got lost in the money, much the same as certain politicians may have been honest, good people and then turn corrupt after their career.
This game, although much time spent developing, creates itself. The scale of such a game has no limits, having 200 devs working on it, wouldn't be any better than having just 10. In fact it's probably much better that such a small team is working on such a large game, it might actually work. :D Big companies won't likely go for such an option because, it's all about the money. These guys seem like they are going back to just making games for games.
***** Never get your hopes up, or set expectations, but always keep an eye out and stay informed. Be cautious, don't look for information you want to hear/deafen yourself to information you don't want to hear, and realize if the game is for you. Do this, you'll never (or at least, very rarely), make a bad purchase.
Mark Oliver My mindset exactly. The main reason so many big games these days are considered "failures" is because people build these massive hype trains, and then when the game doesn't reach the astronomical goals set by the runaway hype people begin to tear it down, even when it's actually an ok or even great game. Went with that approach for destiny, and while I still recognize its flaws I'm actually enjoying myself in game
This game grabbed me from the moment I read the first few articles about it. this is exactly the type of game I (and many others I'm sure) have been waiting for. Finally a game where you can do what you really want to do, eve online skirted around the idea years ago, but planning out a career path for a mining mogul is fun and all, but this game seems to fully blend all of the things that draw the dynamic gamer - first and most importantly, the scope of the game, and the engine of procedural generation incorporated here make for a game that could make for endless replay value, for the life of the next generation consoles - secondly, the ability to explore something for yourself, many games corral you, even after advertising a large open world - they force you into the spots where the developer has concentrated non static content that is meant to be the main draw or wow factor for the world, this game specifically keeps it's static and lets face it, awe inspiring content tucked in its front pocket, holding its hand of cards close to the chest, so it can keep on dishing out the magnificent sense of discovery without the downtime of pre programmed wastelands devoid of activity - sure there will probably be wastelands abound in No Mans Sky, but the ability to literally go anywhere else in the galaxy if you didn't like where you are is a very appealing factor. Third is the appealing aspect of multiplayer - I've played first person shooters until I'm blue in the face, but the appeal of a community where every player is just flotsam and jetsam floating around an unexplored galaxy (I imagine when you discover a world, and publish it, it becomes like a destination for other people to choose to visit, and possibly establish as part of their own dynamic galaxy, which is why the game is so expansive) to interact with each other in less conventional ways than in an mmorpg, like simply trading or dueling or stealing from one another - what if you could barter/ exchange star charts, or help cross research upgrades based on ones that other players have and you don't or vice versa - sure killing them might be an option, but why bother when the other options could be so much more engaging and rewarding. Finally this seems to be the first game in a long line of games that have laid claim to an expansive open world - that will finally deliver on a world we adventure loving gamers can literally get lost in.
18,446,744,073,709,551,616 possible planets to discover... “Even if a planet is discovered every second, it’ll take 585 billion years to find them all" that's truly a *fuck you* to all the completionists out there *lol*
im pretty sure they are adding a feature where you can play with your friends, it would be a waste not to, you would get more sales knowing the game can be made into bounty hunting and clans owning areas of a galaxy. its very fun that way. They keep saying that's not the core element and the core is the algorithms, they say this because the game ends up being so much bigger then just bounty hunting and killing. Collecting endless different kinds of resources for endless amounts of ship upgrades i assume. Endless stuff to discover as well. It makes mmo style game play seem pointless. But, i could also see people being able to Warp(Space Jump) something like that with the required resources to hunt people down or befriend them. The universe is endless but distance might not be an issue. So much is unknown about this game, im getting so freaking excited. I also hope you have a 360 environment you can fly in befor you get into a planets atmosphere.
This game looks vast !! Epic even !! I feel the game will develop in2 what ever type of game u want it 2 b, that's where it's really interesting. And above all, and what seems 2 be missing lately with alot of other developers, they have genuine passion , and excitement in their product, (probably due the fact that such a small team r working on it) . I personally will follow it's development avidly, and sincerely wish it'll develop in2 the masterpiece I think it can be !!..
Can we just acknowledge the production of this little web-series thing? Gamespot is doing television level documentaries/interview/things, whatever you want to call this. And to be honest it kinda makes me excited about the future of gaming in television.
I was wondering...when you go to a planet, how big is the planet really? like is it the whole planet as you see in space? that would be great. Also 3:44 that giant ass sand snake thing, loving that
I think that unless there are mirrors or reflections in the game, you will never really know what your avatar/character really looks like until you meet someone else face to face in No Man's Sky. Either ways this was a great vid and I'm definitely excited on what I could find after seeing that gigantic snake in the video.
I make My gun so powerfull so I can kill worlds so if I find a world with real player I wait to the mine then here go all my Nuke hahahaha and text him or her befor it hit the world lol say bye ur nuke time hahaha and him or her cry out lol
Think about it, the chances of you coming across a planet with intelligent beings on it will be stupendously small, the size of space is what most people have problems grasping, it's big, like really really really really really really really really BIG, but it should be fun trying :-D
I have a hope that they do keep supporting this game for a long time to come, and that it'll be a game I play throughout the life cycle of the PS4. It'll always be there in the background, I'll play other games but always come back to No Man's Sky to dip into the universe.
I just can't get over how awesome the art style is for this game. Some of it reminds me a bit of Simon Stalenhag's sci-fi art. If you don't know him, make sure to check him out.
Holy god. This guy is such a good host. I love his vids. I hope in no man's sky you will be able to see you're character and have the option to choose either a male or female and have the option to Change armor. I'ma probably be a collector. Hunt down really rare stuff and do what ever to get it. This game is gonna be sick.
johny biscuit Can you cite that with a source? Everything I've heard and read suggests that it's console depute will be on the Playstation 4 but it's a PC game so it will be released either on PC first or along side Playstation 4.
Silver Aura I dont realy know how to site the sources because im new to youtube and im on mobile but I can tell you this the developers said they were doing a console debut for the ps4 and that they want to make a pc version
I think that unless there are mirrors or reflections in the game, you will never really know what your character looks like until you meet someone else in the universe. Either ways great vid and I'm definitely excited exploring the universe after seeing that gigantic snake in the interview.
This game looks beautiful, it truly stands out from others. It's unique and foreign. I can't wait. I just hope you are able to explore with friends. I think that would complete the game.
I wasn't looking forward to Destiny, I didn't get hyped for Guild Wars 2, and SWTOR wasn't something I thought would work. But this game is something to look forward to, I actually believe them.
i am gonna land on planets, call it TeddyWorld (insert number here) and sell all the resources that i find to buy/make better ships so i can call even more planets TeddyWorld
I think that when players reach the center of the galaxy in NMS, the first one there will spawn a new galaxy and will be able to explore that one first before anyone else. I believe that what the developers are trying to say here in this interview is that your objective is to become something that is the result of your actions throughout the game and this is your reward, as the dev said you could maybe become the "number one botanist" etc etc. I really believe that they're leaving our outcome in this game to us, and that is pretty exciting. Forums, websites, rankings and stuff will be created to allow us to form a huge community showing everyone's discoveries, ships, multi tool upgrades and suits. This is going to be a game for people who enjoy creating their own roles, role playing and really immersing themselves in the game world and community.
So, I still don't entirely get how the multiplayer fits in. If the world is procedurally generated for every individual (is that right?), how are we able to meet up with others in the same instance? Won't all our planets be slightly different? Maybe it's like Dark Souls, where you have to "go into" someone elses world in order to physically join them? Or did I misunderstand, and the world is only procedurally generated once, and that one is used for everybody?
Much like in real life, once an object has been discovered by a player it becomes recorded in a database, and other players viewing it will see what was procedurally generated for you at the time of that objects discovery. There is a sort of historical consistency in that nothing exists until viewed by a player but once created it is set and stone and not subject to further change. However if you only looked at one side of a planet, another player can fill in the blanks by viewing the other side of a planet - but their discovery will need to remain consistent with the characteristics of the planet that were generated at the time of your initial discovery. I have to wonder if the developers are aware of just how close to the functioning of our actual reality they are coming with this game - people familiar with quantum mechanics and digital physics will know what I'm talking about.
Scott Douglas I'm not personally familiar with those fields, but I certainly see what you mean. That explains what Sean was saying in reference to the question "After a week, won't everything be discovered?" It's a very intriguing idea. Although, it kinda makes the 'procedural generation' thing as a *feature* sound far less important than people thought. I mean, there's the *initial* generation, but then it might as well not be randomly generated at all, given that everything can only be discovered once. It's not a huge deal, but surely this lessens the notion of people having unique experiences.
nono, you got it wrong. Each planet is created unique, wich means the galaxy wont have two planets be the same. But once a planet is created (when someone finds it i asume) that planet is the same for everyone, probably stored in their own server. This just made me realize you cant play this offline for sure :(
Procedural generation was explained sometime after VGX. Hello Games came up with a system that makes a procedural galaxy based off of variables. Then the engine spits out a galaxy. The variables are the same for every player, so the galaxy is the same for every player. It's like jumping into our nearest Galaxy. You don't know what's out there but it is out there and other people can find it too. You just might be the first, or only one to see that planet, but it still exists for other players to one day find and see your name next to the creatures and things you've discovered. And if I had to guess, the multiplayer will probably be like Journey. You won't know if a player has "joined" your game, and he won't either. You'll just see each other as you pass through that part of space, or the game might not decide to connect you at all and you just pass the same part of space without ever connecting, and never seeing each other.
I think what happens when you get to the center of the galaxy is there's a black hole that takes you to another galaxy for you to discover, to an infinite number of galaxies and I think that's why he refers to it as a universe and not just the galaxy.
+Nick Rontidis The most obvious effect of reaching the center of the galaxy is all the players will be in a confined area that will make it much easier to find each other. "Congratulations, you have reached the center of the galaxy. Multiplayer unlocked!"
Can you tag planets, like make a favourite list of the planets you liked the most? Maybe easy access to said planets, or an autopath/fast travel system to those.
Xenos369 I'm glad you have seen all the wildlife in the galaxy. To make such a bold statement without actually playing the game would have made you look ignorant. You did play the game right?
VirgateSpy it certainly is not. That is what convergent evolution means (organisms of different lineages evolving similar features). However, based of all the No Man's Sky videos i have seen, ALL animals look like earth animals. If i saw an example that doesnt look like an earth animal based on the videos so far, i wouldnt be making this comment.
There needs to be : Jet packs Hoverbikes Abilities (like gliding or teleporting like in Destiny) Perks for yourself and your ship Highly destructive environments Make shift weapons (like bow & arrows) Space Stations you can explore on Create and build on planets (like crafting your home base and having the ability to teleport there if your to far away) Levitate objects Have trade options when your with other players Im so freakin excited for this game i think of anything else;p
Well that really sucks that you won't be able to just start with or possibly ever meet your friends. I know the first guy i'll meet will be some dude from europe who speaks broken english and i'll have to stick with him for ages lol.
Yes everone loves to play With you guys your great :-) can feel the ironi Whats your second language or third .... No. sorry most off you speak english o sorry exept for al spanish, mexacans arabs so yes the true amarican often now less then Europeans . So the next time you talk to some one that Speaks a litle strange Shut up
That'd be cool but kind pointless seeing as how you couldnt land on them or get anything from them. Theyd really just be a big scenic waste of fuel lol
Blue But, you can not leave your ship unless it is landed. A Gas planet does not have land lol So it wouldnt really be a "gas" giant if you were able to land and explore it on foot.
This game is obviously like Entropia Universe, which is a good thing. Games like this, Entropia Universe, DAYZ etc with huge areas to explore are what the future of all games should be. Open world and endless play styles.
I really freaking want to be able to explore the fallen enemy ships, especially the big ones, get in there, maybe find survivors, or just salvage shit xD (Maybe getting into a zoologists ship and finding a feral enemy that he was holding in a cage, or hazardouz plants, automatic defenses, that shit)
Pc doesn't count, we don't care what games go to pc i meant for consoles, and if you go watch the interview with the devs, they said because of how Microsoft treated them over Joe danger, it will be a few years before and even if Xbox gets the game, so in my opinion, since they haven't even started on a xbox version its about 3-5 years away for them if they even make it that's why i said only ps4
There are so many personalities I would love to play as in this game, like a space pirate. Or a peaceful trader of goods. Or a wandering traveler that has seen many different worlds. The possibilities are endless! But one thing I would like to see, is the community to have some kind of home world. Something that players themselves have made. Just a world that everyone one knows about and can visit there to find their friends. Just some kind of place we can all be happy together before we set out on grand adventures.
Please don't take the Dark Souls approach, Don't make multiplayer garbage. I'm begging you........ No Man's Sky is going to be my reason to purchase an xbone.
I was told that it will be available on PS4 First, then other consoles later... Oh don't start that crap on my comment please, there is no best console, sheesh.
This game looks phenomenal so far. I REALLY hope that Hello Games doesn't soil it by adding a "traditional" multiplayer mode. At most, I want that mode to consist of a small, 2-4 player session that will enable people in your game to explore your galaxy with you.
You know what would be a really cool aspect for this game? Home or base building. Discover a planet you like, collect resources, find a suitable location, build a home/base for you or perhaps even for you're friends
OMG!
i think that would be amazing
Your right!
Or Occulus (he says hoping that Facebook doesn't make it so awful that Morpheus ends up being better)
I agree, this would be the perfect selling point for Morpheus ...
Yeah... Kinda makes me wonder what Xbox will do with this game... Probably more stuff with the kinect... I never use it anymore
I really hope this game will live up to the hype.
I dont like that word in this context, reminds me of watch dogs :/
***** lol knew watch dogs was gonna suck, but no one wanted to believe the one kid who called it versus the millions who didn't
Jake Johnston hey i called it too :( it totally looked like a lame version of modern day assassins creed
Don't get hyped then. Just let it come out and let yourself see what it is about without having such impossibly high expectations. You are in control of that, you aren't in control of how the game will be.
Jake Johnston Watch dogs was a great game. It was just overhyped. I give it a 7.8 out of 10.
One day this will be the best game

Me- You never leave your goddamn house again!
I love hearing this guy talk. Everything he says about his game seems so genuine. So refreshing to see devs like this who explain their games, rather then just saying what people want to hear to get some preorders.
I'm going to find a solar system. Land on all the planets and name all the creatures on each one. I look forward to classifying them Darwin style.
Dude, you sound like a 15 year old who just lost her boyfriend "...I've been burned more than once" lol.
ForeverRepublic you sound like 12.
I kinda want to see more urban environments. Alien cities would be awesome
***** When you start the game do you think there will be charector customization if so you think they'll have an option to be an alien or a human.
***** or you can slaughter them and plunder their resources ﹋o﹋
peepjoshua57 That sounds just as fun
The developers have a lot of passion for this game, and they're promising a LOT, but between the fact that it's a small development team and that they're showing a lot less than they're telling (or being really vague in what they do say), I'm skeptical. I want this game to be good, but I fear that while the universe may be expansive and have plenty to explore, the substance of the gameplay itself might the lacking. I hope I'm wrong, but at the same time, I think it's worth noting.
Way to bring me hype train to a halt :(
While you should always remain skeptical to at least tame your expectations so that you aren't underwhelmed or Watchdogged ( lol.. ) when it does release, I think the head of development is trying to give you just enough info to intice your curiosity, without inadvertently giving away huge spoilers about the game, it's creatures/inhabitants, malevolent overseers, and the multitude of scenarios that can occur and help define your experience playing through your own endless "campaign".
Drin The Leader You make a fair point, ill keep that in mind.
Potato
same, want this to be good but i am so skeptical.
More innovating than various AAA games that cost $60. Indie Devs are pushing the boundaries, I wonder if it will support Steam Workshop on PC.
It would be insane not to have Steam Workshop for a game like this
***** for now its only for ps4 i think :/
Blergh
only timed exclusive for ps4 then we'll get a pc release
hottysquirrel Not confirmed bud. That's speculation. The only thing we know for sure is that it's releasing on PS4.
How could they insert steam workshop?
You can discover something no one else may discover. That right there gave me chills..
That is exactly how I'm thinking. Now I know there are wise human beings out there.
I want a girlfriend, possibly a family, a new job and some goddamn happiness in my life....but meanwhile I'll settle of this awesome looking game.
Yes, yes I am.
Nope, dont like it deal with it, I am saying COD fans suck its the facts.
Wait what, dude u are seriously confusing me I said that people want something new, and then they see something new and they hate it.
That just goes to show people will always build their own hype and listen to what they wanna hear.
Right on!.
Freya de Vries yeah, please dont do this over again
You know what would be really cool? If the player base kind of molded themselves into different roles and they split into two different community made factions and had a war. That would be dope
Who else is about to go on the quest too find No Man's sky gameplay you haven't seen deep down in the depths of RUclips? Because I am.
lol I'm doing that right now
You can tell this man has passion and truly cares about his creation.
This game will make history...
It already has
Filipe Melo Yet, there has not been no release date.
+DABS139 there is, June 2016
+DABS139 It will even make history if the center of the galaxy is a black hole that provides a portal to a parallel universe. That's unimaginable vastness. As well as if we find a planet inhabited and dominated by humans. I hope all those things were included in the parameters they set for the game.
It did make history. ^^
This game gives me chills... The scale alone is mind boggling. And the isolation of each player too. If you finally meet someone I wonder how a person react in such an event in game. It all sounds like a dream.
This needs to come to PC! This is my dream game!
Well if I'm correct this will come first come to ps4 then after a couple months later either pc or xb1 then a few months later we will come full circle
colin the xbone is basically not coming for a multitude of reasons
Well apparently it could run on A ps4 so why not xbone
PS4 is more powerful than the xbone and they haven't even considered making NMS for it too
To be fair the xbox one and ps4 do not have many technical gaps the main one is the ps4 has more ram thus can have more things on the screen other than that the more "superior" technology is just better graphical fidelity
You can tell the lead dev is so creative by the way he speaks about it, you can just see all his dreams flashing behind his eyes. Amazing stuff, I personally can't wait.
Childhoo dream come true.
Sean is a brilliant man, I hope he stays true to the vision and doesn't listen to some criticism pre or post release.
"Some criticism"
Haha.... haha... HAHAHAHAHA!
Thanks for the laugh.
There needs to be more devs like this.
This guy, and Hellogames have some serious dedication.
This game will be a masterpiece :)
We're getting close now, good luck to the boys and girls behind the game!!
This is a impressively good interview. The developer really gets room for expressing himself, and he really seems sympathetic, passionated, and most of all he is real. After watching this I look even more forward to play that (hopefully) epic game!
have never heard of this game until right now.
HOLY MOTHER OF GODS DOES THIS LOOK FANTASTIC!
i wish i could afford a pc to do it justice though :-(
It's a PS4 exclusive unfortunately.
***** It will be coming to PC some time after PS4 version is released. :)
No fairly certain they haven't mentioned Xbox at all. But they never mentioned PC either before they announced it, so that doesn't mean Xbox isn't in it's future.
If it happens though I get the feeling it will be quite a bit out from the PS4 launch.
It's a timed ps4 exclusive I think it will have a year of exclusivity
I like these experimental, artsy games like Journey, Flower, flOw, Proteus etc.
***** even better
Pretty refreshing seeing a dev being so candid about the strengths and limitations of their game. it's obvious they're not allowed to talk about too much, but they're okay with saying the game won't do certain things.
He so exciting about his game that he's lost of words to describe it.
The quality of GameSpots videos has increased dramatically. I'd love to be on the GameSpot production team at some point in my life. Great video guys, keep it up!
This guy is gonna be a billionaire when it releases.
Yep hope he doesnt do what cube world devs did
+Filipe Melo they just took the release money and dissapeared never patching it again and let the comunity die
+Filipe Melo No, you're wrong, the Creator of Cube World made a Post a while ago, where he said, that he still is working on the game, but he has some other Problems to deal with first.
+Salat Gurke i hope he is telling the truth
Ich just saw he started posting on his Twitter account again! ^^
I don't usually like games about flying around, but this game looks like it has so much more than any other game I've ever seen. It looks massive, and exciting, and beautiful, and full of life.
it's pretty obvious that this is actually illominati's attempt to take over the universe
by putting the player (lab rat) in a robot drone that is capable of traveling through the universe to conour.
it's obvious and clear to me hat once entering a game, a small drone in the illominata head quarters boots up and begins flying to a random planet. it then projects a gaming experience to distract the lab rat until it arrives, then it puts on a cartoony filter to make the real planet theyre on look like the game.
not only are the illominiy going to take over the world, but Hello Games will take over eatrth
this sin't even the beggining
after the drones hav explored said planet and made it illoominatys the drone will deploy many small drones that begin making a becon. this becon allows ilominat to teleport to that planet and build space houses
they can then make a space military and dominate all others who they see un fit, hello games being a huge percentage in this decision
don't buy this game, illominitay is going to take the world over if you do
a theory doesn't mean i mad it up.
look at the definition
it is when you have made a hypothosis and have tested in extensivley.
it is then called a theory.
moral of ths story is to look up inforamation before you spout unreliable information
Were you high when you came up with this "theory"?
This statement reminds me of that Robin Williams movie "Toys".
***** Your "theroy" is as "impecable" as your spelling.
what even defines troll
that's what I thought
Im more exited about this game than i have ever been for any game in my life so far. An entire universe where you explore things that ACTUALLY no one else on the planet has seen before. Not even the developers. Im lucky i have a PS4 because im definitely saving up for this game. I probably wont leave my house for weeks xD
IF some of the game's planets REALLY ARE planet sized, how the hell are we ever going to be able to LOAD this world??? Saying that planets will probably never be fully explored?!? This sounds impossible! God, I hope this is really how it is going to be! Sounds like a real universe.
What do you mean by load? The game is generated by mathematical algorithms its not simply loaded.
cough *Minecraft* cough *JAVA* cough cough *dies* (what I am trying to say is that if JAVA can generate almost infinite minecraft worlds, then so can a proper engine.)
NamelessMaker lol at pretty much calling java an engine /facepalm
well, it is an engine of sorts. Kinda. its closer to an engine rather than an platform in Minecrafts case.
NamelessMaker No it is not. Not even "kinda" or "sort of". Java is a programming language.
I've been playing this for 30 years on my BBC Micro. Seriously, I can't wait for this.
Big companies won't likely go for such an option because, it's all about the money. These guys seem like they are going back to just making games for games.
***** It might become the new minecraft, we don't know.
Sometimes i feel it's too good to be true.
Can't wait! But it could come to PC:S:D
!!:)
18,446,744,073,709,551,616 possible planets to discover...
“Even if a planet is discovered every second, it’ll take 585 billion years to find them all" that's truly a *fuck you* to all the completionists out there *lol*
Lmao so u never find ppl out there for 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years dammmmm that is going be fuck up lol
ikr, but i think it may be possible! we would just need to unite every person on this planet and force them to play the game 24/7 xD
Yep lol
"Hey guys and welcome to Episode #1285609 of The Completionist: No Man's Sky"
im pretty sure they are adding a feature where you can play with your friends, it would be a waste not to, you would get more sales knowing the game can be made into bounty hunting and clans owning areas of a galaxy. its very fun that way.
At 3:46 the huge snake in the desert is actually the alaskan bull worm at the bottom of the sea. Spongebob easter egg confirmed=illuminatie confirmed
Also 3:44 that giant ass sand snake thing, loving that
Hope my world Donot have some try nuke it lol with me on it lol
The planets are planet sized, the creator himself said that you could put a million players on one planet and they would probably never find eachother
Ofcourse some are larger than others
Yea be crazy if u get lost on 1 then can never leave that world lol
Sounds amazing, already cant fucking wait for this game to be released like damn, this will be another great time spender imo
I think that unless there are mirrors or reflections in the game, you will never really know what your avatar/character really looks like until you meet someone else face to face in No Man's Sky.
Either ways this was a great vid and I'm definitely excited on what I could find after seeing that gigantic snake in the video.
This game seems WAYYYY to good to be true.
I say when it come out, youtubers should make a series where they try to find their friends. A epic journey for sure!
Will there be civilizations on the planets besides just wildlife. Like can I explore a planet and find a town of people and just... burn it down?
you sir need to work with the development team. great idea! would be very interested in that
Lmao I help by nuke that world hahahah
I make My gun so powerfull so I can kill worlds so if I find a world with real player I wait to the mine then here go all my Nuke hahahaha and text him or her befor it hit the world lol say bye ur nuke time hahaha and him or her cry out lol
Think about it, the chances of you coming across a planet with intelligent beings on it will be stupendously small, the size of space is what most people have problems grasping, it's big, like really really really really really really really really BIG, but it should be fun trying :-D
there will be AI to trade and fight with
I have a hope that they do keep supporting this game for a long time to come, and that it'll be a game I play throughout the life cycle of the PS4. It'll always be there in the background, I'll play other games but always come back to No Man's Sky to dip into the universe.
> "unveiling the gameplay"
> no new gameplay footage
They mean information-wise. Listen to the interview.
I just can't get over how awesome the art style is for this game. Some of it reminds me a bit of Simon Stalenhag's sci-fi art. If you don't know him, make sure to check him out.
I always wondered if you could CLAIM a planet as your own and then rule and protect it as your own.
You realise how large these planets are, right? Thousands of people could land on it and you'd never even notice.
Holy god. This guy is such a good host. I love his vids. I hope in no man's sky you will be able to see you're character and have the option to choose either a male or female and have the option to Change armor. I'ma probably be a collector. Hunt down really rare stuff and do what ever to get it. This game is gonna be sick.
the game will be launch in pc?
No PS4
Yes it will
It will be on ps4 first then pc and maybe xbone
johny biscuit Can you cite that with a source?
Do I get to romance someone?
your ship has a very cozy exhaust pipe
Then I'm sold!
gallopingLake6 As am I!
lmao!...woman *sigh*...
-flying around in space
-see something familiar flying in the distance
-it's eva unit 02
Long story short, i get to romance asuka.
This game looks beautiful, it truly stands out from others. It's unique and foreign. I can't wait. I just hope you are able to explore with friends. I think that would complete the game.
Im really glad the focus isnt on multyplayer, i just want to enjoy my solitude in the abyss.
Such great graphics at 1:35..like PURPLE LEAVES I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT
+ClemClemNation HD possibly color correction. I've seen similar effect before. But it looks absolutely beautiful and fitting for the theme of a video.
+ClemClemNation HD please say this was sarcasm
Im itching for new details about this game..
Man, this brings tears to my eyes. If this is exactly what they promise, I'll get the game I've been waiting for 15 years.
Do you need a tissue?
If a small team of about 10 people can make that, makes me wonder why these AAA studios are so populated.
I wasn't looking forward to Destiny, I didn't get hyped for Guild Wars 2, and SWTOR wasn't something I thought would work. But this game is something to look forward to, I actually believe them.
i am gonna land on planets, call it TeddyWorld (insert number here) and sell all the resources that i find to buy/make better ships so i can call even more planets TeddyWorld
im gonna do names with fox as the first like fox hop,fox squad, fox dog
the_mysterious_fox cool, i hope i will land on one of your planets someday
+beer van de ende I'm going to name all the creatures on the planet "Join Us" to freak out people who land on the planet.
Noah Glover haha, great idea
beer van de ende I try
Hang on, at 0:22 that was The Tet from Oblivion... AWSOME!
What do you think is at the center? A God-like omnipotent entity? The Milky Way?
Steve. i thought we allready knew that?
black hole that when you are violently sucked into you come out into are universe!
Darude-Sandstorm
thats a funny meme
+1 meme points
Scott Douglas
I'm not personally familiar with those fields, but I certainly see what you mean.
Yea one world used once I believe.
The developer seems like the friendliest person, I don't know why. I'm buying this game no question
This is the future, folks.
yup, seems like exclusives are the way to go...
Coming to PS4 first and not at all on xbone!!!
FK YEA!
Okay...
You don't know that, they said it will debut on PS4, they didn't confirm that it would never be on Xbox
Why is that so good? It makes the game's player base and community smaller
Actually they never said it won't come to xbox one
Word for word, “not everything will be possible when we launch the game”. He never lied people. Jesus Christ.
One more day. It's been a long road.
And now, a disappointing one.
Seriously. Damn you, me in the past, why didn't you see this coming?
u guys a bit happier now? :)
Can you tag planets, like make a favourite list of the planets you liked the most?
Maybe easy access to said planets, or an autopath/fast travel system to those.
Why does so much of the alien wildlife look like earth animals?
Why not?
IM Wercs millions of planets to explore, yet all animals resemble earth animals. That really ruins immersion... Some creative wildlife would be nice
Xenos369
I'm glad you have seen all the wildlife in the galaxy. To make such a bold statement without actually playing the game would have made you look ignorant. You did play the game right?
Xenos369 it wouldn't be a stretch to theorize that life on other planets would be very similar to life on Earth
There needs to be :
Jet packs
Hoverbikes
Abilities (like gliding or teleporting like in Destiny)
Perks for yourself and your ship
Highly destructive environments
Make shift weapons (like bow & arrows)
Space Stations you can explore on
Create and build on planets (like crafting your home base and having the ability to teleport there if your to far away)
Levitate objects
Have trade options when your with other players
Im so freakin excited for this game i think of anything else;p
ill be the first guy to discover sea-world.
i'll name it after my favorite and only book i read "Moby Dick"
Well that really sucks that you won't be able to just start with or possibly ever meet your friends. I know the first guy i'll meet will be some dude from europe who speaks broken english and i'll have to stick with him for ages lol.
LOL true .. Or we stick with americans who only speak english
Shevchenkocss Only speak english? Most of the world speaks english at least as a second language.
bukueOner How to make a universal language?
Become the largest empire in history.
...................at least for a little while. :D
lol or a russian who plays music at his home and keeps the mic on
Yes everone loves to play With you guys your great :-) can feel the ironi Whats your second language or third .... No. sorry most off you speak english o sorry exept for al spanish, mexacans arabs so yes the true amarican often now less then Europeans . So the next time you talk to some one that Speaks a litle strange Shut up
Beautiful moobs at 1:33!
Kind of wished this game had gas giants. Maybe that'll come in a patch after release?
Sean say it will not, but I hope it will be added. Or maybe make them pretty rare
Twwet it at the dev or post it on reddit.
That'd be cool but kind pointless seeing as how you couldnt land on them or get anything from them. Theyd really just be a big scenic waste of fuel lol
***** This game stretches the truth as it is; They could add wildlife, stations, etc. to find within the gas giants
Yep true word from a good info giver good job and keep it up k
Is nudity possible?...I mean in the game not in my chair
and can I kill those ugly ass dinosaurs?
DelbertStinkfester You ask the real questions.
Lol wut
Sean martine Well I already know that nudity is possible in my chair....cause I'm nakey right now
DelbertStinkfester hahahah lol 😂
I really freaking want to be able to explore the fallen enemy ships, especially the big ones, get in there, maybe find survivors, or just salvage shit xD (Maybe getting into a zoologists ship and finding a feral enemy that he was holding in a cage, or hazardouz plants, automatic defenses, that shit)
Please be XboxOne, PS4 & PC
Only ps4
tyson smith It is a timed exclusive. So no, not "Only ps4. It will be on PC as well. Eventually. Once Sony stops throwing money at licensing.
Paul J I noticed ont there website it says "Coming soon on ,ps4(N/A),XbxOne(N/A),PC(N/A)
Pc doesn't count, we don't care what games go to pc i meant for consoles, and if you go watch the interview with the devs, they said because of how Microsoft treated them over Joe danger, it will be a few years before and even if Xbox gets the game, so in my opinion, since they haven't even started on a xbox version its about 3-5 years away for them if they even make it that's why i said only ps4
it has been confirmed that it will be released on ps4 and later on pc
link to one of the sources:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Man's_Sky
Wait, did they confirmed XONE version? As far as I know it was confirmed being a timed exclusive for PS4 and a later release for PC.
Its ps4 and timed for pc. If you buy a xbone you will waste your money.
I was told that it will be available on PS4 First, then other consoles later... Oh don't start that crap on my comment please, there is no best console, sheesh.
***** well there clearly is the one with the best hardware and operating system and that atm is ps4 (excluding pc)
*****
it comes out on ps4, then a little later they will make a PC version, they are not making a xbone version.
Finally, a game with actually extensive exploration. Much pump such ready.
This game looks phenomenal so far.
I REALLY hope that Hello Games doesn't soil it by adding a "traditional" multiplayer mode. At most, I want that mode to consist of a small, 2-4 player session that will enable people in your game to explore your galaxy with you.
Born just in time to explore No Man's Sky feels good man.
I'm blown away by how amazing this game sounds can't wait for it.
You know what would be a really cool aspect for this game? Home or base building. Discover a planet you like, collect resources, find a suitable location, build a home/base for you or perhaps even for you're friends
