*Quick question:* If no one has been to a planet, how could scanning bring up a species name, as it wouldn't have one yet? Wouldn't it be cooler if you could in some way name the species you found yourself, as it is your discovery? Maybe?
StopAskingMeToChangeMyName I think samething like that. If no one has been there, how is there a beacon to send message ? I think that it does sound like no one from "real life" has been there, but when you get there, the name that upload is like the planet name for that species. If people could name the animals, they could appear just for you, because for everyone, people would screw with bad names maybe.
wamenslot I think that's where those Sentinels fit in lore wise. They seemed to be robots there to protect the planet from explorers, as he said, so the probe and stuff like that is from the Sentinel's presence on the planet already.
You can name stuff yourself. The game is one giant algorithm so it's all prodedurally generated with basic specie models, ship models, but infinite possibilities for variations to make it always seem different. Same thing with the names j believe, but he did say in an interview you can name your discovered planets, and alien life.
Long Johnson Sentinels are a galactic, or rather universal (since there are an unconfirmed amount of galaxies, possible millions) scale to protect space stations so they aren't attacked and what not, and planets are kept safe. You can attack them, but you will be fired upon if you ever go back to that specific area. It's not been released if that's solar system wide, or galaxy wide that they attack you in.
Jayh98 So lets say this game is based on multiplayer, since you cant visit all planets by yourself. What happens if you land on a planet, and destroy the beacon, since the guy said everything is destroiable. I know there are many questions then answers yet, but i hope at least this game has a singleplayer version with, maybe, bots. I know I know that playing with players is better, but i just dont like =X
I still find it amazing they managed to do all this with such a small development team and after their offices got flooded it's a shame they haven't made it available to all platforms but it with such a small development team it does make sense
teheverythingshowCA I don't know... I only saw a lot of marketing until now... and that is it. For me it seens a big universe full of nothing relevant to do.
It is STILL getting better. If you enjoy the exploration side of minecraft but feel like you've seen everything, try No Man's Sky. There are so many things to see and do and it's all so beautiful. The base building is pretty good too and there's quite a bit of customization. It's less grindy to get materials than minecraft, too.
@Joy_of_oi It's undeniable NMS is never going to be like the original trailers without things like a variation overhaul, combat update etc things like this is why I don't play it often
ask yourself how in the world this version can have better framerate, smoother and faster gameplay, better looking ui, waay less pop-in, more content, better looking planets (not littered with the same crystals, corals, pointy rocks, knowledge stones and lootcrates every 10m) and a more fluent scanning system than what was released a year later.
Because this wasn't an actual game. It was pre-rendered to make for good advertising material. Maybe they hoped the actual game would eventually look like this, but it was all way out of their league. They should've just delayed the damn thing for another year.
I'm still thinking this is much better than today, Next generation update is much better than the final game, obviously, but true is that this DEMO is better than any actualization
I love everything about this game with one exception - lack of players to interact with. I like the idea of throwing people into some crazy corner of the universe by themselves, but I would also like a way to share my individual experiences and discoveries with a friend or two if I wanted to. It would be fun to have a spawn as party function with only four players allowed in... I could share my discoveries with my friends firsthand that way. I feel like it wouldn't break the game and it would ad to the experience for those that like to share their fun with a few good buddies.

Does anyone know what this game is actually about though? The concept is great and I love space exploration but is it going to have a main story or objective? I know he mentioned we are all trying to get to the centre of the galaxy but if you can instantly visit any planet I see no real goal. Unless its purely online driven like EVE etc.
Apparently this showing at E3 was not running on a PS4, it was running on a PC with a PS4 controller because at the moment, that's the only version that is running properly. This game has been very difficult to get running on the PS4 and optimisation on the PC has been an uphill struggle. The devs recently cancelled a hands-off demo at GameCity in the UK which is probably related to technical issues. I know they've announced a release date of June 2016 but I fully expect that to be delayed.
I'm just hoping this game will do some easy access to play with friends, because it would be a fucking nightmare to find some random planet just so we can meet together at it, one of us dies and then re-do that over and over again.
I'm starting a new Galactic Douche Empire my goal is to eliminate every single life force we come across except the children we'll make them ice cream instead.. The flavor will be there parents of course so please join me in my goal to make the Ultimate Douche Empire and take over No Man's Sky
Mr. K33P it 1θθ Except that exploring and discovering everything is quite literally impossible with the amount of procedurally generated content in the game. You'll never be able to see everything-- honestly, probably not even a fraction of everything. Its that big.
People obviously don't understand the main apeal of this game, its not meant to be a fighting focused game, its meant to be exploritive, if thats not your cup of tea, fine, but my god, look at what the game is accomplishing, even if you say " Its not as big as they're saying." does that mean you can find it all, half the milky way would be to big for one man. Also I don't want to hear " Your just focusing on positives, there's problems." no duh, I'm not saying don't look for negatives, but don't thinking of dumb negatives like "The combats to generic." look at minecraft, people worship that game, and it has such a developed combat system don't it.a good argument would be " The game might get boring fast." or, " It could have more to do, like building, and crafting." do i think people will up, and stop playing after awhile from boredom, not everyone, but some, but these arguments are a lot better than " Uh shitty combat in a non combat focused game, it sucks."
The thing about exploration is there needs to be something to be found. It turns out, there wasn't, and you need not visit every planet to explore it all, because one planet is much like the next.
It's not full of choices like they say. It's pretty simple I'd say. You mine. Craft and fly. And you repeat that 200 times until you get to ty e center. Then what?
You mean like instant warp? Scanning and getting multiple points of interest? Uploading to beacons?Sentinel Walkers roaming on planets? Scanning to discover creatures? A fully destructible environment? Because I don't see anything like that in the game I'm playing...
There were no factions and space battles in the game on launch. dunno if they've patched it in since. plus loads of other crap. It's well documented how much bs this guy fed us before NMS launched.
If this game succeeds imagine what it would mean. I bet the AAA companies are already finding ways to implement this into loads of genres. The never ending GTA, destiny with space combat, battlefield with planet sized maps with massive player counts... This game will bring a lot for the gaming industry
+Nathaniel Rimblebottom it could inspire devs to explore more procedural generation techniques. Imagine if bungie could implement this into destiny, it's not long before we start seeing procedural generation and use of space in more games.
Dream Horizon Uncharted 4 Until Dawn Ratchet and Clank Uncharted Collection Final Fantasy Remake Last Guardian Shemnue 3 (don't know if I spelled it right) Street Fighter V Disney Infinity 3.0 Microsoft: Halo 5 Rise of Tomb Raider Gears Collection Gears 4 Sea of Thieves (possibly a indie game)
for people who don't understand how the game can be this big and not take up a ton of disc space: The game does not store any of the information about the planets, solar systems, etc on the disc, instead it stores the mathmatical equations that create the planet and all the other info that is needed (like sounds). the whole universe is a big math equation that has a starting point, presumably the center of the galaxy. when you go to a point in the universe it brings up that math equation based on your X, Y and Z coordinates relative to the center of the galaxy and generates the planet on the spot, once you leave the game does not have to remember what that specific planet looks like because it's just a number the game brings up. altering the planet by destroying the terrain changes the math equation but does not add to it.
They have shown basically nothing new, the graphics are the same, that planet looks almost the same as the first one we have seen... and the planets are still tiny-tiny-miniature sized :(
Well, and now Beyond is coming. A lot more than what was promised, and I've been enjoying this game since launch. Happy to see that some people learn from their mistakes.
4:15 "As luck would have it, there's no alien life.". Runs into a mess of alien life just seconds later.... Looks like you need to upgrade them there scanners chum!! Haha!

JC Rochops Who would want those? Gears is a joke and Halo is turning into the new COD, same stuff every year. Playstation had so many aweesome exclusives this year. Still PC master race (;
It was a joke hence the "(;" face. I own a PS4 and I love it (: I got it before my PC. I also play my brothers Wii U all the time. The only reason I dislike Xbox is because I hate the way the analog sticks are and Xbox doesn't have uncharted or No Man's Sky.
I dislike COD as well. I dislike gears. I dislike Halo. Why are you so butthurt? Can no one have an opinion, All 3 of those games are just recycled. Theyre doing nothing for games or the industry that is new or innovative,
This pre release build is still miles ahead of ''NEXT'' dont know what the fuck you guys are talking about, It is of course a taste in the matter, but come on. This looked so vibrant, and just interesting. I would do anything to just have this version of the game for just one day. ''Next'' changed it's textures and colors to some ugly shit, really disappointed in it.
I have my doubts concerning this game. So far every Planet looked pretty similar with little computer generated differences. And every Planet so far had life on it. Will there be Lavaplanets, Jungleplanets, Gasplanets, Waterplanets, Iceplanets, Planets with large Cities and very intelligent Aliens on it? It might be a good thing to have a large Universe but if its just generic Planets and creatures which you wont remember after a week of playing it´s pretty pointless having such a large scale imo. Imo handmade / modelled Worlds are way more appealing than having a computer doing it. So better a few hundred handmade Planets with real differences. I didn´t want to be rude, i just wanted to word my worries because it would be cool to have a good Space-Exploration-Game
Brandon Cook Do you know Space Engine? on PC. That's free, and that's bigger still. But there are other games out there like Elite Dangerous for instance.
Brandon Cook The milky way contains roughly around 300 billion stars, and about 100 or so billion planets. No man's Sky's procedurally-generated universe will contain over 18 quintillion or so planets, thousands of times more objects than our home galaxy. This is possible because the game world isn't "static" the way other games are. The world is basically "created" on the fly by the game, using complex math. Fun fact: If, upon the game's release, someone visited a new planet every second, of every day, 24/7, it would still take over 500 billion years to see them all. Think about that.
CJ Jordan Well try SE and see for yourself, zoom out as much a you can. Bigger than this game i'm not sure either way, but it's certainly bigger than most if not all of the things you've seen released on pc(or else) so far, being a game or not. Actuallly i dont even know if there is a limit to it, the info might be somewhere on the net though. But my point was that the size is absolutely not the problem. The diversity you find may be it.
Did anybody elske notice the text that appeared above the ship just as entered it? It's around 00:20 and it reads: Horizon Alpha, 21400 units - X to purchase. I looks like Horizon Alpha will be the name of that type of ship. I suppose this also means that buying ships from spacestations will be as simple as walking up to a ship at and press X.
It's really cool, but b/c there's SO MUCH choice and variety, it's ultimately meaningless... It's all just randomly generated ad infinitum. I'd rather have 100 planets that have each been carefully crafted and have their own unique aventures than this b/c I feel like after the 5th planet in No Man's Sky I'll get bored...
I agree. if this game is this huge it needs to he very alive and bustling. there should be planets like courescant from star wars where the whole planet is a city and every aspect of that city planet should be open right down to the random apartment buildings. and it needs to have full on destruction and pressurizing systems like in space engineers.
The game is about exploring a wild frontier, like a sci-fi western almost. There are scattered forms of intelligent life in tradings posts or bases, but there are no actual cities..
MrGamerman001 Because they didn't program cities into the game? A lot of planets won't even have any sort of life, and of those that do, most will be primitive and simple.
If it had what they promised it could have been really fun. But as someone on reddit said in response to why people still say they like the game even if 80/90% of the features and mechanics they got people hyped with was completely absent, as if they sold an old beta with placeholders... _"You know if you took Skyrim and removed all the towns and all the NPCs and all the dungeons and all the quests and all the flowing water and maybe 75% of the trees, you would have a very, very chill game then too (with far better graphics). It's kinda funny how when people don't have anything to do in a video game, some of them will fill in that empty space with how great it is to just walk around looking at stuff."_ Her'es the epic thread where people discuss what;s missing in NMS. If anyone thinks it's just lack of multiplayer potential it's just the tip of the ice berg. No wonder people got bored fast and felt like they were sure there was meant to be more to it, well that's because they were literally told they were. www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4y046e/wheres_the_nms_we_were_sold_on_heres_a_big_list/
I agree with some people here. He didn't toss big words to overhype a game like Microsoft and other companies do. He seemed like a fairly modest guy showing off a potentially great game. This might be a good sign
That is crazy ...... so big universe, then just go to a planet and seamlessly land on the planet from space without any loading, on a PS4 .... mindblown
If these guys can make a huge galaxy with thousands of planets that will most likely will never be discovered, with seamless space to ground and light speed travel, then why can't they make an open world Star Wars game like this with just 30 plantes?
I want all of the openness of SE to be in NMS. like you should be able to blow a hole in the hull of a ship and have air evacuate from it. when a ship crashes, I want the ship and terrain to deform and warp. those two features will make this game perfect.
I'm very happy for Sean. After this huge screw up and the gobal hate that he personally got, he still managed to stick to it and do what he loves, and him and the team have created something amazing.
I just wanna know how he was able to load in all that so fast
IT wasn't gameplay 😅
The scope of this game is ridiculous. Kudos to the devs if they pull this off.
Elite Dangerous is consuming my life! When this comes out i will literally have absolutely no social life!
Well at least I have nothing to loose :)
Just wait 'till Star Citizen
Achielles just wait until ED gets its landing expansion out ^^
Nic0maK oh god lol!
Neutrino i dont know how i fill about star citizen and the paying for ships thing. Elite and this is more than ive ever asked for
the gamr they showed here looks so amazing...
the game they gave us is... whole different thing...
and now is better than this and what was delivered initially. it has a lot of new content. i cant stop playing it. hahahah
I think this is going to be a great game. I hope they don't screw it up...
Personally I think it should be called no mans space
Evan Gibbs hmmm that's not catchy though.
teheverythingshowCA if they screw it up u can kill me, ok ?
Evan Gibbs that sounds stupid :3 any way they called it no man's sky cuz wen they play and look into the sky... THERE IS NO ONE FUCKING THERE !!!!
teheverythingshowCA I don't know... I only saw a lot of marketing until now... and that is it. For me it seens a big universe full of nothing relevant to do.
If this games lives up to the expectations it might be greatest we had in the last few years.
Sean Murray is the only person that will ever visit Planet E3

It is STILL getting better. If you enjoy the exploration side of minecraft but feel like you've seen everything, try No Man's Sky. There are so many things to see and do and it's all so beautiful. The base building is pretty good too and there's quite a bit of customization. It's less grindy to get materials than minecraft, too.
So this is pretty much all of what the new SW Battlefront doesn't have. Space battles...
Evan Gibbs the space battles in this game look like a joke lol
Conner Neal Idk they're pretty damn cool in my opinion.
Conner Neal well maybe this is a game that ISN'T based around shooting. how about that.
xavier k. haberle and that's fine, but why add something if it's going to be lackluster?
Evan Gibbs thats in the past... Maybe add on lol
And I thought the Just Cause 2 map was big....
It would be a pain to find your friend in this game. "Jimmy, I'm in the 9 746th planet to the left"
5 years later waiting on another huge update "Frontiers" it never stops
He was playing No Man's Sky NEXT 3 years before it was even released
ubaidubai NEXT still isn't exactly like the trailers but its getting there
@Joy_of_oi It's undeniable NMS is never going to be like the original trailers without things like a variation overhaul, combat update etc things like this is why I don't play it often
@@Osu930 next update fingers crossed
Sean Murray looked pretty nervous I they would have gave him more time to explore. I want more of this title.
10/10 not enough water -ign
i just want third person view and meeting up with friends. and id buy this game
ask yourself how in the world this version can have better framerate, smoother and faster gameplay, better looking ui, waay less pop-in, more content, better looking planets (not littered with the same crystals, corals, pointy rocks, knowledge stones and lootcrates every 10m) and a more fluent scanning system than what was released a year later.
Because this wasn't an actual game. It was pre-rendered to make for good advertising material.
Maybe they hoped the actual game would eventually look like this, but it was all way out of their league. They should've just delayed the damn thing for another year.
Also see a comments thread in iDubbbz "7framed" 'Kickstarter crap' video.
This game looks insane honestly I can't wait to get my hands on it
I'm still thinking this is much better than today, Next generation update is much better than the final game, obviously, but true is that this DEMO is better than any actualization
I was literally just like WHOA, HOLY SHIT when he zoomed out. That's amazingly impressive.
Aphoticon when that happend, i felt a tear of joy and something hard and long poking out of my pants (:

It feels like the same presentation every time they show this game
I cant wait to play this on my pc at 120fps
I'm just hoping this game will do some easy access to play with friends, because it would be a fucking nightmare to find some random planet just so we can meet together at it, one of us dies and then re-do that over and over again.
I'm starting a new Galactic Douche Empire my goal is to eliminate every single life force we come across except the children we'll make them ice cream instead.. The flavor will be there parents of course so please join me in my goal to make the Ultimate Douche Empire and take over No Man's Sky
Sir Douchebag may I join apart of that amazing douchebaggery?
Barrbossa1111 Of course
Sir Douchebag long live Sire Douche..
Barrbossa1111 I like your spirit son you'll be my second in command
Sir Douchebag where do I sign up
Its going to take the rest of my life to fully complete this game
Mr. K33P it 1θθ Except that exploring and discovering everything is quite literally impossible with the amount of procedurally generated content in the game. You'll never be able to see everything-- honestly, probably not even a fraction of everything. Its that big.
2/10 too much space -IGN
Nathan yeah
If this is actually as big as they say it is and its as good as it looks than I will definitely buy it.
SUPERB why have I never heard of this before???
Who's coming here after launch to see how much Sean lied to everyone?
It's not full of choices like they say. It's pretty simple I'd say. You mine. Craft and fly. And you repeat that 200 times until you get to ty e center. Then what?
What did he lie about? Everything he showed in this video is in the game
I did
You mean like instant warp? Scanning and getting multiple points of interest? Uploading to beacons?Sentinel Walkers roaming on planets? Scanning to discover creatures? A fully destructible environment?
Because I don't see anything like that in the game I'm playing...
There were no factions and space battles in the game on launch. dunno if they've patched it in since. plus loads of other crap. It's well documented how much bs this guy fed us before NMS launched.
This, the Division, Fallout 4, Batman, Dishonored 2. Man Imma have even less of a life soon.
If this game succeeds imagine what it would mean. I bet the AAA companies are already finding ways to implement this into loads of genres. The never ending GTA, destiny with space combat, battlefield with planet sized maps with massive player counts... This game will bring a lot for the gaming industry
+Mike Barr you could use a hybrid system, or a complex enough procedural system could make an interesting map.
+Nathaniel Rimblebottom I have it and like it, not to mention it will popularise procedural generation
+Nathaniel Rimblebottom it could inspire devs to explore more procedural generation techniques. Imagine if bungie could implement this into destiny, it's not long before we start seeing procedural generation and use of space in more games.
Lol, they were just trying to copy star wars and attract the destiny crowd
Toby Hendricks are you sure now?😂😂😂lol
This is going to be a revolutionary game. Hopefully, it doesn't fall flat on its face like Destiny did.

Sea of Thieves (possibly a indie game)
Bruce Wayne dude 5 or 6 of those sony games u named arent exclusive..
Trout 98 Name them
for people who don't understand how the game can be this big and not take up a ton of disc space:
The game does not store any of the information about the planets, solar systems, etc on the disc, instead it stores the mathmatical equations that create the planet and all the other info that is needed (like sounds). the whole universe is a big math equation that has a starting point, presumably the center of the galaxy. when you go to a point in the universe it brings up that math equation based on your X, Y and Z coordinates relative to the center of the galaxy and generates the planet on the spot, once you leave the game does not have to remember what that specific planet looks like because it's just a number the game brings up. altering the planet by destroying the terrain changes the math equation but does not add to it.
Haha!
bliglum XD
bliglum Lmao
+bliglum They were synthetics which wiped out the alien life which made them. O_O!
It'd be awesome to have Star Wars type battles in this game.
us Xbox folks are just sitting here watching videos asking "WHY US?!"
ikr, sucks for them
+Martin Harvancik Well, you have Sea of Thieves. I mean, it's not set in space, but hey, you get something.
U already have elite dangerous :P
Toby Hendricks Elite Dangerous is on both consoles fyi
+Ethan Pham oh, didn't know that... that's great
You can tell that this presentation wasn't rehearsed.
He says he didn't rehearse in the video because he wants to show a real experience.
Wow you PlayStation fans are lucky this year by getting DLC early for black ops 3 and have this great game I wish I could play on my Xbox have fun guys!
Dont forget that you guys get Gears of War and Halo 5 which are both great!
JC Rochops yea those games are pretty good.
JC Rochops Who would want those? Gears is a joke and Halo is turning into the new COD, same stuff every year. Playstation had so many aweesome exclusives this year. Still PC master race (;
Theyre doing nothing for games or the industry that is new or innovative,
This brought me to tears
This pre release build is still miles ahead of ''NEXT'' dont know what the fuck you guys are talking about, It is of course a taste in the matter, but come on. This looked so vibrant, and just interesting. I would do anything to just have this version of the game for just one day. ''Next'' changed it's textures and colors to some ugly shit, really disappointed in it.
Spore without having to evolve from a literal pile of sludge, I like.
I like spore, but I like this too
7.5 out of 10 IGN
Too much space.
5:06 Look at all of those packs of animals running around you still don't see in the Origins update
This game looks amazing, but the limited draw distance kills it for me. I guess I'll wait for the PC version.
No fucking way that size is true
Brandon Cook Do you know Space Engine? on PC. That's free, and that's bigger still. But there are other games out there like Elite Dangerous for instance.
Super Sand Legend Lmao!
Nic0maK Far bigger than what?
Center of the galaxy XDDD its just restarts the game
Yes. Yes, I am ready
+Jurassic King see. that's fucked up. how are you going to have trillions of planets and not a single one have a city?
It's kinda funny how when people don't have anything to do in a video game, some of them will fill in that empty space with how great it is to just walk around looking at stuff."_
Her'es the epic thread where people discuss what;s missing in NMS. If anyone thinks it's just lack of multiplayer potential it's just the tip of the ice berg. No wonder people got bored fast and felt like they were sure there was meant to be more to it, well that's because they were literally told they were. www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4y046e/wheres_the_nms_we_were_sold_on_heres_a_big_list/

lol it crashed so hard.
I agree with some people here. He didn't toss big words to overhype a game like Microsoft and other companies do. He seemed like a fairly modest guy showing off a potentially great game. This might be a good sign

So glad this is coming to PC the same day as PS4 does.

JJL Thanks for the info (:
zeubersandvitch np mate just keep in mind that those are minimum no recommend info yet
I hope this comes out on PC. By the looks of it, it is a PS4 exclusive right now right?
Mr_Venbeer For now yes. PC next year for sure.
Mr_Venbeer they just announced that it's coming out for pc at the same time
BeatleNerd
True! Ignore what I said.
Awesome! Thanks guys :D
Mr_Venbeer its gonna come out for PC but just dont wanna wait that long :( so sad.
I like how one of the most hyped games only got like 3 mins of gameplay. Totally not concerning or anything.
That is crazy ...... so big universe, then just go to a planet and seamlessly land on the planet from space without any loading, on a PS4 .... mindblown
***** cant wait for it to come to pc (:
If these guys can make a huge galaxy with thousands of planets that will most likely will never be discovered, with seamless space to ground and light speed travel, then why can't they make an open world Star Wars game like this with just 30 plantes?
I want all of the openness of SE to be in NMS. like you should be able to blow a hole in the hull of a ship and have air evacuate from it. when a ship crashes, I want the ship and terrain to deform and warp. those two features will make this game perfect.
There is loads i want to show you...
Thank you....
