Sean seems like an awesome guy. You can clearly tell that he loves making games, and that he's not doing it simply for the money. I think you guys shouldn't worry bout this game not meeting the expectations.
WhatInTheButt Never happened with anyone else huh. News to me. I'm sure you're right, this guy is the most amazing person ever. That's always super obvious after watching a few videos of him talking about the game he'll eventually be trying to sell you. Patron Saint Sean, he shall hence forth be known. Cool to see how fanboys are made. I thought they hatched from eggs.
Well Played Every time something looks cool or exciting there always has to be some cynical douche to come in to rain on peoples parade. What happened did someone hurt you and now you can't get excited about anything. If these guys can deliver on what they have shown then sign me up as a No Mans Sky fanboy.
Everyone wants money out of what game they create no matter if it's a small company or a big company or if the mind behind the game is some Saint or just someone that loves games. No one wants to create something that will be worthless now do they? BUT, sometimes there are rare cases when money comes second and creating an awesome, unique game that people are going to like and play comes first. Is this one of those rare cases? We'll have to wait and see, hopefully it is... Why do people judge things before they even experience them?Or ATLEAST see others experience them...
Oh boy this game has so much weight on its shoulders. I really applauded these devs for their ambition. To think their game seems way more interesting then the big budget Triple A titles. May the best of luck come to these fellows. Such humble d guys that have made a great future for themselves. Best of luck to you all
I'm more excited for this game than I am for Destiny and I was SUPER fucking excited for Destiny. This game looks amazing and I hope they can pull it off.
+Ned Stark Not long to wait now. It also makes a change for sony to get an exclusive (console wise) that is promising that microsoft get to miss out on :)
This is why i love indie games. These guys just made something so good press didn't think it was real. And in the interview you can just tell they're just normal guys, i love it. My best wishes to the team i want no mans sky to be a top hitter for 2014 :-)
Gamespot's videos have been looking very polished lately! Props to the production team for bringing us amazing content like this in a really nice manner.
You've gotta love Sean Murray - he's like a walking picture of why I loved games back then in Amiga times, when companies were far smaller (thus vision driven) and far less income focused/close minded. I'm so happy that I lived to see the impact indies had on my beloved (but depressingly stagnant and overblown IMHO) industry. Can't wait for the game!
Yes. Thank you Gamespot. Thank you for giving this new game the publicity it deserves. Buncha real, well minded developers on that team. Can't wait to play this one.
How i love the passion these guys have..i dont even care if its a bad game at the end of it all, these guys managed to make this game feel like a reality...and remained humble and passionate while doing this and for that reason alone i respect them.
***** No she got a thumbs up because she is a real smart gamer, who understands and knows when a good game is presented to her, not your typical COD shoot kill GRAPHICS , appreciate this game, because its a real work of the art! :)
You almost always see some of Nintendo's items in these developer videos. a Mario picture, a Zelda figurine, Donkey Kong t-shirt, etc... It's cool to see how Nintendo has helped influence this generation of developers.
I really love the amount of passion and genuine humanity of the studio and the game, the entire story is inspiring and the game is mind blowing, this is the first time that, not only do i want the game, i feel some sort of... Thing that I really want these guys to do well. This feels real and heartfelt, not cold and corporate
I'm really impressed how good GS production is now. This is the thin line between TV and internet. I'm not into space games but I love sandboxes and astronomy, I will definitely check this game even just to travel thru space
***** great vid doc you guys. i fekt the emotion and sadness of the dev team and felt like i was there experiencing what they must have felt when releasing the gameplay video on E3. Kudos. Hope this game gets made and those guys get their well deserved praise from gamers around the world.
This game is by far has my most hype, what I'd love to see is them exploring natural selection on planets eg. A rocky planet having animals camouflaged as rocks or having rocky spikes on there back, it would really add a lot of realism.
Collecting and planting seeds actually sounds like a great concept, but there would have to be a way for it not to be totally abused.. Maybe in a potential sequel? Finding a barren planet with the correct atmosphere to said plant, plant some seeds, then maybe revisit one day to find a little oasis. Neat.
Everyone's reaction is pretty much: "is this actually for real?" Because its just, i don't know how to put it... imagine discovering a similar species on a different planet, that level of excitement. Plus, everything anyone could ever want in a video game. People are speechless because it is so extraordinary and phenomenal. If this game gets cancelled, i am suing the game industry.
Misleading title; this is the story of the development, not the game. I loved the video but hoped I got to hear about any narrative/lore elements of the game.
It looks so awesome, really looking forward to the next video. I love exploration and getting immersed in game worlds, space, discovery and such so I'm very excited for NMS.
Danny, I'm very excited for this game and this video series is awesome. I just logged on to like each of these videos. Keep up the great work as usual :)
I'm not expecting this game will have star citizen's depth when it released. but I'll buy it anyway. Because these guys are amazing, achieved something great and deserve support. I want them to have enough resources for post developement of this crazy ass game. After all, they deserve that more than electronic arts.
I love these devs they while most studios develop there way to the top these guys did it all at once ( +they're Irish I'm Irish aswell) good luck guys I can't wait for the game
also another interesting question, in that minecraft, that I never played, there the save file can be really huge say if you explore area for say month of playing the save file can became 1GB huge, and its just blocky world, so in case of that realistic game "No Man's Sky", how huge will be save file ? say after month of exploiration ? 1TB ? 10TB ?
For people who think this game is all hype; I have a good feeling you are wrong. Procedural generation of planets\star systems and etc isnt exactly new. What makes this game so unique is that you can also LAND on planets(there is only one game I know of that you can SEAMLESSLY land on planets, i wont talk about that game.). There is a program you can download that will give you a taste of what NMS is trying to accomplish. It is called SPACE ENGINE. It is free. The graphics are beautiful and you can explorer any star systems(among billions of stars). It is ALL PROCEDURAL and every planet I have come across is absolutely unique. You can LAND on planets too. I have played countless hours and the ENGINE still surprises me on what can be discovered. I have never got bored of exploring planets on that program because it was always something different and unique to look at. Granted, the program does not feature an ecosystem. The planets that have life do not have trees you can go up to, caves you can explore, animals to discover, oceans to swim in, or resources to mine. You have a surface to land on and ground textures...thats it. Yet, the program offers hours and hours of entertainment. The program doesn't even have space combat and obviously no economy. It's just an ENGINE. However, the program is successful because it offers procedural generation and limitless exploration. I can only imagine if SPACE ENGINE had the same features that NMS is promising. Also, I am pretty sure that the 3d modeling and texture Assets is greater in NMS than in Space Engine. So with knowing all of this, I can safely say this game will be praise worthy on release.
I wish that you could explore the galaxy with your friend and have a ship that requires 2 man to operate. That would be awesome. I am excited to see how this game turns out and evolves.
also, that developer said, that no data stored on HDD so if you say burn down tree or destroy a side of a mountain and fly away and come back that mean those objects will be regenerated ?
Is that Jeff Winger at 8:22? By the way, I think this will be an absolutely amazing game, and I fell in love with Hello Games! Those guys are amazing :)

Yeah...cause a game not meeting the expectations of the hype machine isn't something that happens all the time.
Well Played It happens with the big corporations that care only about the money.

You must love this guy. He's passionate but also bit shy just like me.
I'm from the future ... 2023 to be exact. I can confirm that this game is awesome! Many substantial and free updates have worked wonders here.

***** SIKE. DATS DA WRONG NUMBA
I agree Kylee, this game will inspire developers years to come.
Damn! You're every where! I saw you comment on a pokemon video as well
This is what I always imagined game development would be like....not big business, not huge teams, just some friends making something special.
***** No she got a thumbs up because she is a real smart gamer, who understands and knows when a good game is presented to her, not your typical COD shoot kill GRAPHICS , appreciate this game, because its a real work of the art! :)

Coming first on PS4. Woohoo!!!!
Coming to an inferior gaming platform first, what are you celebrating for?
Why Mad? PS4 is better than XBOX ONE
Jayson Macedo HA xbox 1 is just a box that support tv and netflix ps4 is supporting gaming like xbox 1 should do aswell.
Jayson Macedo Nobody likes a douchebag...
WAIT so it is coming to xbox 1?
Why did Sean Murray leave Criterion? Because he was burned out! ;)
and tired to be a tool, Sean Murray PWN :-)
Gamespot does not get enough credit for the work they do!
Agree.
I really love the amount of passion and genuine humanity of the studio and the game, the entire story is inspiring and the game is mind blowing, this is the first time that, not only do i want the game, i feel some sort of... Thing that I really want these guys to do well. This feels real and heartfelt, not cold and corporate
Lol I love how humble the guy is at the beginning. Haven't watched it all yet so dunno if it goes away
Cannot wait for this game
I'm really impressed how good GS production is now. This is the thin line between TV and internet.
I'm not into space games but I love sandboxes and astronomy, I will definitely check this game even just to travel thru space
All I know is that once that game's out, I'll be one Enterprise mod away from a never leaving my computer because of endless RP
You guys should really make a indie game the movie like documentary, this is good shit.
Sean Murray seems like such a nice, down to earth person :) I really do wish him well with No man's sky!
Dark droney track used at 2:12 is ''Richard Lacy / Richard Kimmings - Ice Houses'' to all those that seemed to want to know.
***** great vid doc you guys. i fekt the emotion and sadness of the dev team and felt like i was there experiencing what they must have felt when releasing the gameplay video on E3. Kudos. Hope this game gets made and those guys get their well deserved praise from gamers around the world.
Wow can't wait for this amazing game. The possibilities are endless, the potential of being a one of a kind game is really high. Good job Hello Games!
Guys make sure this game will be fucking big... Just Make it something we will remember as one of the best... Just do good
I'm super impress on how much work a few people put in to a game
This game is by far has my most hype, what I'd love to see is them exploring natural selection on planets eg. A rocky planet having animals camouflaged as rocks or having rocky spikes on there back, it would really add a lot of realism.
given the sheer size of the universe their probably is.
Neat.
I... I think I love you, Hello Games.
Danny is the reason i still come in to Gamespot, right on, great video, love The Point.
What am acing story of a small but epic journey to make something so creative and imaginative. Can't wait to support this game. Will definitely get it
Nice Final Destination reference. I love those movies

Sean Murray is an instantly likeable and impressive person. No Man's Sky looks like a revelation in computer games - I really hope it is.
After two years here we connect past with today!
Everyone's reaction is pretty much: "is this actually for real?"

People are speechless because it is so extraordinary and phenomenal.

I LOVE this kind of work when i am older i am starting my own co. And making great games like these guys!
i love the idea that 4 guys can make this from nothing
These guys are my new design and development heroes, all the best luck with the final stages guys!!!!
00:01 Lol. I thought this were the graphics. :D
Misleading title; this is the story of the development, not the game. I loved the video but hoped I got to hear about any narrative/lore elements of the game.
+prosthesis_ Thanks for saying that, i stopped watching 3 mins in.
+prosthesis_ i agree but the story is still nice, there's a separate video going into more depth on the company story
What the hell man I felt like i was watching a 90s documentary, somebody h3h3 this haha
It looks so awesome, really looking forward to the next video.
I love exploration and getting immersed in game worlds, space, discovery and such so I'm very excited for NMS.
There must be thousands and thousands of us who've had the dreams these incredible people are creating a video game from.
This is why the gaming industry USED to be like. This seems to be the start of something beautiful.
Danny, I'm very excited for this game and this video series is awesome. I just logged on to like each of these videos. Keep up the great work as usual :)
This game honestly got to me... I literally dream of space exploration now.
I'm not sure if I like the personality of the Ark: Survival Evolved devs or these guys! I love them both!
So much RP in a single game! LOVE IT!
this game looks great, and the makers are great people, who agrees?
this is an amazing series. and this game is going to truly be special.
I'm not expecting this game will have star citizen's depth when it released. but I'll buy it anyway. Because these guys are amazing, achieved something great and deserve support. I want them to have enough resources for post developement of this crazy ass game. After all, they deserve that more than electronic arts.
It is a really inspiring story. I just hope they can put up with all the pressure.

Great story. I wish these guys the best and i hope they can pull it off. I am excited to find out what is at the center of the universe.
Just one word... Amazing!!!
I do hope it is a success! I like seeing how much effort these guys and other put into their games!
This is the history of No Man's Sky, of its creation. Not its story. And here I thought I would find out finally if there IS a story in this game! ^^
+Mikeztarp it's a story about a guy who looks for other players he will never find because it is "just that big" /rollseyes.
I came here for the thumbnail........ Yessssss.......
YESSS AN ACTUAL EXPLAINED GAMEPLAY IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a great story. You just couldn't replicate that team. Not with all the money in the world.
The UK make the best games
what`s that slow-jazz/chillout tune one minute into the vid!? I SO want that.. with no interuptions and voices lol. Sounds so smooth.. :)
did you find it? damn I want it too!!!
I am only online with this mic-less device, BUT, if you have soundhound or shazam, maybe it will recognize the song? :)
shazam doesn't recognize it :-(
soundhound doesn`t either :/ The quest for jazz shall continue! lol :p
dammit, i requested an answer in gamespot forums ... still waiting
Part 2 cmon Gamespot on youtube!
also another interesting question,
in that minecraft, that I never played,
there the save file can be really
huge say if you explore area for
say month of playing the save file can became
1GB huge, and its just blocky world,
so in case of that realistic game
"No Man's Sky", how huge will be
save file ? say after month of
exploiration ? 1TB ? 10TB ?
i'm willing to bet there was a second reason for sean wanting to leave EA
Just preordered the limited edition, I've been waiting for this game since it first premiered on the VGAs.
I'm soo sorry for you that you preordered this :(
I'm so sorry for your loss

hello games, PLEASE dont disappoint me
This game is a 1000 on my 1-10 scale of excitement !
Great video. Can't wait for this game!
It looks amazing. If it comes out on PC, I'll definitely buy it.
***** I hope it comes to both Pc and Xbox one as well
The mods...I can't wait.

No it doesn't come out on shitbox one
***** everyone is in the same galaxy, so any mods you put in the game would effect everyone else so this is probably the only game where modding is a terrible idea.
Hyped i wanna find a planet with orange grass that looks tropical with blue trees
I want to find a planet with a purple space and a tropical island with purple trees :-)
Looks like one of the best games ever. 🎮
Epic. Just Epic.
Honestly, Uncle Shredder is glad that so many Space Exploration games have been coming out recently. With this genre, you can't have two games the same.
Just try to compare Rodina and FTL. Uncle Shredder fucking dares you.
Thank fucking GOD they didnt give up after that flood. This is going to be the best game, I swear.
Sean Murray = Irish Todd Howard.
