I want all of what is hyped because this could be the game that truly demonstrates video games as an art form. What you see will never been seen by anyone else and may never be seen again. THAT is art. Not the only kind of art, but i digress
Watch Dogs had what we already had, GTA V. Titanfall had what we already had, CS, CoD, BF. No Man's Sky? Most players are on console, alot of them played CoD and Bf, resulting in Titanfall being boring. Alot of em' have GTA, making Watch Dogs boring. But what rivals with No Man's Sky? Nothing. Maybe Minecraft, but on console, nothing. I think this one will be a good game.
***** Unreal Tournament.. wasn't quite on the same level, but you could jump off wall and preform acrobatics (and faster than CS). I suppose you could include Quake rocket jumping too. Tribes, also fast paced jet pack shooter. All they did was include the verticality and maneuverability to CoD shooter and BF armored gameplay (with a touch of Hawken and Mechwarrior). Not saying Titanfall was a bad game, but OP has a point.
This is one of those games that I have been waiting for. The second I saw a video of this game I was hooked. I want to see more and more of this game. Looks amazing. To some people it may be boring walking around planets. To me its more than that. I can't explain it but I'm glad to finally see a game like this come out.
Meanwhile I'll be watching some beast from afar to study. Apparently we are both nature lovers so good luck to you in travels while I probably get stepped on or eaten alive
agreed i just want to visit all of these planets and take it all in i hope there are planet like Venus with volcanoes lava rivers, lakes, streams, and seas
This is going to change the face of gaming. This is the kind of epic sci-fi video game that I've been wanting. I was hoping that Destiny was going to deliver that, but we all know how that turned out.
+Mic Townsend Yeah. I had so much hope for Destiny, but this game isn't made by a big money sucking corporation. And they're just a small quaint sweet group of nerds who love the same things that I (And probably many others) love.
if they add in a similar building system like starbound where you could bring rare materials to your own planet and build on your own. that would be cool
David White Quick question about Starbound. It's been a REALLY long time since I last played. Have they finally added more diverse planets? Sure it had billions, quadrillions of planets, but the types of planets were very little (by types I mean like, tentacle planet, lava planet, forest planet, etc...). So after so long, are there finally more types of planets and are planets of the same type more diverse?
David White No Man's Sky is not obviously a game where you want to build your own space station or home and dedicate you self into one single spot that covers +M0000000000000000.1% of this universe. Because players will actually explore this universe and slowly be master over the parts they have explored. It's a universe that you are pushed to explore and move throughout and find new better weapon, new better space ship, find unique upgrading parts for your weapon or space ship. It looks more like that you haven't still grasped how amazingly big this universe of No Man's Sky actually is. And how big the potential this huge universe has to players to slowly transfer them to be masters of their part of this universe and actually be gods over those players that never leave their planet or position for exploring.
Harry Halme you seemed to be pretty pumped for this game. XD i can picture seeing players like you traveling to the center of the galaxy as quickly as possible. as for me i just want to take it slow and enjoy everything i come across. maybe build a huge house or something. and set up a shop for players that come to my planet. hypothetically speaking of coarse. :P
I see comments like "boring" or "free roam do what to want would be boring" "they're not describing the things we want to hear prior release" then you're boring. in a sense, you're imiting yourself to what your imagination could be in a game that doesn't limit it, "you" it's up to you an your imagination to decide how much "fun" you'll have in this game
Felhek Lehrian funny story, Sean worked for EA. Well, a strictly independent company that got bought by EA. He knows what it's like to be screwed by EA first hand. And that's the reason HG is an indie studio.
I remember a game similar to this one PC a long long long time ago called star control, or alpha control something like that but anyways it felt like it was infinity places to go when you can meet different alien race to go to war with them or team up with it was awesome. You could run out of gas in space and be stranded, You explore all kinda different world to take samples, Colonize planets, different crew Members of any species all of that. A lot of people say that the first Mass Effect was supposed to be the successor to that game But to me Mass Effect just didn't have that infinity feel to it. I can't wait to try this game out it looks pretty cool so far.
I love how passionate the dev team is about their game. They aren't just shitting out a game to make some money like a lot of companies have been doing lately. It seems they are really sincere about giving a gamer an awesome experience. From what i could gather their #1 goal is they just want people to be awe inspired by the game and to really enjoy their experience. Unlike a game like call of duty, where they keep trying to convince you how much bigger and better the new game is just so you buy it and don't realize it's the same as the last.
Somehow this reminds me of the final stage of Spore... Back then it was really amazing and wonderous. I hope that this game will bring that kind of experience to a completely new level.
One of the best indie game to ever be created. I like where this game is going, I hope they pull aspects from Minecraft, Starbound, and other infinite world games that people enjoy
I remember Robotech Crystal Dreams for N64 was supposed to have real time space exploration...stating that it would take you 30 days to travel from one end of the game to another..
Hey I just wanted to mention one thing: I think this games was inspired by SPORE and I would even say that in Spore the Game World was actually already infinite when you got to the stadium of rockets and explore the universe. No mans sky brings is to another level. IMHO I would like to credit to SPORE PS: The music in the background is even similar to the music of SPORE Greets
Animals look the same, behave is : Spawn, move, run away from player, predators might chase smaller ones, after player feed them, they crap Mordite, that is all. Nothing even close what they showed in E3 trailer :D All planets has same gravity ;)
I plan on staying on my home planet and then staying on one planet forever until someone comes and just like.. thinking how amazing and huge the universe is and what could be out there..
Oh God this may be the game that will never get old. I love how they want us to discover things for ourselves, it's a risky play but I'm really looking forward to it.
this game is, seriously, too good to be true. i remember watching E3 live and blown away by that and still i won't let myself to believe that it's even possible. i really hope its as great as they claim but we'll see when it releases
When he was talking about Minecraft andhow you discover stuff it made total sense to me. I got tired of Minecraft after there wasn't much more to explore with my friends. But when I was discovering different things in the game, it was amazing. :) I can't wait for this game to come out!
This is so awesome. I first watched this video about 2 years ago. And I just watched it again today. I got the same great vibes and the same good feelings I got after watching it for the first time as I got after watching it just now. That is So awesome. Good job GameSpot on this No Mans Sky series. And My literal genuine dream game is less than a month away from launch. Sweeeeeeeeet. Right On HelloGames :D
These guys at HelloGames are just inspiring, it's so amazing what they achieved with such a small time starting from pretty much nothing, to creating one of the greatest games in gaming history PS: does anyone know where we can see those gifs made by their drones? must been funny and amazing to watch
As far as anyone can see,It's very unlikely,as the team (of about 10 people) are focusing on PS4,then possibly the PC. They've said nothing beyond that.
I hope it comes to Xbox, if it never does that will give me more of a reason to get a ps4, I've already got the Xbox one, might as well get the ps4 eventually
One thing for sure, No Man's Sky is going to be freaking awesome. Furthermore, these guys at Hello Games really look like they enjoy what they're creating and I can't say that for every developer.
This game marks a major turning point in gaming and game development. Even if you are not planning on buying/playing this game, you should be excited to be alive in such an era. Amazing things are happening. As a game developer myself, I sure think so... :)
I`m glad they have finally mentioned Elite series as their influence. I always hated how they (well more so the media really) were claiming they were doing something completely new when it has been done to a certain extent (fully generated galaxy with seamless transitions between 1:1 sized planets) over 20 years ago in Frontier: Elite II. Now when the credit is given where it was due I instantly feel better about those guys. This is a great time for space sim fans
This game has been done on the PC such as Evochron, X series, and so on. I understand that console lacks the space sim genre and I for one glad that they are finally getting one. I am planning on getting it on the PS4 but also for PC. If you want the definitive experience for this type of genre, you will need VR glasses or multiple monitors. Playing it on just one HDTV is almost criminal.
If this works well, they can sell the rights to their procedural code engine thing to other developers and potentially revolutionize game design. That is probably too high a hope, but the possibility of it excites me greatly.
I just hope there's a way to mark a planet that you've visited so that once you go exploring again, you can easily find it again. This game looks absolutely amazing though, and I can not wait!
They could make a hell of a lot of money by releasing an engine based around the code they used to make the universe. Not only would that be a great move for them as a company, but it could also give a *massive* boost to the game development industry. Just think of the possibilities. Instead of spending hours hand-crafting hundreds of creatures, just make a couple of dozen and some variants of each and then you've got potentially (something that would seem like) thousands of creatures! This could be a literal game changer if it meets up to it's hype.
Nice idea I want to explore now and then and "study" the life even the study of dead samples. On that note I hope you can get a mother ship of sorts so I can have a zoo :D
Then you can, it seems like you will have to figure out your settlement, space exploration, and all when you play in this huge universe which they have said that could take anyone from days to years to explore
It's amazing to think that every single players journey in this game is going to be nearly 100% unique to that player. "Landing on a planet and being the first person ever to see it"
This game looks amazing, but i hope its not just filled with copies of the same thing over and over with no new things to discover. THis game could be really good or really boring.
Am mentally retared because you have no clue what you are talking about? It wont copy itself over again. The game is generated by a mathematical algorithm.
I simply can not wait for this game. Its been long over due that the gaming world broke new ground and this is the strongest candidate for such a change...
This game is going to be perfect. A bold statement for me to make because it's so ambitious for consoles, but I think because I say that so rarely that somehow means it'll be true? I surely hope so. Can't wait to play this game. Every video gets me more excited and the developers are doing a fantastic thing by keeping a lid on it.
This game requires land vehicles for sure,at least some of them if not many, that would add variety to the modes of transportation. And some awesome submarines to explore the depth of the oceans. How about discovering giant squids and huge ocean life.have a lot of expectations from this game, waiting for it to be released
If your ever going to do a Q&A with the creators of no mans sky,"would you kindly" ask them two questions for me? Will there be space walking (floating in space near your ship) and will there also be realistic orbits around the sun? Because the planets always seem to close, so in relation to our galaxy or solar system, there to close. Hopefully you got my reference to "would you kindly" thank you :)
Just the fact that you can get into your ship and fly to a planet that NOONE else has ever been to or seen, not even the developers who MADE THE GAME, is what boggles my mind. We've all had conversations with our friends where we've discussed our favorite parts of certain video games. For instance, you could be talking about a boss fight in mario, or discussing your favorite map in call of duty, or battlefield, Or your favorite moment in The Last of Us. But imagine having a conversation with your friends about No Man's Sky. NONE of you have had the same experience. You've all been to different planets that have characteristics that are completely different to another planet that your friend is describing. You're all playing the same game, but at the same time, you're not. That is crazy to think about!
In other videos they said that they are thinking about having a traditional multi-player mode. But like Minecraft that will be a future update further on down the line. For now the creator said it will be a rare treat to meet another player. This is more about just how ridiculously vast a galaxy or universe is. As well as how many things you can do in that universe. You can be a pirate, a bounty hunter, explorer or a combination of those things and more. I just hope(knock on wood) that is doesn't suffer from glitches or lag issues.
I am so glad this is a ps4 game. I would've literally been heartbroken if they talked about it and showed footage of it and been like this game is exclusively for pc as so many cool games are. I'm so excited to play this next year. If it gets negative feedback I will be super sad because this game looks like it could be one of the greatest games ever.
Really have to commend these guys for what they're doing with this game. Unconventional, leaving things to the players to work out and innovating, not following the other devs to see what they can make the most money on. Can't wait hopefully its as good as it looks :)
In another video they told us that we could be whatever we want in this game, so maybe add terraforming to the game I think it'll be an awesome idea. searching for uninhabitable plantes and terraform them to make then habitable and then after a certain amount of time life will start spreading and growing in the planet I think it'll be awesome and add even more content to the game. Just an idea :P
I really like Sean Murray and I'm really looking 4ward to this game.. Original game at last... And from a small developer and from a small developers that had some problems but didn't give up... Well done.. Well done indeed.
I feel like if this game gets bad scores it will be because of server issues and data not being transmitted properly. But if that doesn't happen it'll be great :D
My question to the guys making this game. I understand your idea of there is no set guideline. I can do anything, I can be a bounty hunter, fight A.I, explore planets, level up etc. How wide is this range of things to do? can I possibly build a robot? could I populate a planet? destroy all life on a planet? If I wanted to create a military of some sort is that possible? will there be cities on planets or is it all just vegetation and water? can I build and destroy cities? If someone comes across a planet I discovered and built up can they come in with an army and take over? Im really really really excited for this game. I might buy a PS4 if it doesnt come out on PC as well at the same time
I can't tell you how hard I lost it when no man's sky showed up at e3 2014 one of my most anticipated games of the 8th generation exclusive to my console of choice the ps4 it was the only thing at e3 that made me scream I'm so hyped for this game you don't even know :-)
To the Dev Team... Question: Can i attack another players Planet, Drive him out and claim it for myself? Can i be a dictator and rule multiple planets while building my star fleet?
This game looks more and more like it won't just be an awesome game in itself, but could serve as a major turning point in the evolution in game design and implementation. Minecraft was great don't get me wrong, but despite its success and versatility, the game as an engine was relatively limited. I'm really hoping they're able to live up to expectation. + as well as Josh Parnell's - Limit Theory (another indie game that deserves attention - if you're into space scifi and procedural tech).
Non linear games where you decide how to play can be so addictive i can see where there going with this i myself enjoy minecraft survival playing on my lonesome
im hoping this is going to be like speciel scripted events in random parts in space or a planet like a quest or mission and it would be really cool if you can create your own spaceship
Consoles have minecraft. It's popular on xbox.
Whilst minecraft and no mans sky have got exploration in them I think they're two completely different games.

I know, I got it on Xbox, I just got confused while writing, but you know what I mean.
*****
Unreal Tournament.. wasn't quite on the same level, but you could jump off wall and preform acrobatics (and faster than CS). I suppose you could include Quake rocket jumping too. Tribes, also fast paced jet pack shooter.
All they did was include the verticality and maneuverability to CoD shooter and BF armored gameplay (with a touch of Hawken and Mechwarrior).

ikr, people are way into the hype..."infinite" please.

That bit about the virtual gif drones... damn. That's impressive, they're outsourcing parts of QA to computers!
+chiffmonkey lol
I love how passionate Sean Murray is about this game! It makes me so much more excited listening to him talk about it!
This video series has bumped this game to my number one spot, on my most anticipated games list. Thank you Gamespot.
same
Same
This is going to change the face of gaming. This is the kind of epic sci-fi video game that I've been wanting. I was hoping that Destiny was going to deliver that, but we all know how that turned out.
+Mic Townsend Yeah. I had so much hope for Destiny, but this game isn't made by a big money sucking corporation. And they're just a small quaint sweet group of nerds who love the same things that I (And probably many others) love.
exactly can't wait
I have such huge expectations but even if this game doesn't make them, it will still be amazing and it isn't being made by a money-sucking company
catchommmmm reality train
lol sike
if they add in a similar building system like starbound where you could bring rare materials to your own planet and build on your own. that would be cool
typo.. build your own home.
4444kik
yeah the harder planets you get to the more different the background and lighting of the planets

I see comments like "boring" or "free roam do what to want would be boring" "they're not describing the things we want to hear prior release"
then you're boring. in a sense, you're imiting yourself to what your imagination could be in a game that doesn't limit it, "you"
it's up to you an your imagination to decide how much "fun" you'll have in this game
If they are cod fanboys hand them the gun and see how fast they die XD
***** They said they were going to update the game weekly for its entire lifespan I think
Im so happy ubisoft didn't make this
MrKapaHDalll or EAgames...
Felhek Lehrian funny story, Sean worked for EA. Well, a strictly independent company that got bought by EA. He knows what it's like to be screwed by EA first hand. And that's the reason HG is an indie studio.

EAgames, screwing everything.
+NaZZy72 then you would see a planet full of assasins lol
joseph eapen Or climbing towers.

Really hope this lives up to the hype. This is the type of game I have dreamed about since I was a wee lad.
Join the club :D
I would buy a PS4 just to play this game
It's supposedly coming for PC. It's only a PS4 timed exclusive
I don't have a good PC :/
me too D:
Me xb1 (but you might hate it)
And for naughty dog
this game is so ambitious that if it succeeds it will usher in a new era of open world gaming. To say that im excited is an extreme understatement.
The artistic approach really had me hooked. I hope I can adventure with friends in this!
You can tell Shaun's been seriously hard at work non stop from his appearance in the first part
Yeah, and he uses a little crack to stay awake
that wasnt Sean in the first part
This with VR would be crazy immersive
well

Wow. I think I'm in love.
This coming from someone who rarely plays video games, too.
They seem so happy just talking about the game. It looks awesome. I can't wait
"people are clever-er than what game designers think"
That right there nails the current generation of video games
I feel like theyre making a game for people to play and enjoy it, not as much for money like most companies
Seriously, all the other games that are huge are going to be blown away by no mans sky
surprise ... the game is shit.
Yeah I know. Just tried to refund it after around eleven hours and I don't think it'll go through. Feels bad man
Amazing how far visual art and in-game animation has become. All in High-Definition too. Great job!
One of the best indie game to ever be created.
I like where this game is going, I hope they pull aspects from Minecraft, Starbound, and other infinite world games that people enjoy
Minecraft isnt infinite dammit
IM Wercs You must mean the console version? Because the PC version is infinite.
I remember Robotech Crystal Dreams for N64 was supposed to have real time space exploration...stating that it would take you 30 days to travel from one end of the game to another..
No, all pc minecraft worlds are 60 000 000*60 000 000*255
They have never been infinite
IM Wercs They have always been infinite on PC. Not always, beyond alpha though
Hey I just wanted to mention one thing:
I think this games was inspired by SPORE and I would even say that in Spore the Game World was actually already infinite when you got to the stadium of rockets and explore the universe.
No mans sky brings is to another level.
IMHO I would like to credit to SPORE
PS: The music in the background is even similar to the music of SPORE
Greets
ok so...Animals looks diferent everywhere.. but will they react differently aswell?
RANDOM HEUEHUHEUHUEHUEHUEHEUHE
Most likeley not too different, since it they are programmed AI
It'll depend on the planet. The planets have different gravity's, atmosphere etc list goes on.
Animals look the same, behave is : Spawn, move, run away from player, predators might chase smaller ones, after player feed them, they crap Mordite, that is all. Nothing even close what they showed in E3 trailer :D All planets has same gravity ;)
This game looks awesome and I think only ten people worked on it, Amazing.
This is going to be good
Partly
@@deno202 It is that good now, especially with mods.
Ok imagine this,
Smoking weed
Get really really high
Put on Oculus Rift
Put on Headset
Play this game....
AWESOME !
I don't think you'd be able to return to reality after that.
Duuudeeeeeeeee! Like a fucking shpaceship and shit..
Excellent idea!
dude...wheres my spaceship ?
Do NOT forget the dorritos. Oh shiiit, gotta do that
Looks beautiful. I never been as excited for a game ever.
I plan on staying on my home planet and then staying on one planet forever until someone comes and just like.. thinking how amazing and huge the universe is and what could be out there..
This is something unique and unbelievable. It looks beautiful and the color-scheme (some might oppose) is fantastic!!
Looking forward to it!!
Oh God this may be the game that will never get old.

I'm very excited for no man sky
Let's hope it's like they say...
Doesn't it feel so good to just believe and dream ...
*even if deep down you know you expected so much of so much games that dissapointed you*
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
ayyy you got fucked
Holy mother they effectively had to do frontier exploration on a virtual world. And one of their own making. That's amazing. That's a thing of beauty
When he was talking about Minecraft andhow you discover stuff it made total sense to me. I got tired of Minecraft after there wasn't much more to explore with my friends.
But when I was discovering different things in the game, it was amazing. :) I can't wait for this game to come out!
Those game developers seem like really nice, down-to earth people, and their game looks amazing. I think the games' gonna turn out to be awesome.
It takes a certain type of gamer to appreciate what they have created here, i cant wait for this game.

If Ubisoft made this game instead of Hello Games, it would be downgraded down to 100 planets..
+Frisson With 2 km sq of play space each.
Julien Paradis looool
+Julien Paradis yeah with each dlc it will be bigger 😂
lololol if Ubisoft made it they might have given 20% of what they promised.
I`m glad they have finally mentioned Elite series as their influence.

I just hope there's a way to mark a planet that you've visited so that once you go exploring again, you can easily find it again.
This game looks absolutely amazing though, and I can not wait!
This is the game I've been waiting for all my life, I hope it turns out good.
What if I just want to stay on the planet and populate it?
Like TJ Laser!
gallopingLake6 fuck that guy
Nice idea I want to explore now and then and "study" the life even the study of dead samples. On that note I hope you can get a mother ship of sorts so I can have a zoo :D
Then you can, it seems like you will have to figure out your settlement, space exploration, and all when you play in this huge universe which they have said that could take anyone from days to years to explore
*****
It's amazing to think that every single players journey in this game is going to be nearly 100% unique to that player. "Landing on a planet and being the first person ever to see it"
This game looks amazing, but i hope its not just filled with copies of the same thing over and over with no new things to discover. THis game could be really good or really boring.
You clearly dont knwo what you are talking about
Walder Frey cant have copies
Am mentally retared because you have no clue what you are talking about? It wont copy itself over again. The game is generated by a mathematical algorithm.
lalle5000 we shall see when the game come out
Starbound and no man sky are made in completly different ways. You cant really compare those two.
I see GameSpot trying something new with vidoc stuff like Polygon, good job guys.
This is going to be looked back on as a HUGE milestone.
I really REALLY hope this game comes out on PC !!
This game is my childhood (and adulthood) dream. I might actually buy it if it ever comes out on PC.
playing No Man's Sky with a VR headset would be beyond amazing!
This is going to be a Game Changer
this aged well
@@FyreNano lmao you're telling me. Smh
6:40 that animals legs made me laugh when I saw them move.
I cannot wait to get my hands on this. It sounds like the next big step in gaming.
it looks amazing, that much i can say for sure, but id like an aspect of creation, not just exploration
Holy crap, this is mind blowing! Where the hell does one store an entire universe?! oO
what I would like to know is : what happens if you die in the game ? how do you spawn ? where ? how does it affect your inventory ?
Very nice product, with the music choice. Nice video.
the music here is amazing..
Please have a 3 person mode and have customization cause I want my player to be unique and if I meet another player I don't want us looking the same
Hope its got a FOV slider as well
In other videos they said that they are thinking about having a traditional multi-player mode.
Once again, great video! I can't wait to experience this game.
These guys are, strait up, my No. 1 heroes... I hope it all comes together for them ^_^
Really have to commend these guys for what they're doing with this game.
No, game got bad scores because they promised heaven, but gave us swamp :D
wonder and magic are real. it's cool to see that these guys know that. it's even cooler that they found a way to share it with other people.
Will we be able to craft? mine resources and trade? build bases and cities?
My question to the guys making this game. I understand your idea of there is no set guideline. I can do anything, I can be a bounty hunter, fight A.I, explore planets, level up etc. How wide is this range of things to do?
can I possibly build a robot?
could I populate a planet?
destroy all life on a planet?
If I wanted to create a military of some sort is that possible?
will there be cities on planets or is it all just vegetation and water?
can I build and destroy cities?
If someone comes across a planet I discovered and built up can they come in with an army and take over?
Im really really really excited for this game. I might buy a PS4 if it doesnt come out on PC as well at the same time
It is a very bold project. I hope they are able to pull it off.
Sssssssoooooooooo you've essentially built the foundation of the matrix. Bravo my friends, Bravo.
I can't tell you how hard I lost it when no man's sky showed up at e3 2014 one of my most anticipated games of the 8th generation exclusive to my console of choice the ps4 it was the only thing at e3 that made me scream I'm so hyped for this game you don't even know :-)
Great series of videos, thanks for these.
To the Dev Team...
Question:
Can i attack another players Planet, Drive him out and claim it for myself?
Wow these game developers behaves so calm and nice :D
Where are them trees at?! I NEED TO KNOW!! THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!
im hoping this is going to be like speciel scripted events in random parts in space or a planet like a quest or mission and it would be really cool if you can create your own spaceship
Scripting is probably slim to none the spaceship design part not very likely but if so I'm going to be in one weird muthatruka real quik
First day of pre order I will buy this game. Seems awesome!
