Really? Sweet!!! I’ll have to drop by some time. And also, good for them. Probably the only time I’ve heard of a restaurant that appeared on Hell’s Kitchen stay open to this day! Hell yah!
I wouldn't be surprised she the reason why Luigi has aged so quickly and lost his passion for his business. Women like Grace will drive you to your grave quickly with their antics. She reminds me of my older sister.
Grace is one of the most pathetic people I have ever seen. She is eager to flip everyone off but as soon as she gets a tiny bit of criticism towards herself, she breaks down because she "can't take it anymore." Just mind-boggling.
As of this day, Luigi's is still open but not in the old location, in 2017 they moved to a new location still in Anaheim. The location seen in the video is closed. Luigi's is still in hands of Luigi and Tony and receiving positive reviews. It went up for sale in 2023 but its not clear if it has been sold as of yet. Grace has been mentioned several times as a sweet lady to the customers
Holy shit.... Sweet old lady?? Either she had a bang on the head or she finally got diagnosed and treated for some sort of personality disorder but good for her either way I guess.
@Ballah 666 Italians sound like a bunch of INFJ-T folk imho, but your ppl let it manifest and turn ugly just like Grace and Luigi lol. Italians are so emotional and passionate that they speak in two voices at once-the other is their hands
Sometimes people don't realise they're speaking louder than people normally do. I once thought I was only trying to sound clearer and be more vocal in a debate competition. A video recording of myself proved me wrong. It sounded more like I was yelling and it was quite awkward to watch. My mother, when she's upset or angry at either or my father, yells her complaints and frustrations at us. And I once told her calmly ("Calmly", as a result of discovering how annoyingly loud I was years ago) that she doesn't need to yell, and at the same volume, she said to me "I'M NOT YELLING.."
Fortunately, they're at least some people who got a chill mind, even with all the chaos going on And those are most of the times waiters That's why I respect waiters alot, as a cook
Its sad that he didn't see that she was a problem. She could've been making him sick as well. She was very emotionally abusive, even to diners. I couldn't believe how she was allowed to behave like a toddler the whole time. She screamed about every little thing. She lacks accountability and tried to manipulate everyone by screaming and crying like a baby. Omg!!!
Please, don't give out these comments and then act as if you know what you're talking about. I'm a southern Italian, we talk a bit loudly but definitely not like that woman, it's obvious that the woman in the video is extremely stressed to be able to have such mood swings. Please educate yourself before putting these comments next time.
@Ballah 666 Ok I understand that, however you should be intelligent enough (and I dont mean to sound rude, im sorry if it does sound rude)to understand that just because you met some type of people from a specific country who act in a certain way, it doesnt necessarily mean that all the country is like that. I hope that makes sense. Either way I can understand your side. Unfortunately many people make this mistake, to assume that a community is represented by some ,as you said "rotten apples", whether it be ethnicity , religion etc. Thank you for your reply I hope you will have a nice day ❤
@Ballah 666 that's because northern italy (south tyrol) belonged to austria. They speak out accent and dialect and have the same mindsets and behaviours still. I actually really hate the southerns in italy. They always scream when they are talking normally. It's annoying and disrespectful in my opinion. Ofc they grew up like that but it's annoying if you go to eat somewhere and want to talk with your family but all you hear are the italians yelling at each other having a normal conversation
"Please Gordon Ramsay, my restaurant is dying, help me, what do I need to do?" "Well, you need to change." "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF!" basically every episode
Literally, I never understood this?? Why do they invite him to their restaurant only to cuss him out and tell him he doesn't know what he's saying when he's a FAMOUS, CHEF????
@@cherryshoda4910 I don´t know if it´s scripted, so the people are saying what the camera team told them to say, or it´s the problem why the restaurants don´t work in the first place. All the restaurants invite them after they got into great debt. If they would understand they have to change in the first place, the restaurant would work.
@@TheIhplodur thousands of restaurants apply for this they just send teams to eat and meet owners and pick the craziest ones. It's all real. They cheat with the editing a bunch but its not acting or scripted
When grace gets confronted about her behaviour she’s the first to say she can’t handle it. But happily dishes out pure abuse to her staff and customers, she’s an actual sociopath.
@WeAreNotYourKind1990 Sociopaths often experience depression, stress, and anxiety. They can have triggers that in turn make them portray certain behaviours. The definition of a Sociopath is a person with a personality disorder that manifests itself through extreme antisocial attitudes and behaviours. Sure she’ll cry and have a tantrum when she wants to;her emotions are a choice. And clearly it usually works, she gets away with talking to people disrespectfully and showing aggression.
I feel bad for Tony. He actually seems like he's trying. I think the "laziness" is him trying to distract himself from his brother and sister in law's abuse...
He was the only one who slipped back into his old problems during the big service though. I think he might have been the biggest contributor to their problems, since the root of the problems tend to creep back in during the comeback service. Usually it's the food quality or chaos of the kitchen. Here it was his laziness. Luigi almost snapped but kept it together once Tony started pulling his own weight. I get the feeling this was almost a repeat of their past problems.
I love how the chef is always dismissive of Gordon when he first arrives and starts criticizing the chef's food. However, as soon as they start watching him cook the new recipes you can see they are in awe and really appreciate his skills.
This is likely borderline personality disorder. MY ex was exactly just like that. 0-100 instantly at the flip of a switch. Unable to accept any feedback. Unable to self reflect. Believes everybody is out to get her. Attacks people relentlessly until they finally snap back so she can be the victim. etc etc.
@@jensendkmg7209 Respectfully, you have no right to claim she has a mental illness based off an episode in a show, not only is that disrespectful to people who have that mental illness but it's disrespectful towards her

@@meeepmeeeep And its not your job to be their white night. I didn't "encounter" a person. I was abused, violently and emotionally for years by this "crappy" person. And they acted EXACTLY like that. Not an invitation for you to try to defend someone you've never met, nor minimize the impact of someone who is the victim of abuse.
Grace is possibly one of the most horrid human beings I've seen. The fact that she's willing to give up on everything just because she heard criticisms is crazy.
Imagine how much someone has to hate themselves to get to that point. I wouldn't wanna be her therapist, but boy, could she use one. I do feel sorry for her -and everyone who has to deal with her.
Quite Logic when you think about it : She's doing service, probably at a high intensity (since the food comes out so fast) and she's seeing Tony not doing much, and since they have financial problems, it anger her more and more, so at some point, she exploded, and it makes clients leave, so more financial problems, so more anger and frustration, so more explosions....
Love that Tony knows how to get Luigi back in the kitchen. Luigi says he was just taking a break but you could tell he had no intention of getting back in there until his brother came and gave him a boost. That’s a true sibling for you.
Then after Tony was slacking and Luigi kept from loosing his cool, Tony said thank you chef to his brother as like a nod to him. Keep the wife out of there and theyd probably have been fine.
Gordon is famous for yelling but he can't hold a candle to the 'lovely wife'. Gordon is not only an amazing chef, he has proven to be an excellent therapist.
My mom says she gets lots of cases like that working in a mental health hospital. Unfortunately Grace, like other names including "Serenity", tend to end up the opposite of their name.
Grace is a grown woman by the way. Just figured that out after looking it up, I was totally convinced she was a toddler with how big of a tantrum she threw over nothing.
@@Khazandar I mean, I can say things about my own country sure, but it's still lumping them all into one group unfairly. I used 'prejudice' to be kind, but really you're edging to racism to say all Italians are genetically prone to throw tempter tantrums like this one lady. I'd hate to categorize one group like that... There are kind and rational people all over the globe, as much as there are cruel and annoying people, no matter the country
This was the most successful kitchen Knightmare the restaurant is still going in 2021 with 4.4 stars out of 5 Gordon did a really good job on that one.
Probably one of the most successful restaurants of the series. Its still open and going strong. They closed the original Anaheim restaurant, and relocated to a new place in Fullerton.
He's great bc he understands ppl when they get emotional but will NOT tolerate stupidity. He's realistic and emotionally intelligent. And it's sexy lol
He has been trained and worked his way up to his position. Unfortunately shouty lady is married to owner and has been elevated to manager. Without working up or formal training.
Initially: I had to turn the volume down on the speaker after turning the vid volume down to minimal just to watch; After: They had such an incredible chef. All he needed was for the others not to sabotage his motivation and spirit. It looked like the food was as dead as he felt inside, but once the others started helping, he was revived with help from Gordon regarding recipes. Truly inspirational stuff.
I was thinking the same thing. Tony just seems like he’s chilling, I’m not all the way through but he seems super reasonable. And he has that stereotypical lovable Italian dude vibe. Edit: aw, he’s even trying to encourage his brother when he knows he’s upset.
Apparently they’re still open in 2021 with a 4.4 star review, they relocated t the restaurant but kept going strong. One of the only restaurants on KN who stuck true to Gordon’s advice and just never let their standards drop
But they moved right? Becos the old buildings owned by the father were sold due to family dispute. I bet luigi and tony r fighting again. Most likely money.
At the beginning, Tony is made out to be a very lazy, argumentative person. But while he may still be lazy, he is pretty damn reasonable and genuinely seems like he knows what the problems are, like the beginning scene with him saying she said "Fuck you" and then her flipping out basically summarises it perfectly.
can't blame him honestly. I doubt anyone would listen to him even if he would yell back or try harder. I guess i would have already quit if it wasnt his familys restaurant
Tbf, while I don't agree with Grace's carrying on in the slightest, I do get her frustration that her husband is taking all the stresses on while Tony just chills. It was good to see him try hard at the end though!
Tony is the only one that actually has the attitude traits to work a restaurant Calm Listens to complaints Knows when to admit he's wrong And one of the few owners that is actually not in denial on this show
I know a lot of the comments here are very negative but I have to say that this is one of Kitchen Nightmares biggest success stories in the US. This restaurant is STILL OPEN (the episode was in 2011), has had very positive reviews, and has even continued to renovate as the years went by. Congrats team!
Not that surprised tbh. Clearly the people involved could cook good bc they'd done it before. The problem was all family drama which I reckon having an outside party there helped resolved. Good for them getting their act together.
Oh thats amazing. When I saw their dad and their mom crying I literally broke in tears. You can tell the love their parents have for them. So glad they're still going strong and finally working well together as a family.
Grace is easily the most toxic person who’s ever been on this show. Instigates fights between her husband and his brother. She verbally abuses Tony, their staff, and customers. As soon as anyone calls her out, she melts down in a sympathy fit.
She is absolutely horrid. As soon as it's pointed out that she is the villain, she cries and paints herself as the victim for sympathy. Just horrible all the way around.
Grace has never been silenced before. Not being able to screech at her accusers and silence them is obviously very foreign to her. I know a manager who is rarely silenced by people, also. Being the loudest in the room doesn't make you the most right, either.
@@Heavyisthecrown-f7q because narcissists are so destructive and people are often blind to it. Narcissists are made, not born, and in this age of social media and desire to “go viral”, we’re going to see an uptick in narcissism in young people.
Grace seems so emotionally manipulative. She starts yelling and playing victim and then throws her arms around Luigi like a child needing comfort, pretending it's everyone's else fault... And then the next moment she's laughing and acting as if she is the bigger person for overcoming their attacks.
@@Mldy96 Bipolar must mean something completely different in the US. In my country the bipolar episodes needs to last for days/weeks/months, not minutes/hours lol she does have a severe personality or mood disorder though... idk how they live with her... Id quit on the first day haha
@@Koselill I'm nowhere near that half of the planet myself. Bipolarity can vary from person to person regardless if they are type 1 or 2 - some can experience "mixed episodes" wherein their mood varies within the same day. My own bipolar mother had a lot of those in the past following seasonal patterns, mainly in late autumn and early winter.
@@Mldy96 I think youre talking about borderline personality disorder because with that the person can have unexpected moodswings many times in a day and strong emotional reactions. With Bipolar disorder, manic hypomanic or depressive episodes last from weeks to months.
@@el5001 There are lots of overlaps between mental disorders, while there are traits often typically associated to certain disorders, it does not necessarily mean it's unique to it. As I wrote, even bipolar people can experience so-called mixed episodes. The reason I went with bipolar instead of borderline is the fact that she seems completely unaware of her actions and behaviours, whereas borderline people, even if they may be emotionally manipulative, are prone to have awareness of these and not in complete denial.
Why is nobody talking about how low-key wholesome this episode is. The dad's message to the fam, Luigi regaining his passion, tony becoming more active, GRACE.
@@literalidiotiguess5688 and during the whe episode he was afraid to let his father down by failing the restaurant and that's why it was a good move to let his parents send a video message. it was so emotional and you could see the passion in both Luigi and Tony. One of my favourite episodes for sure
I’ve got a lot of respect for the staff in this episode. A lot of the times with these kind of situations, it’s a case of no one giving a fuck. Chef doesn’t care, food is bad, kitchen is filthy, everyone’s only showing up for a paycheck, etc. Most of the time restaurants come onto the show because they’re heavily in debt and want an easy way out. Here, you can tell Luigi genuinely and desperately wants the restaurant to succeed mainly because of his personal relation to it. You can look at him and Grace as being explosive control freaks but they’re clearly very passionate people and it’s heartwarming to know they fixed their issues. Glad to know they’re still open and going strong
Tony in the introduction: The laziest mann in a family of hardworking people Tony after watching: The most sane persson in a restaurant populated of Boomers and a Karen that rivals Amy . Update: Normally I don't do these cliche "Thanks for the Likes" edits, but what the hell guys. 2.3k Lieks over a simple observation.
Tony seems like he gets easily distracted and then forgets what he was doing before. Can't really call that lazy, more like absent-minded. Somewhat at least.
Update on the restaurant if someone needed: The restaurant is still open and reviews on yelp are almost close to 5 starts. In past years they have changed their location, but their business seems to be running fine. Surely, one of the restaurant who listened to Chef Ramsay's advice and survived. As they say, everything is well when it ends well. :)
Thank you for that update. It’s great to hear they’re still going. Especially with covid. Truely listening and putting the hard work in, change bad habits and relationships are not easy things. My greatest respect to everyone that has contributed to them being open till now.
The problem of this restaurant is not a bunch of clowns running a restaurant, it's pros in business losing the motivation. Key difference: they are pros. Boost them backto what they have been is what Mr. Ramsay did, and he succeeded, the restaurant survived.
I don’t think Grace is genuinely a bad person. She might of have had a bad childhood or traumatic experiences and never developed self worth. I love how Tony always balances out his brothers well-being over any sense of pride or ego. I‘m glad it ended good.
yeah sure, and based on your comment you're vengeful and believe you're a moral paragon. When really probably you just live a sad life and would prefer to make yourself feel better by wishing others harm despite signs of personal growth in the show.
Just learned this Restaurant is still open in a new location over a decade later still owned by Luigi and Grace who are apparently very sweet people irl. So glad this chaotic story had such a happy ending, truly the peak of Kitchen Nightmares and I bet Gordon is super proud.
Very surprised that Grace is now a nice person. Perhaps the show was an eye-opener for her seeing how she behaved and what others must think of her? Sometimes watching yourself in third person is all it takes for perspective and mindset to change.
Scene 1: The Chef's wife screaming to customers to F off Scene 2: The Chef looking at the books crying that the restaurant isn't doing too well. Classic!
The cut scenes to the customers listening intently to the yelling and screaming in the kitchen brought me back to my favorite mexicali place in town. Recently the highlight of our weekend was coming in for some amazing bean dip, grilled skirt steak, and grilled tilapia cooked to perfection. But the best part? We got to enjoy our meal along with the sound of the chef in the kitchen singing his lungs out to his favorite songs in Spanish. It was so endearing and gave the restaurant such an easygoing positive vibe, all of the customers were grinning from ear to ear with us.
There's a right type of "lazy", and it's the one that looks for efficiency. Tony seems like the guy who just needs a small kick to get into gear, and then he's really efficient, and productive... whereas the REST of the family was just in straight up denial when facing the truth. I say this, because Tony basically reminds me of my own lazy ass.
That reminds me of some business owners saying it always pays off to give the most menial tasks nobody is looking for to the laziest employee in the shop, because they'll always find the best way to do it with the least amount of effort possible. Told a story about how he used to have a car shop and being the admin person, he would have to do the inventory of nuts, bolts and screws. It always took a full day or two of counting. The shop grew, got new employees, and one was particularly lazy. Come the time to do inventory, he decided to give the job to the lazy guy. He weighted an empty tray. Weighted a single bolt. Weighted a tray full of bolts. Repeat 3 times. Inventory done in 2 hours so that he could quickly go back to "not working" instead of "working on it all day" (despite it being a very low effort task)
Even if he was lazy, it wasn't what destroyed the restaurant. Like, I don't care if I saw an employee standing around and watching television in the dining room, but I do care if the food is inedible and the owner's wife comes out of nowhere to verbally abuse me when I politely complained about it.
Tony maybe lazy but he's respecting Chef Ramsay and he's even comforting his big brother when he had a meltdown. I kinda feel bad for him because both of his brother and sister-in-law keep bullying him by saying he's lazy. Probably the guy has stressed out for a lot of working and the facts he keeps arguing with both of them.
I thought the same thing and I wasn't actually watching the screen (but had my headphones on) when it came on, and I'm like "how the hell did they get a recording of his father?!"🤣🤣
I am an ex waitress and I have worked for failing restaurants and cafeterias..... LOVE Gordon for this series, everything he points out is 100% true! Many owners have bigger ego than a talent, let alone managing a whole business.....
Nino would never yell at customers that way. Instead he would show customers pictures of himself cleaning to prove to customers how clean his restaurant is.
I’m only 10 minutes in and I’m legit shaking from the way that lady is screaming. That would traumatize me if I went to a restaurant and someone screamed at me like that or near me
Culture difference. Italians tend to yell a lot. Deep down it comes from loving and caring, though it is not efficient way to solve these kind of issues.
I think the diners were picked before hand for the show and given instructions to send food back if they didnt like it. Most diners would never send food back. They would just eat and not come back. Its too confrontational to send the food back and ask for a replacement.
@@Question2 The diners were for sure told to do that. Most people know there's a high chance that the chefs will mess with the food or just make the same mistake again.
@@Question2I actually got kicked out of a restaurant once for sending something back. No wonder people don’t like to do it. Of course, the person I was dining with, on a date with, was welcome to stay.
@@LadyAmethyst70 Yea and here, most food places wouldn't cook another meal to replace yours, unless it was a restaurant and they had mixed up your order. If you didnt like the food, tough. Imagine if you tried sending food back at some place like McDonalds or KFC lol.
I've only sent back food one time and that's because the chicken wings were so unbelievably salty they were not edible. Thankfully they sent us a new plate that was very good 😊
Man, the brother seems like such an honest guy. Ramsay is right, wonder why they're close to same age yet one has gray hair and the other looks 25. Poor guy, he takes all this abuse from his family saying he is the problem but are too blind to see real picture! Yet he stays there, cuz its his family. a good guy
I love Gordon Ramsey. He is very passionate about cooking and loves helping struggling resturants like this one. The chef was arrogant and couldn't take an ounce of criticism from anyone. And Grace is a screaming banshey when feeling provoked. Neither of them take criticism well at all and need to humble themselves.

Thank you for your reply
I hope you will have a nice day ❤
@Ballah 666 ok
@Ballah 666 that's because northern italy (south tyrol) belonged to austria. They speak out accent and dialect and have the same mindsets and behaviours still. @WeAreNotYourKind1990 Sociopaths often experience depression, stress, and anxiety. They can have triggers that in turn make them portray certain behaviours.

I don't care how lazy Tony is. The much greater crime is a staff yelling "Fuck you!" at the top her lungs at a customer.
Tony seems like he's already given up but just stays because it's their family's business.
Grace needs some serious help. That woman is out of her damn mind and should be on medication to control those ridiculous outbursts.
for real, this shit aint normal. she need help
Nuttier than a fruitcake….definitely needs help….
Pretty damn sure she has bpd and pretty sure her husband is well aware of it.
She's Italian. That's not sick. It's just the southern temper
@@juannaym8488 that’s more than just Italian temper…..
25:11 i cant take it anyyyyyymorreaf
Your comment appeared JUST as she yelled that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Righttttt
I actually thought their dad died by their reaction to seeing him again, but turns out he's just in Italy LMAO
He was sick of their shit too 💀
same, I thought that too lol
Hahha same
Ye he had to get as far away from grace as he could
I thought the same thing and I wasn't actually watching the screen (but had my headphones on) when it came on, and I'm like "how the hell did they get a recording of his father?!"🤣🤣
When people say Amy was the craziest owner, I think of this woman...
Nahhhh Amy was also insane lmaooooo. They've been great friends probably
Don’t forget CeCe. She was a real gem. 🤣😂✌️
yeah, those three would be besties @@louskunt9798
Can you imagine if Grace and Amy opened a restaurant together? They would just cancel each other out and morph into a black hole!
Difference being....Grace listened to Ramsay and came around, unlike the bat shit crazy Amy.
I am an ex waitress and I have worked for failing restaurants and cafeterias..... LOVE Gordon for this series, everything he points out is 100% true! Many owners have bigger ego than a talent, let alone managing a whole business.....
Every failing business has a failing owner haha
Are you married to a tall white guy?
@@Mogamishu 😂
they all blamed Tony and he was the only sane person there trying to get things done professionally… glad they were able to come together
Nino would never yell at customers that way. Instead he would show customers pictures of himself cleaning to prove to customers how clean his restaurant is.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💔
Nino is way more powerful than these bozos
HAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAA
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well...because
IT's NINOOOOOOOOO 😝😝😝
I’m only 10 minutes in and I’m legit shaking from the way that lady is screaming. That would traumatize me if I went to a restaurant and someone screamed at me like that or near me
Lmao you're shaking over stranger??? Are you OKAY
She seems to have anger issues
Culture difference. Italians tend to yell a lot. Deep down it comes from loving and caring, though it is not efficient way to solve these kind of issues.
I bet you love and adore tall white guys.
@@Fr4gg3r2 that's not an Italian thing. It's a bitch thing.
The one brother being so chilled out is a coping mechanism in reaction to the other brother and his wife being lunatics
i dont even think luigi is that insane. mans just broken. prob stuck in a narcissistic relationship
i say maybe like grace isnt one. xD
i'm genuinely rooting for tony here cuz grace is literally screaming the whole restuarant down 😭
Luigi: Never in 30 years has anyone complained about my foodm
Five minutes later: Everyone sends their food back
I think the diners were picked before hand for the show and given instructions to send food back if they didnt like it.
Yet he stays there, cuz its his family. a good guy
I would have gotten a new family... 😂
i really thought at first that they are father and son lol
The abused one looks 25?
7:40 That woman screamed so loud that even Gordon himself got scared
Facts
Maybe he had to stop himself from laughing, because that woman is acting like the most ridiculous asshole ever.
you can see him laughing at her yelling @ 8:31 🤣
I love Gordon Ramsey. He is very passionate about cooking and loves helping struggling resturants like this one. The chef was arrogant and couldn't take an ounce of criticism from anyone. And Grace is a screaming banshey when feeling provoked. Neither of them take criticism well at all and need to humble themselves.
