I've experienced this personally. I've never been skinny, but at a BMI of 21.5 I had a very attractive face. I was often approached by strangers and given compliments about my face by people I didn't know or didn't know well when out. At a BMI of 27 I am now very much below average in appearance, my face lost all definition. I do look like a different person now that I'm overweight, and I am also treated completely differently too. People are just nicer to those that they perceive as attractive, without them even realising it I bet.
Yes that's just natural. We assign positive character traits to attractive people and treat them better than less attractive people. Nature is brutal. I'm very lean but have a bad mandible, gonial angle and ramus and skull shape in general so I will never be treated like you were treated when lean.
@@anon11 No. Having the bone structure be visible is just better looking. Unless you are on the brink of death from anorexia you will look good the leaner you are.
That’s how I am. I still cute cute face compliments even after 50 pounds gained. But when I lose weight and have an even more defined face, people are like “ holy moly dude your face is amazing” or they are too intimidated and don’t approach me or get nervous around me lol
As an Asian, most of us need to have super low body fat in order for our facial bone structures to show. On the other hand, I see a lot of Caucasians with very contoured & slim-looking faces due to prominent bone structures even when they have relatively high body fat. Hence why you see these plus-sized models with decent-looking faces even when their bodies have like... 50% body fat
A lot of plus size models are not actually plus size, at least in catalogue modeling. They use padding to fill out a midsize model usually, exactly because they want the slim face and neck region.
@@xoxofashiondiva altho bone structure plays a role genetica too. But main cause is ur diet is shit. Avoid processed food and sugar at all cost. Ur gut heatlh is also reaso why ur face looks bloated. I went from 90kg to 80kg but still had not that model shape. Due too viseral fat. Its cause i never ate veggies. I ordered a lot of vitamine supliments online b complex, c, d , omega 369 + 3 , magenium. And i ate for 1 week 1 advocado everyday. And for the first time I've noticed i got that lean face. Also listen to fat loss "sapien medicine" Certain hz frequency subliminals is used for ur brain to work
A lot of plus size models have cosmetic procedures to remove fat from their face. If they had fat faces, they might not even make it as a model. They have to fit into certain conventional beauty norms to get there
Anyone attractive who has gained weight due to injury, age, etc…. Knows how crazy different the world treats you once you gain the weight. Even if you feel confident, they perceive you differently and treat you differently in social or job interactions.
True, I fractured my femur bone back in 2022 and stayed a whole year at home, andddd......... gained about 25 pounds. Now I exercise daily, gained some muscle and lost 15 pounds. I felt the pain of being fat and didnt like it even a single bit.
Age is a huge component in this discussion, though. Most of these examples are young people. A little extra weight for older people can be helpful to reduce wrinkles. Both my mother and my aunt lost a lot of weight recently and while they feel better in general it also aged their faces like 15 years and they feel very conflicted about it.
if you've always been skinny tho it doesn't have an effect. the best anti aging strategy is actually to stay at the same skinny weight your whole life. fat loss ages your skin at any age (except when you're still growing obviously). being bigger and losing weight will always show off destroyed/stretched out connective tissue which makes the skin less tight. this is true for a 25 year old and for a 50 year old. it's a pity cause i lost that chance for life already as a chubby teen/young woman. wish someone would've told me before that the damage will be unreparable.
i don't really know enough to go super in depth, but if i recall correctly, stress negatively impacts the skin and hair, which are quite important aspects of attractiveness, and well anxiety would lead to higher levels of stress, depression could lead to lifestyle changes which would directly affect many factors of facial attractiveness, leanness as mentioned here, people with depression can tend to over or undereat, and im fairly sure insomnia or hypersomnia can affect the eye area slightly.
this is probably the GREATEST WEIGHT LOSS Video i ever watched . And it defintely motivated me to EXERCISE more, Lose Weight, Eat Healthy & Stay in Shape pretty much FOREVER
it might once they enter their 30s and while some ppl have a naturally more rounded face, even they benefit from a more defined jaw. Other than that, water retention can also be a factor that may also improve with weight loss, but is impacted by other factors as well.
yup, it's usually those with weak receded jaws / from mouth breathing and narrow dental arches and flat cheekbones. When there's no definition & shadows on the face and the chin seems attached to the neck is the worse.
You can say beauty is "only skin deep" or "in the eye of the beholder" but even if it's only subconsciously, someone's weight and attractiveness makes a significant difference in how we perceive and regard them as a person. Not by choice necessarily, but by instinct or human nature -- again, subconsciously. For better or worse, looks really do matter.
I agree. I have a bit of a theory that we reject people who are too overweight 1) for evolutionary reasons (ie not able to hunt, not healthy to procreate and care for the offspring, a body shape that doesn’t look “normal” in biological standards), but also for a psychological one: we sense there is a weakness, an incapability to govern yourself, a lack of willpower. We all have weaknesses, but for some reason obese people have “chosen” to carry theirs on the outside. Not saying it’s fair or correct, only that it may be our reaction at a subconscious level.
@@smrtfasizmu6161 Yes, because as stated, it can be interpreted as respect for keeping oneself in shape and presentable and not too weak or lazy to do so, not just about physical attraction of a sexual nature.
With some of these photos, it's not just weight loss, it's age/maturation. Showing someone when they were a teen or very young adult and then showing them years later is bound to reveal different facial results. Naturally, their face will look more mature, and that factors into attractiveness as well. Even when I was at my thinnest running track in high school, I much prefer my face now. I legit look better. I've fully grown into my face as a woman in her mid-30s and that along with maintaining a healthy body weight contributes to personal attractiveness.
I agree. I did a side by side comparison of my face in my early twenties to my face 10 yrs later in my early thirties and I look like I had cosmetic surgery! 😂😂😂 Like I look like I might be RELATED to the person in the younger pictures but it's hard to believe that actually I AM the person in the younger pictures 🤣🤣🤣 I personally feel I look waaay better now tho and there are ppl who agree I look better now but a couple said they prefer my young face self lol 🤷🏾♀️
I agree .. plus most of these photos the older age version have different trendier hairstyles, and well shaped facial hair .. both make a HUGE difference.
@@Ari-ih5un 🤔 hmmm... I'm definitely going to have to put it closer to 30... Probably in my late twenties. But it also depends on weight distribution and my current body weight. But for the most part my face is less round these days.
When I was in high school I weighed 115 pounds. I was always complimented on my facial structure. Fast forward to my 20s and i ballooned up to 170…I lost all my attractive features. I lost 20 pounds recently so I’m down to 150 now and my face looks soooooooo much better.
I sadly have been overweight since childhood and have only started to lose weight properly at 22. I feel robbed of it but seriously emphasis never let yourself go because losing weight is really difficult
I’m with you, been obese my whole life and am on a journey to lose 100lbs at 20. As difficult as it is, we have the grace of youth on our side. We’ve got this 🤞🏾
I experience hair loss too, as well as a weird menstrual pattern after losing my first 50lbs. I just think of it as part of the process and I know my body will regulate the healthier I become
Joaquin Pheonix looks more attractive after gaining more weight in my opinion, it all depends on the natural face shape of the person, people with naturally rounder facial bone structure usually look better when they have less body fat, and people with sharp defined bone structures look better when they gain more weight
I’ve always thought this, but I think this applies to the body as well. I always look my best at a low weight when I naturally have a rounder, curvier body type bc my body fat ratio is already high naturally
@@lizxu322 He looks exactly how he's supposed to look for playing a psychopath part in Jocker, but generally as a straight man I think the picture on the right looks better also because of the beard.
The BASIC bone structure and fat deposit composition in all of us is vastly different. It's from this starting point that we can begin to gain or lose BMI so as to maximize firstly, our health and secondly out perceived attractiveness to others. No one formula is applicable to all of humanity. Only basic parameters can be followed.
I lost almost 8 kg in 6 months. Controlled sugar intake, eat healthy and workout religiously, my bone structure showed up and the fat loss on my face made me even look younger. My body fat percentage now is at 8%. I love it. Now, working out and a healthy diet (paired with IF) are already part of my lifestyle.
There's a difference between a little fuller and a whole lot fat with triple chin and cheeks becoming droopy because of their weight. If a woman is morbidly obese, chances are she has no cheekbones, no jawline, no definition. Extremely fat faces don't look good on women, there's a difference between cute and obese. Just Google extremely fat faces of morbidly obese women and you'll know that it's not pretty. Ofcourse becoming underweight takes away the attractiveness too but obesity ruins attractiveness. A little bit full face like Selena Gomez looks cute.
@@StellaOrdonez669 definitely exceptions. I am 23, my face is really angular and almost androgynous, I have a very low body fat. Yet I constantly get mistaken for a 16 year old 🥲
For women, a little fat, especially after 40, fills out the face as it begins to wrinkle more deeply (hence the terrible choice, arse or face). In general, less body fat improves posture, which improves breathing, which also has an impact on the face.
Arse or face? But with the extra Lil fat that fills out the face the arse fills out as well, which is good right? 😁 or for me thats the case. The question for me is, arse + face, or flat tummy? Cant have that all 🥲
This is another wake-up call for me. I got fat very quickly when I started using my meds. Now I am developing another health problem, this one because of my weight. When I remember how beautiful I was once I had a healthy bodyweight I became teary eyed. I am now trying to educate myself on how to lose the weight in the healthy manner, to start a new healthier life.
hey, we're all in this together. I myself didn't have enough motivation to exercise and improve my diet, until i experience multiple health issues. It's ok to cry, just remember that we can do this. I'm glad that you're moving on to something better for yourself ;)
4:12 Remember that when it comes to selfies, if the focal length of the camera is relatively large and they take the picture from afar (with extended arms), it will add to the effect of changed proportions compared to if the picture was taken with a smaller focal length and with the camera lens being closer to the face. I'm not sure if this is that big of a deal in this video, but it's something to keep in mind
Well, I am the guy who is forced to take photos for friends and family. These things have a great effect. Like the further you are from the face the better it looks, if your camera is capable of zooming in without losing picture quality you can see it for yourself. This basically changes the focal length. Use a zoom lens for this or if your mobile has optical zoom you can test this out on the mobile too.
I used to be in the 140lbs when I was going into high school. I’d say it was a perfect weight for my height at the time and you could definitely see my facial structure a lot better. Then I started taking antidepressants when I was in junior year and I was nearly 210lbs by the time I graduated high school. I’m finally back to 170lbs and working back down to 140lbs after 4 years of being graduated now. When I was at my heaviest I looked like a COMPLETELY different person. My face was incredible fat looking back at photos it’s almost like I wasn’t aware of how different my body was until I started losing the weight and looked back on the photos.
Being attractive in a photo is also different from being attractive in person. Also a narrow face shape looks better with a bit more fat in my opinion.
I've been overweight most of my life, until now that I'm drastically slimming down. But I never realised how overweight I really was because my face is oval shaped and people have always found me attractive. But now that I'm slimming down, I see that my features are popping out more and I'm even developing cheekbones. Even the other areas like my neck, etc just look better. It's crazy how much weight loss can impact even your face and it's so cool to see the difference in other people who are also slimming down.
@@WinterViolet99 That's true. I feel sorry for people who haven't thought about alternatives and have just accepted that they're overweight. As long as they're in that mindset, they'll never know how their bodies are at their best. Not just in terms of physical appearance, but even in terms of functioning.
I noticed this at work. I worked at a gas station, and in the beginning I was about 8-10kg too heavy (according to my BMI) and the other girls would talk about how they got hit on. Never happened to me. Then I began working out, lost kg and suddenly it was almost a nightly occurrence. It was the only change I made.
TW: ED (Anorexia Nervosa) I went to face change while losing weight in 2015. Wanting to take care of myself, I went from a normal 50 kg for my 1.59 height to just 35 kg. THE WORST TIME OF MY LIFE. My face? No longer attractive, I looked like someone had performed a really bad facelift, oh and my skin was yellowy. My body? Equally horrifying. Obviously, aside from all the other physical complications that came with my ED: cold all the time, foggy thinking, sore in all my bones, no periods, digestive problems (when sick, during recovery and even now 7 years later, when I never had them before A.N.). What this guy says Is true. START TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF BEING VERY CONSCIOUS OF WHY ARE YOU DOING IT FOR. Believe me, I started thinking that I wanted to do something for myself, like I never did, and before I noticed I was sick (I knew about the illness, but I didn't know how it appeared or why). Now, I'm more conscious that I always had trouble with the way I saw myself, and I understood what happened to me at that time. I don't regret it tho, I learned from my experience.
@@mmymmy315 seriously? Why are you trying to push them into that trap? So what if they don’t it’s not like they promote it, they even put a trigger warning. Here's a tip, if you're trying to lean out while staying on a healthy body weight, eat alot of food and start lifting weights to build muscle. The more muscles you have the heavier you'll be which allows you to cut your body fat further down while staying at a healthy weight.
My face became prettier, softer and more feminine and youthful when I gained pregnancy weight. I'm realising now that it isn't just "pregnancy glow" but facial fat gain that improved my face.
It was pregnancy hormones too, tho for sure, not just weight gain. Same thing happened to me (and my hair got insanely thicker). It’s the hormones tho, that effect can’t be recreated just by gaining weight, unfortunately.
been losing weight recently down about 16kg and excited for the face gains, literally can’t wait to meet my jawline convinced she doesn’t exist but we’ll see :]
Congratulations. I'm on this journey too. I have 10 kgs to loose. How dd you loose 16 kgs though? My main problem is being inconsistent. I've once managed to loose a few kgs but then gained it back again. I don't eat junk food but I also don't exercise because hate it🥲 life's a mess lol

I’ve never been fat but I’ve definitely chubbed up during the pandemic, and now I have a chubby face. However the past year I’ve been slowly losing it, but now I’m really trying to apply myself as I desperately want to see change. Thank your for this video.
Same. And when i look at the photos of last year's there's like a huge change in the face. Last year i had more contours and the face had a good shape and jawline and now everything's gone and especially hate selfies as a result as it makes it look even more bigger and rounder. Trying walks and slight exercise. Hope it works
I’ve always thought that a fatter/rounder face is very attractive in women. Which is why women want mid face fillers to give a more youthful look. And buccal fat removal ages a face heavily, but also makes a face appear a bit sickly. Which is why I suspect, amongst several other reasons, East Asians look younger a lot longer. They don’t traditionally have severe definition from cheek bone to buccal.
I lost 35kg and people started treating me like a human for the first time in my life. People actually smiled or smiled back when I interact with them.
I recently lost 30 pounds and a lot of people have commented that they noticed the weight loss in my face. I agree that it was definitely the last place where fat came off but I'm glad it happened!
It’s interesting because I think that diet and facial exercises are the most important factors aside from just general weight loss. Two years ago I lost a significant amount of weight and my face actually became more bloated because of the way I did it. I think it’s also valuable to note that softer, slightly rounder faces on women are far more attractive m. At times I admittedly have looked gaunt and masculine from losing too much weight.
Agree about the softer features being better on women. I even think the girl at 0:49 is a good example, in the first pic she looks cute and healthy, in the second one she looks too thin. And yes, her face is more defined as she wanted, but now she looks like a bit like a boy.
I've had the same experience. At first I was quite thin but had a decent amount of muscle and my face was very angular. I then lost a lot of weight (at least considering the fact that I was already at a relatively low weight.) My body looked shredded and all but I had clearly lost a lot of muscle and to my surprise my face was the most bloated it's every been
@@justchilling704 did you even read my comment? I referenced a point where I lost a significant amount of weight and my face became more bloated as a consequence of poor diet.
I’ve been struggling with my weight since I was 14 y/o. As a result I developed an eating disorder and ended messing up my overall health. I’ve lost weight a few times along the way but since I was still suffering from my ED I would end up gaining that weight again. Now that I’m 19 , I’m finally recovering and after a year of recovery I’ve started to notice weight loss thanks to my new and healthy habits( thanks to my nutritionist). This is the first time I’m seeing a difference regarding my facial structure. It is enormously interesting how different a face can be due to weight gain or loss. No matter what , love yourselves and be healthy!
I was very obese when the pandemic started. All I can see is "food, food, food, and food". Glad I overcome my addiction and started working out. And yes there's a huge change in your facial features and body when you start to diet and exercise and can never be more proud of myself. The key is self-discipline and focus. That's all.
firstly, you need to take your diet in about a month or two before starting your exercise, but it just depends on how you've gained weight. Secondly, your gonna start your exercise with cardio and then so on with a complete exercise per week. I started seeing results in 9 months.
@@lorenzoreynolds2512 not much of a diet, but sticking up to your everyday meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and no snacks. And for dinner, I eat chicken salad and a warm glass of milk to keep me full. I don't eat snacks and treats (that's how disciplined I wanted to be) because once you start your cheat day, you'll never stop. Trust me, it's better to stick to your diet first before considering a cheat day. Edit: drink lots of water. Three glasses of water per meal.
I'm a server at a nice steakhouse. I lost 30 pounds and the tips and treatment from the customers are much better. Also look 10 years younger. Sad but true that people base your worth on looks.
@@Nonyah123 well i guess it really depends on the case, but usually when we r at healthy weight (not too skinny and not chubby) we tend to look younger and more attractive too
I think the importance of getting lean is to see what your underlying bone structure is, at least before you consider surgery and things of that nature. So I agree with QOVES there, and also like the message that doing it for your health is better than aesthetics because if you do lose the weight and the aesthetic gains you made aren't as striking as you anticipated then it could lead to disappointment and depression.
Its like cars when you see round fat cars they look alright but when you see a ferarri with edges Its cool i see that humans like symmetry and difine looks
Pretty sure it’s just a sign of being lean and usually (not always, don’t get in your feelings people) being lean means being healthy. So again just primitive instincts, choosing a better mate? Cuz obviously there’s a point where it’s too much. I don’t think too many people want to be able to count every rib and chest bone
Because softness/roundness are feminine traits, and sharpness/angularity are masculine traits. Most women can get away with round faces unless they're models, but men will always look bad with round faces.
I actually think I look better with a fuller face. I have an angular face and when I get too skinny, I look awkward. I have big features on a small face. I think the rule in this video doesn't apply to all faces. It mostly applies to people with naturally rounder faces.
In my case, when I had a lot of facial fat my skin was really bad (it could be also because of my unhealthy diet). I had a lot of pimples and my skin was always oily.. so I think this can also affect your attractiveness. I mean, who wouldn't want to have perfectly clear skin, right?
Same, my skin was very oily and I had a lot of breakouts when I was overweight (while eating processed food). Staying away from processed sugary stuff cleared everything up by itself. Now I almost immediately break out again after having too much packaged sweets... nice reminder to stay on track with my diet 😅
have you ever try detoxing? For acnes, I doubt if it directly associates with body fat percentage and weight gain. As far as I know, acnes have more to do with hormones/genetics, toxin, hygiene. You can try cut down added sugar, dairy, fried food (if any) in your diet to see if it's really it. But yeah, a lot of times, unhealthy diet and lifestyle do affect our hormones, which can give us both weight gain and acnes at the same time.
I had a similar problem in middle school all the way to high school. Losing weight definitely helped but I may have overdone it...now that my face lost some of it's fullness (combined with other factors 😭) I look tired and older than my actual age-
I became overweight at around 11 or 10 years old, im 25 now. Majority of my life, about 14 years I've been considered fat. Never got any attention from women and struggled with image/low self-esteem. Within the last year I lost alot of fat especially around my face and my jaw line and cheek bones are very prominent and face less rounded. Now I get compliments I never did before. Most recent came from a girl just straight up telling me, "You're very handsome, but you probably know that already". I said thanks but just thought to myself "If only you knew my story". 14 years of looking in the mirror and being displeased, it's tough for me to really see myself as attractive but I guess I am. Shout out to my parents.
I’m one of those people with an unfortunate fat distribution. All the fat goes to my face and stomach. I was also fat growing up, when I lost weight I was treated very differently than when I was overweight. People paid attention to me and wanted to talk to me. When I was fat it was like I was pretty much not even a human, ESPECIALLY to straight men.
Obesity is absolutely foul on both women and men. The fat positive movement is shameful and embarassing. Imagine an alcoholic positive movement or a no bathing positive movement. The thought is absurd, yet gluttony and laziness is seen as empowering. I'm sure you look a hundred times better after shedding extra weight.
@@dreaminez472 what does that have to do with treating people like shit for their appearance? Yes it’s healthier to not be obese but I’m not going to treat an over weight person any differently. If someone wants to be fat, that’s their choice. It has nothing to do with me.
Some lucky people have a very small narrow face structure to where they should weigh more to avoid looking gaunt and emaciated . My face is naturally rounder so I don't have that predicament loll . Another factor to consider is that your ideal weight when your younger isn't necessarily going to look as optimal as you age .
This motivates me even more for my diet. I have a relatively thin face for a man. When I put on fat, my face becomes completely oval and I don't really like myself on pictures anymore. Time to get to that 12% body fat and stay that way.
This is what I try to tell my 81-year-old mother. She's still so beautiful. She was a gorgeous teenager, a beauty in her 20s, 30s and 40s. The only time she lost her looks was when she went up to 180 pounds in her 50s. She lost the weight in her early 60s and regained her beauty. I tell her that of course she has wrinkles (who doesn't when they're 81!), but her facial shape hasn't changed, and she's still lovely. You see this with celebrities a lot. They look great when they're young, but put on fat around the face and it really (sometimes radically) changes their looks. Unfortunately for some people the opposite happens - their faces thin out. Look at Sarah Jessica Parker for example. She hasn't gained or lost a lot of weight, but her face just thinned-out as she got older. Same thing happened to me and it sucks! I looked nice in my late teens and 20s, but for some reason my face started thinning out in my 30s, despite the fact that I weighed the exact same amount.
@@Avi-tq6fd - I think for most people, having their face thin out a little looks great on them. I just wish I was in that category, lol! But I think it's harder to accomplish when you're already lean.

Though 9-10% bf may be optimal for men, it should be noted that this is quite difficult and often depressing to try and maintain. Imo 12% is a good spot to hover around without sucking all enjoyment from your life.
I don't think it has to be stressful. You don't have to eat all that junkfood, people 100k years ago didn't have any of that and it was completely fine. Intermittent fasting helps too
I'm currently learning Animation and Character Design and these videos are very helpful for me to get better at displaying the fatness of a character and all that stuff, so thanks a lot
With Chris Pratt I wasn't attracted to him when he was heavier. I was immediately attracted to him when he lost weight though. What a difference carrying weight does.
Reading the comments, many people point out, that you will look older when you lose facial fat. It's the complete opposite for me and my facial bone structure. In recent pictures I look so very much older than in pictures of last summer where I was around 15 kg lighter.
i've always been considered somewhat slim, and my face looked pretty proportionate with my body. due to health issues i was put on prednisone for a bit, and one of the side effects was a so called moonface, or bloated face. 9 months off the medicine and that puffiness, although definitely reduced, is still there, no matter how much i exercise or how much weight i loose. not only does it look disproportionate in comparison with my body but it effected my self esteem too. i can't say before i was incredibly handsome or anything, but it definitely effected whatever attractiveness i might have had. facial fat influences your overall looks incredibly much and i would've never noticed that before
But you said it..."lucky." She is lucky. Won the genetic lottery (somewhat) in that she can get fat and it still doesn't affect the attractiveness of her face. She maintains the definition. Most women her weight aren't so lucky.
I 100% confirm this... Earlier I was approached by strangers fr having an attractive face... I could clearly see the looks that I used to get... But now I gained weight.. nd my face is a bit fatty tooo... I can easily see the difference now... No more glares , no more appreciation... Sad..
i feel that i have had similar experiences regarding this :,) i used to be very skinny naturally before puberty, but then afterward i gained some weight. around 11-14 i started gaining weight normally, but i also started struggling with bulimia and starving after overeating. it's something that i still somewhat struggle with today. it messed up my metabolism and body overall. at my "peak" or when i was first very fit, i did a lot of walking to and from school each day, running cross country for my school, etc. i ate 2-3 meals a day, mostly home cooked food. afterward i started to binge eat then starve so it did change my appearance quite a bit. a lot of yo-yo dieting, gaining and losing weight throughout the span of a few weeks, months, and years. my family also started to order takeout and fast food more often. nowadays i'm sort of chubby appearance wise, but i'm not skinny nor completely as fat as i used to be. i still feel that i don't look "as pretty" to some people because they saw me when i was skinny. i honestly just wish i hadn't started binging in the first place. i wish i could have continued eating normally lol i feel that i should also add ive always been short. even now i'm around 5'3" but i haven't been tall in my life. i feel that i could have also grown more during puberty if i hadn't starved myself so much. or maybe to do with the way my body distributes fat, i'm not exactly sure. i used to get treated a lot better when i was skinny, versus when i was fat. right now i think i'm at an average ish weight but still i notice the difference in my performance in sports / in general after gaining too much weight. i feel a bit miserable that i can't quite get back to how fit i was back when i was healthier. in my family & culture, in vietnamese culture at least we still have the ideal body as being very thin. my mom grew up in the 90s with the "heroin chic" body type, and i guess she never grew out of her habits from the time either. i've actually started running and walking more often again, and i feel a bit better however a lot of the fat is still around. particular around my face, thighs and stomach. :( it's something i'm really insecure over.

something I've always noticed, is facial fat definitely makes the face look WAY younger..as I get older & look at my friends as they age (most of us over a decade of friendship) my heavier friends faces almost looks untouched by time other than style changes or scars they have acquired over time
@@jamiehershon The OP was saying that fat people tend to look younger. My response was that it is due to fat people remaining indoors longer. Sunlight is known to damage skin.
Dude I gained 70 pounds during corona. The worst thing is not getting any attention of the girls. It’s crazy. Normally you always have eyecontact and a bit of flirting anywhere you go. Now they just don’t even see me. It’s nuts. Im now dieting like a motherFrr. Can’t live like this bruh.
Zsa Zsa Gabor made any excellent comment that was basically when a woman ages, you can either keep your face or your figure but you cannot have both. This is very true. Notice how many older very slim women still have skin that lacks some elasticity? Well, that explains why their faces look older than they are and why so many start to use loads of fillers to plump their faces back up.
Thankfully, my face is literally the first thing that loses fat and is immediately noticeable. For an overwhelmingly majority of others, it is the polar opposite.
I think beauty is SO objective (especially culturally) that it's hard to say what is more attractive or not. The woman at 11:55 is to me far more attractive in the right hand photo than the left facially. She looks healthier to me and is still very slim. Now that I'm 45 I would not want to try to be the weight I was at my fittest in my early 20's because I would look really gaunt. I'd rather carry more weight (plus I'm not doing the physical job I was doing back then!). A great smile goes a long way IMO over points of a cm/mm difference or lbs of weight.
@@mariannek6735 he does mention the slimmer face equals more attractive though so I assumed he didn’t get them muddled, but who knows! I find these videos v interesting nonetheless!
The thinner girl is more elite and beautiful. However the average girl in that pic is well within reason to be considered attractive. Females can handle more fat on them then men without it distorting their bodies. Males are extremely sensitive to bodyfat when it comes to attraction.
@@voltinator ‘elite and beautiful’? It is all subjective in the end. Plenty of people find plump and fat bodies more appealing, and some prefer lean. Women have to be above a certain body fat to be able to have babies so this is why we naturally carry more of it. If we do not then our periods will stop, which is the body going into crisis.
@@ArtByEmilyHare The thin girl looks elite. Like an athletic ballerina or a gymnast. The average girl looks, well, average. She doesn't look refined for a particular sport.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And some of these pictures, the before is no makeup/hair back and the after is highly contoured makeup/dramatic hair. That makes more of a difference, too. I like short, bald men with a dad bod and sexy calves. Not that I can’t appreciate other body types and find tall, lean, muscular men attractive, but I like what like. My hubby and I have been together for almost 20 years. Realistically, our bodies have changed over time and that’s ok. I still find my husband just as desirable now as I did when we first met and we were both slimmer. His face would be beautiful to me no matter what weight he is. Yes, we are both trying to get healthier, but it’s purely for disease and injury prevention.
The face difference between me at 186 and me now at 125 (pregnancy + health issues I overcame) is astonishing. More people take me seriously upon first glance without knowing my story
This hits me on an other level, when I was young I was the most handsome of the class and used to be liked by all the girls but now my face has gained a lot of fat and acne
You just have to have a good diet, because to maintain a high weight the body need more calories, so if you cut the calories your body will naturally start losing fat and probably muscle so you need to work out so that the Muscles remains, or I'm just full of shit since I'm about to start to do that so see if it works
The girl's face at 11:45 looks much better with a little fat. When she was very thin her face looked haggard. In the other picture she looks healthy and more vivacious. In several of the images the fuller faces look better, especially among the men.
yeah. i used to be much skinnier and didn’t realised how pretty i was until i gained weight. then my family CONSTANTLY told me how pretty i used to be. and my little sister couldn’t even recognise me in old pics... and i remembered things that happened such as someone having a crush on me when i was skinny and people being much nicer in general. and yet i’m still struggling to lose weight when the benefits are. right. there.
Well, I guess I'm the odd one because when I had a BMI of about 22 I looked like a skeleton and it made my face look way longer than it is, it was horrible. While now I'm about a 29 BMI and I look more youthful and lively.
I’ve been on both ranges, from 6 ft one at 250 lbs to 6ft one 193lbs. Remarkable to see the change between the face. I get fatter to gain more muscle and then cut as winter passes, working out is great and weightlift training is my ritual now.
I knew this from the get go. I always had chubby cheeks and wish for years for them to go away ugh. I would bust my balls working out to make my face skinny lol. Then the alcoholic bloat was the worst. My face has gone back to normal since I became sober. I do think it's a sign of health for a lot of people. Having all the weight on my face and still do today but not as bad was an indication I was not healthy and I wasn't for sure.
@he was thank you! Have you seen the before and after pictures of people becoming sober? It really makes a difference. I am so grateful I did not compromise my physical health to a point of no return. I had friends die from cirrhosis. We were slowly killing ourselves. The struggle is real, I knew I had no choice but to become sober if I wanted to live.
Yoooooo almost three years sober and I've never looked better. Others DEFINITELY commented on my weight loss and lack of facial bloating! Congrats to you!!!!!!!
Yeah this is so cool after losing weight I noticed my face changing. Such a interesting and unexpected discovery. I actually did notice my skinny getting lighter when losing weight. That was weird too. So many things happen during weight loss that no one talks about
Nooo, not the turkey neck 😭 I still have some of that at a bmi of 22, but it was so much worse at the time I was overweight. I never thought of me as terribly unattractive but when I look at old photos of me I look so tired, old and even kinda sick in my face with the excess fat. Despite the slightly deeper wrinkles I look younger now than in my overweight years as a 20smth
Inflammation is huge in the states. When I go to South America twice a year, I loose inflammation overall and my face looks slim and more attractive. Puffy and inflamed in states I look chubby and less attractive.
It actually affects the way ur body recover and build muscle and burn fat, ur skin (especially the eyes and acne ) will probably suffer. Bottom line is good quality sleep is important to maintain and improve ur looks
0:29 Really interesting video! Just an FYI, you probably shouldn't be using a pregnancy photo to talk about unhealthy fat. Gives off the implication that it's "bad fat", when adipose tissue actually plays an integral role in assisting with fetal development and growth, it's needed. Women can also have endometrial bloating, which can take up the appearance of 'looking fat'.
@@DragonQuest27 where it's located and how it's positioned indicates either pregnancy or bloating, which is why I mentioned that. Fat hangs more loosely, while swelling of the uterus makes you more "puffy".
Not always the case, losing weight could age your face considerably, also, bone structure may affect the perception of eye positioning, my eyes seem closer to each other than they should "looking like a cyclop" because of the bone structure , not because of facial fatness
There's a very few exceptions to the rule. But in general in majority of cases, LOSING WEIGHT makes you look better, and it definitely makes you HEALTHIER as well
I lost around 26lbs and I personally didn't even notice (I don't have a scale) until people were asking me if I lost weight since my face was slimmer. Was a weird experience...
Man, that's exactly like me now!
Gotta lose weight again..
underweight face structures aren't attractive either
soo why not lose weight and gain muscle?
You should that to become epic
Yes that's just natural. We assign positive character traits to attractive people and treat them better than less attractive people. Nature is brutal. I'm very lean but have a bad mandible, gonial angle and ramus and skull shape in general so I will never be treated like you were treated when lean.

Age is a huge component in this discussion, though. Most of these examples are young people. A little extra weight for older people can be helpful to reduce wrinkles. Both my mother and my aunt lost a lot of weight recently and while they feel better in general it also aged their faces like 15 years and they feel very conflicted about it.
that's a good point
Agreed. Youthful people don't need extra fat but older people too. The hollowing out is real.
I’ve seen when people get procedures like buckle fat removal they may look more attractive but they look older (all ages)
if you've always been skinny tho it doesn't have an effect. the best anti aging strategy is actually to stay at the same skinny weight your whole life. fat loss ages your skin at any age (except when you're still growing obviously). being bigger and losing weight will always show off destroyed/stretched out connective tissue which makes the skin less tight. this is true for a 25 year old and for a 50 year old. it's a pity cause i lost that chance for life already as a chubby teen/young woman. wish someone would've told me before that the damage will be unreparable.
@@meladversity But how “chubby” are you that you think that chance is already gone as such a young person?

i don't really know enough to go super in depth, but if i recall correctly, stress negatively impacts the skin and hair, which are quite important aspects of attractiveness, and well anxiety would lead to higher levels of stress, depression could lead to lifestyle changes which would directly affect many factors of facial attractiveness, leanness as mentioned here, people with depression can tend to over or undereat, and im fairly sure insomnia or hypersomnia can affect the eye area slightly.
Too much stress makes hair white and age skin faster than normal

@@purpurina5663 Yes, I think that theory is probably at least somewhat correct.
I have also heard that even members of the same sex unintentionally treat non overweight people better.

There are exceptions I think 🤔 ...like Zendaya, her face is slim yet she looks like a high schooler
I agree! I am way more attractive with fat on my face.

@Refreshing Breeze I went on a low carb diet and did intermittent fasting.
Do you look better than before? Could you tell me what changed in your face, pls I need motivation
Diet and facial exercise won’t do much if your actual body fat is too high, the fat will cover up your facial details.
Agree about the softer features being better on women.

That's all.
May I know how long it took you before you started seeing visible results?
firstly, you need to take your diet in about a month or two before starting your exercise, but it just depends on how you've gained weight. Secondly, your gonna start your exercise with cardio and then so on with a complete exercise per week. I started seeing results in 9 months.

I wonder why seeing the skeletal structure is considered attractive? Jawline, cheekbones, waistline etc.
@@yourmomisgay1420 hmmm yes true

I actually think I look better with a fuller face. I have an angular face and when I get too skinny, I look awkward. I have big features on a small face. I think the rule in this video doesn't apply to all faces. It mostly applies to people with naturally rounder faces.
You're probably overweight and looking for an excuse

That's me. I look much better with a slightly rounder face. It also makes me look younger as I age.

There's 2 ways. Keep the weight and your face ages more. Or gain weight and lose it, and go up n down every decade and you gain younger face.
I would love to have my face thinned out a bit. I'm already quiet lean but don't have strong contour.

i used to be very skinny naturally before puberty, but then afterward i gained some weight. around 11-14 i started gaining weight normally, but i also started struggling with bulimia and starving after overeating. it's something that i still somewhat struggle with today. it messed up my metabolism and body overall.
at my "peak" or when i was first very fit, i did a lot of walking to and from school each day, running cross country for my school, etc. i ate 2-3 meals a day, mostly home cooked food.
afterward i started to binge eat then starve so it did change my appearance quite a bit. a lot of yo-yo dieting, gaining and losing weight throughout the span of a few weeks, months, and years. my family also started to order takeout and fast food more often. nowadays i'm sort of chubby appearance wise, but i'm not skinny nor completely as fat as i used to be.
i still feel that i don't look "as pretty" to some people because they saw me when i was skinny. i honestly just wish i hadn't started binging in the first place. i wish i could have continued eating normally lol
i feel that i should also add ive always been short. even now i'm around 5'3" but i haven't been tall in my life. i feel that i could have also grown more during puberty if i hadn't starved myself so much. or maybe to do with the way my body distributes fat, i'm not exactly sure.
i used to get treated a lot better when i was skinny, versus when i was fat. right now i think i'm at an average ish weight but still i notice the difference in my performance in sports / in general after gaining too much weight. i feel a bit miserable that i can't quite get back to how fit i was back when i was healthier.
in my family & culture, in vietnamese culture at least we still have the ideal body as being very thin. my mom grew up in the 90s with the "heroin chic" body type, and i guess she never grew out of her habits from the time either.
i've actually started running and walking more often again, and i feel a bit better however a lot of the fat is still around. particular around my face, thighs and stomach. :( it's something i'm really insecure over.
I relate so much, i used to be skinny, then i gain fat with puberty, and i lost a lot of confidence....

I don't think that is true. You can achieve balance. But that's a completely different lifestyle and people are even lazy to get off the couch.
Halle Berry is one of the few women that has maintained both.

0:29 Really interesting video! Just an FYI, you probably shouldn't be using a pregnancy photo to talk about unhealthy fat. Gives off the implication that it's "bad fat", when adipose tissue actually plays an integral role in assisting with fetal development and growth, it's needed.
