Watching this has made me more empathetic towards people struggling with their weight. Some people make bad decisions at the start but when the time comes to try to make a change, they find so much misinformation, corruption, bad advice, etc. and also easily fall into the hole of eating disorders and yo-yo dieting. I think that the most important thing for anyone to lose weight is just consistency. A consistent, even if minimal, caloric deficit, will lead to weight loss.
It's definitely harder for some, but is it really impossible?

@@milkxvwhilst I am not the original commenter I would like to join in and say no his arguments are not logical, occasionally I would find myself agreeing with his initial statements only to disagree shame does not work. Shame is a short time solution to the long term problem, it may motivate a person for a short period of time but it’s not sustainable this is because the spark of change didn’t come from themselves. A person will never change unless they make that conscious decision for themselves, can’t force a person to do something because the moment you look away they’ll stop, it’s basic human psychology. The person in question needs that intial drive to change that’s why shame alone won’t change a person, sure it may seem like it works sometimes but that’s because that person already has the drive to change.

Myron's focus is more just to strike a nerve. Just like how Andrew does, it's a truth but said in a way where it's an overreaching generalization just meant to get someone mad. I think his points are so focused on emotional detachment to any level of improvement that shaming is to be perceived as a motivator and nothing more. However, you cannot ignore the facts that emotional detachment can also be damaging. His point is not always about being stoic; it's about NOT liking who you are, and while that may be a consequence of your poor actions in the past, you shouldn't just discern that you're any less capable of being better. True progress happens when you're IN CONTROL of your emotions, not absolved from them.
