- On February 24, the first day of #Russia's war in #Ukraine, Moscow's troops took over #Chernobyl, the scene of the world's worst-ever nuclear accident. Following a 35-day occupation, Ukraine regained control of the vast defunct plant, but workers have had a hard time returning it to regular functioning. Employees were forced to rebuild IT systems from scratch after specialist equipment and software were ransacked by Russian soldiers. Chernobyl remains a highly volatile site, with hundreds of tonnes of radioactive material still sitting under a protective cover.

I guess the Russian troops thinks they’re playing escape from Tarkov
I find it odd how the Russians disabled all the computers they found in the Chernobyl labs by taking out the CPUs and RAM of each desktop but left the rest of the components just sitting there. Is it easier to disable stuff that way as opposed to lugging around the computers into one spot and, say, hitting it with a sledgehammer or shooting it? Did some soldiers steal the components to sell if off later? Either way, I hope the lab staff get new equipment soon, the exclusion zone's radiation and the universal danger it poses to humanity ought not to be forgotten.
They probably ripped RAM sticks, hard drives, and graphic cards - i.e. things that are easy to carry, and then use or sell.
They shouldve clouded the info...
Apparently Alexander didn’t miss a meal during his weeks of captivity.
