I remember Chernobyl well . It happened as same month I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child a son. We got to know several kids from Chernobyl as we were close friends with one of the Canadian organizers of save the children. She and her husband always fostered at least 2 kids every summer . We were taught a few words, phrases in Russian. During WINTER we would help fundraising efforts with joy. This was in 90s.

Chernobyl was just the name of the nuclear power plant... The city around it was called Pripyat, and it was a relatively new city when it had to be evacuated. Those firefighters who reported to the scene had no clue they were sacrificing their lives to do so. The same with the early liquidators who were never given the proper credit they deserved.

@@dmart9642 This is how it appears on the surface. In late 1970 KGB decided that they can not rely on military or KPSS to lead the country. Dying Yurii Andropov dictated his plans for future Ruzzia to a young unknown man called V. Putin. Operation Dead Fox. The plan was to disassemble USSR and Warsaw treaty, to place a weak leader (Yeltzin), and after 20 years of chaos and stagnation, a strong leader would come and restore the USSR, as it was. Looks like the plans were scaled down from 50 years to about 35-40. There are more details, some correct, some failed, but this is the main idea. USSR never dismantled the military and the secret services. Former Ideology functionals turned advertisement agents and religious leaders.

      That doesn’t even make sense.
People can go research Chernobyl. That’s why they have photos of the interior (elephants foot formation). You could visit there with a tour guide, before the war. The damage is more likely to happen to the electronics or personal belongings, rather than “setting off” the radiation. You can even see them checking people’s radiation levels in the video. That is a necessary technological device used for safety when visiting the site. Radiation degrades over time. Yes it is still lethal, but the most lethal material is INSIDE the reactor buildings, and nobody goes in there anymore. with proper precautions taken (like covering all skin and monitoring radiation levels, don’t touch anything with bare hands, etc) and limited amount of time spent on the outdoor grounds, you will likely be fine.

After 19 years since the beginning of the invasion of Iraq, has the West forgotten this war?
The Iraq war is said to have resulted in 1 million deaths the difference is russia have weapons of mass destruction
A message to the future generations never make russia feel threatened
the difference between "looking dangerous" and "being dangerous".Russia
describes military doctrine as defensive military doctrine. With regard
to nuclear weapons specifically, Russia reserves the right to use
nuclear weapons: in response to the use of nuclear and other types of
weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies,in case of
aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons when the
very existence of the state is threatened
Russia has the World's Largest Bomber
As of 2022, the Federation of American Scientists estimates that Russia possesses 5,977 nuclear weapons, while the United States has 5,428; Russia and the U.S. each have about 1,600 active deployed strategic nuclear warheads.
Russia has the most nuclear weapons of any country, at 6,257. Of these, 1,458 are active, meaning they are already deployed, 3,039 are available (can be deployed if needed) and 1,760 are retired (out of use and awaiting dismantlement
How do Russian nuclear weapons compare to the rest of the world?
    Russia - 6,257
    America 5,550
    UK - 225
    France - 290
    China - 350
    Israel - 90
    Pakistan - 165
    India - 156
    North Korea - 40
