I remember Chernobyl well . It happened as same month I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child a son. We got to know several kids from Chernobyl as we were close friends with one of the Canadian organizers of save the children. She and her husband always fostered at least 2 kids every summer . We were taught a few words, phrases in Russian. During WINTER we would help fundraising efforts with joy. This was in 90s.
Hope they were ok
Who cares
Time to intervene!!! We can't have another nuclear disaster.
@@sayulitalyfe5299 Probably the thousands of families of the people who died. Even tho Russia tends to say only 31 people died in the avoidable accident.
Still it shows you morality & intelligence level is at an all time low.
Would it be possible to nuke the Russians to eliminate this threat once and for all?
Chernobyl was just the name of the nuclear power plant... The city around it was called Pripyat, and it was a relatively new city when it had to be evacuated. Those firefighters who reported to the scene had no clue they were sacrificing their lives to do so. The same with the early liquidators who were never given the proper credit they deserved.
She went into chernobyl and warned us about reporting old stories while in chernobyl. So brave to hold that mic 🎤
chernobyl had tourist tours before the war you fool... how is she brave to go where tourists go... soy boy.
Lol
I mean, would you set foot in Ukraine knowing it’s an active war zone?
@@PARCE93 set foot in ukraine.??.. what, you mean like the hundreds of journalists who are there already...
You’d have to be living under a rock not to know that amusement park. It’s been in every photo of Chernobyl.
That park is in the town that got evaluated it's not near were the melted down plant is.....
Town that got evacuated....
The amusement park is in the town of Pripyat very close to Chernobyl
@@willrobinson9767 WE KNOW LMAO
@@dmart9642 40 kilometers is not close....
Chernobyl is the worlds number one trafficking ring.
So maybe Ukraine should stop firing on the nuclear station
If there were any warning signs, I failed to see where this video mentioned them. The title is misleading.
I learnt nothing new from this report. Totally misleading title
Exactly
@@yamz3713 I reported the video as having inaccurate captions.
I see that "signs" as meaning things you can see with your eyes that warn you it isn't a good idea to repeat this situation NOT ROAD TRAFFIC TYPE SIGNS.
There were warning signs shown in the video inside the reactor. I would be surprised if there weren't any warning signs. I think this is what the title is refering to?
It's not entirely unoccupied- there's a documentary about the elderly women who live there, Babuskas of Chernobyl I believe it was called? Definitely had babushka in the title. Very interesting. I have wondered how they managed when the Russians invaded. A couple of the ladies lived through constant fighting during WW2, the starvations Stalin caused and his Purges as well. Tough as nails.
Leaders these ladies are!
Yes I watched a documentary on these women they are I. There 80 s and 90s . Living of crops full of radiation but moamst of them that stayed died of cancer years later so sad. .my son also went on a trip there as round all the old flats you can only st as y to here a few hours he said it's like as time capsule. So scary. Also apparently the movie Netflix made is nothing like what really happened
The Netflix film was DEFINITELY similar to what happened, although highly dramatized in order to tell the story. People (as "characters") were "combined", and certain names were obviously changed in order to protect people's privacy, lives, etc.
Besides... we all know that Russian officials would NEVER release 100% of the actual, legitimate truth. 😂🤣😂 DUH. I mean... just look at RUS v UKR...
...an obvious bastion of truth left and right. 🙄
Those explosions were Ukraine trying to blow it up.
…💀
If it was, and America knew, America and the rest of NATO wouldn’t be supporting Ukraine, because an explosion on a nuclear power plant with all that radiation, would fly everywhere in Europe.
I suspect it was Russia doing what they do best. Making false flag operations for propaganda.
Chernobyl is scary
And to think, that KGB agents knew about the danger (they had a close call in 1975 Leningrad), and instead of educating the specialists, they kept it secret!!!!!!! It is almost like they did it on purpose!
@@west_park7993 secrets are what destroyed the Soviet Union after all
@@dmart9642 This is how it appears on the surface. In late 1970 KGB decided that they can not rely on military or KPSS to lead the country. Dying Yurii Andropov dictated his plans for future Ruzzia to a young unknown man called V. Putin. Operation Dead Fox. The plan was to disassemble USSR and Warsaw treaty, to place a weak leader (Yeltzin), and after 20 years of chaos and stagnation, a strong leader would come and restore the USSR, as it was. Looks like the plans were scaled down from 50 years to about 35-40. There are more details, some correct, some failed, but this is the main idea. USSR never dismantled the military and the secret services. Former Ideology functionals turned advertisement agents and religious leaders.
Aaah I remember pripyat, I visited back in 1982, it was buzzing with life. Sad to see it abandoned now
Also the other concern should be the Russian forces that go to Chernobyl. What they took with them after they withdraw.
Probably safer to give em chernoble, fighting over a loaded shotgun is more dangerous than leaving it in a safe
"50,000 people used to live here.... and now it's a ghost town..."

The city isnt called Chernobyl...it wasnt even 40 years ago and we cant even remember the name?
WTF why? "Just let it self burn out"
Moscow will be at great risk for radiation fallout if Chernobyl is bombed. This almost occurred in 1986 when the Soviets had to create precipitation and rainfall before the radioactive clouds got to Moscow. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
Where’s capt price and McMillan when you need them.
I like how the camera is up on a UXO at one point in this. When safety standards say not to have radio, or electronic devices near it because it could set it off. But the reporter is right on top of it with a disregard of safety. Thanks for showing the world that.
The news media doesnt care how much damage they do as long as they get their shot
set what of?
That doesn’t even make sense.
People can go research Chernobyl. That’s why they have photos of the interior (elephants foot formation). You could visit there with a tour guide, before the war. The damage is more likely to happen to the electronics or personal belongings, rather than “setting off” the radiation. You can even see them checking people’s radiation levels in the video. That is a necessary technological device used for safety when visiting the site. Radiation degrades over time. Yes it is still lethal, but the most lethal material is INSIDE the reactor buildings, and nobody goes in there anymore. with proper precautions taken (like covering all skin and monitoring radiation levels, don’t touch anything with bare hands, etc) and limited amount of time spent on the outdoor grounds, you will likely be fine.
I'm so grateful, you covered this for just under four minutes. Thank you.
Did you need them to talk slower?
This comment is precisely why the majority of Americans are intellectually disabled.
For the safety of both the Russian and western European people there needs to be international monitoring of all nuclear facilities in Ukraine for the duration of the war. Since Russia specifically claimed that they feared weapons labs or dirty bombs being created there they should agree to this.
now are we talking about the same Russia that lies every time they say anything or sign something that they have no intention of honoring ? .. out ...
Putin has requested this. YN won’t comply.
Yeah, just let Russians over there to do it. It'll save billions for the USA and NATO. Unless there's actually dirty bombs or something at those sites and you don't want the Russians to find them and show them to the world.
@adam leonard yup, which is why the west doesn't want Russia over there. Pretty difficult to say Russian artillery when it's made in Israel/USA
You should know that no missle can cause another Chernobyl. The worst that can happen is more like Fukushima. The reason is that the plant is build like a bunker.
The Ukranians are shelling the nuclear power plant in Zhephoreshia, thats what I have heard.
This plant is also in russian controlled territory.
Chernobyl: *takes long cig drag* "Lets see if we can still sell power while shutting down."
They built that cover 10 miles away then used rail lines to roll it over....... Nobody goes there because you would be dead in 10 minutes if you did.......
What does gretta Thornburg say about this serious problem ?
It is occupied, as there were some residents that insisted on staying, and they did.
What are the warning signs
I can't believe the Russians were so poorly trained they dug trenches and fighting positions in the forest that was still heavily contaminated with radiation. It's like they forgot all their training on what to do and not to do in an area where there is known radiation. 'Well probably never know how many are sick and if any of them died. A terrible way to die.
Almost as bad as dying as a ukranian soldier fighting a US proxy war against Russia so your leadership can get rich selling out all your resources to the highest bidders.
Or nearly as bad as believing everything you see on US corporate propaganda channels.
Putin is a shadow of the USSR and the fact no one in his circle thought of this is embarrassing. Absolute embarrassment.
Don’t think it was training and much as no choice. They were going to take that plant and they were in a war. It would be interesting t know why that target was so valuable.
@@ericeandco
It slowed Ukraine's deployment of forces and weapons at the real front line, similar to attacks on Kyiv.
If people care so much about this kind of problem, why nobody going say anything about Japan dumping nuclear waste in the sea.
Dozens dead? THOUSANDS. The KGB created a massive cover up. Do not underestimate the damage Chernobyl 4's meltdown created.
THE CIA created zeluisky the funny leader that gives 10% to the big guy.
So she is standing right by the main site but she can't fild a single soldier that are apparently shelling and taking over the site right now. Where are they then? Is this old footage or something?

Bumper cars, not dodge em. You crash each other on purpose. Not dodge...
Did… did you guys dig a hole and place a shell casing in it? Because that is way too well preserved to be real. I’m in the army, these casings are destroyed on impact and the impact craters are not nearly dug little holes with near piles of dirt with a near clean intact casing poking out of it. That image is completely staged. And because of that i now can not put any faith in the truthfulness of the rest of this report.
Someone has been faking thousands of such pictures for decades...
Good thing you're here to set the world straight with your unfounded claim that any soldier knows is bullshit.👍

Russians have been shelling Nikopol city across the river with Grad missiles, hiding behind the nuclear power plant for about a month. Yesterday they launched 120 missiles and killed 13 civilians there. They are not afraid of response because they know well than no one will fire to a nuclear facility. A friend of mine got a hit in his apartment, luckily he and his family were spending the night in a shelter.
Yet the Ukr ain nianz are still reckless enough to bomb the power plant.

Did that reporter take a Geiger meter? Isn't that place still radioactive? Like the whole town?
The city has actually been open for tours for quite a while.
It is, but levels have decreased since 1986, especially since they built the New Safe Confinement dome.
@@HinataElyonToph is it safe though? Like has anyone pulled out a radiation detector? I thought Russia bombed the crap out of that area and cracked the concrete dome thing?
