Apparently the real life survivor Lyudmila Ignatenko was really upset by this series, claiming HBO didn’t consult her whatsoever, though HBO has disputed this. Also as a result of the show showing her when she was taking care of her radioactive dying husband, she’s gotten a bunch of death threats by disgruntled viewers of the show. You can have whatever opinions you want of her, but please don’t go attacking her specifically, hasn’t she already suffered so much?
@jmd2789 The Chernobyl disaster is more powerful than the explosion of a nuclear bomb in Hiroshima. I am from Belarus (this country suffered the most from the disaster), was born 10 years after Chernobyl (thank God healthy), but I know a few people who were less fortunate.( for example one skin spotted) something Like that. In this scenario, we have to have the radiation sensors in each house, but they are not. Every person should have crap to check food, water, etc. for the presence of isotopes, but for some reason not. The problem is further hushed up, because who will live where everything is poisoned? People further fool. Dunno what will happen in a hundred years. How it affected the genome, etc. But it's all true... If it were not for the sacrifices made by people, the whole of Eurasia would be in the same situation, even worse. Sorry, i'm used google translator.
I don't think so to be really honest personally. The grade of radiation had an psychological effect, most of the people who died later wanted to die so bad that they started to hurt themselves. To have been a witness of so many death, can make you feel like you deserve to be like them, like your friends, colleagues or who ever they worked with back then. You got the feeling that you made it out alive, well and all. Yet the people who you worked with, been with. They died, and kinda wish you were. Radiation grows on your body, people don't want to be near you. You are already dead, thats the real suffer for sure. Without a doubt
@@jvolwater8864he said “the scariest part is that it actually happened” and you said “I don’t think so personally”, but then you explain what happened after the Chernobyl disaster just doesn’t really make sense what you said mate
This is a truly brilliant, yet heartbreaking depiction of one of the most ghastly, horrific, & terrible tragedies in world history. Jared Harris put on a masterful performance for the ages. Hats off to HBO once again.
Apparently sounds were recorded at a similar power plant in Ignalina Lithuania , (which is where the series was filmed, due to the plant being of the same type and building style). The music was then made to emulate the noises recorded there. Inspired yet creepy, this trailer still gives me chills and makes my hair stand on end. The dialog selected for the trailer is chilling too.

Call me idiot but prove me wrong.. i think that quote is just rephrasing the same idea with other words as if they mean 2 different things but they dont
The trailer actually looks promising and also keeping an eye on the historical facts. Some scenes look very familiar to a documentation about Waleri Legassow, which was quite good too.
Fukushima would be cool to learn about but it was no where near as bad as Chernobyl. A 7 on the scales but didnt come close to killing as many people as Chernobyl did. Fukushima was a complete accident. We were told Chernobyl was too. But it was done purposfully on accident if that makes sense.

running287 I don’t know how I’m part of “you guys” but I’m not saying that the world is going to be set ablaze anytime soon. @running287 you're a running example of not believing science when there is obvious proof that climate change is real Ps don't use the word prophet if you don't know what it means

Craig Mazin is truly a great writer, from Chernobyl to The Last of Us. Like he has a certain skill of making you shocked and sympathetic for people in apocalyptic scenarios
@user-xv9rf2ll3m he adapted it to the television medium, though. Neil Druckman (one of the creators of the game) no longer had much hope of adapting the game to another medium after a failed attempt to adapt it to film. So much so that he wasn't even interested in the adaptation offer that Craig Mazin (creator of the miniseries Chernobyl and HUGE fan of The last of us) sent him through the voice actor and motion capture of Dina (important character of The last of us part II), Shannon Woodward. The game adaptation became a reality after Neil Druckman watched the Chernobyl miniseries and noticed Craig Mazin's talent. He became a fan of his own fan, set up a meeting, listened to the offer, accepted it, let him improve the story of the game into what was needed for a TV show and boom: the result was one of the best TV shows of the year and many many new fans of The last of us that wouldn't exist because most of them are people who never pick up a play station controller missing out on the opportunity to enjoy the great stories that exist in the world of video games.
I’m not writing this lightly : I have rarely watched something as PERFECT as this, Cinema or TV. An absolute masterpiece of a miniseries. Extraordinary.
You clearly haven’t seen great outstanding cinema yet. Craig Mazin manipulated the back stories and made up events that never actually happened. Yes the film quality is pretty good but some details just don’t line up well. I watch films made, written, and produced by Stanley Kubrick, Stephen Spielberg, Stephen King, Chris Nolan, Tim Burton etc.. These guys made some true pieces of cinematic art.

My parents were living in England and refused to buy meat or veg that came from Wales as apparently a lot of radiation ended up there when it hit United Kingdom. To this day they still don't buy anything food wise from them as it could still be in the earth
Were it not for the three guys going underneath the deadly radioactive core to cut off a water valve, it WOULD’VE irradiated the entire European continent. Those guys literally saved millions of people!
I like how they added the scene with the Babushka milking the cow. There were some old people who didn't want to leave and were forcefully transformed which came back later and still live in that area (off course not close to the center)
How can a series be so good. It is as if you are there when it happened. This series is so good that you can even tell this is by far the best among all other series without even watching those.

I believe this particular horror film is directly based on a 2003 BBC documentary, it uses scenes in the exact same order, and lines copied word for word. Both films start out with the suicide of Valery Legasov, the only two films to ever do that. Some of the lines in there were not known from historical accounts, but were made up by the BBC in 2003 by creative license, it would be one hell of a coincidence for this 2019 HBO film to use those exact same words. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/yk3-XUe0oEU/видео.html

And b4 that Borris in the show said he didnt need him anymore lol i know there were several dozen scientists there but it makes that scene a little crazier imo

Sorry to be that guy, but nuclear winter is caused by the dust lifted into the higher levels of the atmosphere, preventing sunlight from entering and thus reducing surface temperature of Earth(only nuclear weapons and super-vulcanos are capable of that), Chernobyl could not have exploded in that way, the cloud would have been more poisonous and in lower atmosphere, raining all over the world in the worst case. So term 'nuclear winter" is not really applicable

Also as a result of the show showing her when she was taking care of her radioactive dying husband, she’s gotten a bunch of death threats by disgruntled viewers of the show. You can have whatever opinions you want of her, but please don’t go attacking her specifically, hasn’t she already suffered so much?

jmd2789 it was 400 times more potent than Hiroshima I believe. Just saw it in Reallifelore lol

The scariest part of this series is the fact that this happened
I don't think so to be really honest personally. The grade of radiation had an psychological effect, most of the people who died later wanted to die so bad that they started to hurt themselves. To have been a witness of so many death, can make you feel like you deserve to be like them, like your friends, colleagues or who ever they worked with back then. You got the feeling that you made it out alive, well and all. Yet the people who you worked with, been with. They died, and kinda wish you were. Radiation grows on your body, people don't want to be near you. You are already dead, thats the real suffer for sure. Without a doubt

Craig Mazin is truly a great writer, from Chernobyl to The Last of Us. Like he has a certain skill of making you shocked and sympathetic for people in apocalyptic scenarios
He didn't write The Last Of Us... It's a video game with an amazing cinematic story.

You’re not the only one. Anyone that I’ve been able to watch this has thought the same. I’ve gotten so many people hooked into the series.
I'm thinking of rewatching the series, what can I say, it is *that* good
Yeah I have also watched this 6 times. Everytime I notice something more and it get better and better.

I just bought this miniseries today and I’m going to start watching it tonight. I haven’t seen any of it yet and I’m really looking forward to it👍🏼
This is still one of the best cut trailers ever made. Perfectly encapsulates the tone of the show.

Just the sound of the alarm sends shivers down your spine
The fact that this actually happened is the most terrifying part about Chernobyl.
And the fact that none of it was in the slightest exaggerated terrifies.
And the fact it was so recent as well
Giorgos And it ac doesn’t exaggerate as much as most shows or films based on real life tbh they got It p much accurate apart from certain parts they wanted to add entertainment in ofc but I think the point is the show is based off real life and not even just a fake story like titanic it p much follows the whole event
@Giorgos And hi from Ukraine) You are absolutely wrong xD
"Why is the sky purple?"
"Wouldn't you like to know, weather boi?"
Omg...
It’s because the radiation was ionizing the air

And thats true, ask every inmate in jail
By the way in this series a lot of lies about Legasov. And his attitude to this tragedy too. And his suicide also. So yes, i hope this autors will burn in hell after they will die.
This series was incredible, epic and scary.
The planet should always be grateful to the heroes who sacrificed to save the planet from a disaster.
It was pretty inaccurate
@Odinsbakery why?
