I think you mistook that expression, he already estimated the number to be more than twice as high* in the Central Committee meeting earlier.
*Based on his claim that 3.6 Roentgen = 400 X-ray exposures, and his estimate of the firemans exposure being 4 million X-rays, or 10,000x higher = 36,000 Roentgen.

Boris Baranov: died at the age of 64 in april of 2005, almost 20 years after the tragedy.
Valeriy Bespalov: still alive (63 years for now). At 1992 returned to work on Chernobyl NPP (surprise, it is still functional).
Ananenko Alexey: still alive (61 year for now). Was working in the nuclear industry up to 2018.

@@pushkarsoni8927 first of all, "secret" tapes from Legasov. They were more like memories, not secret revelations. And he did not destroyed them or throw to the garbage bin.
Second one, how they depicted Sherbina. He was not that stupid as he was shown. He was an engineer and that scene with "throwing out of helicopter" is an absolute nonsense. He was working on cooperation of whole mission: evacuation, supply routs, organization temporary camps for liquidators etc. He was not a shady KGB moron as he was depicted in series.
Third one: Hamyuk is a complete fiction. There were dozens of real scientist working on that problem, finding solution. Not like little brave decedent woman finding solution by miracle or because how gifted she was.
Scuba divers scene is a complete bullshit. Not only they survived, two of them are still alive, they were working in nuclear production for many years after the incident. Also that "vodka celebrating" looks rly stupid. They were sprayed with clean water first and then they were isolated. Nobody was hugging them and ofcourse no vodka on duty, that's a big nono.
Schadov, the minister of coal mining industry. Just google and look at the face of that man, who started working in coal mine at the age of 15 and worked on mines for 40 years and then compare with what they showed in the series. Whole scene from armed guards ready to shot and angry miners initiating dandy in blue jacket into the mining is a complete bullshit.
      Naked miners - bullshit.
The amount of mud, dirt and vodka in temporary camps is absurd. There were several buildings completed for people to live during the operation. Tent camp was maybe few first days. Mosin hunters is also absurd, because there were no mosins in the army at 1986. Every soldier was equipped with an akm at least.
Concrete burial in the middle of nowhere - bullshit. Ignatenko was transported to the Moscow where he received bone marrow transplantation and died two weeks later. The external damage was not as brutal as it was shown in the series, most of the damage was inside: lungs, kidneys, blood. .His wife was outraged about the series. Vasiliy was buried at the Mitinskoe Cemetery in Moscow with the regular ceremony, yet in metal coffin and without shoes, because his feet were too big from edema to find any shoes to put on. Concrete was added years later when radiation started to get to the surface. And outside of his window was not a grey wall of desperation but main square of the capital, where he and his wife were watching the salute at 9th of May. Not a main thing but a detail that creators intentionally deformed to show how bad situation was. It was bad, yes, he died in agony. But he did not die like a stray dog.
The 5th episode was inacurate for participants in the trial and what theses were considered at it.
And so on and so on. People are making hours long videos about all those aspects and all the lie that Renck and Mazin put there intentionally. To show that USSR is a place of grey hopelessness, rotten corpses and lunatics ruling poor people. Despite the fact that USSR at 1986 had more from capitalistic society than socialistic.
Still was able to evacuate thousands of people in few days without any loss in panic and crush. Was able to cease the aftermath of a tragedy without rly big consequence for the world, mobilize and organize a big operation with thousands of people involved if few days.
it's just too much of a bullshit, those series has almost nothing with the real events. Probably the only one man that was depicted kinda accurate is general Tarakanov.

Wow... I didn't knew there was a precise definition of "perfect" but I think I found it. This is the best Chernobyl edit I have ever seen and I really appreciate the hard work you put into this! You chose perfect background music and video material as well! Thank you so much for this masterpiece💜

Magnificent, i love this nice edit work. I know a lot about chernobyl and the series, i studied Chernobyl for 2 years. When i watch the series after seeing this i cant see it the same way anymore. This was nicely made, you gave me the suspense i got from watching the entire series. You did it in 4 minutes. I cannot tell how wondified i am
