Same idea I had for my future travel bag, too, but not realized, yet!!!) Two options I thing it is perfectly practical: 1)Pocket & 2)Holder for the trolley. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am 71 years old and never made a purse like this before I have not sewn in many years but I decided to try this and with a lot of swearing and stress, I managed it I am so pleased with myself
I have made several. I made a smaller one for an every day. One tip make sure the center pocket is sturdy fabric or interface for the pocket not to be flimsy.
OOOOOHHHH Jess. I have been hoping you’d make a video on this one. I bought the pattern a wee while back but never had the courage to attempt it. Now I will. Thank you lovely lady XXX
Thank you Jess for the video! I did it! Took me a week to make and it's not as perfect as I want it to be. I knew if I went back to make it perfect I would never finish it. I'm using it to carry snacks to the lake. I used waterproof canvas on the outside and cotton on the inside. This is the first time I have ever made a bag. I bought the sewing machine to make mask during covid times. Now to try the next bag!
Love this bag and made it a few months ago. I am a "confident" beginner, so, yeah, it's beginner friendly when you take it slow and watch videos. It was a long sew, but is was GREAT! I love the bag!!! Also - I changed the handles to have rectangular rings at the base so the handles lay down (watched Lauren from Moremeknow to pick up that one). Have I said yet that I love this bag??? Thanks for the video!
@marie kairys I have a domestic machine - a Brother HC1850. I used vinyl and cotton quilt fabric on the outside and just cotton quilt fabric on the inside. When I make this again, I am going to try waterproof canvas instead of vinyl to see if it’s any easier to sew.
Hi Jess, I’m a very very beginner when it comes to sewing. I am yet to get my first machine and will be excited to start trying some of the patterns you have used. I would love it if you could do a tutorial on how to print and cut out patterns! This would be so helpful as I find your tutorials very easy to follow, but haven’t seen anything with patterns. You are a great teacher and make things easy to follow 😊 thanks, Lee from Sydney, Australia x
Thank you soooo much for the amazing tutorial! I just finished two simultaneously following your tutorial and am looking forward to doing more. :) I love the colors/fabric you used!
I watched a video but can’t remember the creator. She put a piece of none woven cut away embroidery stabilizer down the length of her straps to keep them from twisting. Hey were quite good looking.
dang it takes me 25 minutes to sew the straps because i have to put my machine on the slowest mode and literally do 2 stich every 1.5 seconds or something. it would skip stitches otherwise. anyone else have this problem? i have a babylock lyric, spent 2,000 on it and i'm just sewing through canvas :( maybe i have been doing this wrong
Love your tutorials! Where can I purchase the interfacing/stabilizer that you can peel off when placing it. I looked in your description below but can't find it. Thank you for everything you do for us visual learners. ❤❤💖👍🌹
LOVE this tutorial and this bag! I know you have several machines, and I was just curious which machine you used for this one...I am pretty sure it's the Bernina Tula but just curious because it didn't struggle at all!!!
i finished the bag but the bottom gets squished. it doesnt stay firm and i used a decovil light and waterproof canvas as well. is that supposed to happen?
i am getting stuff ready to make this bag with beauty and the beast fabric and vinyl (man i wish i could afford you rivet press and the therxfuse, one day) for my 50th birthday which is on the 25th of this month. where did you get your mouse rivet that has the die
Thank you the great video but why don’t you use your 1541 for this? I love mine and use it everyday and can’t even imagine sewing something like this without it.
Fabulous bag and stupendous tutorial! Your tips and suggestions are such an excellent way to learn from a pro! Also, I like the idea of imperfection tolerance!!!
Beautiful!!!! Love it!!!!! But, is it just me? How much does this bag cost to make??? The material is not cheap! For a vinyl bag???? How much can you possibly sell a vinyl bag for???? Curious to hear your opinion. :)
I wish we would get responses to these questions. I'm in the process of attempting this bag and wanted to ask if I could add decovil light if using cotton on the exterior. I never get answers here unless someone else comments on the video.
In your rivet press video, you recommended starting off with purchasing the 10 mm rivet die and 9mm rivets. This tutorial asks for 12 mm dies so confused as to what to purchase.
Love watching you make bags . Your awesome I,ve made a couple easy boxy bags you did but this one AWESOME I made it and love it. Can’t wait to make another one .
I just want to thank you for the bucket hat I loved it and did my grandson I used the adult E but for the brim I used adult H for the witness but cut it at adult E on the sides it worked beautifully and the brim looks awesome!
I am late to the party but I always find your videos spot on for what I am looking for at the time!! This has everything I was looking for!! Bravo on this awesome bag!! I made one similar for my daughter as a computer bag! You make it look so easy!! Super job!!
I used to make cushions from vinyl. We used silicone spray on the sewing machine bed to make the vinyl slide rather than stick. We got it from upholstery suppliers. I'm not sure where to get it otherwise.
Excellent video, I learned a lot thanks! My only observation will be could you please rise near the camera the small products that you use, especially when you are filming from above showing the necessary products from the table. Love your channel, keep the good work
I have had this pattern and actually some of it cut out for a while now. It is bag for myself and I kept putting it on hold to finish things for other people. Mainly my son who started 2nd grade. Then I had people who saw some of the things I've made and wanted me to make them things. Needs to say I put my bag on hold. I am using Harry Potter materials. The main part of my bag is a black vinyl that with heat shows the Marauders map. I have also cut out the accent materials using some glow in the dark back stitch vinyl. Along with burgundy Marine vinyl. I was waiting for my fabrics to come in as I wanted to do pocket linings with all four of the houses. Thinking through it more I am actually going to use those fabrics to make little snack bags or things to put in my purse to organize it. I'm going to keep my bag strictly waterproof canvas. Thanks for the tutorial. It makes me want to get back in my sewing room and finish up a bag for myself. First I got to get over covid and get these t-shirts embroidered for an order
El gran bolso perfecto, con muchos bolsillos para todas las necesidades femeninas, y la plancha con vida propia, simplemente genial. Gracias!!!!!🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😘
I'm wondering where you are buying your fabrics from? I live in Canada and am struggling to find waterproof fabrics. This is absolutely lovely and I look forward to making it!!! Thank you so much for featuring this bag!
@@srellimeus saw Jess' lists and unfortunately the shipping to Canada is about 1/2 of the cost of the vinyl. Sadly, there are no comparable Canadian companies with such great variety. I'll definitely keep watching such great tutorials for inspiration and use what I have available to me (in my budget) :0)
@@tracyhastingsyes, I have that trouble as well. I send my purchases from them to friends or family within the US and they send it to me in the UK. I am grateful I have this option.
Amazing bag, thank you! Only way to improve this bag is to modify the middle divider pocket and beef it up for a laptop...is that possible and can you make a mini tutorial for that modification?
Thank you so much for the details in your videos. The use of chapters makes it so much easier to find content. I would prefer to see linings of cotton that are interfaced. On camera/on screen the waterproof canvas color is so close and it is difficult to tell the right and wrong sides even though you do indicate which it is.
Love it! The center divider pocket do you think it could be interfaced with fleece/foam to make it like a laptop pocket? Obviously keeping it out of the seam allowances.
I love big totes and I can not lie! Lol..sorry,a song popped into my head!😊 I love both bags but that main fabric on the pink one is to fun! Thanks for the share!
Omg this bag is beautiful! Thank you for the tutorial I can’t wait to make this one. May I ask where did you get your cork fabric that is on the bag you show in the intro?
No, she's not using ripstop. Water resistant canvas is like water resistant canvas, but thinner. I'm not sure exactly how ripstop compared but I have used both water resistant and waterproof canvas and the only difference I find is resistant is thinner.
Put a zipper on the bottom of the trolly sleeve. Then you can have both. A pocket but when you travel open the zipper and its a trolly sleeve.
That is such a great idea!
Fantastic idea! I’m going to try that on the next one I make.

Yay! I did miss seeing you do bigger projects! This would be a great bag for me to use as a teacher!
Yes! I can educators bag ladies!
I agree! I’ve got one cut out for myself to use as a teacher, and I have a second one planned as a Christmas gift for my child’s teacher.

Spencer Ogg has a great video on this 🥰
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve had this pattern since it was released but I’ve been too afraid to make it.
You are so great at explaining and showing how to complete the project.
I've had this pattern since it came out and this is what I needed to get with the program😍😍❤️ love your colors also
Great job walking us through the process!!! Thank you!
I love big totes like that. Thanks for sharing, Jess🥰 looking forward to your next video!
I made this bag awhile back. It does take a little time OK a lot of time but it turned out beautiful.
I would use double stick basting tape to help hold the the straps together for topstitching.
I made this bag and I love it! It holds so much!
