If the Viking offense is such a plug and play QB friendly offense then what’s the point of drafting JJ McCarthy when you can pick up a washed QB in free agency and fix him? Honestly think this is one of the few franchises that can go without a franchise QB, just a QB viable for at least 3-5 years while the window is still open and not paying a QB a boatload of money. the skill positions can get that money.
Only one problem with that. Darnold, if he keeps playing this way all year is gonna get a big payday in free agency. And if it is such a plug and play situation, then so be it, we will save that money on a rookie qb contract for 5 years, and be able to load up elsewhere.
I mean it helps having the top WR on the offense, it immediately opens up the pass to other good fast catchers. It's just the nature of how good some WR are and jefferson is a cheat code if you don't cover him.
Because Darnold probably isn't gonna get you a Super Bowl. He doesn't have the leadership attributes, instincts, overall talent that Mccarthy does. Mccarthy should be on a different level than Darnolds best.
Yup- Pack went 96 yards on 5 plays and scored in just over a minute. Amazingly soft defense in the second half and the totally conservative offense shut itself down completely. Vikes got lucky they recovered the on sides kick at the end or Kevin would have had to answer some tough questions in the postgame.
Big road win for the Vikes. And I bet Aaron Jones was loving getting 93 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving against his former team. The rejuvenation of Sam Darnold is amazing. He looks poised, confident and very comfortable in that offense.
They did run it a lot. Especially in the 2nd half. Jones had 22 carries. Only the elite rbs get that amount. They had to throw in long yardage situations after the Packers got back in the game. They wouldn’t have put that late field goal (winning) drive together in the 4th without utilizing #18.

Love threw for 390. YOu think Willis would do that? They would have been completely blown out with WIllis playing. What is messed up is your complete lack of ball IQ.
Proof you don't have to risk your franchise overpaying at one position, like 50-60 million a year for a qb. Fortify your lines and get some weapons and even a B level talent qb can perform like the elites. Darnold, Purdy, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and etc are showing this.

Yeah but if we do good then what if darnold wants to get paid, then we have a QB on his rookie deal still and can still get good free agents
Only one problem with that. Darnold, if he keeps playing this way all year is gonna get a big payday in free agency. And if it is such a plug and play situation, then so be it, we will save that money on a rookie qb contract for 5 years, and be able to load up elsewhere.
because a rookie QB is on a rookie contract.

Vikes got lucky they recovered the on sides kick at the end or Kevin would have had to answer some tough questions in the postgame.
@ifmbm332b the defense was pretty spent at the end of the 3rd.
Big road win for the Vikes. And I bet Aaron Jones was loving getting 93 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving against his former team. The rejuvenation of Sam Darnold is amazing. He looks poised, confident and very comfortable in that offense.
