Your tutorials are so easy to follow. I’ve sewn for a good 50 years now, and zippers have always “eaten my lunch”😂, so I avoid them like the plague, but since seeing how you do them, I’m much more confident with them. Thank you. This bag is perfect!!!
This bag is so cute. I had a store bought one that wore out. I was excited to find this pattern. First time I tried it I had to take the strap connector off because there was no room to add the connector on the double zipper side. So I did the top zip first then added the connector. Your tutorial is great as usual.
Hi Jess, I enjoy watching your videos and sewing along. Thank you for putting the links in each video for the supplies you used and for the tools you use. In this video, I really chuckled when you said "nom, nom" and had the tab eat its way onto the zipper. You are a joy to watch. I'd love to see more machine embroidery integrated into your purses.
I love this one, Jess! For me, practicing zipper installation is needed but having a beautiful result makes it worth it!! Thanks! Happy New Year! 🥂 (I'm making you & Babi's rum balls for NYE. 🥰)
Finally got to make it last night after all the holiday craziness! Love it! I did switch up the quilted cotton for the top. This was my first time working with little screws and I wasn’t going to even attempt it but I did and it turned out great! I’m going to make a few more for my mom and mother in law . Thanks again for explaining everything so thoroughly!
Merry Christmas Jess. I am in love with this sweet bag. I just purchased the pattern. Your instructions make it look so doable. You truly Rock. Looking forward to what you will be making in 2023.
Love this bag. I bought the pattern months ago and made one. Think I’ll make it again with some cool cork I’ve got on hand. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
I didn’t make this bag but I watched your entire video. You gave an EXCELLENT instructional video. I would never even consider making this bag, but after watching this it looks like it would be fun and easy. Thank you!
I didn’t even read the pattern; after I cut the material I just sewed along with you! I made the smaller version for a nine year old girl. I also used the decorative strap connectors on the back…turned out cute! Thank you I enjoyed this project.
This is my first kit and I'm so excited to make it. Going to watch the whole process first. I love that everything I need is included but I might switch up the outside cotton material.
I love this type of bag. I call them travel bags or vacation bags. Great to hold hotel key cards, a small amount of cash, little trinkets you bought while you were out, etc. Also, you can leave your bulky, expensive purse at home where it's safest.
I just made mine with the kit! I love it! What a fun pattern! Thank you for the video! It make it so easy! Also - I made your rum balls for the first time this year and had to make them twice because they were so popular! 💖
Just finished my version, slightly bigger 10x8”with 1 1/2 “boxed corners and a 6 1/2” slip pocket with magnetic closure on the back. Perfect size for me, will taking it to Europe in June. Thanks Jess, you are an inspiration!
Happy New Year's Eve. I am making my Zipper Bag today. Since I don't know the difference between 8.5" and 9", my pocket B will be a different color. :-)
I made this bag. It was a bit small for me (nonetheless I still carry it) as I have to carry my glasses and the kitchen sink, so I made it two inches wider on all sides and it is perfect. I made them for gifts this Christmas and they were a hit!!
I saw this tutorial for this bag and was soooo excited to make it. So, I started it. Jess, I was so confused on the measurement instructions! Would you make a tutorial in cutting the measurements, from the instructions? I am still working on the bag. I feel I cut to much material which I didn't even use. I used the D rings, and wasn't sure, where would be the best place, for placement. But, like I said, I haven't finished yet. So, we'll see.
Thank you for your videos!! I love making bags too - but may I ask - what do you do with them? I’ve got quite a collection going but need to practice 😂
I love this bag it's super cute and a perfect size with the right amount of pockets. I'm really curious about the other option you showed at the beginning with the star wars vinyl, where can I get that vinyl? I love star wars!
Thanks for your excellent explanations. I’ve just bought Sallie T. pattern. Why it’s not mentioned in the beginning of the cuttings, the hardware parts and sizes , the sizes of the zippers.. It should be in the beginning, no?..
I'm wondering... could interfacing be attached to the lining 3/4 of the way up for stability but yet less bulk at the side by the zipper when sewing the sides. Thoughts?
I'm excited to open my box and make this beauty when I get home. Does anyone know if it would hold up well if its spray painted or if you use rub n buff on them? I have a strong dislike of this shade of gold 😅 I know I could use different hardware but I'm a newbie and don't have many options in my stash 😅
I didn't think I would like the fabric choices - but it's a cute bag - the green strap works well and the colors are great. This bag, like others have said, is a bit too small - I can't get my wallet into it but then again it's an NCW so a small NCW might work but with my glass case it's a tad small. Nice bag though. Thanks for the class. I have made tons of these.
I’m new to bags. I purchased the pattern and I’m wondering if I can put D rings on so they face up or do they need to come out the sides? Probably didn’t explain that very well. I was thinking of using the cork to attach the D rings
I watch this video because I wanted to see how this bag was constructive. I have this pattern but I have not used it yet. I'm looking forward to making it. What I'm wondering is it too late to get in on the February box? It looks to me like it is but I just wondered and thought I would ask. Otherwise I guess I will have to join and wait until March.
I love your channel so much, would have to say you’re my favourite creator. I’ve been subscribed to the Oklaroots x Sallie Tomato box for 2 months now and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed. For an Australian it costs $150 and the projects are just simple beginner things. I love your channel for the bright colours, fun projects and beautiful details. But I’ll be cancelling if next month isn’t more exciting.
This may have already been answered below…if so, sorry! Just wondering if I could use quilted quilt cotton for the bottom exterior. I would quilt it first and then cut down to size…?
Hi just wanting to know that all you used is a zipper foot. Do I need a walking foot. And what needle do I need to use . Sorry just learning. . Looks fantastic.
Hi smileyjenn71 there is a link if you click more under the video for you to be able to purchase the pdf pattern from Etsy. Hope that helps. Best wishes Catherine
I just finished the bag. I learned a lot but I find it too small. With all of the pockets, it does feel a little bulky for something this small. But I loved the video. Thanks for the videos!
You mentioned that if you had a craft fair coming up that we would make these, and you believed that they would sell well. And rather new in this realm, of craft fairs, any suggestions on what I should price it at? I do live in the country, small small city, if that makes a difference..
I make cork exterior bottom (unlined) , cotton exterior top (lined with fusible fleece) and cotton interior (unlined), and webbing for the handles. They sell for $60 at craft fairs. I hope this helps you.
I’m in Canada and am thinking of joining the monthly bag club…when I followed your link it said ‘project club recharge listing x 1 $58.99 US and $0.00 for shipping, what does that mean?
Merry Christmas 🎄 very cute, can’t wait to make this! And totally weird that I even care enough to mention it, but you should check out Mr. Beasts philanthropy channel, he’s actually a very amazing person when it comes to helping people. Anyway thank you for always providing us with amazing project tutorials and PLEASE really do start taking a day off once a week! We’ll still love you just as much if you take a little more time for yourself.
I didn't see the video mentioning Mr. Beast however, I just want to throw out a caution..... There's a Mr. Beast that has conned my father in law out of thousands of dollars this year... It is still happening bc my fil won't listen to us about sending all these gift cards and money to this Mr. Beast in exchange for money and gifts. Not sure if it's the same person or someone claiming to be him but I caution people where this person is concerned... And to add... my father in law has never received anything promised to him for sending these gift cards and money.

Do you think waxed canvas would work for the bottom exterior?

Do you have any tips for me when I sew the panels on I find that as I sew they scoot over or are pushed over as I go so that things do not line up.
I made one thought I would share it with you but I’m not to familiar to entering a picture of the bag
What size zippers did she use? I’m very new to bag making, is there a standard size for purses/bags(ie: #5, #7, etc)?

My project sheet didn't tell me what size the pockets should be. Could you send me measurements for the 3 zipper pockets please
Ooops, I forgot to ask which foot are you using to sew over the zipper tab. I have a Bernina as well.
It looks like the 1/4 inch foot, 57D or 97D to sew on the zip tabs and the 4D to sew around them.
