I'm so glad you are making this tutorial. I find following your tutorials much easier than other people's tutorials because you are so thorough and explain everything so well. Thank you for making this tutorial. Jess, they make a MINI NCW too. Maybe someday you might feel inspired to make a tutorial of the mini for those of us who would want a smaller wallet. Thanks again for all your videos.
I have made around 40 of the NCW. This is the best tutorial I’ve seen... and I’ve seen many of them. Thank you for the details on turning the main body of the bag and the zipper pocket info.
LOVE the chapter time stamps! I recommend using some Fray Chek on the hole for your turn lock when the flap is cotton. Thank you for another fantastic tutorial!
I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS!!!!! I really like the other You-tubers but you are just xtra special. There are never any questions, you are thorough with instructions and your tweaks are great. Keep doing what you do, you are appreciated and respected!
Thank you! This is my 2nd try at this wallet. I threw out a part of this one just before I discovered your tutorial. It won't win any prizes but I'm not embarassed by it so....THANKS again
Okay, I just ran across you and your videos yesterday and I have to tell you, A++ on teaching, auditory, visual, clarity, content! You should teach RUclips classes! Anyway it is a real pleasure to be able to get through a full length tutorial without skipping ahead, or just tuning out. Thank you for your humor, and sharing your talents.
For Years, I've begged my hubby for a loungefly wallet... I believe that you have changed my mind. I now just want to make my own. With materials I get to pick out 😁🥰💼
Your videos are terrific! Thank you! Before Covid, I couldn't even sew a button onto my shirt, and now I own 3 sewing machines! And your videos have really helped me. I love your enthusiastic attitude and the way you explain things. I've now made 4 of these wallets, and each one is better and better. I keep referring to your videos for the step by step instructions. I wish you've have a tutorial on how to make something like the LL Bean "Boat and Tote" zipper top bag. I also bought a Kamsnaps bundle (with options) thanks to your other video, and... I love it! Thank you again!
love your video....I have made a few of these but wanted to try using the craftuse..I started another one....I used some very thin vinyl, it was fine until I tried to sew the card slots in...I'm machine refused to sew I changed my needle, didn't make a difference, then I remembered that you had used tissue paper because the vinyl was a bit sticky....that was my problem, it sewed up great with the tissue paper, your comment really helped with that....but I do have a problem...I ripped of the tissue paper and there was pieces of paper stuck between the stitches.i have no idea how to get rid of them...there must be a way...I tried a damp cloth and it looked OK only to find out when it dried, they were back..please help me ....black vinyl with white specks in the seam ruins the look of it.....tia
Well dang it. I was just looking for an easy little wallet, but now I want to make one of these for myself and everyone of my friends. They look so gorgeous!
Seriously….I have tried to make this wallet for a year and a half, and failed EVERY time! Until i did your tutorial this morning! I LOVE YOU! Thank you Jess! You make sewing so easy!!! :)
I've only recently got into making bags and find your tutorial's brilliant. I bought the NCW pattern and have just made my first NCW. Looking forward to making more of these. As a beginner I find you easy to follow along with. You explain everything step by step. Keep up the great work and thank you for your brilliant tutorials.
I got into bag making because I got tired of making masks and ran across your Clematis video. I’ve been obsessed ever since and I’ve watched many tutorials on many different bags but your videos are unequivocally THE BEST!! I’m so glad you did one the NCW. I’ve made 5 also, but am so excited to make another one following your tips
Glad to see your NCW video. Amazing pattern and another great video from you. Thank you!! I love the NCW so much that I bought the NCW regular and XL size acrylic templates from Tops and Bobbins, Inc. Makes fast and accurate cutting of materials plus nice to have a larger (25%) version for those of us who continue to carry too much stuff! Keep sharing the great patterns and your amazing tutorials. Much fun to watch.
@@OklaRoots I only recommend them to those who plan to make several of these amazing wallets either to use, or as gifts or to sell. Zipping a rotary cutter around the acrylic templates makes the boring cutting process more pleasurable. I use to make templates out of heavy marine vinyl as I worried about cutting into my paper templates over time but you can't beat the more rigid solution these templates provide. Looking forward to what you show us next!
Thank you Jess for a wonderful tutorial, I have made several of these and I have followed Siah Swag’s tutorial, she’s very amazing when it comes to bag making too, I love your enthusiasm and I appreciate your tips on making this NCW, just love the pattern !
Your tutorials are so engaging and informative. Definitely going to include this one in our subscription boxes! You do know you inspire my choices! Thank you.
I KNEW you’d have a hack for this one!!! I waited patiently for you to do this video but my fabric came first lol I love the 2 zipper system that you did and and as always that was a great video!!! I’ve made like 10 of these already but can’t wait to make it your way!
Thank you Jess for your video. I have made a NCW Wallet today - just one day!!! I couldn't have done it without your video tutorial. My next challenge is a mini NCW - and using vinyl!!! Wish me luck many thanks
I LIVE LOVE LOVE the time stamps. One of the many reasons that I prefer your tutorials over others. Just makes it so much easier when sewing along to your tutorial.
Thank you so much for all of your work in filming tutorials. I am late to discovering this NCW pattern but I love it! After watching your tutorial, I bought the pattern and couldn’t wait to try it!!
O my gosh! You enabler! As much as I've wanted to get into bag making I have been able to resist it. (Not a fan of sewing wovens) but this pushed me over the edge. Grabbed a fat quarter stack and magnet snap at joanns and used what I had on hand for everything else. Turned out amazing! I will be making more.
I dont like the open slit where you turn the wallet so when I make the slit I add a piece of double sided tape along both sides of the slit, after turning the wallet I remove the backing and seal the hole and then I dont have to worry about things sliding into the hole later when being used.
Thanks Jess for the double zipper pockets. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it and in the end it looks so simple! Love all your tricks and tips. I am halfway through one at the moment, I just love making them 😍😍
It's August 6th, 2024... I just made my first wallet and I have to PRAISE you for this fantastic video.... you are a master at 6 I LOOOOOOOVE ❤❤❤ my wallet!!! Im making it in a cross body....
Hi Jess, I have made the small ncw, and the large ncw with the double zipper pockets and with one zipper pocket. You are so correct when saying this NCW is addictive and very popular and people love them. Thanks for another tutorial on making the NCW. FYI** you need to do a add on for the ID flap to this wallet. It would make it more loveable and wantable if that is a word.
I am so glad you made this tutorial. You are so calm and explain each step well. I am going to try the craft fuse for the card slots . My card slots come out crooked and I end up not finishing the wallet.
I love your tutorials. I'm thinking about making a NCW for myself. It occurred to me that another way to lessen the bulk in that zipper side seam is to lower the zipper down to the front of the fabric. I'm not sure what they are called, a recessed zipper? Where you draw the box, cut down the center and cut out the corners. You wouldn't need zipper tabs and those little holes wouldn't be a problem. What do you think?
Just finished watching and I am loving your tips especially for bulk. I’m super excited to try this on my next day off. Thank you Jess you’re a treasure. I also love SiahSwags videos. She’s a wee gem.
If using decovil light or craftfuse for your card slot interfacing, you can use the pattern to score the lines on the back of the fused interfacing to make folding easier.
I got this pattern a couple weeks ago and had the worst time making it because it was impossible to put together at the end without rivets. I will definitely re-visit this wallet after seeing your modifications to reduce bulk! Thanks Jess!
I recently purchased a serger from Quality Sewing (I am from MN) and was very pleased with the customer service! I will purchase from them again, for sure.
I really enjoyed your NCW wallet tutorial. I took a bunch of notes while the video played. I can’t hardly wait to start my first one. I also just joined the NCW FB group. Already 18k members in the group!
Oh my gosh!!!! I have been waiting for you to do this tutorial! But ironically I fell down the NCW making and obsession literally 1 week before you announced you were going to do them! 😂😂 as always tho this tutorial did not disappoint and there were some pieces you really helped me with!! So the last one I did I used a you tube tutorial that showed how to use WPC for the card slots. GAME CHANGER!! And since I know how much you love WPC I thought I would throw that out there! Thank you so much,Jess, for all the love you put into helping us all with our sewing obsession!!! Watching these makes me feel like you are a friend I have known forever! ❤️❤️❤️

wow thats beautiful your tutorial on the ncw is definately the best i have seen clearly explained everything from start to finish going make some of these as gifts i love this pattern thank you for the tutorial its just the best
I have already purchased the pattern, and sat down and watched your video. I am looking for a clutch that will have the carry capacity of this wallet and someplace to put my phone. Thank you for this video and your change-ups with the explanations.
I put a zipper in that lined center divider, and put card slots on both outer sides. I have also added a crossbody strap. I have made two, and it is a truly great pattern! Very versatile.
the best tutorial Jess, hand down any day, thankyoua lot more detail on how to do it easier, your NCW is beautiful when I did the double zipper, i opened one of the zips and topped stitched the other one through the open zipper, was easier to get to , I like Kassiah of SiahSwags video she is so precise and doesnt rush her sewing, I also like Serenity of Ren Puffinberger, she shows an easier way to do card slots and to attach the card slots and pockets with out having the "box stitching" showing on the outside which i think looks nicer with out all the stitching showing
Thank you for the great tutorial. I made my first NCW this week and used your techniques. Thankfully, I attached the card pockets first like you suggested because my piece of snap on the body had to be moved over about and 1/8th inch and I could do it (clumsily, painfully) from the slit in the lining under the pocket panel. I learned a lot and look forward to more of your tutorials.
This tutorial made an overwhelming project into a very manageable one. I made one all cotton and SF101 just to see how it works, then a second with vinyl for the flap and exterior. That double zip pocket is genius! Thank you so very much, off to cut a few more :)
I just started making bags and made my first bag for my daughter last week and it came out great. I did though break a needle sewing over the zipper. How do you sew over metal zippers? I see so many tutorials doing it successfully. Thank you for the great tutorials, you are an awesome teacher. Cant wait to make this clutch for my wife from some old designer jeans I have.
I've been watching your videos for a little bit now trying to get back into sewing. I've forgotten so much. Your tutorials are very clear and I'm starting to loose my fear. Do you sell your bags ?
I have this pattern on order, but I can really appreciate the idea of using rivets on the finishing steps of this clutch. Those presses you have are just gorgeous, and look incredibly useful and consistent, where did you source them from?
I have made 6 total. I am almost done with #7, this one I want to try the double zippers. I have made two out of Nebraska Huskers fabric, flowers, Mickey, butterfly love the pattern and I am getting faster. I still go back to the videos just to make sure. You arer good at what you do . Thanks for the videos Sherilyn
One comment about the totally quilt fabric created NCW. There are some designers, like Vera Bradley, who use nothing but quilted fabric. Totally professional, and somewhat pricey. For some people, that is just their flavor. 😉
OMG - thanks for the video. I made my first one this weekend but I laughed aloud after I watched the rivet bit and put mine in when you said ‘The first couple of times it may take you a couple of hours’....... it took me about 6 hours..... and I still haven’t picked all tissue paper out of the seams! Quite a few things to improve on but I’m happy with my effort - B+! :-)
Loooove!!! I can see why these are addictive. I love how the moon turn lock looked like the helmet of the trooper! Also loved seeing those your tips. ;0) But could you please have like a three week session of doing nothing but cleaning? Cuz then maybe I’d actually do it too.
I am having trouble with the turn lock. The screws seem to short. Can you give advise? I used vinyl for the front of flap and cotton/with decovil light for lining. Thank you. I love your helpful demonstrations. You are very talented
Oh Jess I need a very beginner pattern for bag making. I have made a few quilted bags, but I would love to make real bags but my little cheap Walmart brother struggles with just quilting and piecing. I can make quilted bags but it even struggles with zippers. Having said that I feel blessed to have it. I just started learning to quilt last January in 2020. I started just piecing by hand and I quickly said with a big H no. Lol I am not trying to be any Laura I galls pioneer. Lol Hope I can be a bag maker some day. Love it.
Could you possibly make the decovil light for the front flap smaller than the flap itself, that way it keeps the bulk out of the seams and makes top stitching easier?
I’d rather have a video from you Jess than anyone else ever! You have a magical way of teaching and I love your tutorials!
Awwww thank you!
Please do us a video. 😍
Agree. What's more, Jess doesn't tell you you need this fancy tool and this expensive something. Very encouraging

When I make a NCW I always use piece of RFID fabric behind the card slots before the card slot backing is closed up. I get the RFID Fabric on Amazon.

Is it easy to work with and reasonably priced?
Yes, you can cut it with scissors and Mark on it with pencil or chalk. One thing though it is expensive for a small amount .

I have made 6 total. I am almost done with #7, this one I want to try the double zippers. I have made two out of Nebraska Huskers fabric, flowers, Mickey, butterfly love the pattern and I am getting faster. I still go back to the videos just to make sure. You arer
good at what you do . Thanks for the videos Sherilyn
One comment about the totally quilt fabric created NCW. There are some designers, like Vera Bradley, who use nothing but quilted fabric. Totally professional, and somewhat pricey. For some people, that is just their flavor. 😉
This wallet is Super Cute!! I think I will have to add this to my list!! Thank you for a Great Video!!!!!!!
Ok, love your enthusiasm! I know the feeling when you create something yourself!
I made this yesterday. Loved how it turned out. Thank you!
Great tutorial. Every time you learn a short cut. ❤️
Great tutorial! Can’t wait to make this one! Waiting for my rivet press and hardware to come in!
Making my first one today! I have to jump into the NCW hype! 😂
If you use pinking shears to trim the seam allowance of the interior/exterior part, the curves really turn out nice.
You hit it out of the park with this one! Thank you for the great tips!
That vinyl is beautiful!!! Love you videos!!!
Loooove!!! I can see why these are addictive. I love how the moon turn lock looked like the helmet of the trooper!
Also loved seeing those your tips. ;0)
But could you please have like a three week session of doing nothing but cleaning? Cuz then maybe I’d actually do it too.
Errrr glue tips - my phone autocorrect hates me.
Hahaha honestly I probably need to spend 3 weeks cleaning, it’s getting out of control in here
I LOVE this tutorial on the NCW. I finally got me some zipper coil and slides. Can you do a tutorial on how to put them together? I’m all thumbs. Haha
I love your enthusiasm.. I will definitely make one of these.. ❤❤
I love your tutorials. They’re so detailed 👍🏻
Thank you!
Great tutorial Jessica as usual. If I wanted to add a tab for a wristlet strap where would you suggest and at which step would you add this?
Love it.
I love this wallet. It took me such a long time to make my first one but I love it. So happy Jessica made a video !!!!
Could you possibly make the decovil light for the front flap smaller than the flap itself, that way it keeps the bulk out of the seams and makes top stitching easier?
