I bought some nice RAM ages ago and there just wasn't a straightforward guide for me to follow so I don't spent a ton of time OC-ing. This is the video I was basically waiting for! Thank you, I will probably give this a go this weekend!
I've been waiting so much for the video. I love your content!
Thanks for the tutorials man thanks for the help, im really new to the overclock scene my first time doing it.. got new rig 6 months ago with rtx 3090 and 5900x cpu and 3600mhz ram kit cl14... i got my ram running at 3800mhz with cl15 stable after doing the memtest for 2.5 hours no errors and on Aida64 i got 7000 difference on copy and other stuff and latency drop from 65 to 55 which is awesome! and with PBO settings i got my 5900 at the same settings as you boost to 5.1ghz on short periods but boost a lot higher with 2k more score on cinebench
Thanks! Spend about 10 hours for everything to get right
Thank you my guy, I asked and you delivered. Much appreciated!
been waiting for this vid ty :0
Offset mount on Arctic Liquid Freezer II is actually better in terms of temp for Ryzens, it's intended that part of IHS is not covered, this is done to get AIO fin stack directly on top of CCDs to get better temps.
did this again on new kit. recently picked up a PNY XLR8 4000mhz for my ryzen 5800x. Had trouble getting fclk to 2000 at 1:1:1 but i remembered this video and after a few hours have it running 4000mhz xmp @ 2000mclk, fclk, uclk. with 115-15-15-36. thanks for this vid.
Damn, I've been waiting for an AMD guide and you just upload it on my birthday 😍 Thanks Chris ❤
happy birthday
@@crazypvpHow thank you bro
thank you Chris you a legend!
I dig the beard, thank for the guide man
Freethy thank you for everything!
i have looked at my 5900x cores score on ctr tuner, seen that the first 6 were much better than the other 6 so with all core negative i can just have a stable -5 but i can have -15 on the first 6 and -5 in the other weaker cores so i think it could be worth wasting just a bit of time playing with per core tuning. Great tutorial, thanks!
always coming back to you for pc help! I am kinda stuck and don't want to move on until I get this figured out. In Thaiphoon Burner when looking for the Die Type to put in the DRAM calculator the DRAM MANUFACTURER says "Samsung" JEDEC RAW CARD DESIGNER says "SK Hynix", die count is single. Which Memory Type would I select? I already exported the file into the DRAM calculator and its on Samsum-B Die but I don't think the file set it to that one, i believe B-Die was still selected by default when started up the calculator. Sorry I don't have any knowledge when it comes to OC which is why I have only been watching your vids. I did the PC optimization and gpu OC now I am looking to OC the CPU... just don't know which one to select and I can't find any help elsewhere online. Thanks again!
i appreciate ur vidzz so much man!! i guess u couldv just done multiple parts of same topic but i can watch the full 45min
The legend has uploaded
great review, mmmy mannn.
Any tips for tweaking C-die? I was the unlucky recipient of some 3600 CL18 and can’t seem to tighten up the timings at all.
19:08 Put in all the timings from the calculator or just the middle section & voltage?
Are programs like process lasso still necessary for 5000 series AMD cpu's to set affinity for games like cs go?
Hey Chris, have you test CTR? Interested to see you mess with that vs PBO!
Good stuff!
I have a couple questions:
Is Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus Daisy chained or T-topoloy?
I have 4x8gb Corsair CMWX8GD3600C18W2D are they B-die? (can't find them anywhere).
I have Vengeance LPX RAM. I know it's not good for overclocking but would I still be able to change the timings to have something a little bit faster?
Also, what type of die do they have? I've been searching for an hour and I can't find anything
Hello Chris and everyone here. Thank you very much for all the efforts to put this and all previous videos together.
Was wondering if this could apply to gaming laptops? Maybe in future, appreciate if you could have a video specifically to optimise/OC/etc for laptop users.
when I go to the pbo in settings nothing seems to change, but on the other hand, when I go to the one under OC the settings for pbo is locked at “enabled” and wont let me change it to advance or nothing.
thank ya
Bro, if you are into tweaking the computers so much. Why don't you do direct die on a big cooler like a dark rock pro or nh d15 with using liquid metal and also lapping the die and cooler. That's what I have done with my 5800x and temps are a good 15-20 degrees cooler. Need to ensure that you have more mounting pressure with washers to press that cooler down onto the die.
If you have really low temps could you push higher with a positive curve ? I have an Arctic cooler 420mm
oof I just upgraded to a 5900X :) I got the B550 Unify-X mobo per the advice of Buildzoid from Actually Hardcore Overclocking. I'm able to run mine at -30 curve no worries, really great CPUs!
are you gonna make a video on stuff you can get for chrismas
At 24 min you state some of these have bad write and copy....thats a misunderstanding
These differences are because of singel CCD vs dual CCD, and the copy and write speeds you are referring to are definitely not bad for singel CCD 5600x and 5800x
I think it would be better to make a copy of this sheet to your drive and filter for your cpu if your looking for comparison
5900x and 5950x are dual CCD, you know 8 cores per CCD 2x 16 cores max....so you get almost double write speed but it also introduces a memory latency because of communication between the CCDs
And for those OCing ram make sure to use more ram stress test than just TM5 because this dosent find all unstablities
Run good old memtest overnight which is included with dramcalc, Linpack X and karhu as well

So should I do the old video u posted the amd bios guide video first before I do this recent one?
yo bro i was just wondering if you would be bale to show what you meant with the arctic liwuid freezer not being on properly
Hey guys, got a question on where to put one of the timings "tRFC" and "tRFC alt". My board has Trfc, Trfc2, and Trfc4. Would I put the "tRFC alt" number in tRFC 2 and tRFC 4? Thanks in advance
Leave them at auto, only change the tRFC.
Is higher freq more worth for amd 7 3700x?
And is PBO more worth for gaming than auto OC?
thank you
with overclock boost off I can go put to 3800mhz on my 3200 16. But when I try to use boost my pc crashes with cpu error light on. any help pleas
Ah that daisy chain now makes sense to me. I have the same board as you and I cant push it above 3700mhz with 4x8
My memory clock is 1699.5 and my fclk is 1700 is that fine? Or do should they be exactly the same?
i cant install ryzen master, reinstalling wont work and setting my bios to default doesnt work either.. 3900x
I hope that we get bios tweak for gigabyte motherboards 🙏🙏
I am running 3700x stock with 3200mhz CL22 JEDEC ram, how much improvement would I see if I go from this ram to 3600mhz CL16 ?
i can just change the freq of my adata memory from 3200mhz to 3466mhz, but i got no luck with timings, either bios won't boot(i have to turn off pc and wait 2 minutes for it to just run bios) or windows won't boot(tried to access rom memory/kernel security infringment bsod) if i try for 3600mhz. pc ran with 3466mhz with 3600mhz config(so i could see 3466 timing configs so i could dial those in). i dialed those and now pc won't boot into bios... i still didn't get it how to change the timings(3466mhz with no timings change is stable)
Mad props for all your tweaking guides etc, with regards to hardware ÄMD"specific, your definitely not stating true facts entirely.... I run 4x8 in a daisy chain dual rank dual channel config... i got do 3600/ 1800 cl12 at 1.62V and 3800 / 1900 cl14 i know 4000 / 2000 is possible on 5000 series.... will need to try my kit on that when i upgrade CPU
Hey FR33THY, good video for people who start out with overclocking! I can tell you put a lot of effort in this
I want to mention some extra information regarding PBO Overclock and Curve optimizer.
For PBO undervolting, if your putting -25 all core on a 16 core 32 thread CPU with 2 ccx you absolutely going to find instability in the future. Especially on +200Mhz Boost.
There are 1 best core and 1 good core on each ccx.
Those best cores are most of the time - 0 - 15 max and most other cores can be undervolted more unless your unlucky or the mhz boost is to high.
There are 2 best cores in both ccx in 5950 which can do the least undervolting which sounds contradictory but it is.
Those will most likely crash and give a WHEA error in your event log named by "APIC - ID", which you can check in
CPU-Z>About>Save Report. "APIC ID 4 will be -- Core 2 (ID 2) -- Thread 4 4 & -- Thread 5 5 for me (5600x). This means Core 2 so not 0 or 1 will need more voltage.
This is how you find which core is needing more voltage.
If your PBO limits are very high then it's easy to find, for example if my 5600x boosts 4650 all core under load (4650 is max default) then the limits are high, if it boosts to like 4200-4400Mhz it's limited by your PBO settings or temps and harder to find the cores that need more voltage.
I use OCCT>CPU
Data set large
Mode Extreme
Load type Variable
Threads Auto
Keep an eye on your temps if PBO limits are high.
Most of the time it gives errors within 30 mins if your clock speeds are going to max or very near, if it doesn't like on limited PBO you can run TM5 while running OCCT and it spikes up, do this often a few seconds and then again.
If I missed anything or any questions about CPU/Ram Overclocking feel free to add/ask I might be able to help if I remember this post
So what are your settings for a 5600x ? I have the same CPU coupled with a b550 tomahawk
same i got 5600x what are your settings
@@claytonbrown4936 It doesn't matter every setup is different, it might not be stable for others.
1. Pbo limits: PPT 102W / TDC 65A / EDC 90A.
2. Positive 100 Mhz Max Cpu boost override.
3. Curve optimizer: All Negative of course
Core 0 = 30
Core 1 = 30
Core 2 = 5
Core 3 = 25
core 4 = 30
core 5 = 30
Things to note, I have overclocked my ram so things will probably be if it was xmp settings.
@@dannykerdel9217 ty was alot of help I changed a cpl things but I'm getting 4.7-4.8 I did everything you wrote down except I did all cores neg 15 seems to be my spot Temps are steady around 62-65 have had occt running now for 30 mins going to let it go a full hr testing again ty very much ooooo when I run cenabench it only bost to around 4.5 4.6 on all cores why is that and its steady 4.7 -4.8 on occt .... brand new to this stuff my first pc ever and I built it all my self watching vids and ready and stuff next is oc my ram
O and I did plus 200 instead of 100 mhz and tried all cores neg 25 but errors within the first cpl mins so I went to neg 15
so what memory type does "Die Density / Count
8 Gb / 1 die" still samsung B die? Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb x2 Manufacturer
Samsung
Followed the guide went for 3733 with all the timings from a safe calculate and now my pc is black screen and can’t get to bios or anything, I have 2x8gb 3600 g skill ripjaw cl16
i dont know if its my cpu(ryzen 5 5600x) but with defualt PBO on my cpu gets hot temps and stutters
If you have a 5600x or 5800x Per Core is worth it (less cores). On my 5800x with 200mhz boost:
All Core stable = 8
Per Core stable = 30, 14 (best core*), 30, 15 (2nd best core*), 30, 30, 8, 30 (just doing increments of 5)
I've found the best way to find errors is by editing the Extreme1anta777.cfg config in TM5 to keep cycling through test 1 and using Task Manager to set the affinity to test per core/thread. Letting it run per core for about 5mins will almost always find any errors so it doesn't take long. This test lines up nicely with the WHEA errors (in Event Viewer) I was getting when I first used Curve Optmizer.
*according to Ryzen Master
So far I've also settled on PPT 120, TDC 95, EDC 122 to lower stock temps by around 5-10 degrees. I have a 2009 NH-D14.
In games I hover around 4900-5050mhz, up from 4850 max at stock
Easy for you, you have cl19 4400mhz 8gb single rank 2x8gb or 4x8gb try G Skill Trident Z Neo Rgb cl14 3600mhz 4x8gb and overclock it to cl14 3800mhz 4x8gb. I did it with the G Skill Flare X cl14 3200mhz 4x8gb overclocked to cl14 3800mhz at 1.50 volts on a Ryzen 9 5900x. Cinebench r23 mc 23,348 no curve optimizer no undervolting llc on auto all I did was enable PBO on the Advance tab manually found my limits PPT 195 TDC 130 EDC 140 set the thermal limit manually to 90c cooling the CPU a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.Black with the 7mm offset brackets to make it cooler idles at 27c and never goes above 65c probably because the AC in my room is on 68 degrees 24/7 ram idles at 23c never goes over 27c in gaming or benchmarks it is totally stable.
do i have to buy ada64 the trai version doesnt show me all the results when i bench mark someone please help??
Tried everything couldnt get thaiphoon burner to open for me
anyone know how to download thaiphoon burner? every link is now saying its a virus or something and alot of threads on it people saying they cant get it anymore
My 5800x literally does not boot every time I try PBO :(
Not booting after changing ram timings. Don't know what to do since can't revert settings as bios won't load
Try removing the cmos battery on the motherboard. Wait a couple of minutes and then turn on your computer. The Bios will revert back to default settings.
🤘
Will this affect my cs performance into better
Dual-rank explanation was not entirely correct but thou art forgiven.
How can I get the best performance out of my Ryzen 7 1700
i have ryzen 5 4600h but it says unsupported cpu
Do not forget to test your ram (with memtest5 + anta extreme profile) with furmark together, especially if you have rtx 3**** card. Otherwise - oc can be unstable in gpu heavy games.
I’ve had RAM that wasn’t even really overclocked cause the NVIDIA driver to crash multiple times before (making me initially think there was an issue with the GPU). It’s very important to not only test RAM vigorously before sayings it’s stable, but also to do it under high temperatures (like a full load on CPU and GPU too). Also not cranking the VRAM too high is a good thing. At some point the error correction kicks in and lowers performance without always causing crashes.
Just get a ram fan.
@@th3truth_ even with a fan it is hard to sustain low temps for stable extreme overclock but yeah it def helps
@@BadRusMan i oc'ed my crucial rev e 3000mhz cl15 kit to 3800 c14, with 1.48v. It is stable im tm5, occt ram test with heaven looped. Also stable in games. And pefromance boost is insane.

wat fps you get ?

Do you have a video for Warzone settings?
He does actually but it’s quite a while back. Not sure if it is still applicable.
ruclips.net/video/ZniUnqE7RlY/видео.html there you go.
what's a decent voltage for single core peak on zen 3?
depends on how heavy the load is, 1.45 for light tasks is fine but 1.45 for heavy not. there it's most likely max 1.3v. Pbo also shows behavior like this. Depends on how you overclock it
Can increasing dram voltage help against ram errors in tm5?
It can, just be careful, don't go over 1.5V for Samsung B-Die, others maybe 1.4V
@miles Increased the voltage a while back and it did make my timings stable.
my write, copy and latency is 'TRIAL VERSION'. nice XD
Use a crack version if u dont wanna pay
have you ditched the 10900k? don't do that, I just returned a 5900x, because I found the PBO very unstable and how it handles the frequencies... the 10900k, on the other hand, is very stable, with its 5.2 all the time
that's how ryzen works lol to cool down and rise again
I guess my gskill z neo is trash. Tried many variations and can only run docp or non docp. 5950x and 3080 ftw3 ultra all water cooled. X570 dark hero mobo. 4x8gb gskill trident z neo 3600 c16. No luck 😞
is it 16-19-19-39 kit? if so, that's not b-die and has typically a big silicon lottery oc ing wise. for micron-based ram, better to just go with crucial ballistix.
The only thing I’m struggling with is the TRFC I’ve got page 1 2 3
What board do you have? On DRAM calculator it says Trfc and Trfc alt., I personally disregard Trfc alt. and set Trfc1, 2 and 3 to the same Trfc value the calculator gave me
Trfc will or will not scale with voltage depending on the IC (something like b-die is best and can run very low Trfc and scales with DIMM voltage) and helps a lot with latency and fps for games. So it really depends on what ram kit you have. If ryzen master doesn't help you there you can take a look at your xmp Trfc value and lower it a little bit because we don't know yet which IC your ram kit have. If that works then try even lower until it gives errors at TM5 or freezes your pc, up it by like 10-20 then it'ill we most likely good but test it again ofcourse
i cannot load testmem5. it gives errors
what did you do before that?
My B550 Taichi settings my soc voltage to 1.9v on auto settings. I have 4x8GB of 3600mhz Bdie memory. Is this a safe voltage for my 5900X? I can get it stable at 1.05v stock, but I'd rather keep it on auto.
Please post about Intel system.
you ppt ttc and edc way to high.. u should of dialed in ur curve 1st with the motherboard voltages got that stable then do default 142 95 140 I think and bring those up
Fun most annoying part is when my bios gets reset xD
Will this actually improve imput lag?
fps, latency, throughput. everything
Only if you are not bootlenecked with your gpu.
@@th3truth_ is it noticeable?
@@aerose5868 ofc it is, especially if you play at 1080p low settings
