- The best way to get the most performance out of your Zen 2 Ryzen 3rd Gen CPUs! Not a fixed overclock nor is it just a PBO and memory overclock.
This is using the EDC bug trick and as well as overclocking the BCLK for increased performance in both multi-core and single-core loads. This applies an increased partial load clockspeed increase as well, helping boost real world application performance that usually neither use only a single core or all cores.

Thanks for the video mine TDC 3600 was 52 while running cinebench 20 it put 72 in bios and while stress testing it only went upto 60 so it is safe I am assuming

It's so difficult to do a "catch-all" how to OC Zen 2 guide, as there are so many variables. Silicon fitness, number of CCDs, the setup's cooling efficiency.... I think you've provided insight into a very different approach, namely, using Amperate and Wattage limiters to cap multi-core loads, but still leave enough Voltage to help with lightly threaded tasks. Very, very interesting.
Unfortunately, this approach has poor results on my single CCD R5 3600, which in my case sees the best overall improvement with a static OC. PBO just doesn't cut it.
Context: older X370 board (Prime Pro), 280mm Arctic Freezer Liquid, Corsair case with overkill ventilation.

While making this I also thought about how this type of overclock would be mostly useful on the dual CCD high core count CPUs that have a significant amp and wattage increase in all core loads compared to low loads. Like you said a single CCD 6-core Ryzen 3600 benefits from a fixed clock, partly due to its low stock maximum boost ceiling as well.
Sweet Jesus, you have fixed my boost problem in my 3800x. I have a gigabyte b550 so it was nice to follow along. The lowest I could go for was -.06 but the cores can now boost to 4.5 and sometimes 4.6 on some cores with temps under 58c. Thank you for this guide

ik itss been few years but since this was posted helped me get ride of my cpu bottle neck in star citizen got my 3900xt back in 2020 been a grate cpu decided to look into oc after seeing all the cool am5 cpus it is a overclocking edition or at least i assume thats what the xt means got it paird with 4000mhz t force ram got it set to 3733 and custom tight timnngs gained a good 20% in some benchmarks
How do I get ryzen master installed. It keeps crashing or something and won't boot. I kept reinstalling it but nothing works. Is it because I manually oc my bios?
what risk it take from OverClock BCLK ??? is it safe if i set it to 100.2 - 100.9 mhz ??

I'm using 3740 16-23-23-46-72-1T now. Hynix CJR Team Dark 2x16GB 3600MHz ram modules.
Unfortunately my 3900x on a asus x570 hero failed to boost after using these settings (mainly after I raised the bclk) Also, my TDC and EDC just stay at around 84 anps. What am I missing? I ended up just doing an all core 4.2 Ghz overclock at 1.325v. Temps good…..system stable.
Thanks, I tried this with BCLK 101.00 Mhz, but every time I set my BCLK to a value different than exactly 100.00 Mhz (the factory default), my CPU stops boosting and works at its base clock of 3.70 Ghz. Well, 3.737 Ghz to be exact due to the BCLK adjustment. I think followed the guide to a tee so I don't know why it stops boosting when I change the BCLK from default. My specs are - Threadripper 3970x, Asus ROG Strix TRX40-E Gaming flashed with the latest BIOS, 64 GB RAM 3600 Mhz CL16, Windows 10 Pro ver. 2004. Any ideas how to make it boost when changing BCLK from the default of 100.00 mhz?
I think that on your particular board Asus doesn't allow precision boost when increasing the BCLK. You would be better off just using the EDC bug trick and leaving BCLK at 100mhz.

@@bgtubber i kinda forget to mention about the Threadripper CPUs but with those you should set a higher PPT and TDC than what I mentioned so something like 300 and 280 would be a start then find a good setting that won't throttle in cinebench but will stop it from overheating.

So I've set the same settings in my BIOS as yours. However, why is my CPU running at 1.4v to 1.5v, even while idling at times. Am I missing something?

@@OTechnology but my temps get high as well when running P95. When I look at your temps and clocks, they look better than mine when running P95 and I'm even running an EK 360 AIO. I wonder if my AIO is defective since I was running an h100i that kept my temps cooler for some reason.
Would these speeds be visible in games? I tried locking my cpu to 4.45 and didn’t see those speeds on warzone. But regular pbo manages to hit those speeds no problem.
What do you mean by locking the CPU to 4.45? Like a manual fixed OC?

Hi, i just overclocked my ryzen 3600 via BIOS, and when i checked task manager, my cpu just stay on max clockspeed. is it normal? This is my first overclocking, please respon
Yes that's what happens when you do a fixed clock overclock

Nicely made video, couldnt replicate on my Asus board. :( With lapped custom water loop and lapped 3900x, I can increase the power draw just fine :P but that really gives a heavy boost penalty because of heat.
* edit, disclaimer, my chip never hits 4,65 on stock xmp + pbo enabled, might just be a dud
Wow really? I'm on a Noctua NH-D15 cooler so your CPU should be running cooler than mine. Did you try adding a negative voltage offset or changing the PBO scalar?
@@OTechnology I can offset the voltage about -0.3v before it becomes unstable FCLK1900/3800mhz cl14 memory.
But getting 1900fclk is hard in itself, disabling SB spread spectrum helps alot. If i open the window and get water temp to 15c, PBO boosts to 4.25ghz, without any of the mods in the video :p 10x scalar or 4x scalar seems to give the same results. After the 5000 series has come, I'm just gunning the 3900x for all it can take. Might have to buy MSI or gigabyte mobo next time :p
@@DKTAz00 My CPU can't do 1900 FCLK period. Max I could get it to is 1880MHz with a 103MHZ BCLK. I see what you mean, so with your greater cooling you're just getting more boost speeds by default already. That's certainly interesting and something I think I want to try now lol. Mind telling me your load temperatures?
@O!Technology Load temp (CBR20) without attempting the pbo trick are 65-66c, water temp 30c. If I set TDC 135, PPT 193, it gets to 74-75c.
but also drops all core boost from 4150 to 3800 ish.
It will idle at 33-35c, with the occasional jump to 50c ccd0.
@@DKTAz00 that's very weird behavior. Even though the stock settings are lower temp that means its power limited so unlocking the power should let it boost higher even if its a bit hotter. My cpu runs fastest with all the limits unlocked and all the tricks I did.
Does anybody has a 4650g or 4750g? I have a 4650g and PBO works only on manual settings. When i out it to Auto it Drops my cpu to 400 MHz.

Not a big fan of bclk overclocking. Introduces too many variables into the mix. Prime 95 is not a realistic stress tester. It stresses the CPU well beyond anything you may daily your rig with. Realbench is a more real-world scenario.

@@OTechnology I disabled all boost options, both PBO & core boost on my MSI X570 MEG ACE couple of months ago to see how is the stock performance of my R9 3900X @ 3,800 GHz if it is enough or not for daily operations, SVI2 TFN voltage = 1,137V and the maximum temperature was only 55,5C with the CPU cooler @ 800 rpm
haha EDC to 1 and Global disabled talk about a recipe to brick your system...not worth the risk if you actually need your computer LOL.
Funny it worked for over a year without issues.
