  • Learn how to make a perfect backswing and avoid 3 of the biggest mistakes that nearly every golfer makes.
    You will learn how to take the golf club away in the backswing. The first move in the backswing we call the golf swing takeaway. For many golfers learning to get a great backswing takeaway feeling can transform the overall look and simplicity of your golf swing.
    The downswing in golf takes just half a second to complete leaving you very little time for your body to adjust to mistakes you may have made in your golf backswing. If you can learn to perfect aspects like the golf swing takeaway and then know to how the body and the wrists work complete your golf swing the golf downswing becomes almost automatic.
    In this weeks golf lesson you will learn how to develop the feel necessary to do it every time with your driver swing and your iron swing. More importantly you will learn how to avoid 3 of the biggest backswing mistakes in golf

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
    Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
    I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
    On RUclips and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
    Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

    hi Danny, I started to watch your videos a couple of months ago and watching them I'm beginning to build up a good feeling of what I'm dooing (may it be wrong or right), I can now understand much better what a swing basically is (or should be), and I got much more aware of how I swing. Thanks to you my golf improved a lot ! keep on the good work, I'm looking forward for your next videos :-)

    I am a senior golfer 71 years old and a 12 handicap at 6,000 yards. This is the best 10 minutes of instruction I have ever had. I -practiced the drills for about 30 minutes and then played 18 holes I made the best ball contact ever, seriously. I added 8-15 yards per club. Another benefit was the ball went straighter than ever. I hit 14 greens in regulation, 3 of my misses were long. Thank you so much for this video. Love your instruction. Jerry

    All ways enjoying your Saturday lessons. After nearly 50 years of golf I started avweek ago what you show in mistake no 3. My Irons and Woods goes as straight as ever before.

    Great video! I have added a bit front leg lean to my irons that has produced excellent strikes, from better ball compression. It also puts my backswing in the proper location, so my hits are far more consistent. My chin tells me when my shoulder is in the right spot, and then I fire away.

    Great video! On the first point (as this is something I struggle with), the swing thought that really helps me is to think about the backswing being a curve that loops around my spine and back towards the target, not just a straight 2D line (which is what you see when people draw plane lines). This helps me rotate both arms and shoulders around my spine and avoid them getting too flat. This thought really helped me a lot so much help some others too.

      @Rich can you explain this a bit more please? "initial move in the downswing is down and towards the camera".

    • @Rich-in6ds
      @Rich-in6ds 2 года назад

      @@GlennCorbet I was about to and saw that Dan above just articulated better than I ever could. The point is we often see swing plains drawn in 2D and they’re not a straight line, it’s actually a loop. Technically it’s not a perfect circle but thinking about it in that way really helps me to rotate more on-plane. The thought I personally have in my head is the thought of twisting up and around my head/spine and back towards the target but find whatever works for you.

    • @Rich-in6ds
      @Rich-in6ds 2 года назад

      @@DanielMaude thanks Danny! Do you have any advice for an over-the-top move in the transition that ONLY materialises when hitting a ball? I have a practice swing that looks like that of someone with half my handicap but when I put a ball down my brain just wants to throw my hands in a straight line at it. So incredibly hard to stop it despite watching every guide on the internet on OTT moves 😫 It feels psychological- like my brain forgets the club head is actually at an angle from my hands/arms and swings the arms at the ball, not the club head.

    Danny - another great video. A lot of us as we get older are just not as flexible. On the backswing we get in the correct position only to then lift up in an attempt to swing further back and get too steep and out of position; lots of compensations occur consciously and unconsciously to compensate to complete the task. I think it would be interesting to show how even a "shorter" backswing in the correct position can deliver much better results. In other words, shorten the backswing, slight pause, then fire through. Swing within yourself for better consistency.

    I think I am number 2 Danny. I always want to hit through the ball and try to promote rotation to do this effectively. Things often go well when I shorten the swing but then when I want to get better and lengthen the swing it becomes less consistent. As you often say, and in this great video too, it's all about getting an easy swing. When I want to go back and get it right I always return to your effortless swing video and let the weight and momentum of the club promote the swing. Things always improve then. Work for the range.

    Hello Danny. For issue #1 I have found that as I start my back swing I make sure that the front of my lead shoulder points at, and then just passes the ball. Same result as you but the shoulder point gives me something concrete to focus on. Just a thought!
    Thanks again for another great vid.

    I really like your your Saturday videos and have benefited from them. I always try to get the practice plans, but lately they have not been available at the same time the videos. I try to find them later, but so far have been unsuccessful. Where do I find them if they are not available with the video release?

    You have a sweet swing Danny. Thanks for the tips. I especially like the hips like a piston tip. You talked about that in another video and it made rotation if you will very simple for me.

      @@DanielMaude This part of my swing is finally fixed! I was combining excessive shoulder rotation in the backswing with a forward lead shoulder lean on the downswing which caused me to steepen even more so by the time I rotated all the way around my swing I was inside out which was causing my slice.

    Hi Danny, your videos are awesome. Big fan here & subscriber from the USA. Biggest mistake I make is under-rotating my backswing. End up crushing the ball WAY left OR unconsciously not rotating my hands properly through the ball to compensate for timing problem now created. In the latter case the distance suffers - divot points left, ball goes straight but short. The latter is by far my #1 swing fault.

    Great video. Is this swing applicable to irons and a driver? Thanks in advance.

    Great vid Danny. Why are there not enough swing lessons on YT explaining the desired distance to stand from the ball - too close or too far? Often I see setup n ball position. This 3 mistakes are great content to ensuring I can "swing thru" with my irons now..thank you

    Enjoyed the lesson again Danny. Something that I'm a bit unsure about in the backswing is the right elbow. Is it strictly no less than 90 degree angle at the top of the swing, the bigger the angle the better( more than 90)? Or does it not really matter too much.

  • @ajr3553
    @ajr3553 2 года назад

    for me the maintaining of the 2angles i.e shaft to forearm and wrist set the taking this away seems to work well.

    I spent years practicing in my garage, and unbeknownst to me, developed a very flat, inside backswing (subconsciously trying to avoid the overhead door openers)! Ugh, it's now horribly ingrained. So much so that I had quit the game for years. I started back a few years ago, and I've been fighting the flat inside swing. I can play it, but I lose distance. Your drill about turning back and looking up to the sky over my trail shoulder is a great "feel" for where the club should be. Sometimes I actually hit balls in play that way, turning my head back down, but it's not good for consistency... still, it's a highly effective "feel".... I have spent recent years practicing indoors with Callaway foam practice balls and mirrors... but nothing was really working out on the golf course... but doing that drill during my practice swing, has had a huge impact in just the week or two that I've adopted it!

    Hi Danny, "Lightbulb moment"... My feel is that I start my downswing with my lead shoulder, (pulling the club by using my lead shoulder,) and do not fire the trail shoulder down as you say in this vid.
    As a result I get a variable ball strike - sometimes good, and some times bad. Do you think this could be the reason..? Great Vid - still going strong - thanks once again.
