Great lesson Danny! I will sometimes tie a shoestring to two tees, and place a tee on either side of the ball and behind it, so that the string is flush with the ground, but just behind the ball. It forces me to make ball first contact, to avoid hitting the string. As always thanks for all the info! I meet with a tour player later today to map out my road to playing on the senior tour someday. Thinking about making some content along the way, but I want to remain focused on my goals also.

This dude is amazing. He’s gonna put golf pros out of business. The visuals are PURE GOLD. I never thought about striking in front of the ball. In my mind it’s always been hitting down and “pinching” the ball. It’s so ingrained in my head. I started using my normal swing but pictured striking 3 inches in front and it has changed my life haha. From 15 handicap to 4. Thank you

Hi Danny. Divot forward of the ball is as you say challenging for many golfers. I’ve heard numerous instructors talk as you did about low point control, compression line, forward shaft lean, ball position, proper weight shift, etc. The pro at my club explained it a bit differently which finally solved the issue for me. We focused on where the club actually struck the ball at impact with a descending blow assuming all of the aforementioned elements were ok. I was advised by my pro to think of contacting the ball(again assuming a descending strike) between 2 and 3 O’clock on the ball (the top of the ball is 12 O’clock) driving the club face down and through the ball. It was like magic for me. My divots were suddenly ahead of the ball and the depth of the divot became very consistent as well. Just a suggestion if it makes sense the way I’ve described it. Since then there’s been no looking back for me, the issue has been resolved and my divots are fantastic. Thank you my friend for all of your fantastic content! You’re the best.

That is what I’ve been working on for awhile and thankfully I’ve finally gotten there consistently with predictable ball flight. I have intensely focused on the methods I’ve gathered from your lesson collaborations with Pete Cowen and those adjustments have not only produced profound results, but have made the current amazing quality of my strike possible. I have been watching your videos for a few months now but came across this one and it was an eye opener. I realized immediately what my issue was. Hi Danny, Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I am a senior golfer and have been playing on and off for many years mostly fun golf with friends and a few beers which definitely doesn't help my game. At age 62 decided it was time to start playing seriously and as a member of a club it just makes sense. I was born and lived in the UK in Kent for my first 39 years when I moved to the USA and have been here now for nearly 25 years, it was funny when I found you on youtube and got hooked watching you for at least an hour a day and then subscribed, my game has improved a lot but now I'm ready to start playing tournaments and club matches and doing better with my game.
I would love to know what you recommend as far as where to go from here and what you could offer to help me become a better golfer, I would just add for my age I am still thankfully fairly fit and strong and willing to put the hours in which for the past 2 months I have been to the range about 1 hour every day, anyhow wanted to touch base with you and see if you have any recommendations, and thanks again for everything I have learned to date
    best regards
    Staurt

This makes so much sense. Played golf for a long time but never had any instruction. I have a decent swing, because I started young, but I am inconsistent in how my club head ends up on the ball. I've been practicing, indoors, everything in your videos, Danny. Swing feels much better now and for the first time in 40 some odd years, I am aware of how and where the club head is coming down over the ball. In the past, I didn't have a clue what my club was doing in the back part of my swing. Now, I'm aware of that and the bit about the swing low point and where to place yourself so that the club head makes contact BEFORE your club reaches its lowest point of the arc. At least for your iron shots. Just have to practice. Hopefully, I'll finally get consistency in hitting the ball. Huge thank-you.

Yet again super practical and simple to implement advice. After just 10 balls applying this approach I hit a 5 iron dead straight at 198m with a perfect divot when previously a 5 iron was around 160m. Not consistent yet but I guess that will take a few more sessions to improve. Also, had another round since you came back to me on the driver video. Took 10 strokes off my score and was consistently hitting drives middle of fairway between 200 and 236m. Not bad for 71 year old I guess!

Keep up the good work and thank you.

My local range has a sheltered area, with canvas ‘walls’. I’m finding those walls very valuable for rehearsal of striking. I swing into the wall, not hard, but focused on hitting it at the correct attitude. If the whole club, from my hands down to the head, hits simultaneously then the swing form is good. And today’s session was very good indeed. 150+ yard carry 8 irons on average, 205 yard 4 irons, and 215 yard 5 woods (persimmon). As the swing gets more comfortable, the 5 wood will stretch to about 230 on average. And as the 4 iron and 5 wood get more comfortable, I will re-integrate the 3 iron and 5 wood. And then, finally, the driver - from which I will expect 260+ on average. Not bad, considering I had major surgery just a few months ago and separately have some back issues.
It’s this online coaching that’s making the difference and helping me remember how I used to swing.

Hi Danny, I've watched a lot of your videos, and can honestly say that this is making a lot of sense to me. For someone who has a very inconsistent ball strike, this is perfect. The only question I have is this... how can this be transferred to a mat at the range? Mat interaction with the golf club is not always visible (ball then ground). Is it simply a case of putting a tee down 2,3 or 4 inches ahead of the station?
This is something I want to take the range with me, as I feel now we're in the off season, it's definitely something I can work with, improve my striking and get that handicap down.
Keep the great content coming 👍

I'm quite new to golfing and I've been experiencing a bit of back pain on my left lat whenever I go to the driver or similar clubs. I'm thinking it could be my swing path and how hard im trying to hit the ball which is making it worse, since I'm 5ft 3in using a regular sized driver. Could there be any other reasons for my back pain such as my technique or should I switch to shorter clubs until I can get a fitted driver?

Hi Danny, brilliant as always. Any chance you could do something as detailed as this with driver please? I have an issue with my lead hip coming round too early instead of towards the target initially, leading to heel strikes.

Thank you Danny. I've been having a terrible time hitting the ground all over the place, sometimes I don't even hit the ground! It is winter where I live with snow on the ground. In the spring I'm going to do this. It may be my answer.

Danny, I never realized the leading armpit would be the lowest point of the golfswing, which is important to consider when setting up for longer irons and woods. This makes a big difference on the ball position. Thank you!

DM teaching methods + PC concepts = 👍 headed to the range today to try some new set up things getting more to the left side to get the low point of my swing forward of the ball. I’m more interested in your feels or swing thoughts for the release of the right wrist angle after contact at low point? Thx.

I’m not a fan on keeping the left arm straight as it’s not natural. It’s ok to have some softness with the left while reducing the flex in the right

Dan. One of the biggest discoveries for me recently is that when I look at my low point I use my dominant eye, which for me is my right eye. This has helped me massively from hitting fat shots.

Hi Danny, I love your instruction and especially when it's a lesson with family or students. Danny I'm frustrated. I'm hitting all my irons the same distance. 7 Iron, 6 Iron, 9 Iron, 5 Iron all around 105 to 110 yds. Danny I'm a big guy, old mind you. but big! What on earth am I doing? Better yet Danny which lesson should I review to help? Thank you. My golf group thinks I suck but I know I'm better! Thank you Danny!

Greetings Danny - many of us here will only rarely strike balls off turf at a range. Yet properly getting feel for taking a divot off a mat a challenge; I've seen drills like aiming to strike a tee placed about 2" in front of ball but do you have any modules that address this kind of issue...? How about those mats that are like velcro fuzz/help you see the strike path of club...? Thank you in advance - and of course - you have a super awesome and generous teaching site...!

When you take your club to the top of the back swing what is your mechanism for firing the downswing. Is it a feeling of firing your hips or firing your shoulders that lead the way

Thanks Danny for the good lesson. My question is when we address with a little more weight pressure ( eg, 55%) on the lead leg, do we keep the weight pressure there on the back swing or make weight transfer to the trail leg? Thanks always.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  11 месяцев назад

It’s a great question and reality the pressure should shift back slightly. However many of my students move around too much so I will often get them to sense it stays more forward
