Hey all! I just built this golf app where you can get exclusive lessons from the world's greatest golf coaches. It's been the biggest game changer to helping me improve, and wanted everyone to be able to do the same. Check it out here! caddyai.io/
This quite possibly may be the best lesson I've seen on RUclips. Ive applied the principles over the past 3 days and its solved several issues. One thing Jerome Keep It Simple!
The pearls of wisdom Dana was providing caused me to pause the video, head out to my yard, pull out a wedge and take a few (15) swings while focusing on keeping my left wrist (right handed golfer here) rotated left. Results: WOW!!!! Impact... AMAZING! Compression... AMAZING! Ease of swing... AMAZING!!! Distance with my wedge... HOLY MAC!!! ok, i'm subscribing right now.
I've never watched a youtube video longer than 10 mins. But I watched every minute of this since I struggle with this exact issue. All 49 minutes of this is worth more than I'll ever know. Dana is so articulate with every word and it just resonates with my long sought fix for my issues. And I'm a leftie. Thank you algorithm.
this is my issue too and its so relieving knowing that when you start doing it basically right, youre not gonna hit it perfectly, i hope youre able to fix it over these next few weeks
LETS GO!! This again is pure gold. Thanks Jerome! and Thank you Dana!! Stay with the grind and trust the dojo master Dana, he is 100% giving solid pure gold. I hope to get a lesson with him as soon as my shoulder heals. I have been working on wedges and driver so much lately and I'm deep in the struggle right now. I've been using the pro-sender a lot and it has really helped with getting shaft lean and more rotation. Remember rotation still needs vertical extension like the toe to heel lead pushing force and getting taller through contact! I'm excited for the next video!
I struggled with the same feels to get the wrists right and using The Hanger training aid was a light bulb moment for me. Instantly had better wrist conditions and then started rotating properly. Highly recommend that one.
I am going through the same lessons with my golf coach right now. We have very similar struggles. It's nice to see someone getting the same advice and working through it. Good luck!
Jerome! Canada's calling you out!!! I've been watching your videos when I first started golfing 6 months ago and everything that you've showed on this video I've been working on for the last month or so. I think I could take ya on a friendly stroke play challenge! If your ever in Vancouver let me know! Love your vids man. They've helped out so much over the last 6 months! Keep em coming!
I really like your vids. I've been learning about the same amount of time as you and your vids are very educational. I like the very detailed lessons but also love hearing Moe Norman talk about the swing in it's simplest terms.
This video was absolutely everything Jerome!! Thank you so much for what you are doing. Thank you for giving back to the game by sharing this with us! You da man 🙏🫡
Thank you DANA!!! This is the most helpful teaching I’ve seen on wrists, rotation, and squaring the club face! After some practice I went out and shot -2 on the front 9! My lowest score ever on my home course! The back 9 was a work in progress but the gains were amazing! Thanks for sharing this content with us!
Jerome, back when I first started watching your adventure, I commented that your biggest problem was your mind getting in your way. That was a year ago ..... low and behold .... guess what ! You have all the ability to be a great golfer, STOP MICROMANAGING, RELAX AND HIT THE SHOT.
Those are definitely the keys to ball striking. What's interesting is that you are coming full circle back to Mike Wydra's ONE DRILL video concerning the proper wrist delivery of the club into the ball (there's a punch shot in every golf shot). Mike does it differently because he drops down steeply in the downswing and then gets the wrists in the right position to get the natural draw and power produced by hands ahead, lead wrist in flexion. This shows that there is more than one way to get there but the effect through impact is the same. As Mike explained, these wrist positions get the hands ahead at impact, the club workting inside out, and the club descending into impact (for an iron), with the face squaring to the arc all through this one mechanism. It's pure magic for the golf swing! It is also one of the biggest keys to effortless power. I am very happy to see this coming into your swing, Jerome. Cheers.
Same man... The driver is my nemesis as well. Some days it's good (not great impact wise, but always in the fairway), and some days it's giving me penalty drops. Im a 10 HDCP, and by eliminating my penalties off the tee box would easily drop me a few points
Coach Dana makes this amazingly simple. He says to practice hitting it straight and hook it low drawing left. Obviously one can’t play that way. Implied that’s a drill and more to come. Where does coach explain how to fix low hook? Is it just more lateral hip shift and turn hips more? Sounded like he was gonna do a lesson on helping straighten this big hook out. Cheers -Brian
The low hook is caused by face being overly shut to path and dynamic loft taken off the club. He wants the low hook cause it would mean Jerome is flexing his lead wrist aggressively enough. Once that feel is ingrained in more rotation and a slightly less aggressive wrist would straighten it out. Was my understanding of the video at least
Thank you for this! I've seen versions of these drills and techniques, but this was more straight forward, simple practice. I did this a couple days and then just shot my lowest score ever, +1! Had so many pure irons. I hope I get even better at this technique.
I figured this out on the range today before I watched this and It confirmed everything I was looking for. Unlocked rotation and shaft lean. This is a necessary in the golf swing. Thanks!
Thank you very much I have tried messing with the wrist bowed but didn't quite understand so I quit, now I know just to stay with it until I get comfortable, and if I have bad rounds I will just deal with it.
I went and did this move today on my swing, and OMG. I've never hit shots quite like this before. Much lower and driving out, compared to my weak fades or slices. I'm a 22 handicapper so couldn't do it every time, but I did do it enough times to see the benefit. I will be practicing this move often over the next couple of months. This just might be the best golf video I've watched on RUclips as far as immediate improvements to my swing.
Remarkable if you only knew how close you are but you still have to get there. You effort is tremendous and the courage is your talent so trust that because I think most of us can see how far you've come but the blind man never sees himself. If he did he still wouldn't even recognize it or more likely want to compare. Thank's for doing such a committed service and you find a tremendous source in Mr. Dan Dahlquist he's been so generous with sharing golf content for awhile with humility. Really hope you get a moment to just realize you can allow yourself to be a great ball striker, we won't mind.
I have been struggling with a lack of rotation, so very interesting video. Thank you. Watching this I wondered why not close the club face at the top, like Dustin johnson and others rather than midway down. So I will experiment with both. Dana is great.
cant wait to get to the range and work on this, feel like my swing has improved lots lately, but getting height, pushing right and less distance. this really helps explain clearly where the wrists should be
He's a perfect match for Jerome. His patience is godlike and his biggest challenge is getting him to stay out of his own way. Great lesson and good simple (but advanced) stuff too.
What a great lesson. I really like this coach. You did great Jerome. I too agree that you are likely overthinking it…. Likely because it doesn’t “feel good”. After watching this lesson, I went to the range and mimicked everything that was said. it sure feels foreign, and most all my balls were going left and low (exactly what he wanted). This obviously isn’t an ideal ball flight and not something that looks or feels good or can play good golf with, but it’s a stepping stone. I’ve realized you have to be uncomfortable in order to get comfortable in the correct position. Stick with the process! My compression has already improved , and will continue to practice these wrist angles until I don’t have to consciously think about it
Watched this twice today and then drove to the driving range to work on the leading wrist. Best range session yet this year. I have the exact same problem with hitting the ball without shaft lean and sort of scooping the ball. But today I did hit the ball so much better with all clubs. GREAT video!!
Being following you for almost a year when I start my golf last year, I got same deal like to where have too many swing thoughts, and i am having same issue of thinking of want to rotate but keep getting slice, even push slice, good content, can’t wait to try it out in range😊
❤ love this lesson so much. 1 thing is you ask the same questions I would and your brain is always thinking. Which Dana handles so well. Dana understands why u ask and that on 1 hand less thought is better but that giving you an answer or even just assurance would help your buy-in. ❤
1 million times YES!! Watched twice, took to range with PW and 1 WD. Instant compression and divots that I've dreamed of for 30 years.I have always been a picker of the ball due to breakdown at impact. Still a decent golfer (12 handicap) regardless. But the explanation about squaring club face halfway down clicked and the body just does it's thing. Driver was a bit different, once I started playing with pacing I started striping it one after another. Best lesson I ever had! Thank you so much Dana!
This simply has to be one of the best golf inst vids ever. Is there any chance you could upload a version without the overlays about what's coming up etc. Nicely done, but they cover some important views.
totally agree, so many of these youtube instructors seem bent on making it as complicated as humanly possible and we take away zero from their expertise
This one lesson alone changed golf for me. Hitting effortless flush shots with my irons back to back to back, I’ve never done. Just need to keep up on the practice. Holy smokes! (12 years of golf, that wrist angle and not thinking about my hips did it) keep up the work and bidsy
@@martinlasprilla3278 to rotate the hips faster which opens the clubface, i'm working on exactly the same thing as jerome in this video and everything is hooking.. my hips are too slow it seems or i dont know how to open them yet.
I love the video Jerome, thanks. I have a question. Why don't you have your wrist bowed at the top, liked Duston Johnson? It seems so much simpler. I don't know if it would help or not, but it fills better to me, than trying to manipulate the club.
I love this video -Fix wrist to Fix rotation. As if it were made for me. Who is the Coach? I like the way he explains - What, Why, When.... Great Content.
Jerome, thank you very much for sharing this lesson. Tried these things out 2 days ago. It got to me in a few shots and I loved it. Took it to the course yesterday and it worked great. Been struggling with the swing for the past thee weeks but yesterday was great with this tecnique. Subbed man. /QboT
This is a great video @JeromeRufin and have been working on something similar. One thing that wasn't clear from the video, the hard hooks ingrain the feeling of the bowed left wrist but it wasn't clear how you pull that back to a straights shot - more rotation and therefore shaft lean or just bowing left wrist less?
What is your ball position for driver? At release point, is shaft parallel to the ground and angled ~10-20° inside target line. Do you swing towards~ 10-20° to the right of the TL?
Took a few years off & have been struggling to feel that "trap" I used to have. This video is so good. Only issue I have is a slight push with my 2 longest irons. Any ideas?
Funny how I just picked this up a week ago and testing the theory behind the wrist and rotation. This solidify that I’m in the right path. Thanks for the video.
It appears that Dana has learned from his students over the years and the clarity of intent and explanations has really made these videos- great- what was known and informed information even 5 years ago clearly has evolved. When you mix solid information with clarity of presentation - wow… When working with top tour players one better be on top of understanding and application… Great tribute to Dana…. Lots of instructors “know” something about golf mechanics, physics etc… seldom however does it match a student on so many levels. No 1 shot slice cure here… but understand hands and body mechanics… maybe…😊
the left wrist (right wrist for lefties) / wrist roll emphasis before coming around and rotating through emphasis has helped me a lot with better shaft lean and contact giving more distance too
I’d be interested in what your thoughts were of the STOW STICK golf accessory…. It sure has made a difference in my putting movements…. The resistance band also helped out in keeping my hands out of my game… “Thank You” for your for your well explained video..
