Keyword is "Game changer". I was fighting the same symptoms as Danny mentioned early in the video. Too much rotation, getting static in the swing and trying to control it. Result was lost compression especially in the mid to long irons and loss of distance with the driver. Key for me was higher hands and being more dynamic in the swing. Voila! Played a round in wet and cold conditions but the compression with irons was unreal. Tight draws 90% of the time without unnecessary manipulation. Thank you Danny! I needed this video to find joy in playing golf again.

I'm glad I watched this as I have experienced the same rotation/ static symptoms, especially with driver and woods. For three weeks, I've struggled thinking that I'm losing my swing. Not so now as I've got my tight baby draws back on target. Thanks for your comments on finding the cure. Being on the verge of golf burnout is no fun!

Both Dr.Kwon and Erika Larkin learned it from Ernest Jones. But the key learning from Danny is that you don’t need to rotate on the downswing. You need to just direct your hands straight to the ball. Something that Mike Bender also advocates.

I’ve been working on “spinning”the club down-what you and Pete profess. It’s been helping, but I think I’ve been turning too much and your comments and teachings here about vertical force and what should be primary in the swing, makes all the sense in the world. It’s 29° and snowing here so I’m working on this in my garage. Keeping vertical focus and using that towel drill is helping me get my left side out of the way without trying, and come in to the ball in a more powerful position downward. This focus is keeping me from coming over the top as well. Thanks, Danny!

Question for you…when doing the towel exercise your left arm is bent at the top to get towel over your shoulder, but in your actual swing it appears your left arm stays straight….so are you lifting your arms higher across your chest than before and still keeping left arm straight? Been following Danny for quite sometime. I got to a place where I struggled with golf and could not get myself out of the GOLF DARKNESS! I got myself back and enjoying golf again by taking Danny's lessons to the range and just focus on his advice and ignore all other noise ( mostly in my own head) as we all know we become our worst enemy by over thinking. You cannot go wrong with any lesson from Danny. My game is now better than ever. I will give this drill a try as I am also getting up in age (54) but I do hit a long ball for my age but more is better!! :) My favorite videos were Danny's lessons with his Dad. • @ryankinman199

Yes, the elbow should be straight. I’m just stating this based on my own experience after watching the video but I think the purpose of the towel drill is just to give you a feel how high your hands need to be. The towel gives you feedback on whether you’ve raised your arms high enough or not.

Great video Danny and have watched the long drive video a week ago. Have been working on the Earnest Jones method of swinging the clubhead for the last few months, which is essentialy point 3. Del a Torre then refined it to put the club over your right shoulder, then put the club over your left shoulder and let the ball get in the way. That creates the closest to vertical swing you can put a golf club onto a ball. Exactly what you are talking about Danny, not going around the body. I'm 64, off 19 and 3 weeks ago injured my lower back, not by playing golf. Today, nursed myself around the course using the Jones/Del a Torre method for 34 points with 4 blobs. 5 pars on the front 9. Most drives using this method, with a limited swing where around the 190 - 200 metre mark and on fairway. Trust it folks, it works.

Nice one. I also recently learned that difference between spinning the hips (wrong mechanics) and rotating the hips. My mistake was translating firing the hips into spinning them.

I haven't played since i had my clubs stolen, about fifteen years ago.
Seeing your excitement and positivity, is so infectious, i want to try.
I'm going to save up for a cheap driver, and some air balls, just to try this. Even if only to help my back maintain, and hopefully improve, its mobility.

Hi Danny, it makes so much sense and even I as a 67 year old player am amazed by the simplicity. In my younger years my lenght was way longer and by getting older I lost control of speed, distance and also directions. Your video which I saw a couple of times now, did increase my confidence in striking the ball further and better. I like to maintain my single handicap for many years to come. Love to watch all the instructions you are giving.

Phenomenal video! I started doing this and noticed a massive improvement in accuracy and consistency esp in my scoring irons. I ONE: never focus on getting to the TOP of my backswing and making that upward motion. Finding this motion allowed me to then create more downward motion rather than the swinging motion. I raise my lead heal but it also helps me when I almost step into that lead foot to transfer weight. Pairing this with your other video of saying “ one hundred and one” really smoothed me out.
