Man oh man black cars - I’ve bled black many times over the years. Great video. Given I’m not a detailing business I’d only have my vehicle to worry about. When washing I’d have about 12 mitts soaking in the wash solution. The wash wash solution costs enough (as does everything), so you may as well soak as much solution as you can all through your wash mitts ready to go. Use one, throw it in the bucket, you’ve got another freshly soaked sudsy mitt ready to go. Once you have the mitts it’s a no brainer, and you get way more from your wash solution. It’s easy to build em up through b’days/Xmas/Father’s Day etc, beats gettin socks and jocks💪💪
Unfortunately all cars have to this extent some scratches and swirls, black cars just show them much more then any other color. Also, hand polishing, drying ect, by hand does more harm then good. My mustang I bought was supposed to be fairly new condition, but instead since it was hand waxed and washed several times for car shows, the car ended up with much much more scratches and swirls by the previous owner.
I've got two black cars with notoriously soft paint from VAG (Seat and Porsche) . One 9 yrs old and one 7. Both have hardly a mark on them and they are fastidiously hand cleaned and dried every week. The car shown in this video shows all the signs of being washed regularly in a car wash. I use Maguires ultimate compound/polish/wax or the Auto Glym equivalents, so they do work. I've recently tried an expensive carnauba wax on the Porsche and it's not as good as Maguires ultimate. So, despite the miserable bloke in the video, I'll stick to what works :)
Would have been nice to see the after in the same spotlight lighting as the before and not in a more flattering flat light so we could actually see if it did any good.

Cant argue with the finish guys, but what the hell happened to the decontamination stage? No fallout and no tar and bug removers? And also not a detailing brush in sight? I cant help but think that's part of why the paint looked so crap after they clay bar stage? Maybe it's just me. I dunno. But if I'm doing a full detail on my car then it's getting tar and bug and a damn good coating of Korrosol before it even sees a clay bar.
Decontamination with an IronX or the like is preferred. However when black paint is already in this piss poor condition to begin with it truly begins to be a waste of product when what little possible marring of the paint was caused by the clay bar will far and away be removed way before the deeper scratching and swirling is removed. Therefore going that extra step (in this case and with other very poorly maintained vehicles) it is not a necessity when the steps after will be removing all of that anyways just in the normal process. But you are correct. I would always use one on my own personal car, only because the paint is in incredible condition.
Hi, I've been following and watching many of your detailing videos and I followed this one for my black metallic car and it came up absolutely AMAZING!!! Huge thanks for making great products and excellent videos. My car looks brand new now!!!

They really did a great job with this car the only thing I would change would be not to use the detailing spray with the clay bar basically all of them have a wax in them and you want your paint clean and free of any wax before you add any long lasting hard wax. This car was pretty swirled up, but wasn't faded so the heavy compound was probably not needed just the polish. I'd recommend only using the compound in heavy faded spots and only using polish in between long periods on not waxing.
Yep agree, the compound just stripped the clearcoat back. For some reason its a big secret, but if you strip the paint, your doing just that stripping a layer of something away from it. It all comes down to the buffer but to be honest. Id use the wax only with the buffer and then do it a second time

Just a question, I've never used an electric buffer, but when all the costs of protection has gone over time, how long does all the costs last, and when all the protection has gone, looking closely again at the paint work do you still see those swirl marks which I still think today is caused by the electronic buffer.... Just thinking outside the box. Can someone give me a true answer. Thanks for this video, interesting. How much is a 4/5stage valeting kit???? Reason why I've just brought a black motor only a year old not done nothing to it yet....
It took me almost all day to wash dry Clay compound polish and Wax my car. But gives brilliant results. I just hope the swirls and light scratches don’t come back. I use 2 bucket method. With Meguires Ultimate wash and Wax. Along with Meguires wash mit and Drying Towel.
It's good stuff for a car that's not in bad shape or for cut and buff work. I own the set and can see that these guys didn't want the average person to burn through their paint like what would happen if the used the "real" stuff like 3M. This is more like kit gloves or training wheels 😂. Don't get me wrong, it will do the hard jobs but it will take 3X longer. This video alone showed 2-3 guys working multiple days on a car that wasn't in that bad of shape
I will also say that when you put in the time and effort to correct the paint, do what is needed so you never have to do it again. Wash every week, detail every month. And wax three times a year (warm spring, mid summer, and before winter) polishing and correcting the paint defects at that time. I have owned nothing but black cars/trucks and motorcycles and this is what it takes to keep them looking good 👍 the ultimate line of products are just what you need to "maintenance" your paint and I have yet to find a better/easier paint maintenance solution. offered by a company. Just wish you could buy it all as a bundle.
13:02 yeah, it didn't remove that light scratch even after compound and polishing. And also as it's silicone based after of couple of washes all the silicone and shine will be gone and most of the old scratches will be back.

@@savageramirez2925 Not uncommon. If you pay for a pro detail, those guys can have your car for 2 days to do both outside and inside. Hence it costs a lot to get a pro to do it
Couldn't thumb it up due to you not sorting that scratch out on the bonnet scoop as it wasn't deep to the metal, visible throughout video from start to finish. Shoddy work.
Pro tip, don't apply aerosol tire shine outside after you have done your final wipe down,do it before wipe down, inside. Other then that i use the ultimate line daily.
Agree, I wouldn’t use the spray can tire shine at all… Spray gets all over wheels and paint and leaves “greasy spots “ especially from driving, greasy spots all over the rear side… I usually buy tire gel or bottle spray and soak it onto a micro fiber and wipe down the sidewalls… much better
Great video , only thing I noticed is during the paint correction you turned off tube lights and had the square lighting on to show defects. Then after paint correcting was done you turned the light that showed defects off and the tube lights on to show only shine😂
Would have liked to have gotten which speed to run the DA polished at, and which pad for different paint conditions. Tape off any plastic areas before using the polisher close to them as not to damage them? There were scratches and significant paint damage in some spots earlier in the video. How were they addressed exactly? This was more of a product showcase than definitive instruction. Leaves people searching for that instruction other places where other products will be promoted. I've used your products for decades, and it seems as if the craft of successfully maximizing your products is getting lost in product marketing. Teach people how to do things with your products they can't do with others, they will sell better, and customers will be better informed. Thanks for the video.

Do you even detail?????? The purpose of soap not shampoo, is to prevent any further swirling regardless if there's going to be a compound or polish involved afterwards. Soap creates a slick stuff for when using a mitt to wash your car and if using the correct oh soap, can help remove a good portion of dirt with a pre soap. My gawd you weekend warriors need to learn something before commenting ignorant comments
Anyone else notice that near the end they have turned off the inspection led wall lights, and paint clearly has imperfections.so to say this is the ultimate finish is not really true at all
@@meguiarsuk I'm referring to the roof rails that run up from the cowel at the bottom of the windshield to the back of the roof. I realized they're actually vinyl. I believe they were painted from the factory, but now they're faded to the point where they look grey, but the car is black.
May have accidentally purchased 300 quids worth of meguiars kit to remove swirl marks and restore my paint work but it’s been shit weather all week . Fingers crossed it stays nice tomorrow so the swirl marks can be rid off of the entire car .
Happily i can get these products here in France, all three of my vehicules get the Meguiars TLC all year round, they all look like new even with the long summers and UV levels at paint killing levels, even my old 1995 Renault Trafic 2.1D looks like it came out of factory yesterday, excellent video guys.

So I'm going Step for step what you just showed me so hope I can fix this
@@mjyumping That's what you want. Water beads when the surface it hits doesn't have scratches or contaminants to break up the drops. Also wax and ceramic coatings are hydroscopic so it repels water causing the beads and eventual run-off from and away from the paint or glass
I have seen so many videos where detailers just say and apply stuff on a shiny new car where us (viewers) watching it on youtube cant really tell the difference. THIS however changed my mind. I just bought a black rav4 and was looking to find ways to keep it in this glossy finish. Great video. Clearly shows the difference. Too much background noise though. You should definitely do another one with some less noise just because the way you teach how to apply in every step is very easy to understand even as a newbie. 👍👍
Good grief. That's way too many petrol station and single bucket car washes for a very expensive car. 😬 It would have been nice to see some more machine polisher technique do's-and-don'ts to avoid swirling, hazing and holograms. You can quickly make big mistakes due to small errors in technique. Worth pointing out that you should cut off a portion of clay from the bar, knead it to a patty shape about the size of your palm and work the panel in hash/grid patterns. Once it's gone brown with grime, I've found a pinch-twist-and-fold method works well to knead the piece and expose new clay. Bought the Megs clay bar kit recently and worked my car with it, being gentle with the clay (it really does only require fingertip gliding) and liberal with the Quik Detail for a buttery smooth finish. Worked wonders on panels with almost two years of buildup! Waxed straight after, the panels looked excellent. Only the most stubborn embedded tar stains needed extra work with some higher strength tar remover.
So pretty much I must own the entire store to restore my car
But it's totally worth it. I bought many more products than I ever have before, but if you follow their recommendations, the results can be terrific. My neighbors are loving how my old VW looks as though it had a paint job. And you'll have a kit to use going forward. Worth the outlay of cash.

And then spend five days or more doing it by yourself.

2:56 I'd be willing to bet it was from this metal watchband
Paint was in terrible condition
Holy forklifts mate I seriously can’t listen to this on a Bluetooth speaker
Great video, can we see one video of a white car working from start to finish like a black car.Tnx
Was it worth it? Do you still do this 2 years later?
@@krismatthew6296 Yes i still do to this day i can even post a video on my channel to show how my car looks.
Did it help with scretches and swirls@@nighthawkj30A4
I thought that compound would take that long scratch out of the hood school..
With deep scratches like that if you catch your fingernail in it unfortunately it will require re-spraying.
Apply the shampoo to the mit....mind blown. It is the little things.
Talk to fast, to much background noise and horrible on explaining things especially after using them.
Too much work . . . I just buy a new car every time my finish fades. Kidding, of course! The car looked amazing in the end.
When is some company going to make a birdsh!t and tree sap resistant wax?
That's what the world really needs!
13:02 yeah, it didn't remove that light scratch even after compound and polishing. And also as it's silicone based after of couple of washes all the silicone and shine will be gone and most of the old scratches will be back.
I love the Ultimate line from Meguires. Awesome video. It's literally this easy to use. Their products are like magic!
Do u like the ultimate wax better than Gold Class wax?
CRAPO2011 i do like the ultimate more
Un résultat exceptionnel pour une voiture d'exception Thanks Meguiar's
What are the different pads you used?
I am looking to repeat this with the same products but all by hand.
by hand you will want to use the Even Coat applicator pad for compound and the soft foam applicator pad for polish and wax.
Driving a 5.0 litre petrol car in the UK?!
Put a tenner of fuel in it and its gone by the next morning!
SportsKing1991 are they not that many in the UK?
@@bennyrodriguez8788 most of europe has smaller engines. It is a thing these days to have a 1.5 and slap a turbo on it. Fuel prices are £££$$$. Although I don't want to completely bash all small engines as there are some good ones out there
Loving this - my daily is metallic black so looking forward to some 'decent' weather to get stuck in!! :)
I been using Meguiars ever since I got my first car I still drive to this day. I had finally stepped a chance 2 years ago to use a DA polisher and the ultimate compound and polish. It was a 10 hour job but worth it in the end. Car looks better than ever considering it was used when I purchased it
10 hour job???
@@savageramirez2925 yea
@@savageramirez2925 Not uncommon. If you pay for a pro detail, those guys can have your car for 2 days to do both outside and inside. Hence it costs a lot to get a pro to do it
Couldn't thumb it up due to you not sorting that scratch out on the bonnet scoop as it wasn't deep to the metal, visible throughout video from start to finish. Shoddy work.
These boys are valeters, not kin body work dent/scratch correctors.😅
I was always taught to put wax on and take off in side to side and up and down motion. Circular motions do not cause swirling!
Pro tip, don't apply aerosol tire shine outside after you have done your final wipe down,do it before wipe down, inside. Other then that i use the ultimate line daily.
Agree, I wouldn’t use the spray can tire shine at all…
Spray gets all over wheels and paint and leaves “greasy spots “ especially from driving, greasy spots all over the rear side…
I usually buy tire gel or bottle spray and soak it onto a micro fiber and wipe down the sidewalls… much better
Great video , only thing I noticed is during the paint correction you turned off tube lights and had the square lighting on to show defects. Then after paint correcting was done you turned the light that showed defects off and the tube lights on to show only shine😂
😂😂😂 who gives a fuk , it’s shiny af for what it looked like before 😂😂😂 this fool points out the bad in every video I bet YET has 0 videos on his page
How much to get my 3 series touring in your garage. I cant get it looking like that mustang 😔
These guys know how to sell a product. Ordering a bundle right now.
Can we get some more of that Renault 5 GT Turbo in the carpark?? 16:15
Thank you for your feedback. We have wide variety of videos and series designed to explain how certain methods work such as machine polishing. This video was showcasing the Ultimate Range for people who may have never used them. If you'd like to see more in depth content on Ultimate compound or how to machine polish then follow this link. ruclips.net/video/BSPbjicdrkE/видео.html
Only took $1,000 worth of product and 6 hours 😮
Would love to see the end results under the sunlight for possible 😳 swirls.
Cristian Ortiz and without a polarizing filter on the camera😆
Corrected title of this vid: "How to use WAAAYYYY more shampoo than you need to use".
Anyone else notice that near the end they have turned off the inspection led wall lights, and paint clearly has imperfections.so to say this is the ultimate finish is not really true at all
Time stamp? I went back and looked and up until the final protectant spray the bay lights were on
I thought sealant first then wax?
Yes
I spy a tiny bottle of Ceramic Detailer. I've been using it here and love it!
Not going lie, meguiars products not bad for entry level detailing. If you want the real shine and gloss, chemical guys is the way to go.
Absolutely awesome work. If you guys ever want to do a black on black porsche panamera. Just let me know. I can also smile for the video too. 😬
Send us some pictures!
@@meguiarsuk dm'd some picks on Instagram 😬
Can one of your products restore faded weather stripping? Something similar to Ultimate Black?
On what part of the car are you referring to? With faded paint the Ultimate Compound is the product for the job.
Guess I'm going to have to give this a try
Wash
Clay
Compound
Polish
Protect
I'll add Ceramic coating
Thanks for the tips needing this for my rx7.
Wow 😍
So many products. I wish there was a written guide on which one to use first.
Happily i can get these products here in France, all three of my vehicules get the Meguiars TLC all year round, they all look like new even with the long summers and UV levels at paint killing levels, even my old 1995 Renault Trafic 2.1D looks like it came out of factory yesterday, excellent video guys.
There are only two times when owning a black car is awesome.
1. When you buy it.
2. When you sell it! 😂
You should clay in one direction only. So I understand.
Great break down on each item used. I have a black Tahoe that I bought brand new in 2005 it still look great, but I made the mistake of trying the waterless carwash ya well we all know what happened next if ya look into it for to long you get sea sick lol. So I'm going Step for step what you just showed me so hope I can fix this
why do you need to wash your car in the UK? It rains constantly anyways...
Why do you clean your teeth?
It’s getting dirty the day after anyways
Meguiars ultimate compound have fillers or not???
Someone told me that ultimate compound have fillers 😔
Ultimate does not contain any fillers =D
Hi after using ultimate compound with da, my car water beads, why?
@@mjyumping That's what you want. Water beads when the surface it hits doesn't have scratches or contaminants to break up the drops. Also wax and ceramic coatings are hydroscopic so it repels water causing the beads and eventual run-off from and away from the paint or glass
6 hours to wash your car then you trade it in for more horsepower. Hahahaha
Once again great job man with the best quality products in market 👌
I am amazed! The paint looks better than new.
I love that he says "dwell"
The application is very beautiful, I like it very much, I like meguiars products.😉
Good grief. That's way too many petrol station and single bucket car washes for a very expensive car. 😬
It would have been nice to see some more machine polisher technique do's-and-don'ts to avoid swirling, hazing and holograms.
