Getting the Best Results with Meguiar's Ultimate Ceramic Coating - Tips & Tricks with Meguiar's

- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
- When using Meguiar's Ultimate Ceramic Coating, preparation is key. We recommend washing the vehicle and chemical decontamination step. By prepping the surface properly, it allows the coating to form a direct, strong bond with the surface. Performing a paint correction step can then be optional. However, if oxidation or water spots are present, this will inhibit a full bond with this product and potentially compromise the performance.
Application: Spray the car ceramic coating directly, about 3-4 inches away from the panel to prevent overspray. Work up to 1 panel at a time with about one spray for every one square foot. Immediately start spreading and wiping in the coating with methodical wipes until you see the product starting to flash off. When it appears uniform and even, flip to a clean part of your towel or use a separate microfiber towel.
Troubleshooting High Spots or Streaks: If you can't seem to get the coating leveled out and glossy, use a clean, fresh microfiber towel and continue to wipe to level the product. If a spot has been on there for a while and won't come off, take a damp microfiber towel using just water and wipe, followed by a dry microfiber towel for a final wipe-off.
Curing: Avoid all moisture for the first 24 hours after the application. Then, the full cure time is seven days. For seven days, avoid washing or applying any detailing chemicals to the paint. If you need to wipe something off, use a damp microfiber towel during the curing time.
Maintaining: Wash or wipe down at least once every week or two to keep contaminants from building up on the coating. Make sure you're using premium accessories. To maximize the hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating we recommend Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax and Hybrid Ceramic Detailer.

@@MarkusKleis- Glad you're back, Markus!
Glad you're back, Markus.
Thanks John! Me too!

Markus please keep bringing us some more videos like this love learning more about all these great products.
Thank you for the feedback. It is genuinely appreciated.
One of the best video meguires have put on RUclips. Very informative
Thanks for the feedback! 👍
Just used this product for the first time. Excellent video. Follow the instructions and TAKE YOUR TIME. The prep is essential. You don’t need a ton of product. Just make sure you spread it evenly. It will take some elbow grease and have plenty of clean micro fiber towels handy. I am very pleased with the results.
Thanks so much for the feedback! 👍
John is goated. Dude hits bombs and makes sure your car is in top tier condition
❤️
Looks like the perfect product for those DIYers that are a little hesitant to use a "professional grade" ceramic coat product from brand X. Definitely picking up bottle of this, the ceramic detailer, and the ceramic wash and wax.
Shoutout to John !!! He’s a badass 😎
Just bought this product and i must say results are the best! I used to use Ultimate Meguiar`s Liquid Wax and i love it .
Awesome! Thank you for giving it a shot and sharing your experience.
Question- is it okay to apply Meg Ceramic Coating directly on top of Meg Ultimate Polish, or should the polish be removed with a surface prep first? In other words does Ultimate Polish inhibit bonding of Ceramic Coating? Thanks.
Keep in mind that after applying Ultimate Polish you will in theory have wiped nearly all of the product off. That being said, you could certainly use the Surface Prep which will only help but it is not mandatory.
One thing in the description I became very curious about was how much it actuall fills and hide imperfections? Is it like light/minor swirls? Light DA haze after using somethinh like M110 on sensitive paints? Grea video btw, keep'em coming on your new releases for 2024 😊
The fact that it does to some extent fill in defects like fine scratches is great but we are always going to preach the best approach of removing the defects first with a good compound/polish.
Can this product be stacked? Meaning can it be applied and then a second coat applied over the first? Any pros or cons to going this! If it’s able to be stacked what time frame between additional costs should be used? Thank you.
Wow I am excited with this real ceramic coating.
I detail cars and aircraft for 20 years ...
My question is. I just spent 2 detailing my new mustaing . And I applied the Mcguire's wax ceramic coating two coats on my car. Can I apply the new ceramic Spray coating over.
The mcguire wax Ceramic coating???
No, unfortunately, you want/need to apply a coating to a bare surface. It should not be applied on top of a wax.
Can I apply on a sunny day out? Or has to be out of the sunlight?
Hey guys just did a full paint correction last weekend and used my hybrid ceramic wax the (green bottle) after I corrected and polished. Now that I’ve seen this video can I go over the car with this or do I have to re clay the truck again?
You would at minimum need to wash & compound first to remove the existing wax. This coating should not be applied on top of another wax, sealant, or coating.
hello! can you use this product on motorcycle? im interested in buying.
Yes, it could be used on the painted surfaces of the motorcycle.
After I use the compound im just use the ultimed ceramic coating? And i can wash the car with the ceramic wash and wax and after the hybrid ceramix wax in paste?
The recommended prep process is outlined and discussed in detail around the 1:00 mark of the video.
Yes, you can use the Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax after application of any coating or wax you choose.
Ceramic coatings sound more susceptible to contaminants that wax coatings. Why would one use a ceramic coating over a high quality wax?
Not sure what you mean by "susceptible to contaminants"? The biggest benefit to coatings is the fact that they offer more resilient and longer lasting protection.
How does this compare to your hybrid painting coating? That has been very durable for me resisting water spots.
Ultimate Ceramic Coating is a true ceramic coating but the end result and longevity will be similar to Hybrid Paint Coating.
@@meguiarsCan I apply this on top of hybrid paint coating or UCC then HPC after some time?
Not sure why you would use one coating on top of another but no, coatings are designed to work best when applied to a properly prepped bare surface.
Is that Markus....you back at megs?
👍
Thanks Barry! Back where I belong :)

When using the clay kit, would the detailer inhibit the ceramic coating from bonding properly?
That depends on which clay kit your are referring to. The Smooth Surface Clay Kit which using our A3316 Quik Detailer (burgundy bottle) would be totally fine. We would not recommend using the Hybrid Ceramic Synthetic Clay kit with the Hybrid Ceramic Detailer because it will leave protection behind and the coating should be applied to a bare surface.
I've been using Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax spray and the Hybrid Ceramic Wash and Wax on my car. Do I need to polish to remove it or will the Iron Decon be enough before applying the Ultimate Ceramic Coating? Thanks.
Difficult to say if there is still wax on the surface without knowing how long ago it was waxed and what kind of environment you car has been exposed to. It is typically best to apply a coating to a bare surface. That being the case either compounding or using a prep like our M122 Surface Prep would be ideal but may not be 100% necessary.
Let’s go John
Could this be used a TOPPER?
No, this is a coating and as such should be applied to a bare surface.
can't wait to try this does the ultimate ceramic coating work on plasti dip?
Might work on a glossy finish but would not be recommended for a matte/satin finish as it could add gloss and or be difficult to get an even appearance.
@Meguiar's - would you recommend using Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay Kit for the prep of surface?
The clay is not an issue but using the Hybrid Ceramic Detailer as lubricant would not be recommended as it leaves protection behind and you want to apply the coating to a bare surface.
How long does it last in general? Possible to say this, or is just depending of all kind of varities?
Correct, there are many variables that contribute to longevity. That being said, on a well-prepped and well-maintained vehicle this can last a year plus.
Can this be applied to a Suede Applicator cloth and use a hatch pattern to apply?
A good microfiber towel is recommended.
Circular wipes or Crosshatching when applying?
Does not matter but like the video shows/says you want to make sure to spread more than your typical spray on wipe-off spray wax as it is an actual coating and needs that extra spreading to start the curing process.
Not wanting to bring controversy to the chat, but I saw a couple of RUclipsrs that are well-known product torture testers, and they both tested this product and both had pretty bad results with how well it held up. One person it didnt even pass the first initial wash. Was that due to improper installation? I want to try this prodict, but i'm a bit skeptical. Ive installed Hybrid Paint Coating and absolutely LOVE that stuff. How does this Ultimate Ceramic Coating compare to HPC?
It would be difficult to speak to unknown methods of application and testing. There are some nuances to the Ultimate Ceramic Coating that are easy to understand but if not followed could certainly lead to poor results.
You should certainly find the Ultimate Ceramic Coating on par with or even a little improvement over the Hybrid Paint Coating.
once you applied this ceramic coating, when should u re-apply? 1 year ? 2 year ?
As with any protection longevity can vary quite a bit depending on a number of factors including prior condition, proper prep, proper application, proper maintenance, and of course the environment your vehicle is exposed to. That be said, this can last up to a year plus.
@@meguiars meaning i should not re-apply until a year later right ?
How long will it last?
As with any protection, longevity can vary quite a bit depending on several factors including the environment your vehicle is exposed to. The being said, on a well-prepped and well-maintained vehicle the Ultimate Ceramic Coating can last up to a year plus.
when this product be available for Indonesian market?
That is a question you would have to ask directly of our partners there...
s.3m.com/x2ogg25i
Is this the consumer version of M799 or different product?
Not at all. Very different indeed.
M799 Bead Booster is essentially a spray wax or spray detailer (depending on dilution) with SiO2 ceramic in it. It is typically used as maintenance for any vehicle but of course works well to maintain vehicles with ceramic waxes or coatings as seen at the end of this video.
The Ultimate Ceramic Coating is a true long-lasting coating serving as your primary protection.
Are there any plans to bring this to market in the United Kingdom?🇬🇧
That is a question you will want to ask directly of our partners in the UK...

👍
no gloves?
It’s to expensive for a little 8oz. Bottle. For that price there’s better alternatives.
Nice product. I just doesn’t like to see people working on car with a wrist watch.
Completely understand! 💯
Explain first on how Meguiar's end up being pronounced same as McGuire's.
Too complicated
You must simplify your products,useless
How exactly is this too complicated? It literally is the same process for ANY other type of coating application. Wash, prep, spray, wipe, buff. The results are dependent on how well you perform the prior steps. Don't want to be bothered with all that? Then simply spray and wipe it off. Then report back here and tell us how long it lasted on your vehicle.
This is as simple as it gets for ceramic coat.
Great video!!
