Not hardening in the applicator is due to newer coating technology that allows them to be flexible as the panels expand and contract from heat, in theory giving them better longevity. Disagree; the ceramic detail wax spray (blue bottle) is great because it allows the user different ways to apply; also the quick detailer is easy to use and the extreme tire shine spray is the best for high gloss. I use the wax/cleaner when needed but their regular waxes do NOT stand up.

Glad to see you actually gave this one a fair shake. Given the fact that Meguiar's clearly knows how to make a quality coating, how about doing another video where you record the entire application process for UCC and do it how I explained it to you? Then re-test it and see if maybe was due to improper application and abnormally low temperature. As I explained to you during multiple phone calls and text messages, UCC is built to be ultra forgiving for first timers, and as a result it has a trade-off of a slower cure that is made even slower by cold (which is also true for real pro coatings, hence IR lamps). You applied and tested UCC when it was under 60 degrees for a week straight AND you also did not work it into the paint like I explained. That is why it didn't perform. It is a real coating, but it was tested like a sealant. Looking forward to that video.
I gave UCC a fair shake too. It just underperforms and that’s ok, as long as we know where it stands. Something called a spray coating should last much longer than a wash even if applied in less than completely ideal temperatures. M888 is great UCC is not good.

The problem I have with meguiar's Inc. is that it's owned by 3m now so it's not a meguiar's anymore they just use the meguiar's name development now comes from 3m according to Google and news releases
3m bought Meguiars 16 years ago...... (2008) So, there's that. With that said, 3m was no stranger to car products having produced some of the best rubbing compounds and polishes for many decades. Certainly the M888 and recent products have all been designed and tested under the highly competent 3M umbrella.
Jimbo, I loved your tests, reason for coatings not hardening is that before you needed a PPF coating, a Trim coating and a Paint coating that hardens, now with the same coating you can coat all surfaces with the same bottle. Coatings are still giving thickness, 9H hardness (if that is a thing), gloss, slickness but are flexible enough to be installed on PPF, Trim and Clear Coat. Hope that helps.
I'm looking at the comments... No one is talking about the 7 DAYS TO CURE!!! I guess this will be applied either by owners DIYers... But if keeping a car 24h was challenging I can't imagine 7days. If I missed something please let me know. I know that here in FL... It is absolutely Impossible to avoid the car being 100% wet without rain... Just due to morning dew.
7 day cure time?! Im not sure this would be good for shop use if you had to tell clients you needed their vehicle for 7 days. Also, its hard for anyone to go 7 days without their car.
Because it totally depends on how you maintain it, whether it's garaged, etc. If they say 3 years and you maintain it well and it lasts 6 great. But if you never wash it, or if you take it through a high ph touchless car wash every day and never top it with anything and it only lasts 2 years you'll be pissed even though that's good performance.
I think ceramic coatings are over rated. If you can buy hard as shell for $35, no matter what, you have to do a decon on the paint before you apply it. If you go through all of that and have to decon it say in 6 months to apply a “topper”, it’s just cheaper in the long run to apply another layer of hard as shell. The coatings that are rated for 2 or 3 years, you have to “maintain” them. Again, decon and add a layer. With a ceramic coating, you have to maintain the car just as much as without. Tar, construction, weather, pollutants are still in the air and will stick. Just my 2 cents.
Not hardening in the applicator is due to newer coating technology that allows them to be flexible as the panels expand and contract from heat, in theory giving them better longevity. In my test, this is one of the better ones initially so it looks promising for sure. I like that you get a big bottle for the price too.

@@autodetailingpodcast cool I have a 39 sedan with 20 yr old fixing dents and touch up the owner is having cut the car and buff clearcoat had shrunk back alot
It's a polysilazane based coating, not SiO2. That's why it doesn't harden
it it worth buying as a mobile detailer?
Yes but CarPeo 3.0 & Gtechniq Serum are great for Mobile detailing.
@@FantasyFootballLIVENEWS I'd add Can Coat to that.
I think yes, it's worth it@@garethdavies7564
So I got the hard as shell do i top this with that after 7 days?
Yup - I would just say you can after your first wash.
JB goes full Heisenberg on the hood at 21:07
I can tell he has spent a lot of time in the desert in the RV....just look at his face at 0:19.
If his next video is sponsored by Los Pollos Hermanos, I am out of here!
Just kidding JB, keep up the content. It is helpful to see other coating options and how they apply/perform.
Hahaha!!!
I recently installed a ceramic coating on my new car, can I apply this on top and have the same durability? Or I need to take all the ceramic coating and install this?
You could do either but they would prob recommend to strip and then apply this if you want maximum benefits. But if you’re not worried about maxing it out you will be fine going over top IMO.
@@autodetailingpodcast thank you, what product do you recommend to wipe out the other coating?
Gyeon total remover.@@anthonyllenrof
That's actually impressive as hell for a coating in today's offerings. Gonna have to give it a shot
I agree. I was impressed.
Thanks for sharing. What is that cordless air dryer you're using?
It’s a flex. It kinda sucks for a whole car. Works good for this panel tho
The Amazon watch and wait continues. Have you come up with a release date for your products to drop on Amazon?
You're 20 minutes from me in HB but I prefer the convenience of Amazon.
Great Torture test review for Meguiars!
I’m just waiting for Amazon to approve a trademark. What city are you in? I maybe able to deliver - send me a message and we can chat.
Or use code FIRSTTIMER and it will ship free.
@@autodetailingpodcast I'll use the code. I'm in Huntington Beach but know you have a business to run. Actually across the street from the Westminster Mall off Bolsa.
BTW,what do you use for an interior cleaner on Leather, Plastic etc.?
Oh man! I can totally deliver if you want. I’m in the area all the time
I have a question for you, when you applied it on the test area was it decontaminated and free from other other coatings?
Yes of course. Always stripped and re prepped before every new application of a product
Is this product already out? Or is it that it hasn't made it to MX yet and that's why i don't se anything
50ml is probably full to the brim where they left a little out for shaking it up.
Please shopping in Hungary your products! Thank you!
I have a dayli driver truck when they say to let it cure for 7 days does that mean when instal the product i can't drive my truck ?
No I don’t think so. I think it’s just saying that so you don’t wash it within 7 days.
It needs to stay in garage for 24 hours
Nice review!
How long is this coating meant to last?
Meguiars doesnt give specifics on longevity, just says “multi year”
How does Hard as Shell compare to this?
It’s a spray not a wipe on. So it would be used to maintain a wipe on coating like this. Also, much less prep is required for HAS.
I've been using Meguiars polishing products for years. Im very excited they came out with an actual ceramic coating. I'll be ordering this.
Great review as always Jimbo.
I have your Hard as Shell, but it's been snowing and rainging. I cant wait to try it.
Thanks for the support! You’re gonna love it.
How does that compare to there paint coating
This is their paint coating isn’t it?
@@autodetailingpodcast the one in a spray can
Oh gotcha. I think this is more durable.
With your honest review just sold me on Your product Thanks .
Great to hear!
Did u test the new formula or old cerakote formula?
the original formual. testing the new stuff now.
Have you tested DIY detail coatings?
I haven’t but I’ve heard really good things about them.
Did cerakote fix there latest ceramic coating?
No. I don’t think they know how to.
Can this be applied over wax?
No
Can I use your new products on a wrapped car?
Yes
Does the pure magic cleaner work on bugs on glass & paint/plastic after a long drive?
Yes. I’ll add it to my foam cannon to help break stuff down - ruclips.net/video/egMJTeEVNm4/видео.htmlsi=Tavq-6kMuSBgMvwF
What is the PH? @@autodetailingpodcast
pH is 4
The way I spill stuff. I have to stick with the more affordable hybrid ceramic or liquid wax.
Do u go tanning bro
Filters help I guess
Where can you get the meguiars coating
Amazon. I put a link in description
Just ordered your hard as shell product. Excited to try it
Eyyy!! Thanks for the support. You’re gonna love it.
Looks like a great product but $100 isn’t bad .. but Yeah that applicator is going to be hard to get under door handles
Totally! It’s an easy fix tho.
@@autodetailingpodcast I wonder if you can cut it and if you do would that hurt the structure of the pad
I’m sure it would be fine. That glue is pretty tough
You don't have to worry - the 7 day cure is pretty standard. But they do say this is a moisture cure, according to Meguiars.
@@autodetailingpodcast thank you. Meguiars is amazing. Is this available only to business or to public too?
Available to everyone
you should try bug remover on it
Bottle can hold 50ml but is probably filled to 40ml.
Value is not only in the price ....good show and thoughts.
How was the gloss enhancement?
It looked nice to me.
Good job Meguiars. Nice review! I have been waiting for it.
They nailed it on this one.
That a 89 Speedster?
Yes
how long does it last
they only say "multi year durability" but as we know how long coatings last will depend on how they are maintained.
7 day cure time?! Im not sure this would be good for shop use if you had to tell clients you needed their vehicle for 7 days. Also, its hard for anyone to go 7 days without their car.
It can get we after 24 hours. It can't have chemicals on it for 7 days or be washed.
Side note. How does water not puddle in your garage
idk, its slightly sloped to drain out the door. and its not super cold where im at, so any water left just dries up.
Why would anyone apply the $30 coating to their vehicle after prepping it when compared to this?
Idk but the $30 option isn’t available any more.
How long u had ur 89 speedster
It’s a clients. I just store it. They bought it new in 89 and picked it up in Germany.
Why dont they tell you how long it lasts other than multi year? A product at that price should have a time stamp like 2 years or 3 years.
not sure - I think brands are trying to get away from claims like that to be different, but it just makes people more confused.
Nice. I see it priced at $82 now.
I’m not gonna argue with ya on that. I definitely recommend people just buy my stuff and use it often!!!
is that little bottle enough to cover an entire car?
Yes
7 days cure time.? Thats insane.
