Great job everyone. One favor though. Although the slow motion and fast motion may look cool, it doesn't help us at home. We are watching to see the speed that you are actually moving the machine around. We can't tell that if you keep showing slow motion/fast motion. Better to just keep it on real time speed. Thank you!
Hey dude Ive been polishing cars for 20 years and when you do it in slow motion with this Da machine its to make the pad rotate only for renovating the paint with the right pad.And when you move it faster and more slightly its for polishing.
Today was my first time detailing my car. I watched your video twice, then I jumped right at it. I'm very impressed with the results and the ease of it. Thanks for the easy breakdown gentlemen.
Finally some practical info, not just marketing a product line. Other talk about product for 15 min then show video at 2x speed for 30 sec. Boom there you go. Thank you, beauty!
This is very useful. As a fan of old motors and fed up with detailers who adore shiny new motors I think I will buck my previous ambivalence to car cleaning and try this on the old E39 I just bought.
rarely do i watch anything on RUclips all the way thru if its longer than 2 min... i only skipped ahead 1 time so thats my version of an Emmy award (as if any cared about award shows) so give this guy a raise Meguiars as he has definitely increased your sales!
Fantastic job of explaining each step in detail. I'm going to attempt my first machine compound/polish soon and your video has given me the confidence to jump in! Cheers!
Thanks so much mate, I’ve recently new to polishing, and your video has helped me so much, I’ve seen countless videos and none have explained it as good as you guys
I was a pretty good at high speed buffing back in the late 80's and back then there was no DIY type systems. Never burned an edge, even on exotics. The way it is now makes it so easy. And I was using Meguiars back then as well! Good info here as I have restarted my biz as a side income
Mequiars 110 followed by 210 is golden. I had water spots all over and fallout/contamination. Clayed the whole car, hit it with 110 and then 210 and my paint looks brand new.
Excellent video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Schallingora Dexterous Programme Scheme (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good one off product for building any shed in no time with no experience without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my GF after many years got astronomical success with it.
So much more comfortable now after watching this video. Just 1 question, I was gonna do a little paint touch up on my car's bonnet and my plan was to fill in the chips with the paint but I want the surface to be really with the rest of the paint but I don't want to wet sand as the car has a metallic finish and The thought of sanding paint terrifies me. Could I use a DA Polisher and the buffing compound to smooth out the filled-in chip?
All these videos I've seen show working one section so I'm curious. I'd suppose you're applying more product as you work a new section. When do you get to cleaning or swapping pads?
There are several factors in doing a pro job. One place I discovered which successfully combines these is the Magic Painter Method (google it if you're interested) definately the most helpful course that I have ever seen. Check out this amazing resource.
Hi guys love your series of video. One request would be to indicate whenever the video is speed up when you are working on the car so it can give the viewer a better understanding on how fast they should move their pad.
I did this on my 1999 red Saab vert and it came out great! I used their Gold canuba wax and finished upkeep with the detail spray in the maroon colored bottle. Nice
Great vid thank you. My question is the bonnet nice and flat but what happens using the polisher on the sharper curves and bends when its not so easy to keep the polisher on a flat and even surface?
Use the palm of the pad as much as you can and don't let the back plate hit the car surface. Also be aware that you can sling product if any part of the pad is raised.
Can someone please list down the speeds used for 1. Spreading the products . What is the speed to be set on the DA ? They said lowest which would be ? 2. Speed of DA when applying compound ? 3. Speed of SW when applying Polish ? 4. Speed of DA when applying the final wax ?
best video to date for me .I am a green horn but started right away with your product and am very pleased. Thanks for the video now making a very time consuming project it even easier and faster.
Very easy steps to follow for the junior detailer to Work with..thank-you My question is this....when would I be able to put either a silicone finishing coat or ceramic seal on the finish surface...
Excellent video showcasing the Meguire's products and how they should be applied. One point I would make is, color code your towels by application. It helps the simple person (me!) keep from making mistakes. Thank you for posting.
I do that. Makes it so much easier. I got towels to match the pad. Orange pad gets orange towels, blue pad blue towels etc. my gray towels are strictly for drying.
Hi,my car is like the left hand side of the bonnet,a cobwebbed effect, white paint work, seeing this video has made me easy it is using the MT320,plus the polishes,I will have to try it,thanks for the video 👍.
Hey guys! love your MT320 just bought one recently and love your products! Could you please do a video on how to clean the foam pads and microfiber towels, and how to maintain them? Keeping in mind also people who dont have air compressors to blow out the compounds/polishes from the pad :) cheers!
No worries! Simply hover out any product from the pad whilst the machine is on the slowest speed. And the great thing is the pads and towels are machine washable! Just make sure you don't add any softeners.
@@meguiarsuk I have a project on introducing your products to my country which doesn't have any, it's a big business as we don't have car detailers so a big franchise to sell meguiars products will be more than welcome, let me know how to reach you privately for more details
Good job, but you should show prepping the paintwork correctly removing any contaminates, and cleaning the pads between sections for people like me who are new to the process.
You polish to remove any fine scratches and swirl marks and also to bring back the shine, have to use a Polish after a compound. Then you can use your wax
great video!, so for people who can't do it indoors like me, i don't have a big enough garden or have a garage. i only can do it out front of house or back. So i take it will be ok outside? depending on weather, but take it not to be hot outside or in sun ?
Could you theoretically cut, then polish and then add a clear coat? Have a beater which has no clear left at all, although base coat is strong. Or should it just be sanded with 1200ish? I know it will never be good as giving a new base, then clearing, but all i want is protection from UV and stone chips.
@16:15 - "The oils that are in the polish are feeding into the paint..." That hard clear coat on the BMW might have something to say about any oils "feeding" into the paint.
Do I need to use this first step on a brand new vehicle ??? I have seen other videos, it's somewhat confusing, I understand the clay process. Then the next step is to move on to a polishing compound. Do I still need to do the compound process ??? Thank you for your help/advice !!!!
Well explained. The slowest speed is actually one that gets the job done fast. I'm thinking that's more for the professional who is trying to make a living. The home guy would rather take his time - even though this dual action is supposed to prevent burning through, it still will burn through if you dwell too long in one area, because those machines go relatively fast.
Excellent video. How much of the compound (in bottle) do you end-up using per full polish? One full bottle, 1/2 a bottle or more? Are there specific soaps/shampoos to use before the decontamination? This is a super video and I liked it so much! Does the product that's applied at the end have paint protection? If so, how long is the protection? So, the way I understood the overall application of the products is that you do the first application once a year. In the case of this car, the three products are used one after the other. Thereafter, you will only use the last two products twice per year and then after only the last product is used, correct?
Loved this video. This is one of the few videos that doesn’t over complicate it. I appreciate you letting the noobies mistake in the video. We’re all human.
Super useful video! Thank you. Few questions - can you wash the pads after and use them again, or are they single-use? Also, how many times can you do this before damaging/thinning the clear coat? I did a small trial polish to remove a few light scratches, it worked great. I wanted to do it again, but for the entire car this time. Should I space the procedures out some?
How many times or how long should the compound polisher be moved on a car paint ? Like is there any SOP or rule or any sign that indicates that now the polisher should be stopped and wipped off ?
You should be able to do a whole car with one pad. If you find it is getting too clogged up with product then use a vacuum to remove any product from the pad.
Brilliant video... Been using your products for about 4 years now, got my 15 year old dailied Clio to show standard. Love it.... Can't wait to try the DA out
I think IPAs are mostly for when you want to use a sealant or coating so they bond to the paint without any residual oils. I think going from polish to wax is more forgiving.
can uneven preasure on the machine when one step correcting cause different rotation speeds result in micro marrings usind da polisher 8mm +15 mm off set ? Google does not know answer to this question :)
Well done Guys. Great explanation and awesome presentation. I am definitely more confident now to machine polish my car. Pravin Jugwanth, South Africa.
Yes, saturating a new/dry pad when cutting/compounding will prime it....then 5 dots going forward. You only need to prime at start of new compounding job when using a new/dry pad. For polishing they did not prime pad.
Just wondered how to wash your towels and pads? Do you put the towels in the washing machine with laundry powder/detergent or just wash with water? Also I have a different brand DA polisher which goes up to speed 6, would 5-6 be the best speed for cutting , 4-5 for polishing and min speed for waxing?
All our accessories are machine washable, just make sure you use regular detergents no softeners or conditioners. For the DA that sounds about right. Go in between each setting.
all accessories are machine washable with just normal detergents. No softeners or conditioners. It's hard to comment on other machines. Best start with a lower speed and see if that gets the results. If not speed it up.
Great job everyone. One favor though. Although the slow motion and fast motion may look cool, it doesn't help us at home. We are watching to see the speed that you are actually moving the machine around. We can't tell that if you keep showing slow motion/fast motion. Better to just keep it on real time speed. Thank you!
They have mentioned on another video 1 inch per second. Some that helps.
Hey dude Ive been polishing cars for 20 years and when you do it in slow motion with this Da machine its to make the pad rotate only for renovating the paint with the right pad.And when you move it faster and more slightly its for polishing.
They balanced it to show the speed.

Hi guys love your series of video.

Very true. The speeding up part of the video hides the true pace of each step; a very key detail.
