  • Welcome to the Meguiar's RUclips Channel.
    Patrick, our resident videographer and photographer has been with us 5 months now and has NO IDEA how to take care of his car.
    Many people like Patrick can sometimes get lost in the sea of car care products. What do I wash my car with? How can I keep it clean after I've washed it? It's the simple things that we want to help and educate you on.
    So, introducing "Detailing 101". A step by step guide on the basics of car care, featuring Patrick and his BMW E36. During this series you'll see us educate Patrick on the most simple ways to Wash, Clean & Prep, Polish, Protection and Maintain his car.
    Our aim is to share with you the simplest forms of car care, whether you're a non car guy, a car enthusiast, or someone that just wants to further their knowledge about detailing or the Meguiar's product range.
    After all that hard work removing the scratches and swirls, making your pain super glossy and reflective, it would be a real shame to see it go straight back to how it was before. Hence why we wax the car. In the past this stage of the detailing process has been the most resented. "Wax is so hard to take of" "Waxing takes too long"
    Well, in this video we learn the best and most efficient way to wax your car and protect all that hard work done previously.

    I just want to say how much i love this series. Having a beginner learning from a pro, asking questions and getting advice as they go is just great. Ive watched all these videos and have goten great tips even though ive detailed my own cars for 25 years...youre never too old to learn as ive never had to use a compound until a year or two ago when i first came across this series. Great work mates!

    Thumbs up from Germany! I learnt such a lot from this series in the past few weeks...I have been using Meguiar's products in the 90s and early 2000s and I have just begun to put some more time into care care and detailing again. I was quite confused by the many different products on the market but the Meguiar's UK videos and also the short tutorials by Meguiar's Germany brought back my confidence that I chose the right brand. Thanks so much!

    I have watched the 101 series through to this point and don’t think I have missed the point I am asking about. I have a brand new VW and want to keep it looking good as long as I can. Obviously it came out of the dealers looking nice and shiny but it has only had the basic treatment, by which I mean a wash and polish. I doubt they waxed it and it was definitely not ceramic coated. So my question is, should I do the compound stage to strip off whatever they used or should I just go straight in with polish and wax stages?

    • @soontirfel9219
      @soontirfel9219 Год назад +1

      Seeing how this comment was left a year ago, at this stage it would be good to use a light compound, followed by a polish, and finally a wax to add a layer of protection. Having worked in the make ready department at a dealership, I can promise with high percentage the dealership did not do a polish and wax. Make ready procedures involve a basic wash and removal of all sticker protectants.

    • @soontirfel9219
      @soontirfel9219 Год назад +1

      That really depends on the type of protection you're looking for. Ideally, if you're going to clay bar your vehicle, you would want to follow it up with a compound/polish and then wax the vehicle. If your paint is in great condition and little to no settlement build up exist, it is not necessary to clay bar before applying wax.

      After you have applied a good base layer of protection, spray wax's are great to maintain protection and prolong the life and need to apply another coating of protection.

    Could you also use the ceramic spray after the wax for extra protection or would that be overkill?

      You could however it would just mean rinsing the car off after getting it clean.

    Suggest a spray that can be used after wax for mild cleaning, maintenance of shine and gloss and should protect the wax too.

    Great video! I have a question though. I bought the Meguiars NXT wax and I want to know what to do with the provided applicator pad after applying the wax. Do I have to clean it or wash it before I use it after some weeks?

    Hi, is possible to buff a paste wax with a dual action polisher? Some waxes are an absolute nightmare one they've hazed. Cheers

    • @meguiarsuk
      @meguiarsuk  5 лет назад

      A duel action polisher isn't designed to remove wax, all of the Meguiar's paste waxes with a thin coat applied to the surface should be easy to remove with a microfibre towel. The main benefit for having a DA Polisher is defect removal.

      @@meguiarsuk DUAL Action - you're not doing pistols at dawn, are you?!! 🤦‍♂ The PO even wrote it correctly in his comment.

    Only thing about the Ultimate Wax i don’t like is it dries to clear. I can’t tell where i waxed. 🥺 but it applies easy dries fast and if alittle gets on plastic parts and trims doesn’t leave. Haze finish to it

    do you have to use a ipa after compounding when applying a wax or sealant

    • @meguiarsuk
      @meguiarsuk  5 лет назад +1

      You don't have to no. You can go from wiping off the compound with a microfibre towel straight into polishing or waxing.

    Every time I buffed European makes, they would have swirl marks. Even after using an orbital polisher.
