I never liked this romantic subplot, but the "called shot" as it were was amazing and a great running gag.

I had two little bits of improv I'm proud of to this day! The muted "Yay" and the "Highway to HFIL!" bit. :D

I won't lie: The image of Roshi seeing Goku instantly appear and just take his glasses while he's prepping a joint is the funniest mental image I've ever thought up.
one of my favorite lines to quote and i agree it is hilarious to imagine Roshi seeing Goku appear out of thin air after being gone for a few years, then in a charming innocent Goku way snatch the glasses off of his face and then vanish, and Roshi be all freaked out by it! darn near the funniest bit in the entire seriese in my opinion. "Goku just stole my glasses!"
I wish there was footage of that 😂 I mean imagine after it happens roshi just sits there joint down and says “I think it’s time for a break PIG HIDE THE STASH!!”
I love how Gohan goes “The worst [mom] can do is ground me, now run!” It shows that as exasperated as he is with his father he still loves him.

I love that out of the two people having to record moans for a sex scene, the most embarrassed one was the third person editing

@@LJ-hk4tv Yeah, if a friend came to me and asked if I could record some moans for his RUclips video I'd be like "Why...?" and "Hell yeah!" once he tells me is for a scene between Vegeta and Bulma
To be fair, it has to be extremely awkward to sit down with a good platonic friend and have them record moans for a sex scene for you. Like imagine telling them you need to do multiple takes because it doesn't sound enough like the character. I'm dying of embarrassment just thinking about doing that.
@@Player_Redacted I think a difference is, while embarrassing as hell still, there is still that line between "entertainer" and "friend", where Kaiser asked as an entertainer to get their friends to record the moans, the friend part was "We are doing this one at a time".
And this guy had to record moans for both Vegeta AND Krillin later on.

"Oh my Gamikai" followed immediately by Piccolo bursting out laughing off-screen is probably one of my favorite exchanges in DBZA. It's just a simple joke that works very well.

The pop effect for lani wasn't necessary, but understand how deeply appreciated it is.

As a Brit, I automatically heard this as Goku being fed their vomit like they were mama birds or something - from Masako's tones it sounds like he thought it was weird but also aliens do be weird sometimes, let it go. That's the impression I got, anyway.
I was under the impression that sick meant semen at one point which made this all the more foul.

Fun fact: in the German dub they actually referred to them as Cyborgs and it was reflected in their names as well. Android 18 for example is called C18. They never call her just 18, they always go for C18

In retrospect, 34 pushed alot of boundaries for the series. Between the Bulma/Vegeta scene, the first uncensored "fuck", the implication of Goku eating alien vomit, and Yamcha... unaliving himself, it's kind of a miracle this episode didn't get shot down

That's probably why 17 and 18 were so much stronger than in Trunk's timeline. Yamcha survived.
I'm Irish, for years I thought the "Feeding me their sick" line meant vomit cause thats just what we call it, and now the conversation with Cell later "You eat people all the time!" "Yes, and I'm a monster." Makes so much more sense to me.
"Yamcha, you're my friend." It means much more when you realize Yamcha IS one of Goku's oldest friends 😭. They've known each other since the first Dragonball series.
That “dammit!” after Goku says “Bulma’s your mother?” is still hilarious to me. One of the best delivered lines.

Honey is technically bee vomit, and birds feed their young this way - so the thought didn't really bother me much.
If anything, I think it works better than Goku eating the sick & feeble of their people especially in context of the Episode of Bardock Abridged and the proto-Saiyan's 'healing spooge'.

I'm one of the people who assumed Goku meant "sick" as in "vomit," by the way. I knew Goku's voice actor was British, and vomit being a strange foreign delicacy made more sense to me than consuming dying people, so the intended meaning of the line literally never even occurred to me until Goku said "sick aliens" while explaining to Cell why he can teleport.
It’s pretty cool how your take on Vegeta and Bulma’s relationship was pretty much made cannon as the source of attraction from Goku and Vegeta to their wives
19:00 Dragonball Z Abridged has given me so many fond memories and laughs, but this right here is my absolute favorite part of the entire series. So touching.

Also, darkening that Yamcha joke with Puar like that would've been fucking diabolical. I can't even imagine how that would've coldcocked me on first watch if you'd gone with it.
I always assumed that goku getting Instant Transmission by eating the Yardrats was your way of explaining why he never teaches (or at least offers to teach) anybody else this INSANELY USEFUL TECHNIQUE.

Kaiser for what it’s worth, when the pop appears it is such a fantastic moment BECAUSE it contrasts with how the transmission worked up until then.
I appreciate the use of OSP's Journey to the West when you talk the Sun Wukong joke. Mostly because Red used to do the whole "Last time on Dragon Ball Z!" but with her Journey to the West episodes. Even used the one track from Faulconer's score from it.
It honestly made me smile when I saw Journey to the west drawings by Overly Sarcastic Productions.

He's just been consistently on fire from the very start with the commentary, the quips, the whole experience. It's been a joy to sit back and re-watch the series in this light.

Completely agree! I found the yugioh abridged first, but I didn't REALLY get into them until Lani's yuyuhakusho. I wouldn't have seen dbza if not for Lani. He was my bridge.
He's always been my favorite of the cast. Always hitting the nail in the head with his comedy. Kaiser has the best insightful comedy that really touches on the original material and manga, and Taka just brings so much energy and wild ideas to the writing, but I've always felt that Nick has perfect comedic timing. Love the 3 of them.

Lani has always been the meat of these commentaries, both here and on thr gaming channel. He's substantial, a little boring on his own, but he makes other flavors work so much better when mixed.
The little aside where Vegeta appreciates Bulma's phrasing of "murder that son of a bitch in cold blood!" is nice, I like that it's a little bit of foreshadowing, and it's totally something Vegeta would be into
Nick immediately dropping into Piccolo in the last couple minutes was honestly just very cool
Piccolo being Goku's brother is the perfect way to describe their relationship.
Love how proud Lani is of that “swing of things” pun. 🤣
the "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE" from vegeta is so underrated. makes me crack up every time

According to my memory, Trunks did tell Goku that Gero made the androids, but they didn't know that 20 was Gero until Bulma recognized him.
I think it's implied they think Gero is *dead*

One of the things I love about the Android Saga is the arc is perfectly constructed to follow the typical Dragonball Z formula: Threat arrives -> Z Fighters struggle to hold threat at bay -> Goku arrives to save the day. It's reasonable to assume that if Trunks *hadn't* have arrived and intervened when he did, the group on the ridge would have confronted Frieza and Cold, making a heroic last stand as they picked off fighters one at a time, until Goku's pod landed just in time for him to save the day at the 11th hour. One can see the arc forming so clearly, but it was all diverted by Trunks and the rest is alternate timeline history.
At 9:55 or so, Lani being able to do Puar's voice that well on such short notice was downright unsettling.
Trunks: "I'm very excited to go back in time and meet Superman!"
Trunks later: *meets Booster Gold*

25:40 - tbh it makes sense from Goku’s history, considering that every major villain (baring Pilaf, Red Ribbon, King Piccolo, and Freezer) has eventually become his ally.
Plus, he also wants a fair fight, and with the heart virus problem taken care off and given time and motivation to prepare, it makes sense that the team would feel confident taking them on.

The whole thing about Goku never saying Freeza's name right is amazing considering Masako cameo'd in a Newgrounds short where he said Freeza correctly. Hearing that gave me a little bit of a crisis

16:57 Speaking as a Brit, I actually thought it was a Goku-translation of the Yardrats doing a similar thing to mother birds, where they will partially digest the food themselves then regurgitate it into the chicks' beaks. I figured given Goku wouldn't understand that part, he'd just refer to it as sick(vomit), and leave it at that. Finding out it actually was meant to refer to sick aliens really threw me off.
