"Even you, best buddy" is unironically the best rewrite for Vegeta. He never stops calling Goku by his saiyan name, but nonetheless changes the way he addresses him as an acceptance of their relationship in his final moments.

I actually think it makes more sense for Trunks to call him Goku since Bulma probably raises him way more than Vegeta does so he’d hear her call him Goku more than he’d hear Vegeta call him Kakarot considering Vegeta most likely isn’t sitting down at all the family dinners and picking him up from school.
The Vegeta sacrifice scene was the perfect book-end to the "Vegeta, NO! Vegeta, YES!" running gag, which has always been about the people who barely tolerated him watching him do something selfish and stupid. Now it's being used for the friends he's made over the years, who genuinely don't want to see him die while he does something noble and selfless. Him calling Goku his best buddy was the cherry on top.
Same, that and Majin Vegeta's awakening and the final Spirit Bomb were my top 3 easily. Gokorot and the spirit bomb because it was funny, and Majin Vegeta genuinely gave me chills and even left me emotional that I had to pause the video the first time I saw it.

They said that no direct attacks can work on Dabura. Buu waltzes right on up to Dabura and decks him in the eyes. Dabura's plot armor must've jettisoned itself to the four winds.
it was but for some reason i felt no emotion in that moment. its def an iconic moment in dbz but i think because this was only done in segments thats why it didnt hit that hard for me. and dbza vegeta was my favorite version of him. im glad they didnt go with the "nope still hate it" take cause that def wouldve taken away from how impactful and serious that moment was.

@Crocogator it's just so perfect... Things just went horribly wrong in a way even Goku could predict, but mixed with nervous laughter and that very Goku excitement that comes when he knows he's about to get a real fight.
The best part is, Super made it Canon that Goku just...nonchalantly spends Bulma's money to solve his problems. And since their ending takes place after Super, it means they're just continuing the trend
I love that in the abridged version its so clear that popo could solo the entire abridged verse with one hand tied behind his back and just DECIDES to let everyone eat it while watching

Other than patreon, they can't try to directly fund the abridged without technically earning income off of it. In which case it's an easy lawsuit win. Someone donating or paying for the project on a personal level is less legal trouble. We just need someone to win the lottery for all our sakes.

I consider the “Vegeta, yes” bit as a masterpiece. That phrase managed to encapsulate Vegeta's pride, arrogance, and character development throughout the original series, yet including the originality and touch of DBZA. It's truly a script writing tribute fulfilled through a more than dignifying voice acting performance.

I like the idea of Sharpener as the sassy best friend unable to stop himself from razzing everyone he loves. It makes me imagine there's this one person he absolutely can't stand, and he goes absolutely dead silent whenever they're in the same room together.
That's one of the things I love about TFS. They have a lot of respect for the original show so they never ruin a classic scene for the sake of comedy and they keep a perfect balance of funny and emotional
Yeah super impressive. They make it possible by setting the average of the entire thing to be pretty funny, which is SO impressive. Like, a good portion of the jokes were dirty jokes which I normally don't like at all, but they still made it really funny. Especially Cell. He was a walking talking pervert joke and it was hilarious. All the innuendos and double meanings with everything he said were both clever and funny. He, nor anyone else, went too far with the crude remarks, which kept it nice. Anyways, yeah the average level of humor allowed for them to make the serious moments still emotional. You're still right, they could have still overdone it and lost the serious tone. But they didn't and kept the plot and kept emotions rollercoastering all throughout. Just so much great work all around!
@mikehab7453 Vegeta died and did not kill Buu. He took Buu’s attention off of the boys though. Goku is dead for a decent portion of the arc but ends up cleaning house with a Spirit Bomb.
if shin had a better idea of goku's psychology he would've focused on how buu is a bottomless pit of hunger who'd eat all the chocolate and bacon in the world and leave nothing for everyone else

The "No, I am an adult" was the best callback in animation history. Plus the scene where Mr. Popo just raises one hand and the spirit bomb just exponentially gets bigger. And dende's hate of Videl was something we saw so long ago. God I missed DBZA. I still wish full versions of Buu Saga comes out. I'll just have my fingers crossed.
Even without a proper season 4, this really does do well enough to be one. It's JUST coherent enough to be followed and it hits all the right highlights

Watched TFS since I was 13 I’m 24 now and hearing Gohan say “no, I am an adult” made me tear up we’ve all come a long way since the end of the cell saga and I’m thankful to TFS for doing what said could never be done I’m sure I say this on behalf of everyone thank you Team Four Star we love you all!

Now when he's called up from the minors, he's out of practice, he's a nerd who likes homework and fucking his wife and NOT fighting, etc. so of course he can't stomp Hit or jiren or what have you. It's just pragmatic more than anything, which is probably the worst part about it, it's the path of least resistance to an artificial ending.

That's one of the things I love about TFS. They have a lot of respect for the original show so they never ruin a classic scene for the sake of comedy and they keep a perfect balance of funny and emotional
Yeah super impressive. They make it possible by setting the average of the entire thing to be pretty funny, which is SO impressive. Like, a good portion of the jokes were dirty jokes which I normally don't like at all, but they still made it really funny. Especially Cell. He was a walking talking pervert joke and it was hilarious. All the innuendos and double meanings with everything he said were both clever and funny. He, nor anyone else, went too far with the crude remarks, which kept it nice.
Anyways, yeah the average level of humor allowed for them to make the serious moments still emotional. You're still right, they could have still overdone it and lost the serious tone. But they didn't and kept the plot and kept emotions rollercoastering all throughout. Just so much great work all around!

@JokerX126 plot hole not the writers' fault. the money behind the project saw gohan selling worse (because of course he sold worse at the start, he's a new protag) and insisted there's no longevity in it, which they may have been right about, but I'd bet probably not, either way they wanted the big guy back for good and what money says goes.
@JokerX126 Which is to say that if you get gohan to no diff kid buu, then there's the obvious question of "Hey, why aren't we just, like, constantly using gohan when he's objectively the strongest?" so what you wanna do is pretend it never happened, and have gohan stop appearing to anywhere near that degree. Now when he's called up from the minors, he's out of practice, he's a nerd who likes homework and fucking his wife and NOT fighting, etc. so of course he can't stomp Hit or jiren or what have you. It's just pragmatic more than anything, which is probably the worst part about it, it's the path of least resistance to an artificial ending.
