- This is the video update for me riding through Iran, on my journey from Malaysia to the UK on my Honda C90.
This video may be long-winded but it needs to be to truely show just how awesome Iran is!
I'm so glad I went through there and not avoid it like the newspapers and government try to make you do.

I work 60 hour weeks and lead a simple life when I'm in the UK. If you don't buy a new car, fancy clothes and have a mortgage it's amazing how much money you can save :)

Please consider that people of Iran have been through a lot recently; revolution, eight years war with Iraq (Iraq invaded Iran), devastating sanctions against Iran which still persist, with a huge toll on middle class, yet Iranians have, for the most part, preserved their humanity - I assure you if many other counties in the world had gone through as much suffering as Iranians have, they would have devoured themselves as well as any other person in their path. Iranians by nature are accommodating, proud and welcoming. They prefer to offer best food, best bed, best every thing to their guest than their own family. They see their guest as their responsibility. Of course there are some old and new lingering issues with Iranian society, but I am certain they will resolve those issues sooner or later; that's the way of old civilizations :) Cheers

+Mohammad Petgar Just to satisfy my curiosity, if I were to chose to travel there, how would I, as an American Vet, who loves food,history,different ideas/perspectives, languages and other cultures( and a small budget :D ) be treated. I got a good idea from watching the video itself, as I understand the British kid in the video somewhat, IMO The Brits are alittle more adept culturally.... whereas, correct me if I'm wrong, a typical American tourist is viewed, as rather ------- I don't know fill in the blanks, I've heard them all. I've been to Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Canada and all across the Untied States and sometime in the future I would like to travel.... well, "somewhere". I'm open to replies and suggestions, that are "helpful" to this dialogue, whatever they may be.

Hi Jay, as masoodtaheriy said, people of Iran do make a distinction between US foreign policy vs. American people. In fact, as you know better than I do, many Americans, even veterans, don't like their government policies either. After all, the right to carry guns was primarily for the protection American people felt necessary against the big brother. I am certain you would find many articles of Americans traveling to Iran and coming back with wonderful memories. You are a man of action, I am sure you will cherish the experience....cheers

My husband forwarded this to me and I plan on passing it on to my colleagues to use in their 11th grade World Lit./World Studies classes. I think this is a great tool to use with students to counter the dehumanization of the Iranian people by American Media/govt., but also to show the cynicism in which people in other western countries view the United States. A wonderful film. Honest, beautiful, and funny.

@@williamshafer3199 Sanctions are nothing of the sort. There is no divine right to free trade. Particularly for regimes that have publicly declared the destruction of our closest ally to be their biggest foreign policy objective. The Iranian people are the innocents in all of this, but if sanctions weren't an option, there would be open war and the collateral damage of human life would be far worse than the collateral damage of the denial of access to foreign trade.

I'd like to see that too, I think they would be pretty helpful. People can be a bit funny in the south of England but I think in the North and Wales, Scotland Ireland etc people do help out and like a chat. Also there'd be a constant stream of "I used to own one of these and did x y or z on it" at every fill up.

Im going on limb here , I started watching "Itchy Boots" when she went ot Iran and the video is very awsome .I recently came acroos C90 Adventures" when Noraly- had the acciednt in Nevada and C90 Came to her rescue,and from watching him in his journeys i can see where she got the idead of traveling all over the world and I'll gon on and say she problably had a chat with him about his travels to Iran- Itchy Boots was embraced by the Iranian People so much it was a eye opener for me - Brainwashed by the media like evryone else Irainian People are insanely friendly, I 'll try to make a visit in near future if posible to Iran Love the people and their hospitality .

This guy isn't exaggerating or being PC. This is exactly my experience in Iran. Everyone I spoke to was unbelievably helpful, friendly and generous. They were also overwhelmingly very knowledgeable and keen to discuss world affairs, arts, music, literature etc - even those who've been relatively poorly educated.
15 years ago I knew an Iranian family in the UK, we both ran local businesses. The Dad told me Iran was like this, it is nice to see it is so. I want to visit some day by bike
You should. It's an amazing place. I recommend going with someone though as you can get lost and English isn't exactly the best spoken there aha

I discovered your channel today. I'm riding the Mongol Rally next year on a 125 and had no interest going through Iran until this video. Just goes to show how the media can butcher such beautiful cultures

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world over many years with my job. Iran is by far my favourite destination. The people are so kind and friendly. The history so deep. It was wonderful to watch this video. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed.
Thank you for this video, i randomly ended up here. They were offering you food mostly to show their hospitality and it's considered rude if you don't accept the food. it's a lot different from the west. Being friendly to guests is our culture, you will see same hospitality in Pakistan / Qatar / Behrain / UAE etc. Syria / Iraq / Afghanistan were the same but there's nothing much left there to visit.

Loved this video. Brought back lots of memories. I rode solo through Iran for 3 weeks on a Yamaha RX135 in 2009 (the whole trip was Kathmandu to London in 4 months). I couldn't agree with you more about the wonderful people of Iran - and the freedom of being on a small bike. It was my favourite country too. Everyone picnics and is always asking you to join their family picnic. I also stayed in strangers houses and was offered wonderful fresh fruit breakfasts. You can't help but love the humanity of the place.
This was absolutely wonderful. So refreshing to see the true nature of human hospitality vs. what the U.S media shoves down our throats.

I think you will find they are wary, after receiving so much aggression and racism aimed at them, for trying to escape with their families to a place of safety, which it transpired was a nest of vipers, waiting to strike. My computer engineer, and local chippy are both iranians, and I've had long chats with them. They are SO aware and intelligent, and totally honest and generous. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and this video portrays them absolutely.

Met an Austrian bicyclist years ago who was completing an around-the-world trip. He had stopped in the Ayatollah Khomenei's home town in Iran. He asked the AK-47-toting guards outside Khomenei's tomb if they knew where he could pitch his tent for the night. Answer: behind that very building, no problem.
I watched this twice in one sitting. Brilliant. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. It's a shame, the propaganda surrounding this beautiful place and her people.

Love it Ed. my sister was seeing an Iranian guy for 3 years and it broke my heart and my whole family's heart when they broke up, he was by far the most genuine guy I have ever had the p,erasure to meet. Even now, 5 years later, I still travel 25 miles to go and see him and just sit and have coffee in his little coffee shop in Solihull

I am born and living in Germany, my parents are both Iranian and I have never been to my "homecountry", somehow I learned to speak farsi (persian language) probably as an infant hearing my parents talking.
It makes me happy to see that all the things my parents have told me seem to fit my background culture.
I adore the persian culture, the land of the aryan people! And Im also very frustrated about the government which took this nation down to it's knee's.
I hope from the bottom of my heart, that it will fall. That there will be democracy and a free spirit. Where woman can dress how they want and believe in whatever thought, religion, spirit they think is appropriate to them.
I bow towards you mate, that you made that journey and gave yourself the sight of view on that country!

However my English is much better as once I went to school etc my Farsi fell very much to the wayside. Possibly/Probably like this for other languages too but I really only know about Iranian families in the US :P

I did a DNA test a while back and found out my origins are from south west Persia/Iran.
I can't wait to visit the home of my ancestors.

Can you elaborate what DNA testing company that was where you did your test? I have yet to find one that does DNA testing that detailed as you described.

What a lovely, heart warming insight into that country of lovely people. I have learned from travelling and also watching travel programmes like this, that the vast majority of people in the world are friendly and willing to share what they have with strangers. In fact, I`m ashamed to say that England is far less friendly to strangers, than Iran is.

Because of the love of the people of Iran. I was born and raised in the United States. And again what’s on the news and in the papers is a lot of dishonesty. I would go to Iran in a heartbeat. Because of the love of the people that’s what guides me is the heart I’ve been traveling throughout the United States with my 16-year-old son mostly to Montana and the mid- west . . I love that your C90s are literally 1200 CCs smaller than my adventure bike and you properly adventure degrees beyond me. Also, Iran is one of my favoritest countries, with Isfahan being one of my favorite cities (and I've traveled to many countries). Wonderful food, beautiful friendly people, rich culture.
The hospitality is incredible! This only place I've been that is nice like this, is Japan. This definitely opened my eyes on a country I knew little about.

My wife is 1/2 Iranian and her father is from Tehran. Her father is the most content person I have ever met. He is never in a bad mood. I am not saying he doesn't get upset with certain things that happen but he has never treated me with an ounce of disrespect or ever presented himself in a sloppy/tired fashion. I've also had the chance to meet her aunts, uncles and cousins and they are all equally hardworking, content and respectful. I hope this video helps to shed light on the fact that Iranian people are not how they are depicted on American TV. And it turns out their food is AWESOME!

Loved your Video. I'm old but I had the chance in the late 1970s, (1978-1979), to attend electronics school in the Navy with several Iranian International students who were brilliant. The Iranian people were funny and happy and sharing people. (one didn't get the idea of the speeding ticket, he had a glove box full of them but with Diplomatic Immunity, he didn't care....LoL) The Shaw of Iran was deposed and Ayatollah Rolah Kommeni took over Iranian government, and I lost my friends....they were all killed upon their immediate return because they shared the "Vision" of the Shaw.....You're video reminded me of their kindness, and friendliness and happiness as a people whom I knew. Thank you.

I keep hearing stories from that period of time and every time they are just depressing.
Not too long ago I found a tale from a f-14 tomcat pilot who was either instructor to, or learning alongside with Iranian pilots who were going to become the first f-14 pilots and instructors for Iranian airforce. When the coup happened most of them were either killed or escaped as refugees. Same story, brilliant and super nice folk.

It's awesome looking at this video, albeit a bit old. I'm doing a trip on a Honda Dream through Vietnam and Cambodia and I wish I could take my bike all the way through back to the Netherlands. It's nice to see the real side of Iran, not many people get to see it and many often gaze at me in surprise when I tell them how hospitable they are and how beautiful the country is. It was really refreshing to see as it's sad in America though we do hear that there are many different voices in Iran, we typically only hear a negative angle on the country in general (mostly toward their "regime" or whatever). It actually was the Government of Canada that perpetrated the myth that Canadians are polite and friendly in order to increase immigration and foreign travelers.
Unfortunately the opposite is more often the case .
Having traveled about 900,000 km ( On motorcycle ) in Canada and the USA ( i am Canadian ) i can confidently say Canadians only have a superficial veneer of civility.
When the chips are down and you really need help , you are ALONE in Canada . If you help someone , you will be lucky to get a " Thanks ".
I experienced more acts of random kindness in Americas heartland ( republican states ) than i can remember . People just caring for your welfare for no other reason than they had good hearts . Offers of food , lodging and even money when myself and my family had broken down in Georgia .
Sadly , this is not the case on the west and east coasts ( democrat areas ) . Interestingly it is the democrats that perpetrate the negative image of Iran .
This has been my experience over the last 50 years and it is the truth .
Maybe others have has different experiences but if you have traveled Canada and the USA generally you will be of the same opinion. ,

@@ethics3 I am a Canadian and agree with you. I haven't travel much in the US, but spent a fair amount if time in Texas and they are far more hospitable than Canadians.
