I will never get over Flight 93 and the sheer bravery and patriotism of the passengers. It was really just a small group that coordinated the whole thing. All it took was a few people learning about the planes hitting the Towers, and they just knew what they had to do.

    • @The8BitNerd

Something that’s often overlooked is that the flight was delayed by an hour, had it not been for the delay, the hijacking would have occurred much earlier before the news of the other attacks went through.
And the plane likely would have reached its target.

And the odd, coldly delivered cellular goodbye phonecalls from the passengers to their loved ones before they "breached the cockpit with a stewards trolley, LETS ROLL!" ?
You know? The ones that the 2000's era ground based celltowers picked up? From an airliner at 30,000 feet?
Those towers whose range doesn't even reach _half_ that height?
This is just one, _one_ irregularity of the _thousands_ associated with this event.
Hit a nerve eh? Good. Seethe.

Slight correction. Professional snake handler Lawrence Van Sertima was bit by a Taipan snake on September 11 and taken to a hospital in Miami by helicopter. All Taipan antivenom vials in the state of Florida were used on Van Sertima but he ultimately needed more. The only locations that had Taipan antivenom were New York and San Diego. Since New York was obviously not an option that day, the extra antivenom had to come from San Diego. The director of the hospital requested FAA approval for a Learjet 36 to carry the antivenom from San Diego to Miami which was granted. The Learjet landed in Miami at 4PM on Wednesday after being escorted by two fighter jets, and Van Sertima survived.

If this was indeed done by Arab terrorists, why did they get access so easily to fly the plane and why did the American Air Force not try to intercept the second plane and so on before they reached the WTC and the Pentagon?

There were two F-15’s that got up in the air with only 100 rounds of training ammo (no missiles or other weapons). They were sent to intercept Flight 93 when it stopped talking to ATC. The two pilots made a plan in the air that one would ram their plane into the cockpit while the other rammed their plane into the tail since they had no weapons, but the passengers fought back and the plane crashed in PA before they got there. The pilots were Major Heather Penney and General Marc Sasseville.

The part about "Angel is next" you are correct about that message being received, but the name Angel is the plane's actual name not a inside code name. Angel One and Angel Two because there are two jets and only when the president steps foot on board then it becomes Airforce One because thats his designated call sign. Any plane he boards becomes Airforce one and any helicopter he is on becomes Marine one. Thats pretty cool really!!

If the president is not onboard, the 747s are referred to by tail numbers: SAM 28000 and 29000. Any Air Force aircraft (including helicopters) becomes AF1 when the President is on board. Any marine aircraft becomes Marine One. Navy > Navy One (Bush Jr), Space Force > SF1 (hasn't happened yet). The cool one is if the president is on a private or commercial aircraft, it becomes Executive One. Only happened once with Nixon.
And their aren't just the two 747 Air Force planes available to the president. They also have a 737, a 757, and a couple Gulfstreams all in executive livery. The entire 89th Airlift Wing is just executive-related air transport.

    • @davidliu323
      @davidliu323 2 месяца назад

This is not entirely correct. Air Force One is the name of any Air Force aircraft, plane or helicopter, that the President steps into. Marine One is for any Marine aircraft, plane or helicopter. If the President stepped into a Navy C-40 or P-8 for example, it would be called Navy One. It has nothing to do with the type of aircraft, only what branch of military the aircraft is from.

Thats over seas, not at home, during "peacetime" at 9/8/7/6am depending on your time zone. 2nd, as stated in the video, AF1 was making decisions on its own and flying as the secret service saw fit without outside notice, granted they did fly over Pensacola and jacksonville which house the navy epicenter of East coast fighter jets.
going back to your 1st comment, the FAA/ATC were more than likely not aware of the simultaneous hijacking of 4 aircraft fast enough to be able to notify regional air commands for interception. Also, if they did manage an intercept, you'll need to think about how the pilot and mission command will be thinking, "hey, there are hundreds of innocent people on-board, and the debris could land in a populated area, do you fire on the aircraft?"

I live in Sweden 🇸🇪. At this time we had a new office lacking only one thing. A tv antenna or cable. Internet news outlets were overloaded instantly after this event started. Sweden is 7 hours ahead of New York. So the first mentions of this happened in the early afternoon here.
I was working at Ericsson the telecom company at the time and later that afternoon I was taking a flight to London for a 3 day conference. We actually did go. On a British Airways Boeing 767 3 hours delayed since 3 passengers with loaded bags were missing. It was total chaos and changes flying forever. Also during the conference they said that “of course keep your phones on!” We were glued to tvs and radio in taxis all night that day making our way to London and our hotel. On the return trip security was forever changed and everything down to a hairpin had to be left behind in plastic bags. A horrible event that still fascinates and terrifies people to this day, which probably was intended. Also sparked a lot of conspiracy theories. I will never forget 9/11 2001

You all were so brave and we are so thankful for your selfless collaboration. I will never forget that day. Only a few years earlier because of my own family abusing me, I had tried to commit suicide to escape my family so seeing the people jump from the towers in desperation maybe thinking maybe they might have a chance, maybe not knowing how close they were or not to the ground as it was being destroyed, just knotted my stomach, twisted my heart in pain and made me cry. It still hurts my heart to see the footage. They were jumping but they were jumping because they had lives to get back to, family to live with, family who was waiting and hoping they would live. I remember my mom and I just sitting on the couch together snuggled up crying softly and singing along quietly/silently to the chorus of Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?" That was a beautiful song and remains a beautiful song.

Me and another guy were in a truck that had a radio which was tied into the PD and we started getting emergency signals…ah they’re just testing, let’s just continue picking up road debris. I will never forget how a street so busy, so many businesses and things was so eerily quiet. Then the news of a plane hitting the WTC hit but there is an airport in town with a lot of small single engine planes, so I figured someone hit an antenna or something…a few minutes later it was insanity. That night I went to a bar and you couldn’t get another body in there. It was incredible, news on every channel, ppl drinking but not drunk, everyone supportive of each other, ppl crying, ppl preparing to deploy. My ride to and from work the giant yellow brown cloud that hung in the air over that beautiful Island. We endured, regardless of all that was lost we continued. Just, with the stuff going on at our border, don’t think it can’t happen again and don’t forget a botched attempt happened before that. I’m not saying who to vote for but it’s not just ppl looking for a better life coming in. It’s people that HATE this country and all it stands for that would will try to bring us to our knees once again. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.

Three days? Make that three WEEKS! Unless my memory is completely gone, it was very close to 3 weeks before normal broadcast schedules resumed. In that entire three weeks, there was nothing but 9/11 coverage with only a very few exceptions. While it was unquestionably a huge and newsworthy event, I found it really tedious to see the same footage of the Towers falling time and time and time again, almost like it was on a loop. There were few facts and endless speculation to fill the rest of the time. I think it would have made much more sense to have left the normal broadcast schedule largely in place with frequent/regular updates as new FACTS were learned. Very little of the speculation about who was behind the attack, what they were trying to accomplish or what was next was useful; it only stoked people's fear. I would much rather have heard the verifiable facts as they were learned, not the speculation and fear-mongering that filled the airwaves.

I was 6 at the time. As confused as everyone was, no one was telling kids what was going on. Gradually things became clear and everyone went through the stages of grief and comforting each other but it was honestly a little scary how everyone was out for blood by the end of the day.
Howard stern went on the radio and openly called for genocide in the middle east. Just rattled off countries and said we should nuke them and leave nothing but a barren wasteland. And everyone agreed.

My grandma, grandpa, aunt and uncle were flying back from LA into Newark the morning of 9/11. As they were flying over NYC, my grandpa looked out the window to the twin towers and turned to my grandmother and said “We need to get up to those one of these days”. They landed 10 minutes before the first plane that crashed into the towers took off. They were on the tarmac with them.
