Just returned from a 4-weeks ride through Spain and Morocco. All you say in the video is absolutely true. The experiences, changing of landscapes and people etc. sooo fascinating! This is my addiction now, aged 68 yrs and full fit. Don’t need social media at all. Riding every day for 8-10 hrs on my own,staying with me alone. No graving for applause on WhatsApp & Co. Pavlin, this is your best video. You have captured the heart and soul of motorcycling. Just like you said, you never know when you will leave this world, so I try to get on my bike as often as I can. In September I go solo around France for 4 weeks. I am 70 years old and hope to ride till the end.
I'm 65 this august. I live in Philippines and have not driven a car or owned 1 in 4 years. I have 2 motorcycles a Yamaha aerox 155 for the Street and a motorstar 150 srII which is dual sport with big bore kit to 180cc. I prefer the Enduro than the Yamaha I like having a clutch and the Yamaha is automatic. The girl who lives with me hates the Enduro it's too high off the ground for her and it scares her. At least it gives me a reason to drive the aerox sometimes. If I was rich I would not buy a car here on this small island with curvy mountain roads a car is useless and I don't miss a car or a truck. I ride everyday, normally not far and if I go to a bigger stare on the end of the island it is only 1- 1/4 hours which is enough time for me on the seat. You can't drive faster than 70 kmph without risking driving off the mountain. Fastest I have driven anything was the aerox at 85 kmph and 8 had to slow down in a hurry. Normally to speed for me is on the long ride 60 to 65 kmph and in town 45 to 50 kmph. Anything bigger than 200 cc is a waste of money you cannot go faster than 70 kmph safely. A 125 is to small to go up the steep roads with a back rider and a 150 cc is about perfect. Both of my bikes have plenty of power to go up the steep roads. If the roads were flat a 125cc would be ok or if you and back rider together weighed 100 kg it would be fine, I'm 100 kg and back rider is 45 kg. 125 does not cut it for me. Right now I have a bad gout flare up and rode my 5 speed Enduro today. Gout will pass, and I always have the aerox if it hangs around to long. I love riding motorcycles. Perfect place for that here.

I fully agree. There is no identical feeling to going down a road, and completely losing track of time and just enjoying the moment surrounded by the environment and having the wind in your face. It's what I consider, for a few moments, the true feeling of freedom where time ceases to exist, and it's just us living in that precise moment, in that exact instant of time... You have to experience it to know how magnificent it is. PS: I love your videos! They were my baseline to follow when I decided to go in 2017 on a solo Moto-trip from Portugal to Mongolia, and Back to Portugal, on my 1995 Yamaha XT600E. Every time I see your videos, I always remember of all the memories from that trip. Thanks! 🙂
I had a rough day today. Hoped on the bike (R1) and just headed north. I met 4 Harley bros and before I know it , it was getting dark and I was 5 hours from home. Turned around I headed home. It was just what I needed. I feel better now
The best bike is the one you are riding. Every day could be your last. You won't see a motorbike parked in front of a psychiatrist office. It can however be difficult at times when traveling alone. Sometimes you are forced to think about things you don't want to. Safe journeys everybody 🙋♂️

Pavlin, I am in my mid 30s and you are one of the few male "adventurers" that I follow, purely because of your real life, level headed approach. Interestingly many female motorcycle adventure riders take less silly risks than males... though even here there is a shift starting, especially with sports bikes. I want my life on a motorcycle to last a long time. Keep it up. So excited for you, about the trip to Magadan.

Totally agree Pav! Addiction yes! Been riding a few years, and enjoyed 3 day trips. Now, 3 years into retirement, and on my 4th major trip in the states from Oregon to Kansas to visit my father. (Currently in Kansas with my pops) Anyways, camped last year, and consider it the best way to travel on a motorcycle. I have taken alot of tips from you and my time learning from you has been well spent. Nothing better than being on the open rode and I can't come close to articulating the joy of riding, but totally understand your feelings as expressed on your videos! Thank you!
I totally agree with you Pavel!. I really like your objective and straight to the point approach, so difficult to find nowadays. Not many people speak as clearly as you do in this world and times full of posers and false-hypocritical society. Keep it up. You transmit good vibes and lots of energy.
The only dark side I've experienced was in New Hampshire while riding with my brother in law and my sister. We were denied admission to one camp ground after another because they said they were for family camping! They wouldn't accept us as a family! We rode to Maine, in the night and found acceptance at the first sight We stopped at and have never again visited New Hampshire!

You are so right. When the departure date approaches, I start to doubt whether I will leave or not because I will miss my wife and my children. But there is the taste for discovering the world that attracts me. When I return from a trip, I am very happy to see my wife and my children. I don't feel like going on a trip anymore. I am satisfied. Two months later I start thinking about a new destination that I could do. When I ride a motorbike I'm so focused on the movie that's going on that I forget everything. I can relate. I bought my first bike Ninja 250R 2 years ago at age 43. I transform her in touring bike. At beginning short trips made me happy but this changed after first long trip and about a week after it started itching again and this year I pass till now several countries. I deleted all my social media posts because I notice that very few people actually apreciate photos to inspire them but instead they were jelous. So I dont post nothing anymore, I ride for myself and for now I dont see myself in any other bike than my Ninja. And when time comes I hope God will grant me another Ninja but this time 400 because they do not sell anymore 250. Happy and safe trips to you!
No offense but a Ninja 250 is one of the worst bikes you could ever ride. I ‘ve owned several bikes, ridden about a hundred, raced a few bikes. My buddy who I use to race and ride with had the audacity to buy his wife a Ninja 250. She complained to me that it was awful. I rode it, and it was the worst bike I ever ride. I asked my friend what did you do? That bike sucks! He sold it pretty quick.
I bought my first motorcycle 54 years ago. I'm having trouble loosing my need for speed. I started motorcycle life with a 360 yamaha two stroke enduro and moved to faster and faster road bikes. By 1982 I was on a GPZ 1100 Kawasaki. You have a great perspective. Enjoy the ride.
My (very understanding) wife told me recently: „Honey, you are always so happy and energetic after a motorcycle trip - how come?“ After watching this video, I realize I might be on a direct path to said bike riding addiction 😅

Your view is so valid and true. I've been watching a very popular women's channel for a couple of years now. She's always smiling. Always positive. At first I (as a female biker) was so impressed. Over time I became delusional about her vlogs. I started watching other channels. They showed tears. True experiences and feelings. Showed how they had to learn how to fix things themselves. They were and are real. Something I appreciate. Calling a spade a spade. Not sugar coating or putting a smile on your face portraying something that is not. Keep it real and truly show things as they are.

I'm taking a motorcycle class next week to get my license and I've always wanted to do a motorcycle trip. The things you say in this video are so profound, not even just in the context of motorcycle trips but just life. Real life. I wish to be on the roads and seeing things I've never seen before, meeting other humans in a strange place, tasting new things, experiencing both the highs and lows of travel and adventure, feeling the kindness of others and of the world. Not an online life that soooo many people including myself are trapped in.. staring at screens just thinking about what life could be and then rinsing and releasing that depressing cycle every day. We could be gone tomorrow. It was very eye opening for me. This is the first video of yours I've ever watched. It helped me tremendously and I will work to change my life. Thank you.

Excellent comments. Always laugh at myself, when I am on the road on my motorcycle, I miss my home. When I am home, I dream of my long distance motorcycle rides. Just finished a 10 day trip on my Motorcycle. Loved it.
This is such valuable advice. I say the same things to my 4 children: Be yourself and pursue *your* interests. Don't compare yourself to someone else; as long as you are happy and take care of yourself, what someone else does is not important!
Truer words were never spoken! Thanks for validating my choices in biking! After many years of Ducati riding, I found my personal dream bike...a now highly personalized 2007 DRZ400. After having installed the ACT wide ration gearbox and many other updates I've put 105,000km on my old creampuff and am now completely rebuilding him for many more years of true multi-strada adventure. I'm quite sure that absolutely nobody but the very well integrated would be even slightly impressed... I love it!

Travelling is a true teacher, surprise and wonder, appreciation of the world in all its forms..doing it on a motorcycle is living the dream. A perfect expression of adventure.
It's funny that I came across your video because what you describe is exactly what I have gone through. I rode for many years and unfortunately I had to give it up a few years ago due to financial hardships. My life become mundane and predictable although my financial position was now solid. Recently I made a decision to get into riding again soon and life once again has meaning! Riding is truly therapeutic.
strongly agree with this, the passion of motorcycling should come from inside a person, and should not affected by the online environment. You just simply make yourself happy instead of everyone.
It's probably the most important video you have produced, and I could agree with you more. I will add that, as a couple, we felt very disconnected from consumer culture when we finally got home. Don't get me wrong, we have some nice things in our lives, but our lives no longer revolve around the next purchase. Year two of our journey, I left social media, and other than a touch of RUclips I have’t been back. A massive blessing in my opinion.

Great video my friend!!! People should ride their bikes because they feel it, not because they have to post stuff. I ride a bike because i love it, my wife loves it, could not care less about social media. And also, when you ride and get to a great spot, just stop, enjoy it and forget all about posting, selfies and sharing, just stop and enjoy the view!

This is great advice, especially the part about social media. Social media is not real life! Some of the most fun I had on a motorcycle was riding a small motorbike from college to my parents house 90 miles away for a weekend visit home during spring term. Country roads, farm fields, no traffic, sun shining, flowers blooming, & the smell of spring. Stopping at the smallest restaurant in the smallest town I could find for lunch, and talking with the locals.
Good point of view I am 71 years old and you are right you don’t know when your number is up I try to ride every day thanks for the perspective ride safe ride free your perspective is in tune with my own
I have also fallen for this activity and adventure life. I'm type 1 diabetic, so I've always had to plan around that in order to continue living. Regardless, this is one of the few (many) hobbies I've had that gives so much back. I've got an 09 F800GS and it's been so joyful to turn left or right and find something new. There is truth that we don't know how long we'll be here. So might as well enjoy the time we have. Cheers, rubber side down.

You’re so right, Pavlin!. Social media is a huge market with no common sense rules. They sale and buy everything. Even your soul. More the hype is bigger, more i look the opposite way. I keep things as simple as i can. I do not like big adventure bikes with huge luggage with tones of technology. Big fairings, o lot of protection etc etc. I prefer naked simple bikes, minimal luggage and almost no plans in a trip. Just basic survival and the immense pleasure of traveling
Great content, not always news to me though I'llcomment about the goodies briefly further down, but it really gives me confidence that I'm doing some things right, which frees up brainpower/bandwidth on the other things. Your 'You don't need these... when travelling' was one of those little nuggets - order it online, ship to planned destination, service & job done.

Love your video! I agree 1000% … travel is extremely personal, my personal experiences were purely based on my ambition. First to circumnavigate South Africa Then to ride from Cape Town to Cairo After that I had to see Patagonia and Ushuaia… The addiction you speak of is real… the boredom of everyday life is overwhelming and in my opinion kills the lust for life Over the last short 16 year motorcycle travel has brought me more joy than I could ever begin to properly explain to those who have not had a taste of the freedom it allows. Bottom line is… work hard and wisely to afford yourself the TIME to travel.. Again thank you for sharing 👍😎
Well said.... today we have to store our bikes that hadn't been used for 3 1/2 years... 8000km in one month made up for long time home. Live your life yourself, There is no TV show more interesting then fulfill your own dreams. And never attempt to be something else, but You Yourself. Open your mind by exloring other horizons.

I like that! I do have kids and they use to listen to me when they were young. Now they have their lives and stories to tell.

I had a rough day today. Hoped on the bike (R1) and just headed north. I met 4 Harley bros and before I know it , it was getting dark and I was 5 hours from home. Turned around I headed home. It was just what I needed. I feel better now
The best bike is the one you are riding.
Every day could be your last.
You won't see a motorbike parked in front of a psychiatrist office.
It can however be difficult at times when traveling alone. Sometimes you are forced to think about things you don't want to.

Pavlin, I am in my mid 30s and you are one of the few male "adventurers" that I follow, purely because of your real life, level headed approach. Interestingly many female motorcycle adventure riders take less silly risks than males... though even here there is a shift starting, especially with sports bikes. Totally agree Pav! Addiction yes! Been riding a few years, and enjoyed 3 day trips. Now, 3 years into retirement, and on my 4th major trip in the states from Oregon to Kansas to visit my father. (Currently in Kansas with my pops) Anyways, camped last year, and consider it the best way to travel on a motorcycle. I have taken alot of tips from you and my time learning from you has been well spent. Nothing better than being on the open rode and I can't come close to articulating the joy of riding, but totally understand your feelings as expressed on your videos!

The only dark side I've experienced was in New Hampshire while riding with my brother in law and my sister. We were denied admission to one camp ground after another because they said they were for family camping! They wouldn't accept us as a family! We rode to Maine, in the night and found acceptance at the first sight We stopped at and have never again visited New Hampshire!

You are so right. When the departure date approaches, I start to doubt whether I will leave or not because I will miss my wife and my children. But there is the taste for discovering the world that attracts me. When I return from a trip, I am very happy to see my wife and my children. I don't feel like going on a trip anymore. I am satisfied. Two months later I start thinking about a new destination that I could do. When I ride a motorbike I'm so focused on the movie that's going on that I forget everything.

I can relate. I bought my first bike Ninja 250R 2 years ago at age 43. I transform her in touring bike. At beginning short trips made me happy but this changed after first long trip and about a week after it started itching again and this year I pass till now several countries. I deleted all my social media posts because I notice that very few people actually apreciate photos to inspire them but instead they were jelous. So I dont post nothing anymore, I ride for myself and for now I dont see myself in any other bike than my Ninja. And when time comes I hope God will grant me another Ninja but this time 400 because they do not sell anymore 250. Happy and safe trips to you!

Ninja 250 was the best bike I've had, first bike after getting license, did track days and short trips. Good memories. Glad you're enjoying yours.
And it has been said, you can't tour on a small bike. The many advantages of a smaller bike make it quite suitable for touring.
No offense but a Ninja 250 is one of the worst bikes you could ever ride. I ‘ve owned several bikes, ridden about a hundred, raced a few bikes. My buddy who I use to race and ride with had the audacity to buy his wife a Ninja 250. She complained to me that it was awful. I rode it, and it was the worst bike I ever ride. I asked my friend what did you do? That bike sucks! He sold it pretty quick.
I bought my first motorcycle 54 years ago. I'm having trouble loosing my need for speed. I started motorcycle life with a 360 yamaha two stroke enduro and moved to faster and faster road bikes. By 1982 I was on a GPZ 1100 Kawasaki. You have a great perspective. Enjoy the ride.

Your view is so valid and true. I've been watching a very popular women's channel for a couple of years now. She's always smiling. Always positive. At first I (as a female biker) was so impressed. Over time I became delusional about her vlogs. I started watching other channels. They showed tears. True experiences and feelings. Showed how they had to learn how to fix things themselves. They were and are real. Something I appreciate. Calling a spade a spade. Not sugar coating or putting a smile on your face portraying something that is not. Keep it real and truly show things as they are.

I'm taking a motorcycle class next week to get my license and I've always wanted to do a motorcycle trip. The things you say in this video are so profound, not even just in the context of motorcycle trips but just life. Real life. I wish to be on the roads and seeing things I've never seen before, meeting other humans in a strange place, tasting new things, experiencing both the highs and lows of travel and adventure, feeling the kindness of others and of the world. Not an online life that soooo many people including myself are trapped in.. staring at screens just thinking about what life could be and then rinsing and releasing that depressing cycle every day. We could be gone tomorrow. It was very eye opening for me. This is the first video of yours I've ever watched. It helped me tremendously and I will work to change my life. Thank you.

Truer words were never spoken! Thanks for validating my choices in biking! After many years of Ducati riding, I found my personal dream bike...a now highly personalized 2007 DRZ400. After having installed the ACT wide ration gearbox and many other updates I've put 105,000km on my old creampuff and am now completely rebuilding him for many more years of true multi-strada adventure.
I'm quite sure that absolutely nobody but the very well integrated would be even slightly impressed... I love it!

It's funny that I came across your video because what you describe is exactly what I have gone through. I rode for many years and unfortunately I had to give it up a few years ago due to financial hardships. My life become mundane and predictable although my financial position was now solid. Recently I made a decision to get into riding again soon and life once again has meaning! Riding is truly therapeutic.

It's probably the most important video you have produced, and I could agree with you more. I will add that, as a couple, we felt very disconnected from consumer culture when we finally got home. Don't get me wrong, we have some nice things in our lives, but our lives no longer revolve around the next purchase.
Year two of our journey, I left social media, and other than a touch of RUclips I have’t been back. A massive blessing in my opinion.

I ride a bike because i love it, my wife loves it, could not care less about social media. This is great advice, especially the part about social media. Social media is not real life! Some of the most fun I had on a motorcycle was riding a small motorbike from college to my parents house 90 miles away for a weekend visit home during spring term. Country roads, farm fields, no traffic, sun shining, flowers blooming, & the smell of spring. Stopping at the smallest restaurant in the smallest town I could find for lunch, and talking with the locals.

I have also fallen for this activity and adventure life. I'm type 1 diabetic, so I've always had to plan around that in order to continue living. Regardless, this is one of the few (many) hobbies I've had that gives so much back. I've got an 09 F800GS and it's been so joyful to turn left or right and find something new. There is truth that we don't know how long we'll be here. So might as well enjoy the time we have. Cheers, rubber side down.

You’re so right, Pavlin!. Social media is a huge market with no common sense rules. They sale and buy everything. Even your soul. More the hype is bigger, more i look the opposite way. I keep things as simple as i can. I do not like big adventure bikes with huge luggage with tones of technology. Big fairings, o lot of protection etc etc. I prefer naked simple bikes, minimal luggage and almost no plans in a trip. Just basic survival and the immense pleasure of traveling

I agree 1000% … travel is extremely personal, my personal experiences were purely based on my ambition.
First to circumnavigate South Africa
Then to ride from Cape Town to Cairo
After that I had to see Patagonia and Ushuaia…
The addiction you speak of is real… the boredom of everyday life is overwhelming and in my opinion kills the lust for life
Over the last short 16 year motorcycle travel has brought me more joy than I could ever begin to properly explain to those who have not had a taste of the freedom it allows.
Bottom line is… work hard and wisely to afford yourself the TIME to travel..

Well said.... today we have to store our bikes that hadn't been used for 3 1/2 years... 8000km in one month made up for long time home.
