    Had the backcountry kit, new radius arms and sway bar install on my 2020 Tremor last Friday at CJC . Picked it up and drove it 200+ miles to the river. Truck ride was great with 37” tires. I was originally going to get the commuter system, but decided to get the backcountry. It wasn’t much more than the other kit. But I rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Long story short I needed it when I had to tow my boat down a 7 mile dirt road. Thanks CJC for the quality install and customer service.

    I'm running the thuren fox 2.0 resi's and I will say, you have to push the truck fairly hard off road for the shocks to warm up and ride plush (western montana dirt roads and forest roads). It does soak up potholes and everything at speed but if I were to do it again I'd probably opt for non-res shocks as the on-road ride quality would probably be better

How does Carli handle this and adjust to stay level? I will be adding a front bumper and a winch but I want the truck to stay level. Will I need to add a extra spring spacer? How’s sales them? Hi CJC, I have a RAM2500 Cummins 4x4. I am not a high speed off roader. I do trails, more overloading / tourer type setup at a reasonable / slow speed - some obstacles and the value to me lies in the additional articulation/suspension travel. I do tow a camper travel trailer from time to time as well. Commuter or Backcountry? Also, I would like to keep the factory rake look, do you offer taller springs in the rear from Carli to address this? This is so that when I do add some payload and weight it does not look like truck is squatting lower than the front. Would you have a solution for the above?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  3 года назад

      We’d recommend the Back County for that application as the Commuter shocks get overwhelmed with sustained sections of washboards etc, but the Back Country shocks handle that no problem thanks to the resistance and additional damping in the tuning profile. Articulation and travel are identical between systems. We also offer Carli’s +2” rear coils if you want to retain factory rake!

    My 2020 F250 is my daily driver - 95% of the time it’s on the road. Went with the commuter, and I notice the most difference over speed bumps, pot holes etc. It’s not quite as smooth as I expected but a definite improvement. Would the add a pack greatly improve the daily ride? Trying to decide between add a pack, or upgrading the shocks and going full leaf.

    How does carli stack up against a full air ride suspension? Any major differences in towing capabilities? Ride quality?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 года назад +3

      There's a common misconception that air suspension is like riding on a cloud, and it couldn't be farther from the truth. Air suspension has a key place for hauling, since the spring rate is easily adjustable for carrying loads. Off road or empty however, there's a massive sacrifice to ride since you have to stretch and compress a thick bag each time the suspension moves. If you care about flex, suspension travel, or overall ride quality on and especially off road, a coil spring and shock set up can't be beat. Also keep in mind that you can still supplement one of the Carli systems with air bags or Timbrens for towing, without the huge hit to ride quality that a full air ride system has.

  • @Rangerdnger

    So if you can do a 2.5” level with a full Carli leaf pack on a Ford can you do a 2.5 level with a full Carli leaf pack on a 3500 ram? Would they both set close to level?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 года назад +1

      No the Ram 3500's will sit level with the 2.5" coil up front and the factory leaf pack in the rear. Doing the full rear leaf pack raises the rear of the truck 1", making it level with a 3.25" front coil, or nose down with a 2.5" level coil.

    Slightly off topic but what truck do you guys think rides better with the same carli kit ford/ram?

      There’s nothing that beats the coil sprung Ram 2500s in terms of ride quality!

    Is the add a pack required?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 года назад +1

      For the Fords it is not required at the 2.5” height. You can do the factory pack, add a pack, or full Carli pack on the 2.5” Ford trucks.

      @@CJCOffRoad can the add a pack be used with an inverted lower set of leaves to allow it not to squat as much? I have no intrest in going air ride, just want increased resistance to squat.( I tow 15k daily 1500lbs tounge weight.)

      The add a pack is meant to be used alone, but maintains factory towing specs. In our experience, the best ride quality with load supplementation will come from using either the Cari long travel air bags, or a Firestone ride right air bag in a Daystar cradle.

      @@CJCOffRoad I have a 2016 F250 and want to keep the rake look somewhat. With the 2.5” commuter and the add a pack, will I get that? I ask because on Carli’s webpage, it says 2.5” front and 0-2” rear, and I take that as by adding the add a pack, I am getting a 2” lift in the rear.

    Why don't the factory engineers, a very smart bunch, make suspensions to operate better line Carli? I am not talking about a huge lift. The commuters system is a good example. Ram puts so much good in their trucks but in the 3500, the commuter system appears to be a must. I don't get it.

    Hello great video. Just purchased a 2020 6.7 Lariat Superduty. 98% of my driving will be on pavement and I will be pulling a trailer about 10% of the time. What would you suggest in a upgraded suspension? Thanks again
